Ford F-150 - 1997-2003 :: Truck Won't Communicate With Code Reader
Truck had a rich on bank 2 code about a month ago, I cleared it and the service engine light stayed off for quite some time.
Last friday on the way home from work the truck started shaking badly right from idle, and at one point on the freeway the service engine started flashing. I couldn't pull over as I was on a bridge but once I dropped my speed the light stayed on but the flashing stopped.
I went to plug the truck in today and first shot it didn't communicate with the code reader at all, I talked to someone who told me that the cigerette lighter fuse is also the OBD port fuse, I pulled a fuse from somewhere else and plugged the reader in again. This time it started communicating with the truck but didn't display any codes while all the while the truck is miss firing and the service engine light is lit up on the dash.
One other weird thing: The fuse had an LED indicator to show that it is blown, when I push the cig lighter in the led gets a hell of a lot brighter, if there is always power drawn through the circuit shouldn't the LED be constantly bright all the time? I'm wondering if there is a short somewhere. Where to look next??
Ford - Explorer :: 2005 XLT 4.0L - System Charging Failure
I had my alternator and battery die on me in Dec 2015 and replaced both. Vehicle ran perfectly fine until this Sept 2016. First thing to happen was the battery light came on and then the System Charging Failure message and the tone came on and off intermittently. I took it to my garage and they tested and said the alternator was defective that they replaced in Dec 2015. It was showing 9V.
So they replaced it again free of charge with another rebuilt alternator. Within 30 min leaving the garage the system charging failure light was back on and again i lost charge to the point where everything was shutting down to the point i even lost the gauge cluster. Took it back to the garage and they checked the plug at the alternator and said it was fine. Then they said the belt was loose.
So they replaced the belt, the belt tentioner, and a pulley. Within 20 min the lights were all back on again and I was losing charge and all the things started to shutdown again. Where I picked up the car at 5PM on a Friday they had left and wont be back till Monday. So I am asking here....what is going on??? What else is there to look at or replace to fix this charging error???
Ford A/C :: 2000 Explorer XLT - Thermostat Failure In Less Than 75k Miles
This makes the third Auto Zone thermostat that has failed in less than 75k miles. Who makes a good thermostat? The first was bad out of the box. Who's have you had good luck with?

Ford - Explorer :: 2002 XLT - Front Wiper Failure
My 2002 Explorer XLT recently experienced a front wiper failure. Initial indications started a few months ago. When trying to turn the wipers on to the intermittent position, nothing would happen. Turning the switch to low or hi then back to intermittent would allow the intermittent to work OK. Issue seemed to be occasional (trying not to overuse intermittent).
A couple days ago, daughter takes off to meet pals, comes back saying wipers died completely, won't move, won't park, no response to any switch position. I checked it out and researched some of the relevant threads here. My findings thus far:
Front wiper int/lo/hi positions do not work
Front washer pump works fine
Rear wiper switch positions all work fine
High beam, low beam and flash-to-pass work fine
Left and right turn signals work fine.
I am figuring the MFS is probably not the problem.
Looking in the owners manual it seems that fuse #8 protects front and rear wash pump relays and front wiper motor relay. Since front and rear wash pumps actuate fine, I figure fuse #8 is OK and the pump relays (#4 & #6) are OK.
Fuse #20 protects the GEM and Memory Module. Since I am not experiencing any issues with dash lights, idiot lights, chimes, locks or other GEM associated items, I am guessing fuse #20 is OK and the GEM is OK.
This leads me to relays 54 (run/park) and 59 (hi/lo). Since the wipers will not run or park, I am guessing that the run/park relay is having an issue. I presume that the intermittent function is cotrolled by the GEM based on the Intermittent switch position
Am I missing anything or overlooking some complexity that should change my logic? Is it likely for the MFS to fail only the front wiper portion of the controls?
Camry :: Check VSC Warning On The Dash - Error Codes U0100 And U0101
I have a 2008 Aurion (NZ/AU version of the Camry V6), and I am frequently getting the Check VSC warning on the dash. So then I bought a bluetooth OBD2 adapter, plugged it in and it returned the error codes U0100 and U0101 which is apparently a network issue though I don't know exactly what that pertains to.

Replacing the timing chains and tensioners on an SOHC Explorer, only to have the tensioners fail again after only a few thousand miles? I'm a pretty experienced back yard mechanic and have rebuilt several engines over the years with great results, but this one has me stumped. The only part of the instructions I did not do was to remove the valve springs, but everything was lined up as it should have been using the special tools required to set the timing. I really like the truck, but don't know if it's worth fixing if this is just going to happen again.
View 3 RepliesFord - Explorer :: 2002 - Driver Side Window Failure Suddenly And Without Warning
The driver's window suddenly, and without warning, collapsed and fell into the door while driving. Fortunately, it didn't shatter.
I pulled the cover and found that the lift cable ball for the fwd track had apparently come out of its receptacle allowing the window to free fall. I hate to just reinstall it as I fear it will happen again and shatter the window.
I heard that possibly Ford has redesigned the cable bracket or some part of the system so that the cable ball can't come loose. Need to know anything about a redesigned bracket or a good way to secure the cable ball? This thing is very difficult to reach and work on, especially for a guy with fat arms!
Ford Excursion :: 2000 - Can't Communicate With ECM
I am having trouble with my 2000 Excursion 7.3. It died on my wife this morning, but it started right back up and made it home(4 miles). Figured it was the CPS but when i went to hook up the code reader, it just kept saying that i needed to connect it to the vehicle first. I verified that the reader was working on both my other vehicles. Then had to go to work. I wondering if my ECM is going bad?
View 8 RepliesFord F-150 (2004-2008) :: Compressor Will Not Communicate With AC Control Head?
Compressor won't engage and cool. Mechanic checked system and said ac control head is bad and it cost like 800.00. But when I go and search the part they are like 150-200... Did I miss understand what part is called. He said he checked the compressor with a scanner and the compressor will not communicate with the head... said he thinks compressor shorted out the head. He also jumped the compressor but it still would not work.. Any clue what part I should look for?
View 5 RepliesFord 7.3L Power Stroke (1999-2003) :: Scanner Won't Communicate With Computer
I am trying to run some diagnostics and get codes for my truck. Problem is the scanner won't communicate with the trucks computer. It's the usb elm 327connector and Iam using the forscan program.
Changed to ciggar lighter fuse. still not working. I think the previous owner had a edge program in it idk if that might of fried the pcm or is causing it not to read right? Do I need a better connector or are the pins inside the trucks communicater bad ?
Ford Brakes/Suspension :: ABS Code C1288 On Brake Scanner / Circuit Failure?

Ford 6.7L Power Stroke Diesel :: HPFP Failure - Code P0087 And P21b0
My hpfp just blew up 2 weeks ago. I'm still waiting to hear if my ford extended warentee will pay for it. What was weird for me was I had a p0087 code thrown about an hour before the p21b0 code. I had a 5sec warning of reduce power, then pull over now message, then it died before I could get over. All service down by ford, 48k miles on my 2011. I'm not happy that the truck left me on the side of the road with the 5th wheel in tow. Having a second failure? Not sure if I want to keep the truck now or not. Sounds like even the newer trucks are failing as well. I would have thought they would have this fixed by now.
View 4 RepliesFord 7.3L Power Stroke (1999-2003) :: Hydra Chip Installed - Cannot Communicate With PCM?
Title says it, I just installed my Hydra Chip, now my edge says it cant communicate with PCM. I have checked all the connections on the edge, all is good. I planned on just using the Edge only for gauges. Will it not work anymore now that I have a Hydra? If not I will just sell it and buy an Edge Insight, so long as that will work.
I think its the Edge EVO 2, its this one.
Ford F-150 (2004-2008) :: Code P1237 - Fuel Pump Secondary Circuit Failure
ok i was just driving my 2004 ford f150 truck and it stopped running. I turned the key and it started back up again and then while on idle it stopped again. I took it too auto zone and it showed a code of p1237 which as far as i can see says fuel pump secondary circuit failure. does that mean i need a new fuel pump and how hard is it to replace.
View 1 RepliesFord 7.3L Power Stroke (1999-2003) :: IDM Failure Code And High Side Open Bank 1 And 2
Today I just installed a brand new IDM and after running the Injector Buzz Test test, I received codes: P1298 Injector Drive Module Failure, P1293 Injector High Side Open - Bank 1, and P1294 Injector High Side Open - Bank 2. How a new IDM could throw these codes?
When running the KOEO test I received codes P0605 Injector Control Module Read Only Memory (ROM) Error, P1298, P1293, & P1294.
My engine is still missing but the engine is running a heck of a lot better after replacing the IDM and injector 8 has a rotational velocity of about 3%
Saturn - Vue :: BCM Cannot Communicate With ECM
I have a 2003 Saturn Vue that will start and run then die after 2 seconds or so. I thought we needed to reset the security, but the Security light never comes on. I get both the service and the service with a wrench. I put it on a computer and we get the U2107 code. Can a weak battery be the culprit? I cleared the code and it started then as soon as I turn it off, the code is back and it starts then dies. I'm told that it needs a BCM, but the code indicates that the BCM cannot communicate with the ECM.
View 1 RepliesPrius (2004-09) :: Scantool Can't Communicate With The Car
I went to a local toyota today to have the brake fluid changed and their scantool couldn't communicate with the car.
Now, I wanted to ask a few questions.
1) Is there a separate communication ecu that handles the diagnostics port?
2) Is there a fuse that could have been broken?
To give a few more details, the car is a 2004 gen II prius. It has an lpg system installed. The lpg ecu reads the fuel trims through the diagnostics port all the time.
Camry :: 1999 - Code P0340 CMP Circuit Failure
My mother has a 1999 Camry 4cyl. that has code P0340. She says that she was driving down the road and felt like a misfire, saw the MIL turn on. When she let off the gas, she said the car stalled. It is a crank no start issue now. I was able to pull the code, but really am not familiar with Toyotas in General. I am mechanically inclined but do not have access to media such as All Data or a Service manual. Do this is most likely the sensor itself or more of an ECU issue?
View 10 RepliesPrius (Gen 1) :: 2001 - Keep Getting Code P3001 With All The Lights / ECU Failure
I have a 2001 prius that I bought from a garage . To get to the point, it had a dead battery pack so I put a good used one in. It will start and run but I keep getting code p3001 which indicates a bad battery ecu. I replaced the battery ecu to the original one that was in the car ,but I still keep getting the code along with all the lights. I did some looking and was told to replace the HV. ecu which I also replaced ,but it did not solve anything. I unplugged a harness while it was running and than got code p3100 which indicates HV. ecu failure.. So I am not sure what is going on ,talked to toyota tech and he said it does not need to be reprogrammed ,but you have to buy a new one as the vin # in the ecu will not match up..
