Golf IV / Jetta IV :: Rattle In Engine Bay At 2500 - 3000 RPM

The rattle, 1.8t GLI

-2500-3000 RPM

-Car can be in gear or out of gear, rev rattle is the same.

-Sometimes, I can hear the rattle when the car is off and I slam the door slightly harder than usual.

-My hood release cable may have been the culprit, but I could only zip-tie part of it and the rattle hasn't changed.

One really important clue is that when I have reached around the area between my engine and airbox, the rattle has gone away. So I had a bad coolant flange, so when reaching my phone down there to take pictures, I must have bumped or pressed something because the noise was gone for about a mile.

I recently had my airbox out and a visual inspection didn't show any promise and tapping on random parts didn't recreate the sound.

There is am RPM rattle near my airbox....

Golf/GTI VI :: Choking Whenever Hit 3000 Rpm - Check Engine Light Came On Blinking

This morning on my drive to work my car would choke whenever I hit 3000 rpm right when the car is sucking the most air from my intake, and especially on 3rd gear and up. After being on the road for quite some time my check engine light came on blinking but went away right after I stop pushing the car to 3000 rpm to switch gears.

The car is on APR Stage 1 with AEM Filter + Nuespeed Intake + BSH Inlet Pipe.

Recently added was a VW Diverter Valve D Version due to an oil leaking from my Old Diverter Valvue G version.

Golf IV R32 :: Blinking Engine Check Light When Go Past 2500 - 3000 RPMs

I've been getting a blinking engine check light.. I pulled all the codes:

P0050: H02S Bank 2 Sen 1 Heater Circuit
P0155: O2 Sensor Heater Circuit Malfunction Bank 2 Sen 1
P0304: cylinder 4 Misfire detected
P0688: ECM/PCM Power relay sensor circuit

I've had the car sitting for awhile because I lost my job and didn't have any money to roll it around much.

I just changed out the spark plugs and two of these had a white coating on them.. I was hoping this would take care of the misfire after I replaced them. I also bought a new battery because mine had lost charge a few times.

The Car will run with an engine check light, but if I go past 2500-3000 rpms then it will start blinking (which means don't drive it )

The oil has been sitting in it for about 2 months, so I'm about to go change that and I'm hoping this will allow me to drive it without issues.

Any of these codes thrown and know what they could be? Which O2 sensor (like a link to a website that sells them). Trying to get this thing running again.

Golf/GTI VI :: Engine Noise When Parked

I just noticed today that my Golf VI 1.2 TSI (manual gearbox, 86 horsepower) is producing weird sounds when parked. (Never noticed that, probably started doing it today).

Nissan - Xterra :: Won't Rev Past 3000 RPM In 5th Gear

I can get my car to rev past 4,000 rpm in gears 1-4 but in 5th gear it wont pass 3,000. It used to be fine, but one day it was just like this and hasn't changed since. This is annoying because where I live some of the speed limits are at 75mph. When I'm in 5th gear at 3,000 rpm I'm only going 65. What can I do to fix this? Reset ECU? Clean MAF sensor? Is it related to an approaching timing belt failure (I'm at 94k miles and it needs to be replaced before 105k)...

Honda - Odyssey :: 2001 - Car Goes Into High RPMs (about 3000) Before It Seems To Drop Into Gear

I had my Honda Odyssey transmission replaced 2 years ago. The past few months, in the first mile that I drive the car on streets in our neighborhood, the car goes into high RPMs (about 3000) before it seems to drop into gear. It does this 2 or 3 times then works fine after that. The "Check engine" light is now on all the time. Sometimes, the car does one other weird thing--the high RPMs end with the drive/D4 light flashing on and off like a blinker (even if I change gears to D3. When this happens, if I turn the ignition off it comes back on and seems to function fine. I have had it back to the shop that did the work about 4-5 times to get it right. I like the guys but each time they return it to me, the problem remains. I took a 2000 mile trip with it and with the exception of this persistent problem, the van worked fine.

Ford Super Duty (1999-2016) :: F250 V10 - Rev Up To 3000+ RPMs And Finally Shift Really Hard Into Gear

I go out of town for work for a week and come back and my 1999 F250 V10 GAS, is acting up. It started when i tried to drive it and it didn't want to shift, it would rev up to 3000+ RPMs and finally shift really hard into gear along with the speed odo not keeping up and bouncing around not wanting to work. I also had my entire gauge cluster lit up with no key and door closed. all the lights were on and it was "dinging" like the door was open and it wasn't. you would hear it when you put your ear up to the door.

So my first thought was to change the VSS (which I did) no luck. So I started wiggling wire loops under the fuse box in the cab and the "dinging" quit.. i took it for a drive and it works like nothing ever happened. Obviously I am guessing there's a short so i brought it to my mechanic and hes saying he couldn't find anything by the fuse box but he thinks its closer or even attached to the gauge cluster itself. could this be true? Why would the gauge cluster loop throw off the shift points?

Mazda - B2200 :: Truck Continues To Roll While Parked And In Gear

My wife is out of town and while she parked her 1997 Mazda B Series pick up truck this morning she stated that her truck continued to roll while parked on a very slight incline. The vehicle was in gear so she put the emergency brake on. Could the clutch be slipping although she said it seemed to be shifting fine. She has to drive back 3 hours over the rolling hills of Nevada and is very concerned that something else could be wrong. What could I have her check besides the clutch fluid?

Golf VI R :: Clutch Was Slipping At 3000 RPM

I just had a new clutch installed yesterday. Bully stg3 with flywheel. My 2012 R has 22k. I had to change it since my stock clutch was slipping at 3000rpm with the Unitronic stg1+.

The second I start the car and stay on neutral, give a little gas I hear a super loud grinding noise. It stop when I press the clutch. On idle I don`t hear nothing and when I drive everything is fine until I release the clutch and when I don`t press the gas.

The shop said they never heard anything that loud and they confirm that everything was installed correctly. Other then the noise the clutch is fine and works very well.

Toyota - Corolla :: 1991 - Gear Grinding / Car Rolls When Parked As If It Was In Neutral

OK, my daughter bought a clunker. Engine compression tested good, and transmission shifted fine so I proceeded to fix the car. Everything went fine until I got to the passenger side axle. I've always reused the inboard "tulip", and have never pulled one. Until today. The boot on the remanufactured shaft would not fit over the old tulip. I rented a slide hammer with a cv remover attachment and removed the old tulip. I then installed the new shaft, using a hammer on the end of the shaft to reseat the new shaft in the transmission. I didn't hit it hard. Now the car makes a horrible groaning sound when I put it in reverse. When I shift back to park, it sounds like a gear grinding. Also, the car rolls when its in park as if it was in neutral. I'm totally stumped as to what I did wrong. Did I destroy the transmission???

The service light for the oil change came on this weekend. The car only has 2996 miles on it. The manual calls for the oil change at 5000 miles. My Touareg doesn't do this. Is this tied in to how you drive or is something wrong?

Golf V R32 :: Vibration Along With Sounding Exhaust When Go From 3000 - 5000 RPM

230 miles and I have one question. I'm braking in the R slowly and haven't really hit the RPM's in a crazy way but when I go from say 3000-5000 RPM I hear a vibration along with the nice sounding exhaust. It happens in each gear if i take it that high.

I'm thinking it's maybe a heat shield or something? Have any of you experienced this or maybe have heard of this symptom.

Other than this issue, the car is the bomb! My R is not numbered? Isn't the number on the steering wheel?

Kia - Sportage :: Engine Will Rev Really High Up To 3000 Rpm Until Put It In Reverse Or Drive

I drive a 1999 Kia Sportage with 84,000 miles on it and recently the engine has been running rather odd. When I start the car, sometimes the engine will rev really high up to like 3000 rpm until I put it in reverse or drive. Also, lately when I am in drive and I stop, or slow down so it drops below 1000 rpm the engine will kind of rev down to 500 and then back to 1000. This causes the engine to kind of shake and has once caused it to shut off. Now I put it in neutral when I stop. What it could be?

Golf V R32 :: Rattling Sound Above 3000 RPM From Underneath Passenger Seat

Having metal-on-metal loud sound coming from underneath the passenger seat (basically) at higher rpms? It sounds like it might be a heat shield or loose piece of the exhaust but I looked underneath and saw nothing out of the ordinary. It seems to be getting worse, so I am assuming its not supposed to sound this way.

On my drive home today around 2500-3000 rpm I am getting real bad lifter ticking noise. When I let of the gas it stops but as soon as I get back on it it will start ticking again. I just bought oil for an oil change Mobile 1

0W-40 I'm pretty sure plus a mobile 1 filter. Will this stop the ticking noise or do I need to adjust my lifters?

I just purchased a 2001 Jetta Wolfsburg with the 1.8T, 5 speed, and 169,000 miles. I need to figure out the engine hiccups. The check engine light is on. The car seems to hesitate between 2000-3000 rpm when the motor is lugged (pulling a hill, passing, etc).

I had the codes pulled at Autozone and came up with the following.

P0172 (Bank 1 System Too Rich)

P0300 (Random Multiple Misfire)

P0302 (Cylinder 2 Misfire)

P0420 (Catalyst System Below)

P0455 (Evaporator Emission)

P0411 (Secondary Air Injector Incorrect)

Golf/GTI VII :: Buzzing Sound Around 2300 - 3000 Rpms Mostly During Deceleration

Manual... I hear this buzzing sound, mostly during deceleration, on 2nd, 3rd or 4th gears between 2300-3000rpms, very annoying on 2nd and 3rd gears, but can still somewhat noticeable on 4th gear. Can also hear it on acceleration, sometimes on 2nd and 3rd gear, silent on 4th gear.

I've turned off soundaktor thru VCDS, but still hearing this sound so I was thinking that the hockey puck is still spinning, albeit not as annoying as when it's 100%. So I tried to disconnect it, still hearing that buzzing sound. I even removed all stuff from my car and it's still buzzing. Really annoying, specially if you just want to hear the sound of the engine braking on deceleration.

Golf IV / Jetta IV :: On Acceleration RPM Drops From 5000 To 3000 Without Letting Off The Gas?

My GTI has started to bog out, i guess is the best way to describe... As I am trying to accelerate on the highway my RPMs rev up to 5000 till I get any response to amount of gas I am giving. It will dramatically drop to 3000 without letting off the gas. then gradually will accelerate, untypical to way it use to perform. She respond this way cold or hot.
