Ford 7.3L Power Stroke (1999-2003) :: Front End Rebuilt - Hopping And Vibrating At Any Speed Or RPM
I recently (1month ago) rebuilt my entire front end. The only things that were not replaced are track bar, steering box, front driveshaft, and sway bar bushings. I'm having the same issues that I had before the rebuild. It just feels like the front is is on basketballs. Hopping and vibrating at any speed or rpm. On a smooth road or on the highway it feels like I'm hitting bumps that aren't there.

I am experiencing an annoying noise from the front struts when passing over bumps. I do not believe that the front end is bottoming, but it seems to give a deep thud sound. It is not a tin sound, but more like something loose and insulated. What is a jounce bushing? Are these something in the strut assembly and susceptible to getting loose? I have read about the springs could be the culprit, but could it be that the front spring is bottoming and the strut is hitting a bottoming rubber ? Jounce bushing?

I have a 2012 SE 4 Cylinder Special Edition and just hit 60,000. Lately, I have been noticing this vibrating/shaking in the front of the car when I'm coasting or accelerating at a slow speed. What it could be? I got my front end alignment done thinking it could be that but it still continued.
View 7 RepliesSuburban :: Shakiness While Accelerating In Passing Gear At Highway Speed
I just had four new LT E rated tires installed (balanced). Alignment is good and did not require adjustment. Tires are correct size for the vehicle. I noticed during an extended highway trip yesterday that the truck (94 K1500 Suburban) seemed to shake or rather bump slightly when I was accelerating to pass in the sixty-five to seventy-five mph range. Almost seemed like driving on a fine washboard. I looked at the balancing weights which on three of the wheels appear to be nearly the same size. Then I noticed the right front weight is obviously larger than the other three. Could this be the problem?
There's a bit of a story here. (Isn't there always?) I bought the tires from one source (whom I would never trust to do any repairs) and had a shop I deal with regularly close to home install them. The morning after the install I went to check the pressure cold and discovered that the right front tire was a standard tire while the others were the LTs which the bill showed I had paid for. So I missed this when I bought them (they threw them in the back of the truck after assuring me all four were the same) and my mechanic missed it when they were installed. Now the tires do look almost identical but the lettering on the standard tire was black both sides while the LTs were white on one side. Of course the standard tire has a lower maximum psi rating.
I went to the mechanic first and he admitted to noticing this but I guess it just didn't register with him to double check to see if it was actually a different tire before mounting it?! I should say I am having second thoughts about using this shop in future, especially after they under inflated the tires at 30psi as well. When I told him I was running 45psi he looked at me like I was from Mars but then, upon checking his Mitchell Manual he says that yes, this truck should have 45 to 65 psi. Anyway, the guys who sold me the wrong tire made good on the problem however they installed and balanced it and I'm wondering if they got this part wrong hence the vibration I'm getting at around seventy-five.
The work order from the guys who installed the tires also states I need two upper ball joints, pitman's arm and left outer tie rod and alignment (which I understand is standard when doing this job). Now I had them show me this and while I'm no mechanic I could see the play in the ball joints was extremely minimal and pitman arm almost negligible (the mechanic had a lot of trouble showing me this had any play at all and admitted he had seen much worse). The boot on the left outer CV joint is also split and missing its grease. I'm not saying the suspension is perfect but I think they are on a fishing expedition here and I am skeptical this is what is causing the vibration at high speed because I never noticed it until the new skins were applied.
Passat (B5) :: 2001 - Vibrating Noise From Front Suspension When Drive
I replaced the front brake pads of my 2001 B5 Passat with the PBR metal master brake pads. Recently, I've been getting a vibrating noise from my front suspension when I drive. The noise is like something is about to fall apart. After checking it out at the local dealership, the service advisor told me that the brake pads didn't have any clamps to secure it thus causing the ticking noise. He said I need to get the OEM brake pads. I know that PBR is not the OEM brake pads, but I thought no brake pads come with a clamp like he is describing. He insist that the OEM brake pads do. I checked the brake pads that I replaced and they were Akebonos.
My questions are:
1. What clamp is he talking about?
2. Is the clamp something that comes with the brake pads or a separate part that I have to get somewhere else?
Lexus IS 2014+ :: Stepped Off The Gas Pedal / Speed Keeps Increasing
Today i wanted to slow down a bit after hitting 75mph on a 65mph freeway so i stepped off the gas pedal. However the speed did not decrease but kept going up slowly to 80 till i stepped on the brake in order to slow down. After hitting the brake , it seemed to work as usual ( speed decreases when foot is pff the pedal). Had to do it multiple times today? Am i missing something? Only happened on the freeway, once i got off it seemed fine.

Ford Excursion :: Vibration Frequency Increasing With Speed
Had a long trip with the X this week and noticed a weird vibration up at speed. Anything before 65 mph and the truck was smooth, higher than that a medium vibration developed. Its frequency increased with speed. Never got the truck over 70, but the vibration was there enough to rattle change in the cup holder and the rear view mirror. What it might be? I was thinking a hub bearing... 2000 Limited 4x4 PSD ....
View 14 RepliesFord Ranger / B-Series :: Speedometer Will Reverse Despite Of Increasing Speed When Gets Over 75 MPH
1999 (built late 1998) Ranger 2.5 stick 2wd single cab. If I get much over 75 MPH the speedometer will reverse direction despite increasing speed. If I then let off the throttle completely, the speedo will jump right back up and indicate the correct speed. Continued operation without letting off the throttle to let the speedo recover will trip the ABS fault light, probably due to the erratic signal.
Disconnecting RABS module has no effect on symptoms. Speed sensor in the rear axle has been replaced already (by me) and the new unit ohm'd out good. Wiring between GEM and sensor checks out as well, good continuity (< 1 ohm) and no shorts to chassis ground. I wish I had an o'scope to take a look at the waveform, but I don't at the moment. It is on my future tool purchase list.
Mazda :: 1993 - RPMs Increasing But Speed Staying The Same / Decreasing - Clutch?
I have a 1993 protege that was previously not having any issues. I recently had a mobile mechanic replace my axle after it broke. Since then I have had issues with the rpm's increasing but the speed staying the same or decreasing. This happens mostly uphill and especially when the vehicle is cold. Is there another reason this can occur besides a bad clutch?

I have this noise that is cumming from under the car about dead center Engine area its only heard while driving and more as the car has been driven for some time. From speeds 20mph and above only when increasing speed or when full throttle. It wont do it in park or revving it i jack up the car front end and put in drive only front right tire turns but still no noise(is there away for the left tire to turn). Everthing works normal the noise is low and at times only.

Lexus RX 2004-09 :: RX330 Rear Wheel Bearing Type Noise Gets Louder With Increasing Speed
I have a rear wheel bearing type of noise that appears to come from the rear. My vehicle is front wheel drive and has 135K miles.
I checked the rear wheel bearing/hub assys on both sides and they had no play but I changed them anyway. Noise did not change at all. Rear tires have normal wear, no cupping or anything. Noise gets louder with increasing speed up to a point and then remains a constant level.
My next thought is to check the front wheel bearings/cv joints.
Passat (B5) :: 1999 - Vibrating Noise Only In Drive During Idle
I am hearing a weird like vibrating noise when the call is in DRIVE during idle like at a red light or stopped position only. Noise goes away when placed in Neutral or Park. The cars gotta be in drive to make the noise... My car is a 1999 Passat V6 AHA engine code by the way, only 20K on it...
View 1 RepliesPrius C :: Clanks Coming From Front Brakes When Passing Over Pavement Imperfections
I have owned a C for almost 8 months. Happy owner except for clanks that seem to come from front brakes when passing over bots dots or pavement imperfections. It has been that way since day 1.
I'm aware a TSB exists for Gen 3 Prius brakes but seems there is nothing for C nor any comment found in Priuschat from other C owners. I would wait the next scheduled maintenance unless it is a serious issue
Ford 7.3L Power Stroke (1999-2003) :: Loud And Vibrating Noise Form Front Left?
I've got a loud, intermittent, swooshing, vibrating noise from the front left wheel area at highway speeds. I put a camera down there and saw that when there was noise, the front driveshaft and front left halfshaft were spinning. When they stopped spinning on their own, the noise stopped. Hubs are Warn Premium (gold) and unlocked. Unit bearing already replaced. What could it be?
View 10 RepliesPassat (B5) :: Increasing Oil Smell When At Idle After Engine Is Warm
After almost 9 years, 130K miles on my 2000 GLX wagon 5-sp., for the last 6 months I'm noticing an increasing oily "smell" when at idle after the engine is warm. Other posts suggest it might be a leak in rear cam seals or valve cover gasket dripping small amounts of oil down on the exhaust system. There's been no visible oil leak when the car is parked and it does NOT "use" oil between every 5K changes. Is replacing the valve cover gaskets a job within the reach of a moderately experienced DIYer?
View 3 RepliesTouareg :: Vibrating When Turning At Slow Speed?
So, I just noticed this happening about a month ago and it's been occurring more frequently. Whenever I'm turning (left or right) and moving at a very slow speed (1 - 5mph), I feel a binding and sometimes I hear a slipping sound (that's the best that I can describe it). When I hear this sound, it feels like the Touareg's gears or center differential is slipping. What it is? If so, was the dealer able to resolve it quickly?
View 5 RepliesPassat (B6) :: Low Speed Front End Noise
OK, so I'm looking for a little insight before I head back to the dealer. Currently running an H&R Cup Kit (about 6,000 Mile) and been happy BUT:
1. @ install I replaced F&R Upper Strut Bearings & alignment by dealer, also swapped to F&K Shorter Front Sway Bar Links.
2. Front Control Arm Bushings replaced under warranty by dealer about 2,000 Miles after Cup Kit Install.
3. Front Upper Strut Bearings replaced under warranty about 4,000 Mile after suspension install due to a slight clicking noise at low speeds when turning hard to the Left (so only 2,000 Miles on the last set and they were replaced).
4. Installed 26mm H&R Rear Sway Bar about 1,000 Miles ago on softest setting.
So where I am at today is the low speed front end noise is back and worse, I now have noise no matter the degree of the turn. Also sounds like sub-frame is lose when hitting speed bump etc (first time on this VW but been through it with the last Audi). My question is what are different peoples opinions as I think I'm overlooking something before it goes back to the dealer again. Sounds like the front spring is binding a bit as I can hear the clank as the tension releases but this can also be the front sway bar.
Passat (B5) :: Clunking Noise In Front End When Car Goes Over A Dip At Speed
When I drive over a bump or the car goes over a dip at speed, there is clunking sound from the front end. It seems to be much more noticeable in this cold weather, hence my current concern. I have not looked into it at all. I live on a bumpy dirt road, so the front end gets a workout.
The car has 39,800 miles. So the 40k is almost here, and the 4 years is almost here as well so I cannot just not drive the car for a while.
But if I can get a common problem fixed under warranty, I will take the time tomorrow to deal with this. The other weird thing in this cold snap is that the VW never seems to get to 190 deg, like it usually does (middle of temp gauge), it will be a few notches below. Normal situation? It will go back to 190 if I turn off the heat and drive a bit harder, but with the heat blasting (baby in car) and very mellow driving, it doesn't quite make it...
Passat (B6) :: Squeaky Front End When Go Over Speed Breakers
I've noticed when my car is first driven it squeaks LOUDLY like an old Lincoln in the front when I go over speed breakers. I only have 9k miles on it so I'm wondering if this is common or something else to have checked out at the 10k service.
