Geo - Prizm :: 1998 Won't Start But Horn Alarm Keeps Going
I could not get my car to start yesterday so I had my friend jump it and we got it started. took my daughter to school this morning no problem car started right up ran fine 2 hours later car wouldn't start again but this time when we tried to jump it the horn was honking from the car alarm. disconnected the terminal took the battery to the shop had it tested battery is good cleaned the terminals with a wire brush hookef it back up and the horn startef honking again disconnected the battery to stop the Horn.here's where it gets really weird #1 my horn hasn't worked in months #2 I have never used the alarm didn't even know it was activated.I inherited the car last year from Grandma who did not like the keyless entry and had it removed she paid big money to Chevy to have it removed so I have no keyless entry to my car and from what I can find online that is the only way to stop this! its a 98 Chevy Prizm I only have 49 thousand original miles car is in beautiful shape have never had a problem until now. it has the original cassette deck no CD, it doesn't even have electric windows, what can I do.

I checked all the fuses and they're all ok. My windows will not go down. The alarm won't arm, the doors won't lock with the key fob, my mirrors won't Adjust. I can't figure this one out. All the fuses checked out ok.

I have a 2000 Passat and one day the the alarm remote just stopped working. I bought new batteries for it but it didn't work. Shortly after that my A/C started taking about a 1/2 hour to start working. What is the reason for both of these to start acting up?

The alarm has been going off during the day for two days now. About four days ago the fuel tank door switch went then the alarm started going off two days later that night the car wouldn't start and only the dash, radio, and locks would work. there was no blinking from the alarm indicator this morning the I heard the alarm going off, and the car would start, also during today when i was in the trunk, the trunk light was going in and out CCM? and/or bad wiring?

Got a call from my wife this morning. Her car won't start. She says the when she turns the key, the doors lock and the alarm goes on. She says the "EPC" light stays on in the cluster, but that's just all the lights turning on right? I remember this happening in my 97 Golf. A recharge of the battery is all I should need right?

Sister have problems with her 2000 Passat. She bought the car new and has dumped way too much money into this thing since then, just keeping it going. First off, some valet broke her glove box so i would like to know if there is anywhere to buy parts at a good price, a trusted place. Secondly, when she starts the car up an alarm goes off on the display and says "STOP: Brake Fault" but apparently a tech that she trusts says her brakes are fine minus the fact that the FP brake is missing a "pin", claimed to be fixed at the dealer but wasn't.
As well as she throws a cel pertaining to a?Secondary airflow valve? Lastly, she has been holding onto some little plastic piece that fell off somewhere on the inside. It looks like half of a smurf hat or a comma if that makes it easier to visualize. Part numbers on the back are 3B085854801C Donnelly 423 1919. I do all the work on my own car but have a bit of a time working on things on this VW. They really don't like people working on these outside the dealer, but she is looking to get this stuff repaired along with a rear window off track, and that's insane.
Passat (B5) :: Engine Does Not Start And Alarm Goes Off When Unlock With Remote Or Main Key
So my remote and main key got into a washing machine...Put new batteries in it but no go. Car does not start with either main key or valet. When I unlock the driver side door with either key, engine does not start and alarm goes off immediately. From searching the forums I assume I have 15 seconds from opening door and I am well within 15 seconds. Remote should not be necessary as transponder used to validating key is a passive RFID in the key part.
Dealership so far has been unuseful. I told them I can't start the car and they said yeah come in and we'll program you a new remote. When I got there (by motorcycle) they told me they need the car. It's a 2000 Passat GLX V6.
Passat (B5) :: Alarm Triggered When Trying To Start Car / Fault Codes 00928 And 01358
Ok in parking lot car is armed but driver side door is unlocked press the unlock on remote will not unlock the doors however I can pop the trunk with remote. Try to start car and alarm is triggered and car will not start. I have fault codes like 00928, 01358. Is there away to disable the entire alarm so I can start it and get home.

I just bought a 98 passat sedan v6 four days ago. When I purchased it the turn signals and hazards were working. I was driving yesterday and they went out all of the sudden. Thought it was the fuse at first, changed it, still not working. I bought a turn signal flasher relay, but the repair manual doesn't tell me which one it is so I can change it.

Looking for a diagram of how the rear bulb set should be filled on a 98 Passat Estate. ie: with what bulb types go where. etc.
I have big problems with my brake lights not working when the lights are turned on, then when I change bulbs about, they work but the rear lights do not come on etc, or one side does. All bulbs work, but not as they should together. I know I have a right mess of bulbs in the wrong place. The car is just new to me so trying to sort. I also have one empty bulb set on the outer side of each bulb holder unit and so wonder what this is for and if it is used.

I just Put an 98 1.8 T engine into a 2000 2.8 passat , Everything is working fine , But The Tachometer , The Rpm And The temperature Gauges in the cluster are not working ... The Fuel Gauge also Beep and indicate low fuel when i'm turning ... Actually , the car has the V6 Cluster , i switch those and it make no difference ....
All the wires are hooked up in the ecm compartement , each wire with good color ...
Is someone has both wiring diagram of ecm compartment plug ?? 2000 v6 and 98 1.8T

How good the alarm on a B6 is. I mean, it goes off when the doors are opened and the alarm is on...but how easy is it to steal a Passat.
I wanna put a navi in and do a few things...but I just don't feel ok doing them and knowing I don't have a GREAT alarm.
Passat (B5) :: 1998 VW Engine Won't Start
I just bought a used 1998 VW Passat and everything seemed to be working fine until today. I drove the car up the road to get some food, went inside and not even 30 minutes later came back out to get in my car to go to work and the car wouldn't start. I turn the key and push in the clutch like normal and nothing happens except for the lights inside on the dash come on, but the engine doesn't begin to turn over or anything. The emergency flashers in the dash begin to flash automatically, don't know if that has anything to do with it.
