Golf IV / Jetta IV :: Won't Start - Bad Crankshaft Position Sensor?
My car doesn't start right now and a shop diagnosed it as an ecu, but I'm starting to think that is not the case. The tach doesn't move when I try to start it and pushing the gas doesn't change it, so I'm thinking it is the crankshaft position sensor. Unfortunately, down at school, I don't have access to a jack, so I was wondering if there is any way to get to the cpa without a jack? I'd rather not have it towed to another shop.
Also, my coil pack has a huge crack in it. Could that be causing my problem? And my sai has some really frayed wires and I'd rather not replace it if I don't have to because these repairs are really adding up, but could that be causing problems too? it's not causing gas mileage issues and I live in an emissions-free county, so simply not allowing me to pass emissions isn't a problem.
Civic - Honda :: 2001 - PO335 Crankshaft Position Sensor A Circuit Error Code
33k Civic 2001 "PO335 Crankshaft Position Sensor A circuit" error code
My Civic 2001 LX (non vtec 1.7) threw an error code today. It was, "PO335 Crankshaft Position Sensor A circuit" error code. It was raining a lot today, and this is the first day that it did it. I have never had this problem before. When the error code came on the engine automatically lost power. I couldn't get the car over 3000 rpm. Then it stalled in an intersection. Now it won't start period. It only has 33k on the clock.
The timing belt was done about two months previous, but i haven't had one problem until today, when it was raining.

Golf IV / Jetta IV :: 2000 GLX - Intermittent Start And Stall / Pending Code P0321
My wife drove the car to work, and it ran good. She got a check engine light, but it was not on when I got home from work. I started the car and it idled fine for a couple of minutes and then it stalled. I check the codes and there was nothing locked in. There was a pending coding P0321. I am not sure what a pending code is, but I assume not enough to trigger the check engine light.
After work each night this week I tried troubleshooting but I have not gotten anything accomplished. Each night the car would start fine but if I turned it off it would not start until many tries if at all. It turns over strong but won't start. I drove it around the neighborhood today and it stalled and wouldn't restart.
The fuel pump primes. When the car won't start the fuel pump relay clicks constantly. Is this normal? I replaced the fuel filter because it has been 50k miles. Is the crank shaft sensor the problem? I hate to throw money at parts that aren't the problem when I can't get a code to trip the check engine light.
Golf IV / Jetta IV :: Crankshaft Position Sensor Is Wet With Oil?
2000 jetta vr6 manual 150k miles, i have trouble starting the engine so I thought i'd start by replacing the crankshaft sensor. I notice that its wet with oil when i pull it out, and wasn't sure if tits supposed to be dry. I may have a bad ECU in the end...
View 1 RepliesSilverado :: New Engine Won't Start - Crankshaft Position Sensor Is Out Of Circuit
I have a 2001 Chevy Silverado 4.3L that I recently put a new engine in. The new engine will turn over but will not start. I am not getting any spark for some reason. The OBD2 code that keeps coming up says that the crankshaft position sensor is out of circuit. I have put in a new CKP sensor and new electrical connector, new spark plugs and wires, new distributor rotor and new ignition coil and still get the same OBD2 code and it won't start.
View 2 RepliesChrysler - Lhs :: 1997 - Replaced Ignition Coil / Crankshaft Sensor But Car Won't Start?
Drove 97 LHS home from work back at the end of June on a 100 plus day, it seemed fine, no indication of any problem. Got in it the next morning to go to work and it would not start. Cranks fine, hear fuel pump. So a few days pass before my husband can look at it. He did get codes. He replaced the ignition coil, put on a new fuel filter, and replaced a couple of modules. It would still not start. We towed it to a service station that we have used for years.
They replaced the camshaft sensor (and fixed the AC). I drove it for 8 days, no problems. Then on the morning of the 9th day, it would not start!! Exact same symptoms. So towed it again back to the service station. Then they said it was the PCM (control module). Husband went to junk yard to get one (much cheaper). Service shop put it in and then said that was not the problem and replaced the crankshaft sensor instead. Say it was ready to pick up. I went and paid again! Got key and came back later with husband to pick it up. IT would not start!!!
Golf IV / Jetta IV :: Code P1340 - Cam / Crankshaft Sensor Out Of Sequence
So I started up my 12v VR6 the other morning and it sounded like a Subie. Threw the awful code P1340: cam/crankshaft sensor out of sequence, and took it to the shop. I'm being charged $1900 for servicing the timing chains, only. Doesn't include water pump and clutch like every other shop does. Reason for this is because in Montana, no one works on these cars. So I this is my only route. I had to choose this small euro repair shop or the VW dealer.
But, they just recently called me and told me I need to get the timing gears changed or whatever? They want to charge an additional $600 or so to do that. Are these gears a real problem? or are they just trying to F me. I mean, $1900 should make this car flawless as it is so I feel that they are attempting to rip me off even more.
Golf IV / Jetta IV :: 2001 - Getting Check Engine Code P0343 And P0321?
I just got a 2001 VW Jetta. I got it with the Check Engine light on. Went to my local AutoZone to get a OBDII reading, got codes P0343 & P0321. P0343 Camshaft Position Sensor A Circuit High Input B1. P0321 Ignition/Distributer Engine Speed Input Circuit Range/Performance. So for P0343 I got the Camshaft Position Sensor for $70 and for P0321 got Crankshaft or Speed Position Sensor for $110 ( FYI, Crankshaft Position Sensor & Speed Sensor are the same ). Paid $160 to get both sensors replaced. I know both sensors are easy to replace but it was easier to pay..

View 19 RepliesGolf VI R :: Getting Error PO140 After Replacement Of O2 Sensor - Fuse?
So, at some point in the past (probably during the winter) the bottom panel on the passenger side of the car was torn off. Either during that incident, or sometime after, the O2 sensor wires were also torn. I have replaced the O2 sensor (and the bottom panel), but I'm still getting a P0140 (O2 Sensor Circuit) error. So, now I'm wondering if the torn wires managed to short circuit, either with themselves or in the rain/snow at some point. What fuse this might be? I haven't pulled the cover off to check yet, just thought I would ask here while I was thinking of it.
View 4 Replies4Runner/GX470 :: Crankshaft Sensor Code P0335 - CEL Comes On And Go Out
My check engine light comes on in the morning (P0335 - crankshaft sensor) and will sometimes go out in the afternoon (after driving for a bit. I replaced the crankshaft sensor (figured what the heck) but didn't cure the code. Puzzles me with the on and off check engine light.
View 2 RepliesPassat (B5) :: P0322 Crankshaft Sensor Code Detected
My car is an AUG 1.8t with 153K miles and it has been running great since the timing belt change last summer. It died while driving it earlier today. I pulled a P0322 code which looks like it's for a crankshaft position sensor. I cleared the code.
After the car sat for about an hour I was able to restart the car and drive the car two miles back to my house. On the way back I felt the engine shudder and got an Engine Workshop warning, no CEL. I scanned anyway and found a pending P0322. Once I shut the car off it cranks but will not start.

Lumina :: 98 3.1 24x - Code 336 Indicating Crankshaft Positioning Sensor Out Of Limits
recently started getting a 336 code indicating crankshaft positioning sensor out of limits.
removed the 7x sensor but it seems ok and the car does start ok. checked the ECM input of the 24x sensor and I never get anything but straight 11.2 volts when crank turns. checked at the 24x connector and get the same. (green lead on B connection).
problem I have is getting to the sensor. The crank pulley bolt just will not let go! I've tried impact gun set to max,(typical DIY type gun, not the best) and tried a breaker bar with hammer. how to get the crankshaft balancer off.
Santa FE SM (2001-06) :: Crankshaft Position Sensor Broken In Block
2002 My friend's 2.7L sante fe crankshaft position sensor went bad and I went to replace it. Removed bolt, it was stuck fast, tried to pry out and it broke off leaving the last 1/2 inch stuck in block. Tried drilling a hole in it and using a screw to get it out but no luck. Afraid to keep drilling that I might damage something behind it. How to get it out?
