Ford Excursion :: Will Not Start When Truck Is Not Parked Leveled?
I just bought the truck and the previous owner said sometimes when the truck is parked in an angle, like in a drive way it will not start unless you use a screw driver and touch both posts on the solenoid. It happened to me today and I do not like it and need to find the cause? Why it would do this?
View 9 RepliesFord F-150 - 1997-2003 :: Engine Compartment Caught Fire While Parked In Driveway
My neighbor's 2000 5.4L F150 caught fire under the hood last night while parked in his driveway nosed up to the garage door. I wasn't home at the time so didn't see it 'til this morning; at first I thought the hood had blown off but then realized it had MELTED! He was inside at the time, heard a soft "WHUMP", went outside to find his truck on fire and called 9-1-1. The small windows in the garage door are gone (blown out?), and the garage door and gable all the way to the peak are scorched. His 'Toon parked next to the truck ain't looking real good either.
Awhile back, seems like there was a problem with Cruise Control switches on master cylinders causing fires; anyone have any info on this and if true, what FoMoCo did about it?
The fire dept. is supposed to tow his truck to where-ever an investigation can be done, but who knows how long that will take or if a valid cause will ever be found.
Ford 6.7L Power Stroke Diesel :: Smelling Exhaust Fumes In Cab Of Truck When At A Stoplight Or Parked In Driveway
Recently I have been smelling exhaust fumes in the cab of my truck when at a stoplight or parked in the driveway. When driving, the smell tends to go away. This occurs with the windows up and the climate control on auto. I can also smell this when I shut down the truck and exit. I am looking for anything that may be causing this. Hoping not to have to take it to the dealer.
View 14 RepliesPhaeton :: Front Air Suspension Failure When Parked In Driveway
Last night I was sitting in my living room when I heard what I thought was a tire blowing out in my driveway - loud pop/hiss. Went outside but didn't see any flat tires, so I went to bed. This morning I got in the car and started backing out of the driveway but got the alert "Vehicle Too Low" - got out and saw that my front tires were almost touching the inside of the wheel wells. Trying to change the ride height via the suspension button has no effect at all.
I'm super bummed - I've always said that because of the cost to repair, a strut failure in the amazing air suspension would probably be what did this car in. But I didn't expect it to happen so soon - I'm "only" at 129k miles. It happened in my driveway and not 60 minutes earlier while I was doing 75 MPH on the highway.

Honda - Accord :: Vibration Noise Every Few Minutes When Parked In Driveway?
My daughter's 02 Honda Accord is making a sound like a phone on vibrate every few minutes as it sits parked in our driveway. Not sure if this is pertinent but the driveway is sloped so the rear is higher than the front. I've search everywhere to try to locate the sound (thinking it was a cell phone left in the car) but it seems to be coming from under the middle to rear of the car. Could it be the gas tank pump going spastic?
View 1 RepliesPassat (B5) :: 2001 - Making Noise As Oil Isn't Rushing After Parked At Slanted Driveway
I just bought a b5.5 Passat 5-speed glx... fully loaded, a nice package. It has 67k. I just did the timing belt, valve cover gaskets, and cam tensioner adjuster gaskets. I park on a slanted driveway so the car sits on an angle all night. Only when i start up first in the morning, it makes the noise as if the oil isn't rushing up through the engine all the way, and makes the clicking noise in the motor..but any other startup throughout the day is fine.
Only the first in the am. you guys think its just because i park on a hill type driveway? What else it could be.. After I start driving for like 10 minutes, I also hear like a little whining/vacuum noise more noticeably in first gear, idk if that has anything to do with it? I haven't checked the oil level since i got the car back from the shop, but i know i should maybe they forgot to add an extra quart or something.
Camry :: 1999 Loud Whining Sound And Won't Start When Parked On A Slanted Driveway
My '99 Camry 4 cylinder won't start. I parked it on a slanted driveway and when I turn the key it makes a loud whining sound and does nothing. The car runs great and I never had any major issues with it.
View 2 RepliesLexus ES 2013+ :: 2015 - Popping Sound When Moving Slowly Over Angled Surface Like Driveway
I bought a 2015 ES350 in August and have a couple of weird noises.
First is what sounds like either door rubber seal on body rubber seal or window on rubber seal noise over certain types of bumps. Is this common? I can live with this until I bring it in for its first service, but it might be a simple fix I can do.
The second is more of a concern. When I'm moving slowly over an angled surface like a driveway that might cause some "twist" of the car, there can be a loud pop sound. Since it does not happen very often, it is very difficult to locate, and I'm sure its one of those things the dealer service department will never hear. When it happened over the weekend, it almost sounded like it was coming from the roof. This morning, it sounded like it might have come from the rear driver side door, but it is hard to tell.
Saturn - Sl :: 2000 - Moving When Off And Parked
Over the past couple days my 5-speed 2000 Saturn SL1 has been doing something very strange. The other night around 11:30 pm I heard a big crash in my garage. I ran out to see what it was, and the car had moved forward about 4 feet, knocking down some boxes in the process. The car was in first gear, and had been off for at least 6 hours. The freaky thing is it moved forward against the grade of the garage. That’s right, the car was off, in first gear, with no one inside, and moved uphill on its own. A couple days later it did the same thing but with the emergency break on! It crashed into my parents garage door. The car managed to move up a steep driveway with the e-brake engaged. Again it moved about 4 feet.
View 19 RepliesSonata I45 (YF - 2011+) :: Intermittent Power Loss When Entering Moving Traffic From A Side Street Or Driveway
I recently (3/3/14) purchased a 2011 Sonata Limited 2.0 with only 6750 miles. I've owned it for 3 weeks and put 2000 miles on it. So far, lots to say good about it but one very disturbing quirk- on occasion, when accelerating from a stop in traffic or when entering moving traffic from a side street or driveway, there is a sudden loss of power. This power loss lasts from about one second to as long as 3-4 seconds before the engine recovers and the car resumes normal acceleration. I've taken it to my local Hyundai dealership twice with this complaint, but the defect is intermittent (technician was unable to duplicate it at the time) and there is no defect code to be found.
View 3 RepliesFord - Explorer :: Tranny Shudder / Whine Coming From Under The Truck When Turning Into Driveway
First off, I just traded another vehicle for a 97 mountaineer, 5.0 v8 AWD with about 171k miles on it. Runs and drives real nice, but on occasion under normal acceleration i get a slight shudder when it shifts into high gear. The tranny fluid does look and smell a bit old, but not burnt. I plan on changing it if you think it would fix the problem and not cause more.
Also, I think the ball joints are shot. The camber is in on the front tires and i get some pretty good clunks when I go over bumps in the road. Steering wheel is tight. I jacked it up and tried wiggling the tires but i couldn't get them to move like that. I'm assuming ball joints still though right? And if so, how hard of a job is that for a DIY'er?
Also i noticed a bit of a whine coming from under the truck when turning into my driveway. Transfer case I'm assuming? What could cause a slight whine and how do i fix it? I plan on changing the fluid in that too.
Ford - Explorer :: 1998 - No Start When Parked Nose Down With 1/4 Tank Of Gas
My '98 was running fine. It had 272 miles on the tank of gas (from full) when I parked it nose down in the driveway last night. Went to start it at 5:40 in the morning and it would crank fine but wouldn't start. I'm thinking all kinds of things could be wrong. Finally checked for fuel at the fuel rail and nothing. Woke up the wife to assist. Had her turn the key to "ON" and the fuel pump sounded dry.
Put in a couple gallons of gas I had for the lawn mower and it fired up. Gas gauge was about 1/4 on level ground before adding gas. I talked to everyone at work who has an Explorer and they all have had the same thing happen. I'm hoping the fuel pump didn't get damaged from running dry.
I've never had this happen with my Ranger. It happened once on my Aerostar, but it was extremely low on gas and I let it sit idling in the driveway for a long time to bleed the cooling system. Normally, I get gas at 1/4 tank.
Ford - Explorer :: 2004 - Driver Side Door Do Not Work When Vehicle Is Parked
My locks on the driver's door do not work when the vehicle is parked. The locks work find from the other doors, the keypad and the remote. Also door ajar light comes on. When the vehicle is moving the locks work fine.
I replace the lock switch, but it didn't make any difference. I loosen the three screws holding the mechanish sprayed with lots to WD40 and moved the mechanism around a little, it worked a couple of times, but then back to nothing.
Thinking about replacing the door ajar switch, but not sure of the relationship to the lock.
Ford - Explorer :: 2003 - Humming Rotating Sound Out Of Front End When Moving
I have an 03 Exp 4x4 Limited with 4.6L V8 with 167K on the clock. I'm getting a kind of humming rotating sound out of the front end when moving. The frequency definitely goes with the wheel rotation speed and the noise is the same with the trans engaged and when coasting in neutral. The noise is present at all speeds but becomes more of a humming sound as the speed increases at highway speed.
I've had both front wheel bearing hubs replaced (they were completely shot), brake pads and rotors replaced, and just had new tires. The rotating sound is still there though. What else is there that could be the cause? Is there another set of bearings somewhere in the front end?
Ford - Explorer :: 2008 - Seats Moving And Dome Light Coming On While Driving
I have an issue with my seat moving and the dome light coming on while driving. This happened several times and I checked the fuses and for a possible loose connection. When I jiggle the key in the ignition the seat would start to move. I was trying to replicate the issue. Today the seat moved and the light came on but this time the truck shut off... I am thinking it maybe something in the ignition....

I have a 2001 Sport Trac. I was hooking up my boat, and went to put it into "R" and heard something that sounded like plastic break. The automatic door locks does not lock when the vehicle starts moving. Some of the lights on the dash and doors don't work either.
