Golf VI R :: Sway Bar Rubbing The Axle Under Heavy Compression After Lowering?

I lowered the car on H&R sport Springs with Koni Yellows. On the front right, the sway bar is rubbing the axle under heavy compression (pot hole, sharp dip, bridge joints, etc) and is rubbing the lower control arm (opposite direction) on the driver's side... I got an alignment when I lowered it and it was "within specs"...

I put on adjustable sway bar end links and lengthened the passenger side 1/4" and shortened the drivers side 3/8". left side is slightly better but right side seems almost worse... all rubbing was minimal (barely through the paint on the cast iron parts and nearly no marks on the axle... both strut bearings are new. is it possible that it could be the alignment? Just seems odd to me that the sway bar end links need to be varied lengths to clear....

Golf IV R32 :: Rubbing Noise In Wheel Well

I've noticed lately that when I make a fairly sharp, but at low speed, left hand turn (for instance, I have a roundabout in my neighborhood) I get a strange rubbing noise coming from the front driver side wheel well and a bit of a vibration in the steering wheel. I'm still on the stock suspension, so I shouldn't be rubbing. Have I blown a shock or something?

Golf/GTI VI :: Correct Control Arm Angles After Lowering?

I haven't lowered my GTI yet but would like to at some point in the semi near future (house comes first), but I want to keep my suspension geometry right when I do it. I like the mostly flush look, but I like to drive my car and don't want to compromise any handling of the car. Unfortunately with lowering the car, the front control arm angles get a bit out of whack and will adversely affect the handling of the car. Is there anything that can be done or any products out there on the market that will bring the front control arms back to a flat or slightly angled down position once lowered?

I know that on the MKIV platform a lot of people would go with a drop spindle, but I haven't found any good aftermarket or reasonable OEM solutions from other cars without having to replace a lot of parts. I seem to remember something about the TTRS knuckle/spindle fitting on the GTI, but it requires quite a bit of part swap and adds up in complexity and cost pretty quickly.

Golf IV R32 :: Front Swaybar Hitting Axle After Lowering

I just installed some Neuspeed sport springs with Koni sport shocks on my .:R and it appears like my swaybar is knocking against my front axle on the driver side.

Now, I read somewhere that is not supposed to be possible, but I can see the marks on the axle. Also, the swaybar link looks like it is twisted quite a bit with the new struts. And, when I look at them with the car on the ground, the distance between the swaybar and the axle looks to be at least 2 inches.

Do I need to center the swaybar? Maybe my control arm bushings are worn out really bad? The camber on the front of my car is -1.4 on both sides.

So I installed the DG springs today, and it should've been a simple install. Well once all was said and done I took it for a test drive. Every time I go over a bump I hear a loud clunking noise, like somethings loose. What it could be? I'm pretty sure I tightened everything.

Any road imperfection makes it clunk (from the front only).

-Clunks all the time, slow, fast, turns, straight, large or small bumps. Doesn't clunk with dips...
-Gets better when its hot outside (>70 degrees),

Golf IV / Jetta IV :: Lowering Rear Axle To Install OEM Suitcase Muffler

I know I can continue to cut off parts of the old muffler but that does me no good when it comes to install the new unit.

Golf/GTI VII :: After Installation Of Lowering Spring Hearing Popping / Banging Over Large Bumps?

I installed H&R lowering springs this weekend and now the suspension is making quite a bit of noise. I've double and triple checked the installation, and this isn't my first rodeo, so I don't think anything is improperly installed.

I'm hearing popping/banging over large bumps. I do believe that the noise is most noticeable when my tires drop off into a pothole and the suspension is unloaded. I think the noise is caused by the suspension being uncompressed and then the coils of the springs either hitting themselves or hitting the top hat.

Experienced excessive noise with the H&R springs? I think my next course of action is to get some spring isolators and see if that stops the noise.

GMC - Sierra :: Rubbing Noise That Seems To Come From Front Passenger Wheel

Concerning my recently purchased '99 GMC Sierra 1500 2wd 4.8L...

There is a seemingly undiagnosable, not that noticeable, rubbing noise that seems to come from the front passenger wheel - one rub for every revolution of the wheel. It is fairly subtle and can be felt (subtle) in the steering wheel between 30mph and 45mph. I don't think a lot of people would notice it and anyone that did would probably just turn up the radio at this point. After all, this truck has a very solid drive train and runs amazingly smooth for its age and mileage (172K)

Here are the repairs I have made that you might be about to suggest:- New front bearing/ hub assemblies on both sides within the last year. No play in any of the wheels.- New tires from Firestone within last month.- New tie rod ends and alignment. - New rotors, pads, and flex lines on front. Refurbished caliper on passenger side front.- New pads, calipers, and flex lines on rear. (one of the calipers had seized and I thought I had finally found the problem... not.) (one of the flex lines was the wrong part and was rubbing up against the rim... I thought that was the problem... not.)

Here are the things you are about to suggest I check:- Transmission, rear axle bearings, etc checked out by my trusted transmission shop. - Wheel well shields are firmly attached.

Things I haven't yet fixed : tail pipe bracket, evap emission solenoid assembly, blower fan resistor thingy, crappy door latch.

Cavalier :: Repetitive Rubbing Sound At Front Wheel

I have this repetitive rubbing sound coming from the driver's side front wheel. It increases as I go faster and slower as the car goes slower. When I apply the brakes the sound disappears. It usually isn't audible when first driving but will show up after a few minutes. If I'm turning slightly to the left it will go away, or if I make a right turn I will occasionally get a rattling noise that's distinctly different.

I had this looked at a while ago, before the rattling noise appeared, and they determined it was a motor mount and replaced that. The noise did not go away.

I've taken a look at it and do not see anything obvious. Brake pads are still good, rotor is smooth and not visibly warped (though it has more rust on it than I'd like). I tried moving the tire to see if the bearings were shot but didn't have any luck (I'm not ruling it out yet).
