Touareg :: Low Oil Pressure - Stop Engine Warning Message
The "Low Oil Pressure - Stop Engine" warning message came on while my wife was driving yesterday. The warning went away after a brief moment. I check the oil when I got home from work. It's at max and the oil looks clean (had it changed about 1000 miles ago). We've never seen this warning before. Is it just a fluke or is it something that should cause concern.
View 6 RepliesPhaeton :: Getting Message Oil Pressure Low Stop Engine Alarm?
I have received this alert a few times while driving - it lasts a few seconds and then goes off. My mechanic says oil pressure is good and suspects erroneous message. I also received that message once while the engine was not running, ignition on, listening to the radio. This seems t support erroneous message.
View 6 RepliesVolvo :: 2006 XC90 2.5T - No Oil Pressure / Stop Engine Message On Dashboard
I am a new Volvo XC90 owner/fan. The issue is my lovely 2006 XC90 2.5T started to show the bizarre 'No Oil Pressure. Stop Engine.' dash board message red color.
First things I checked right after seeing that message.
Engine oil level - FINE (actually full).
Engine oil - CLEAN and recently replaced.
I drove 100 miles and the weather was peaceful 40f degrees (5c). The sign would come and off intermittently and stayed there for some time. We were luckily at the destination so we stopped the car and did our biz.
After a couple of hours we started the engine, drove a car, came back home driving 100 miles back without an issue.
But after a day, actually today, I saw the same message again. It was intermittently again and then would stay. If I restart the engine the message would go away but then would come back after sometime of driving.
So I called a couple of normal non-Volvo repair shops and they didn't know what the issue is and didn't even know why I would check the engine pressure. So OK pass.
I called Volvo dealer and he said if it is a 'low engine oil' message you can just top it up but if it is a 'engine pressure' message then the issue can be huge so he advised to tow the car in.
Passat (B6) :: 2006 - Stop / Oil Pressure Engine Off Message On Display And Ticking Noise
2006 Passat 2.0T
- Three days ago, after a cold start, while driving to work "STOP! OIL PRESSURE ENGINE OFF" came on the display and disappeared right away.
- Drove the car to work and did not stop.
- Came back home and saw "Some" Fluid leak on my driveway. I touched it but did not seem like engine oil (I am making this assumption based on the fact that the fluid was not dark, but it was oily".
- I have not received that warning after that single incident.
- I have not seen any new leaks either.
- But, when I press the accelerator, there is a ticking noise.. something like - if you put a card in a bicycle wheel.
My car is due for service. So taking to the dealer day after tomorrow. Miles: 70870....
Golf IV / Jetta IV :: Oil Pressure Stop Motor Message When Turn The Key To On Position

View 4 RepliesPassat (B5) :: 2003 - Got Oil Pressure Error Message
I have a 2003 1.8L Volkswagen Passat which I hate to say I've been lax on taking care of. In the past year I've been good about getting the oil changed and using fully synthetic oil. I am now getting an error message that says STOP Check Oil Press. Stop Motor. I took the car to my mechanic who can't tell me exactly what's wrong. From what I'm reading here, it looks like I'm dealing with "sludge."
My car is at a little over 60,000 miles and I'm wondering what to do. I don't mind spending the money to fix the car, but I really don't know how to figure out exactly what's going on, and what I should do. The mechanic I took the car to is going to completely empty the oil and then get a gage of the true oil level...
Passat (B6) :: MFD Displayed Oil Pressure High / Engine Off Message
As I was getting on the highway today, I heard a loud warning bell and my MFD displayed "Oil Pressure High. ENGINE OFF!". It lasted all of 5 seconds and then disappeared. Car seemed fine (other than the usual ticks and annoyances).

I had new glow plugs installed 3 weeks ago. Ran fine since. Today, first cold day. No start, oil pressure gauge does not move off zero, interceptor reads ICP 126. Oil level is good. WTS light does come on. Checked fuse 19 as I saw on another thread, it is good.
P1670 and 0381. My ford software is down, trying to reinstall. As soon as it is reinstalled, I can go thru the step process?
Passat (B5) :: Oil Press Stop Engine Message Appeared On Dash
So I was driving my cousin's Passat 1.8t gls with tip the other weekend when we went to the cottage and I got a strange message in the dash that first said STOP in big letters then Oil Press Stop Engine then Service Manual. So I immediately stopped the car. Checked the oil, it was completely full, looked around didn't see any oil on the bay so I called my cousin and he said its been doing that for a while and sometimes it says Brake Failure and I could keep driving no problem. On the drive home (3 hours) this was happening nonstop.

Took my 03 envoy that is having some voltage/electrical issues to get tested! Everything checked out fine! But then in the afternoon after sitting in the sun I went to start it an when I turned the key all that happened was the check engine light came on and nothing else. Would not turn over nothing, not a sound! That was about 4pm..... Now I got home and at 10pm went out to check it and it started right up.
View 7 RepliesGMC - Envoy :: 2003 - RPMs Drop When Driving Above 50 After Vehicle Has Warmed Up
I have a 2003 GMC Envoy I6 4.2L. When driving above 50 after vehicle has warmed up it will drop rpm's by 300-500 and they go back up. This happens for several minutes at a time. It did it for over 20 minutes last night while driving home. I thoroughly cleaned the throttle body this morning (removed to clean) because in my researching for the solution it seemed that was the answer. Also left battery disconnected the entire time to allow computer to reset itself for clean TB. Took it for test drive and after about 10 minutes of driving it started doing the same thing. Took it to autozone to see if maybe they could pull a code even though there is no SEL on at the moment, but nothing came up. I am dreading if it's in drivetrain, i have only had the vehicle for about a week and a half. Bought it used from a private seller and it drove home fine the day i bought it and a couple days after, but now it's gotten worse than when it first started.
View 5 RepliesFord 6.7L Power Stroke Diesel :: When Safe Stop And Shut Off Engine Immediately Message After Buzzer
Having that flash on the dash? Truck was running fine and the buzzer when off and dash said I think -- when safe stop and shut off engine immediately. Scared the scr-p out of me so not sure if that was word for word. Jump on the binders and got it off the road and called a wrecker. Now it's at the dealer waiting for them in the morning. Checked oil and don't see any leaks. Now I have lost my confidence in the truck. 42000 miles on it.
View 14 RepliesPhaeton :: Stop Engine - Low Oil Pressure
I decided to change my Phaeton (2006 3.0 tdi) oil myself. All done as in the workshop manual with no trouble.
However, a couple of miles down the road "Stop Engine - Low Oil pressure" appeared in red. I checked the oil level, which was perfect, so called out my local VW garage. They took it for an hour, then told me they didn't know what the problem was, said that oil was getting to the top of the engine no problem, and that the car was fine to drive. They recommended I see another dealer about 30 miles away, and they had no problem me driving there. Oh, and they charged me for an hour labour.
When I got home I checked the oil I used (bought from a motor factor in the UK using my vin number) - it was Miller long life 5-30, with VW code 504.00. I've just looked that up, and it says that 504.00 is for petrol engines, and 507.00 is what Diesel engines need.
So, it seems I have the wrong oil. But would 5-30 504.00 cause low oil pressure that 5-30 507.00 would fix? If so, what damage could I have done driving 20 odd miles with the wrong oil?
Car (GMC Envoy) Grinding / Whirring / Scraping Noise Coming From Front Of Engine
Here is a link to the audio [URL] .... It makes this noise, whether I'm at idle or running, granted it seems to be happen more when moving, its quite intermittent as it stops sometimes. I replaced the serpentine belt a month ago, so it can't be that. Its coming from the front of the engine. Sounds almost like the fan bearings or something below that is scraping. I've turned off the heater and it still does it, but the fan is spinning all the time, so I'm not sure what is going on.In the background you can hear cars going by on the overpass above, but I'm focused on the grinding noise. Car is not moving, its in park and makes the noise when moving also, with gas or at idle.
View 3 RepliesPassat (B5) :: 2003 W8 - Stop Oil Pressure / Airbag Fault
This morning when I tried to start my passat I got a number of errors. The car was running fine last night. I had to use all of my keys I had to get it started. At first there was a Air Bag Fault message, and the car would turn over but it wouldn't let itself run. After changing keys I got it started, however none of the gears show up on the LCD. At that time I got the stop low oil pressure light.
When I tried to start the car a third time it told me the car was immobilized. Since then I managed to get the car in the driveway, and now it starts up every time, not like it is immobilized, but I still get the air bag fault and the low oil pressure. Further the RPM's go up when the care starts but then the gauge bounces from 0 to around 1,000 when it is started, and the temp gauge is non functional. The engine itself holds a normal even idle.

View 5 RepliesPassat (B5) :: 2004 - Stop Engine Warning / Low Oil Pressure
On a city drive <10 minutes I get the STOP Engine warning, and Low oil pressure. I pull over, and my dip stick is dry, NO OIL! My car is just over 20K miles, and we just had it in for the service less than 5 K miles ago. There was no visible oil leaks, nor was there a pool of oil in the driveway.
Had similar problem with my 02, but it had 90K miles.
Is this possibly related to the PCV issue I read in another thread? Or are my seals just leaking? I added oil to get home, and then threw in some stop leak - seal conditioner.

Passat - Volkswagen :: 2007 - Stop Engine Low Oil Pressure Light Comes On
The engine light and Stop Engine low oil pressure light came on in my 2007 Passat. I had it towed to the dealer where it went through inspection for CPO certification. I purchased and had maint. and repairs completed at the dealership. I am at 84,000m. It is less than two years from date of purchase--however I am 12,000m outside of the limited warranty.
Dealership has said that there is factory based engine failure. To my knowledge, a diagnostic (1 Camshaft Position (Bank 1) Timing over advanced or system performance intermittent) and seeing metal near filter led to the conclusion that I can pay to take apart the engine--but most likely will need to replace the engine.
Outside mechanic has pointed out that the 2.0 engine tends to have some metal in the oil. How much or how big could signal internal damage. Small amounts can be "normal".
Looking for steps that could be taken before taking apart the engine? As it is less than 2 yrs. Passat 2007 (2.0 engine) ....
Volvo :: 03 Xc90 - No Oil Pressure Stop Engine Safely Light Coming On
03 xc90 with 83k miles.
Its got the "no oil pressure stop engine safely" light coming on when it gets up to running temps.
I am having my mechanic drop the pan, clean for sludge and replace all the seals and O-rings.
Which O-rings need to be replaced. I read somewhere there are 5, I bought the set along with the volvo sealant but need to give exact instruction to my mechanic on which seals to replace (he is not a volvo guy) and I dont remember which ones.
