Ford F-150 (2009-2014) :: 2001 - Power Steering Line Leaking At 45k Miles?

Brought my 2011 Limited (6.2 so old school hydraulic power steering) in for its 45K service, and they found a weeping high pressure line. $100 special order part + 3 hours labor. This seems a little soon (to me) for PS components to be failing already, or is this a common repair? They said I could leave it alone for now and monitor it but could lose power steering while driving (safety risk).

Any history of high pressure power steering line leaks at such low mileage/age before? Does 3 hours labor sound about right?

Santa FE SM (2001-06) :: Power Steering Pump Pulley Broken

My Santa Fe has a broken power steering pump pulley. Darn thing broke right around the spindle! I can not find a replacement anywhere. I've tried to find a one new, used and at the upull lots (only one Santa Fe in at Pick n Pull dang thing was stripped clean!). The pump is easy to find but this pulley is a ghost!

Accent MC (2006-11) :: 2009 - Noise Coming From Power Steering Pulley

So I purchased a 2009 Accent hatchback about 11 months ago and so far its been great. However, recently (as in the past 2 weeks or so) I have begun noticing a strange cyclic noise developing from the engine compartment accompanied with some minor vibrations. Over time it has grown more prominent. I would rather deal with this before it becomes worse (and more costly) if its a serious issue.

Some info: I recently took a trip to North Carolina (from Florida). I also recently replaced the spark plugs before I left, so they are relatively new. The car has about 37k miles. After popping the hood and taking a look, it seems as though the noise is coming from the power steering pump/pulley area. The noise seems to match the rotations. Either way, here's a video of the noise (pardon the moving in the video, I was mainly recording for sound): [URL] ....

It may sound like normal engine operation, but it did not make that cyclic sound for the first 10 months, so it worries me. Perhaps I'm just paranoid.

Camry :: V6 Water Pump Leaking Through Its Pulley Shaft

I was hearing some sounds from my engine and opened up the timing covers to determine where the sound was coming from. It sounds exactly like the Sienna with the same 3MZ engine in this video: YouTube ....

While I didn't find the source of the noise, I did find that my water-pump is leaking. My question is, is this water-pump leaking bad enough to be replaced? I do not notice any coolant loss and never had the need to top up.

It appears from this last photo that the pump is leaking through its pulley shaft and not at the interface with the engine:

The timing belt and water-pump were changed 3 years ago with the Gates timing belt kit from RockAuto. The pump at the time didn't look that great quality in its casting compared to an Aisin pump.

I could not feel any play or hear any abnormal sounds from the pump while it was running with the timing covers off.

This is on my 2005 Lexus ES330 with the 3MZ-FE 3.3L V6 engine, same motor as the Gen 5 Camry SE V6.

Ford Aerostar :: Power Steering Fluid Leaking - Pump Replacement?

Proud owner here of a '96 3.0L RWD Aerostar Utility Van with about 138k miles, and leaking power steering fluid. At this point I'm replacing fluid from zero every time I have to drive it which is about once a week. I've located the leak and it seems to be coming from the pump/reservoir around the pressure hose. The hose is loose as in i can move it around a bit, but from what I've read, this is normal and the hose is supposed to be like that. I figure that at this mileage, with so much air going through the pump, all the crazy squealing and whining it does even when full, at this point it probably makes sense to replace the whole pump while I'm in there, as opposed to just doing the reservoir. Anyway, I'm planning to do this in a couple of weeks, and have some questions...

1) The pump - I've read on this forum that the best way to go on brand of the pump is Motorcraft.

2) Hoses - I'd like to replace the hoses coming out of the pump while I have this thing all taken apart, but I'm not exactly sure what parts to get. I know one is the pressure and one is the return, but there are variations of each based on the research I've done. The parts on the Napa site have different descriptions like "with switch port", "without switch port" "56in hose" "26in hose", and so on. Which ones I need, specifically the ones connecting directly to the pump? I havent been able to find anything in my research online, in Haynes, or Chiltons manuals.

3) Washers - Whether or not I replace the hoses, should I replace the washers at the connection point? Chilton's seems to recommend replacing them. Will they come with the new pump?

My local auto parts shop has the pulley remover/installer for me to rent so I've already got that squared away. I'm pretty sure I've covered all of my bases otherwise.

Jeep - Cherokee :: Power Steering Pump Leaking

I have a 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee which I bought used. Last oil change they told me that the power steering pump was leaking. The leak was not enough to be seen, but it did seem to make some noise every once in a while so I took it in to get a new power steering pump at the dealer. Two days after they put the new pump in, power steering fluid was pouring out on the driveway, it was a really big puddle of fluid. I had to put new fluid in to drive it five miles back to the dealer. They said that it needed a new line, they were not sure why it needed a new line, they guessed because of the high mileage, 164,000 miles.

I told them that my Mercury has 287,000 miles on it and has never had the power steering pump replaced or the line either. I have driven most every car I ever owned 300,000 miles and have never replaced a power steering pump or line. But anyway, when the Jeep was supposed to be ready, they told me that the new line blew up spraying fluid all over the shop as soon as they started the Jeep and they had to get new parts so it would take another day or two. My question is what caused the new line to blow? My thinking is there must have been something wrong with the new pump or with the installation, somehow it was outputting too much pressure, anything that could blow a new line, would blow the old line.

Avalon 2005-12 :: 2006 - Power Steering Pump Is Leaking

took the car in today for an oil change (06 xls) apparently I got a small leak coming right from the power steering pump.

Apparently that is what he is telling me - could it be from the high pressure return hose? Is it better to get the unit rebuilt or buy a new pump? (I am going to try that lucas power steering fix in the interim), is there a recall or goodwill warranty on this?

Camry :: 1998 Power Steering Pump Leaking - Groaning Sound

98 Camry, V6. Power steering pump was leaking and level was low enough that it was groaning. I replaced the pump. 2 days later, more power steering fluid on the ground. Took some searching, but found it leaking from the boot on the rack. OK, very uncommon, but I replaced the rack and did a complete flush, refilled with ATF as recommended. every cold morning since, the pump will groan and steering will be very hard until it warms up... car will then drive normal. I thought maybe the pump had gone dry from the rack leaking and had gotten damaged... replaced the pump a second time... same symptoms!? belt is tight.. Im at a complete loss now...

Subaru - Outback :: 1998 - Leaking From The Power Steering Pump And Valve Cover Gaskets

I have a 98 Subaru Legacy Outback with 133K miles. It was leaking from the power steering pump and valve cover gaskets. My husband replaced the passenger-side valve cover gasket (which involved removing the air box) and the power steering pump (which required removing the alternator). When we put the car back together and reconnected the battery, it no longer starts! It "clicks" once but won't turn-over. The car does not have an alarm system (but it was an option on this model). We've tried jumping it. The battery is about 14 months old. The alternator is about 10 months old and the starter was replaced about 10 months ago too. We've double checked the wires that were disconnected and don't think we've missed anything.

Lexus SC430 :: Rubber O-ring On Power Steering Pump Solenoid Valve Leaking Fluid

My car is in the shop and has a leak at the Power Steering Pump. The rubber O-ring on the Power Steering Pump Solenoid Valve (p/n 4417030120) is leaking fluid. The Solenoid Valve is ok, just the Rubber O-ring is bad, but it looks like you have to buy a complete new Solenoid Valve to get the O-ring (a lotta bucks).

I did find a Lexus Power Steering Pump rebuild kit online at, but I can't see if it includes the solenoid valve o-ring or not. Have to replace their solenoid valve o-ring?

Santa FE SM (2001-06) :: Power Steering Pump Is Leaking Fluid Onto Serpentine And Timing Belts Causing Them To Swell

So I have multiple issues that all seem to stem from a power steering leak. According to the dealership, the PS pump is leaking fluid onto the serpentine and timing belts causing them to swell. This in turn has something to do with the AC compressor not working but they wouldn't give me details. When I looked at the clutch wheels on the AC compressor, there seems to be a good amount of rust in between the two wheels. I can't say that I trust the dealership because the original owner was bought out by a larger group that is known to just say "replace everything". I usually do most of my own work on my 95 Tacoma, so I'm no stranger to import v6 motors.

Ford F-150 (2009-2014) :: Turns Over Very Slowly Or Not At All / Battery Drain

I have a problem with battery drain with my 2013 F150 with ecoboost engine. If the truck is not used for two or three days it turns over very slowly or not at all. Charged the battery then drove it. I have checked the drain with all off and it seems to be 210 milliamps, then after about 10 or so minutes the drain drops to about 20mA. What the drain should be when vehicle is off for several minutes?

Ford F-150 (2009-2014) :: 2010 - Surges When Moving Slowly Forward With The Brakes On?

2010 F150 for the past 15,000 miles I have been experiencing a nasty repetitive surge when moving slowly forward with the brakes on, as you would do going through a drive through. The truck shakes when this happens and is very noticeable. Ford reprogrammed the transmission module, and now the surge happens twice as fast. What was the remedy? This is my first Ford after only GM products for the past 30 years.......and I hope they can find a resolution soon.
