Ford F-150 (2004-2008) :: Disable Door Chime?
How do I disable the chime (2008 F150) that sounds when the key is in the ignition and the door is open? I'd like to keep the chime that sounds when the lights are left on and the door is open. Is it possible to accomplish both objectives?
And, on the off chance that someone from Ford ever looks at these forums: It would sure be nice if you designed the audible warnings with either a timer in the circuit (so it would sound for a few seconds and then stop); or, provide a cancel button for the chime (as is common in commercial and military aircraft).

The door chime, yes the door chime. I have searched fairly extensively using the search tool, on a way to stop the chime when the door is open. I could care less about it chiming when you put the key in the ignition or when your seatbelt is unbuckled (because I always wear my seatbelt you seatbelt Nazis). I am curious if that little switch that is pressed when the door is closed, that stops the chiming, controls anything other than the door, the headlights and the interior lights. I don't care if the lights don't come on inside the car when I open the door.
I was considering taking the switch out and grounding the sensor so the car thinks the door is always shut. I am regularly cleaning out my car because my children think its a trash can, and I like to listen to the radio when I do so. I like to have all the doors open when I'm sitting in the car scrubbing only god knows what off of every surface of my car, so I can get a nice breeze to keep me cool. Don't tell me to "roll down your stupid windows" or "just close the driver door", I don't want too; enough said.
Ford F-150 (2004-2008) :: 2005 - All Door Speakers Stop Working Suddenly?
So I just replaced the stock head unit in my 2005 ford f150 with a brand new Sony one. Install went pretty smooth and I had every thing working pretty quick. So about an hour after the install I got in my truck to drive home and everything was working fine until about 5 minutes into driving all the door speakers just stopped working.
(Music was not blaring). Sub still works but that's it. No sound from the door speakers what so ever. I checked the fuse and the head unit. And all the fuses related to audio in the fuse box. Everything looks normal. Head unit powers on fine. Just no sound from any door speakers. The only thing that plays sound is the sub.

I guess not ALL of the time, but pretty often when I turn off my truck and remove the key from the ignition, I get the "key is in the ignition" chime, and I'm not allowed to lock my truck.

About 6 weeks ago my 2004 4.6 scab had a glitch in that when you got going the seat belt warning chimes came on, to clear it stop at the next junction turn off re start and away you go. Now today its moved a step further on, the airbag not working light flashes and then stops on, but no seat belt chimes?

I thought these simply pull straight out and off, but mine might be rusted in place. I soaked the front facing area around the axle with Kroil and then tried jolting it out by tapping it with a rubber mallet. No success
What's the trick?

I recently got myself a 2007 F150 XLT Supercab, love the truck, but I find myself needing to make a few mods. First up is the floor console. This is the small console sits atop the hump between the jump seat and the dash. It contains two cup holders and the 4x4 floor shifter.
First how does one remove the 4x4 shift, you need to in order to get the floor console off, the console itself lifts straight up, but the boot for the shifter is attached to it, so the only way I can see to remove it. However I can't for the life of me figure out how to remove it.

I have a 2007 F150 XL that has the power windows and locks, I have the sensor on the dash for the auto headlights so I'm curious if I just need the auto headlight switch for this to work on my truck. I need to remove the headlight switch so I can try to connect the DB/OG and the DB/WH wires to see if this will make the circuit complete for the auto headlights. Anyway, I don't have a manual. There's a lot to love about the new diesel trucks, but the idiot bells and chimes are driving me nuts! I don't need to be reminded that my key is in the ignition, my brake is engaged, my belt is disconnected or my truck is in reverse. How can I disable all these incredibly irritating chimes and gongs? Man, I sure miss the simple idiot features of the early 80's. They were so easy to eliminate with one wire snip... This bothers us enough to make us regret buying the truck, especially when we're running lots of short errands, because we get to go through all the chime rituals every few minutes.
