Santa Fe (CM - 2007-12) :: Security Alarm Not Working After Replacing Actuator
Security alarm not working after replacing front drivers side actuator. Paid a local Mechanic to replace actuator and now the security alarm when you press the door lock twice on the door remote is not arming. When I press the door lock on the remote once, the doors lock. When I press it a second time to enable the alarm and to hear the horn nothing happens at all. Light doesn't flash and horn doesn't sound.

It appears that the security system is somehow shut down. None of buttons on wireless FOB [main key] is working to open the door etc. even though the red indicator lights up. If I use the key, it opens the doors fine. The powerdoor controls inside the car are working fine. I did notice that security light on the dashboard is not blinking anymore.
The car was idle for three-four weeks and it didn't start so I gave a jump with portable unit. Could that do any damage to fuse etc.?

My father-in-law has a 2008 f-250 with the 5.4. as he was driving a while back all the gauges of the dash quit. The engine still kept running without any noticeable difference but when he shut the engine off and tried to restart, it wouldn't even crank but the security light was flashing. He tried starting it again a few hours later and it started just like normal and ran fine.
He has had this problem occur several times in the last few months, but the other day it repeated the problem again and would not restart for about 5 days. He has tried charging the batteries, changing relays, checking all fuses and finding none blown, scanned it with his code reader, and checked the steering column for bare or rubbed wires.

I've got an '04 F250 4x4 gasser with a 4R100 tranny. I was driving home from work earlier when I noticed the overdrive lockout light was on. Not flashing, but steady like I'd accidentally locked out the O/D. I pressed the button to turn it off, but it stayed on and the O/D locked out for real. WTF?......I pressed it again, the light stayed on, but the trans shifted back to 4th like it's supposed to. I was near freeway speed, so I kept an eye on the tach for a few miles. Everything looked normal, except maybe the converter lockup seemed a bit sloppy whenever it downshifted/upshifted on a hill. That could be my imagination, though. I was in full AWACS mode by then, watching everything like a hawk.
Then I started wiggling the shifter a bit. I pushed the lever down against the detent, and the light went off. I let it go and it came back on. I did this a few times with the same results. It didn't affect the tranny operation. I pulled the lever back toward me like I was going to shift, and the light went out. I let it go and the light came back on. By this point I think I can rule out any major tranny problems as it seems the problem is in the wiring to the light, not to the O/D lockout circuit itself. I was thinking maybe a short to ground somewhere. What controls the lockout light, never had to deal with one before. I'm hoping for a easy answer before I tear into the steering column and start poking around in the harness.

Alero :: 2000 - Security Light Came On All Of A Sudden
I was driving my 2000 Olds Alero today and all of a sudden my security light came on. I have had problems with it before blinking and the car not starting where I just turned the key and waited for ten minutes and then the car would start (my mechanic told me to do that until I can afford to bring it in to him) but I have never had it come on while I was driving! I am worried that the car may just stop in the middle of the road. Why it would do that or have the same problem? I was also told that maybe I just need to go to Ace Hardware and get a new key made. Should I also stop using my keyless entry and just use the key to open it?
Another issue that I have been having was that once in awhile my signals won't work. It is strange but if I put the hazard lights on for awhile then try and signal, it will work. This doesn't happen all the time but I am worried because obviously signals are important!

I have a 2006 GMC Canyon i5 4x4 with 86000 mi. The problem started about 3 years after purchase. I would try to start the truck the starter engages but doesn't start, let off the key and the security light on the dash starts flashing. The manual instructs you to leave the key in the run position for ten minutes turn to off and retry to start. This usually works, on a couple occasions, I've had to do this twice. I've had the vehicle to the dealership with no results, it doesn't leave a code on the computer and hasn't happened while they had it. They tell me everything checks out fine but the problem still persists. I hate having a vehicle I can't depend on.

I have a 1999 Pontiac Grand Am coupe. Over 195,000 miles. Not worried about someone stealing it This past month we have the SECURITY light come on and blink.It's do that 3 times. Two times I remained in the car, with the windows down, while my wife was in a store, with her keys. I have my own, but just sat there reading, no A/C or radio on, According to the manual, it is an anti-theft "feature". When it does the computer shuts off the fuel and the car won't start. It turns over. We have to wait until the light goes off, then it starts. Dealership says they can't disable this "feature". They said it could be ignition switch or computer $$$. What can I do?

I have been having issues with a security malfunction in my car. Every great once in a while, most of the time when it rains, my security function in my car gets tripped and I am unable to start my car. The security light on my dash lights up and I have to wait 5-10 minutes for it to go off before I can start my car. I'm sure it's just a bad fuse but it can be very inconvenient sometimes and make me late for work! Where to even begin to look and I'm afraid if I start pulling wires that I might get locked out of my car completely.
