Prius (2004-09) :: 2007 Car Rolls While In Park
My wife parked our 2007 Prius in the driveway tonight, which has a decent incline, but when I looked out the front window a half hour later the car had rolled into the street! She turned the power off before she got out of the car which should have automatically put it into park, and the car didn't move when she got out of the car. I'm going to bring it to the dealer tomorrow, but what it could be? why the car would start rolling after it had been parked? I've got it parked with the parking brake now, though it really shakes my trust in the car.

I'm coming up on 20K miles and I started to notice a few months ago that when I park the car it rolls a little bit more than when it was new one year ago and rolls more than my 2004 Sienna in park with 89K miles. Is this normal wear for this type of trans? It has mostly highway miles.

2006 Camry. Last winter, I ran into a pile of snow and got stuck. I accidentally switched gears from R and D without going to neutral and this is when the issue started. When I switch to Park, it won't hold anymore, it rolls (when uphill); I have to use the handbrake all the time. By the way, I have no issue starting the car, when it is in Park position.
View 10 RepliesFord Super Duty (1999-2016) :: Clicking Noise In Park Or Brake Pedal Press Down - Brake Switch Noise?
The truck in my sig. makes a clicking noise when it's in the park and I press the brake pedal down. The click is coming from somewhere up high in the steering column. It doesn't make the clicking noise in any other gear only in park. Might be normal but I don't remember hearing it before?
View 9 RepliesSonata NF (2006-10) :: Clicking Noise When Shifting From Park
My car engine is G4KD 2.0 L 2009, no shift interlocking mechanism installed (I don't have the small button near the gear box to release it) also I am able to shift from P to anything else while the car not turned on, and I can shift without the brake.
2 weeks ago, I started to hear click noise (I am not sure if it was there before, maybe it got louder) when I switch from P to R, and from N to D, my car is on 80000 Km and didn't replace the gear box oil (dealer said oil is fine).
Car run smoothly but I am curious why I have this click.
Camry :: 2005 - Car Put In Park While In Motion Now Halted With Clicking Noise
I'm teaching my cousin how to drive and today my car was put in park while the car was in motion. I'm not sure how fast we were going but it was at a parking lot. I'm going to guess at the most 10mph. The car came to halt with clicking noise, what kind of damage could this have possibly caused? She tells me she had her foot on the brake so I'm not sure if the halt came about due to brakes for because the car was in P.

I noticed today when my Touareg is running but in park, each time I step on the brake I hear a loud clicking noise coming from the shifter. I assume the noise is the safety lock engaging and disengaging that allows you to put the car in gear while the brake pedal is pressed. I never noticed the noise before but usually I have the radio on. Is it normal to be able to hear this noise?
View 2 RepliesFord - F150 :: 2002 Will Only Switch From Park When In Neutral
Last night while driving home in the rain, I cleared the windows with the wipers, and lowered the rear passenger window so that my dog could have air. I then proceeded to drive. I then lowered and raised my drivers side window and the passenger window to clear them of rain drops so that I would have an unobstructed view. I turned off the wipers, as it was only misting and then closed the rear passenger window. About 3 minutes later, I wanted to wipe off the windshield again, however, the wipers would not come on. I then played with the window buttons trying to open them, but they would not open, and the interior lights would not come on. However, the doors would lock and unlock. I thought for a second, maybe the anti-theft system engaged somehow. By this time I was sitting at an intersection - at a red light, waiting to turn left. I shut the car off, to see if something in the vehicles' computer system needed to reset itself. I waited a couple of seconds, and then restarted the engine.
By this time, the light had turned green, however, I could not get the car to switch from park to drive. I tried numerous times, but to no avail, the vehicle was stuck in park. To make a long story short, a while later after the police came, one of the officers googled the problem for a 2002 Ford F-150 truck on his car computer. He found that the vechicle had to be turned off to where the dashboard lights were on, foot pressed on the brake, and only then could the gear be switched into neutral in order to be started. Only after going through this routine was I able to shift the vehicle into drive. This is the first time this problem has ever occured. The vehicle has138,500 miles.
Ford Transmission :: 1997 F150 4.2L V6 Stuck In Park
1997 Ford F150 4.2 liter V6 with Eod transmission. I have replaced the shift actuator, the brake switch, the ignition switch and tumbler, tightened all nuts and bolts on and around the steering column shifter, and had a mechanic replace the shift cable and go through the wiring from front to back. He couldn't figure out the problem.
I recently noticed while coming to a stop on a gravel road I touched the brakes and the front brakes locked up. I have anti-lock on this truck so is this normal and could this maybe be the problem with no brake lights and not coming out of park? Just for giggles I also had to come to a sudden stop in town on pavement a couple times and the tires locked up so hard I could smell rubber burning where the tires slid.

View 1 RepliesFord - F150 :: 2003 2WD - Metallic Clicking From The Front Left Wheel
My truck has recently developed a metallic clicking from the front left wheel (as best as I can tell). I only hear it at slow speeds and it seems to start during turns. I originally thought it was a rock in the tire because I could only hear it with the windows down. The sound has progressed to something more metallic and I have checked for rocks in tire several times. What it could be?
View 3 RepliesFord - F150 :: 2004 - Occasional Ticking / Clicking Sound That Comes From Right Rear Tire
My husband's 04 F150 has an occasional ticking/clicking sound that comes from the right rear tire. It occurs in both drive and reverse, while braking or while driving and will stop with braking. We cannot establish a pattern. Brakes are good, we just checked them and they do not need to be replaced. We took it in to be evaluated, of course it did not make the clicking while they had it and they did not see anything to indicate an issue.
View 3 RepliesLexus GX 2004-09 :: Rolls Backwards When Foot Is Off The Brake / Noise
1. When I am on a hill facing up a few times when I put my foot off the brake my car starts rolling backwards like it's in neutral. Then when I put my foot on the gas there is a funny noise and it seems the gear or something happens and I get power to move forward up the hill. The noise to me is quite unnerving like it should not be happening.
2. A couple of times when I have backed up out of a parking spot, when I come to a stop I hear a noise like a spring and while I am turning the steering wheel and putting the car into drive.
Ford Excursion :: Whining Noise Coming From Underneath?
I've been hearing this whining noise for a while now and sounds like it is coming from underneath the truck somewhere. Sounds more like a power steering pump whining when turning too far on my old chevy!
It is loudest when first starting and is quite loud at times. Sound varies in pitch. I have crawled around under the truck a couple of times and could not tell where it was coming from. The resonance seems to throw the sound around. Once I start to drive, it tones down where it is not noticeable.
This past weekend, I decided to top off fuel before I changed state lines and had to pay more. was about 1/2 tank. Topped off and surprised it only took about 7 gallons. Usually it is about 10 gallons per 1/4 on the fuel guage, so I was expecting near 20 gallons.
Got back in truck and fuel gauge was just under 3/4 tank reading! I had the neck full as I didn't think 7 gallons was right, so I was suspecting the gas station pump was not working right but it was full in the neck for sure.
So, now....thinking that this whining noise is the fuel pump........ How difficult will it be if it is the fuel pump? I have about 144K miles now.

View 12 RepliesFord F-150 - 1997-2003 :: Small Vibration On Dashboard And Noise Underneath The Truck
I have a 2001 Ford F150 with 165800 miles. I just had my power steering pump, PVC valve, and serpentine belt replaced by tire kingdom this Sunday 3/2/14.
After they replaced those parts, and I picked up the truck. I noticed the truck was making some new noises, these noises occur when I brake an it sounds like a small vibration on my dashboard and there is a noise underneath the truck. the sound also get louder when I roll up and down the window and run the ac. This had never happened before the repairs.
I took it back on Thursday 3/6/14 back to the mechanic and told them about the new problems. Now they said I had a brake problem. So they replaced the calipers, brake pads and rotors. But I still have the weird noise.
The truck still needs two rear tires a new high-end ac line and a freeze plug. Would any of these cause the noise underneath the truck or the noise in the dashboard or is there something else?
Ford Excursion :: 2001 V10 - Squeaking Noise Underneath The Driver Side Floorboard
Just picked up an 01 Excursion V10 for $2900 with 170k on the odometer. Has some damage on the left quarter panel, but it runs perfectly.
Since I bought it, there has been a squeaking noise that I could feel underneath the driver's side floorboard. I figured it was body mounts. To find out if that was the case, I first sprayed both the sway bar bushings and the body mounts with some oil. The noise went away, but came back the next day.
The second time, I sprayed only the body mounts, and again the noise went away, only to return again. Aside from which, the sway bar bushings look like they were installed very recently.
So, it's the body mounts, but I've come across threads here and elsewhere that these were a common issue, but I haven't seen a fix for them. I assume new mounts would eventually develop the same noise.
What am I looking at here? Just some new mounts or do I need to do something else?
Ford Super Duty (1999-2016) :: 2003 F250 - Ticking Noise Coming From Underneath
I have a 2003 F250 4wd with a 5.4 and 6 spd and 175,000 miles. Yesterday I came out to start it and noticed it had a ticking noise coming from underneath. According to the stock gauge it had normal oil pressure and the oil looked nice and clean and was full. I checked it while running and was able to verify that it is coming from the bottom oil pan/bell housing area. Before anybody says exhaust leak, I just put on JBA headers a few months ago and verified it wasn't an exhaust leak. I was assuming it was a rod bearing so I figured I would let it get to operating temp and see what happens. Once it started getting warm it started getting quiet and finally it just stopped once it hit full operating temp. Took it for a drive and found that it does it when in gear no matter what but stops when I put it in neutral and let out on the clutch. it makes the noise in neutral with clutch pushed in, but stops as soon as you let it out.
