Touareg :: Radiator Fans Stays On After Ignition Shut Off - Kills Battery
Believe an engine temperature sensor is bad. I took it in to get a code read, and they said it could be either temp sensor or fan switch, but didn't know which one without newer software.
Codes are
19537 - Engine Temperate too Low
P3081 - 008 - Implausible Signal
I've checked the fuse legend to see if there is a fuse I can pull, but none of them marked fan seem to kill it after the car is off, so that I can save some battery power.
I believe that I have narrowed it down to the engine coolant temperature sensor. What is the level of job this is to replace? From a parts location manual, it looks like it is in the Thermostat housing, but I'm not sure where that is.
Celica :: 94 - Key Sticks In The Ignition
Before I go replacing stuff and taking stuff apart. My 94 Celica key sticks in the ignition. It will turn to accessory and run and starts just fine. The key won't turn back to release. Unless the battery is unhooked.I figured this out after killing my battery then recharging it. The steering wheel also doesn't lock. I am unsure if they are related but unhooking my battery to get my key out is annoying.

Intermittent problem: put car in park and key will turn to off position but not "lock" and therefore cannot be removed. Subaru specialist could not replicate problem, Theories include need a new factory cut key, dirty console, cylinder/steering column tumbler, solenoid, switch , but we think it is some connection between the shifting into Park. Speedometer was replaced about 2 years ago--possibly jumbled something ??
View 2 RepliesPrius (2004-09) :: Pinging Key Fob Kills Battery?
I have a fairly low mileage 2005 Prius I purchased private sale about 6 months ago... so still getting used to a few things. The previous owners had to replace the hybrid battery at about 45,000 mi. From what I understand, that's pretty unheard of. The reason that was given that the battery died was that the Prius was in their garage un-driven for a couple weeks while they were on vacation and the car had been pinging the key fob (close by in the house) the whole time. The associated details were a little fuzzy, but the owner has a note written in the manual about a certain combo of buttons to hit if you'll be away from the car for awhile, but the fob will still be physically close to the car. This combo turns off the hybrid battery (??)
Ok, so my question... How common is this? How long is 'long' that I should be concerned about leaving the car? Is it really best practice to keep your keep fob more than so-many feet from the car to reduce the chance of this happening?
Ford F-150 (2004-2008) :: No Power To The Starter Solenoid
Yesterday after work, i got in my truck and it started right up, no problem. my stereo has been giving me some fits the past few days, looks like everything is on but no sound, and was thinking it might be a fuse so i proceeded to shut off my truck and take a quick look at the fuse box. didn't find anything quickly fuse wise, so i got back in the truck to go home and turned the key and nothing. no whine from the starter, no click click click like a dead battery, but i do here a single click from the relay switch as i left the case off to do a more thorough investigation on the stereo when i got home. anyway.. here is all i have ran through.
1. Made sure the battery is good, even tried jumping it for good measure..took cables off and made sure they had clean connections.
2. Switched out the relay, and fuses related to the starter in fuse box.
3. Put the truck in Neutral, thinking safety switch.. wiggled it around while trying to start it as well
4. Crawled under the truck, took a screw driver and bypassed the switch all together to make sure it wasn't the starter, starter kicked in like it was new, but no truck start. (key was in the on position)
5. Checked the solenoid post with a test light to see if it had power on key turn, nothing.
6. Checked the fuse box and surrounding wires to make sure i didn't bump anything when taking off the cover..
From all of this it sounds like some safety switch that isn't giving power, otherwise i would have thought the truck would have started when i bypassed the switch on the solenoid. Just seems very odd the timing of it and i have not had any previous issues like this.. just out of the blue, literally less than 5 minutes from starting the truck without issue.

My parents have an 07 f150 with remote start and for some reason it will not work, it locks the doors and turns the key on but it doesnt turn the engine over, we brought it to a local dealership and they just unplugged it and plugged it back in and it started working... but later down the road, like 150 kilometers my mom got out to go shopping and it wouldn't work again, does this mean the whole module has to be replaced or is there a quick fix to this, it looks like the stock ford remote start but it has a separate keychain for the button, if it has to be fixed, any instructions on how to do it?

2007 Ford F150, Remote starter no longer works. after pressing remote (4) times. 3 with horn blast , it is to start. the lights flash, interior dash lights go on as if trying to start. It does this every 10 seconds or so till I hit brake. If I use the remote with the key inserted it starts right up. I had just replaced the battery previously.

2008 Ford F-250 with a 5.4 Liter V-8 3-valve engine and automatic transmission.
Running down the road at 44-MPH. Pulling 5,000lbs. Engine died just after turning on the air conditioner. (Not sure this is relevant.)
Would not start. Turned the key - the starter would engage, but the engine would only turn maybe a quarter turn. Try it again engine turns. Try it again and now it only clicks. So, I
-Replaced the battery. Same symptom. Will only turn the engine 1/4 turn.
-Replaced the starter. Same symptom.
-Checked oil. Clean. No Water. No gas smell. (200 miles since last oil change)
-Checked coolant. Clean. No Oil.
-Charged the new battery and tried again. Same symptom.
-Checked and cleaned all grounds and battery cables. Same symptom.
-Checked that the transmission is shifting though the gears. Seems fine.
-Removed serpentine belt. Check all pulleys, and accessories that are driven by the belt. Everything spins quietly and freely.
-I put the truck in neutral and tried to spin the crank pulley with a 2 breaker bar. It wouldn't budge.
Am I missing something? I fear the engine is seized or hydro-locked. If hydro-locked, wouldn't I see signs in the fluids? Can the pistons be hydrolocked with fuel? Not sure what to try next.
Ford F-150 (2004-2008) :: Fx4 Won't Turn Over - Starter Relay Only Clicks?
I have a 2004 f150 fx4. Drove it home and parked it. Next morning wouldn't turn over. When trying to start the starter relay clicks but no noise from starter. Battery light and wrench light are on. I thought maybe battery was low but when I hooked up charger gauge showed good battery. What do I do next? Also there is no "theft" light...at all not even when I first turn key on.
View 1 RepliesFord Super Duty (1999-2016) :: 2008 - EGR Valve Sticks?
Quick question, 2008 F250, 6.4. If the EGR Valve sticks/malfunctions, can this cause the truck to go into constant/frequent regens? I am asking because I am about to replace my turbo for a seal failure. The only code thrown before turbo failure was EGR flow insufficient. I want to figure out what may have caused the seal failure so that I can get that fixed before I blow through another turbo.
View 10 RepliesFord F-150 (2004-2008) :: Truck Start By Jumping The Wires On Starter
I just got this truck about a month ago now and today it started fine and when I got home from work, I ate dinner and then went out and it started fine and once i got home i let it sit for an hour and then went to do more errand and it wouldn't start. I checked fuses and what not it all looks ok. I got the truck to start by jumping the wires on the starter. What might be causing the truck to do this? as i say today is the first time this has happened?
View 8 RepliesFord F-150 (2004-2008) :: Engine Turns Over And The Starter Engages But It Won't Fire
My 2008 F150 5.4l SCrew wouldn't start this evening. The engine turns over and the starter engages, but it won't fire. Oddly enough the starter stays engaged after I take my hand off the ignition! I have to physically turn the key off for it to quit (didn't want to burn out the starter). The culprit may be the wet weather....it's been a lot milder today and we've had some freezing rain that turned to drizzle. My truck has only done this once before (last year I think). I eventually got it to start tho.

I have a 2006 F150 STX auto trans with the 4.2L V6 that has been having intermittent starting problems. It has 98,000 miles on it. It will start fine 99% of the time but sometimes when I turn the key the starter will grind once or twice then it can go a few weeks with out doing it at all. Then also sometimes it will crank turning over for several seconds but wont start. Then it starts fine the rest of the time. This has happened several times but only happens once every few weeks or so. Just trying to see if it needs a new starter or if its something else. It has a new battery.

I just put a brand new engine in my 2004 f-150 4X4. Truck ran fine for two days. Yesterday I started the truck as usual put it in reverse. As I was backing up it just stopped running no warning nothing just stopped. All electrical still working fine gauges radio etc. When I turn the key I get nothing no starter nothing. The security light continues to flash slowly even when the key is turned on. Basically the best way I can describe it is. The truck is acting like it is in gear when I turn the key. And the odometer reads check gauges.

The truck seems to continue to crank sometimes even after I let the key go. Kinda like it's having a difficult time starting and NEEDS to be cranked a wee bit more and takes over for me.
