Ford - Explorer :: 2000 - Theft Light Stays On

I have a 2000 Explorer Sport. Sometimes when I start it the "Theft" light stays on. If I kill the engine and restart the light goes out.

Ford - Explorer :: 2000 Truck Slows Down To 5 MPH While Stopping At A Light

2 parts to this problem, Just changed the brakes/rotors, drums, shoes all around again, but still have this problem.

1. While stopping at a light when the truck slows down to 5mph or so the petal seems to go soft and the abs kicks in and the truck seems to carry on another 5-10ft further. It slows down from hwy speeds normally but just when it comes down almost a complete stop the abs will kick on in very fast pulse and keeps rolling for a few more ft. Even on dry surfaces.

2. Sometimes on slippery surfaces (gravel roads/rain/snow) it seems like the rear brakes lock at low speeds when coming to a stop.

Just thinking of disconnecting the abs sensors to all wheels......

Explorer :: 2000 Ford O/D Light Start Flashing After Driving 3-8 Miles From Starting Out

My 2000 Ford Explorer O/D off light starts flashing after driving it after 3-8 miles from starting out. After shutting it off, it resets itself. It seems to stick between 2nd and 3rd (automatic trans) because I get a surge on my RPMs. I took it to two places, spent $200.00 and the problem remains. The tranny shop actually changed a "range sensor" and thought it was fixed. Nope - O/D off started flashing before I even got back home. I've been looking on the internet and it seems that alot of explorer owners have been having the same types of problems. The shops I have talked to have no idea other than rebuild my transmission. It only has 46,000 miles on it! It seems to me that the overdrive is not kicking in when needed and the light comes on.

Ford Super Duty (1999-2016) :: 2000 F350 - Softer Ride On Leaf Springs

I have a 2000 F350 that was once a work horse. Its now just my daily. The leaf springs in the rear have 2 broken on each on and the front need to be replaced due to 344K miles on them too. My question is how do I soften up my ride on leaf springs though? Theres a local shop that will do the work, but my rears have 7 leafs / front 2. It used to tow daily but I dont tow anything with it. could I go to 5 in the rear to soften it?

Ford Super Duty (1999-2016) :: 2000 - Extremely Hard Ride - Steering Wheel Jerky Over Bump?

I'm completely aware a lifted truck will not ride factory and most likely ride harder. But this is ridiculous.

So I bought a 8" super lift for my F250 7.3 2000, although the price is very cheap at that shipped to my door debating if I have messed up either with the brand or somewhere because I feel like I went from a casual ride in my lovely 7.3 to feeling like a horse carriage of a few century's ago.

Lift is setup with lift leaf springs in the front, one add a leaf in the rear with a block, and 4 new shocks and all the other hardware included to do the lift.

I'm wondering if it's possible the springs are installed wrong, or the shocks are just that bad or if there a weird issue I've over looked.

Tire pressure is set to 35-40 psi all around on toyo open country mts, (which I was running before the lift so that hasn't changed) but I mean this is so stiff that when I hit a bump my steering wheel jerks and I feel like my suspension has absolutely no flex in it. Debating on returning to stock or not at this point...

Ford - Explorer :: 2000 - Engine Vibration Beginning At About 2000 Rpm In Park

I have been picking at an engine vibration for more than a year.

I have a '00 Explorer 302 V8 installed in an '82 Volvo. This engine/transmission has not been abused and only has 15k miles since it left the Ford factory. It was found intact on a pallet in dry storage. Everything was there as from Ford from the fan to the transmission output bushing. There is an engine vibration beginning about 2000 rpm in PARK so the problem is not in the transmission or drive shaft.

Perfectly smooth at idle and until you approach the start of the vibration.

Replaced the viscous clutch mechanical fan with duel electric so it isn't an out of balance fan.

Pulled the serpentine belt this afternoon and still have the vibration. Might have been a little less and I did find a idler pulley that had a little rattle but the big vibration is still there with only the harmonic balancer through torque converter rotating.

Replaced the pulley. Nothing else changed from when Ford built it.

No OBD codes.

Accent LC (2000-05) :: Rough Ride / Suspension Doesn't Seem To Absorb The Bumps

After every time I jack either the front of the car or the whole car up, the ride is really rough for a few days. The suspension doesn't seem to absorb the bumps, it feels like the body does and it makes for a really rough ride. What would cause this? I can tell you, one of my front struts is so stiff, you can barely compress it when pressing down on that side of the car. but after a few days of driving and taking the bumps, she evens out and rides normal.

Ford Super Duty (1999-2016) :: 2015 F250 - Rough Ride / TPMS Light Comes On

Im an outside sales rep and I drove 85k miles last year in a F-150. The time came where I needed a new company truck and now I'm in a 2015 F-250 2wd 6.2l lariat. I love the truck but my back is killing me. I've only had it a little over 3 weeks but it has over 6k miles on it. The majority of the time my bed is unloaded but there has been a few times my 1/2 ton was overloaded so i stepped up to a 3/4 ton. Ive tried lowering my tire pressure but the TPMS light comes on. I also bought sand bags to leave in the back of my truck to add weight to it when not loaded. Im about to pull the trigger on bilstein 5100s but was wondering of there is anything else I could do make the truck ride a little smoother.

Santa Fe (DM - 2013+) :: Only 600 Miles On New Ride With TPMS Light On

Light came on, most likely due to colder weather. Jacked all tires up to 35psi. Now shows 2 tires low pressure. Why? What is the exact pressure to be at? Says in the car there at 29psi ....

Mercury - Monterey :: Rough Ride / Check Engine Light Blinking

Our 05 mercury monterey is riding rough and the check engine light is blinking all of a sudden. Two days back while driving home it was raining and we accidentally drove through a puddle, did not notice due to night time. After that it suddenly the light started to blink and engine felt rough. Checked the code yesterday morning and it showed cylinder 3 misfiring, no other codes came up. No one was available to check it yesterday and today. Have not started it again. Anything can be done before taking to the mechanic? I believe the number 3 cylinder is at the back side and not accessible easily. What could have happened?

Touareg :: Exhaust Malfunction Light - Choppy Ride / Engine Hesitant And Misfiring

When starting my T-Reg leaving work yesterday, the yellow exhaust malfunction light (located in the rpm guauge -- it looks like an engine but the manual refers to it as an exhaust malfunction) came on and would blink now and then and remain on.

I proceeded to drive home and the entire ride was choppy and the engine was hesitant and misfiring. When I arrived home, I turned the Reg of and then back on again and the light never came on. I drove it around the block and it was fine.

We have been experiencing tremendous cold weather in the Northeast (-20 to -30 with the wind chill). Reg started fine this morning, no light. Was this a function of the computer resetting itself?

Ford - Explorer :: 2000 - Idle Goes Down To 900 And Then To 600?

I have a 2000 Explorer, 4.0 V6 SOHC w/ 135K miles. All of a sudden it has an idle issue that's driving me nuts and the dealership can't fix. It has been in the shop 4 times for this problem so far.

It accelerates and cruises great, but when I come to a stoplight, the idle goes down to 900, then suddenly drops to 600 and idles rough. The "Check Engine" light is NOT lit. There is no hesitation, backfire or any other running problem. I have had plugs and wires, PCV valve, IAC valve and MAF sensor replaced. Technicians have checked for vacuum leaks and intake air gasket leaks and have found nothing.

I can "power brake" it and smooth it out some and even turning on the a/c or defroster boosts the idle and works a little. Shifting to neutral or park does not raise the idle like previous cars I owned. I only drive this car back and forth to work, about 1000 miles a month, and I'd like to make this Explorer last at least 200K miles. We just got a Ford Escape and I do not want another car payment right now!

Ford - Explorer :: 2000 - Battery Being Drained?

I have a 2000 ford explorer sport. For some reason the battery is being drained when my wife runs errons. It will start fine and she can make a couple stops then it will be dead. Is this just because the battery won't hold much or a charge anymore? This is the original battery. I checked the cable and they looked fine. It will charge up so she can start the next morning but like I said. If she has to make a few stops it goes dead. Looking for options before I start re-building the whole thing?...

Ford - Explorer :: 2000 - When Cold Won't Idle / Tries To Die?

2000 Explorer with the 4.0 SOHC.

It starts fine under all conditions but when cold, like in the 30s or lower, it doesn't want to remain idling, yet no CEL comes on. New fuel pump. The throttle body is cleaned, as are the injectors. It runs super once it gets past the cold startup issue.

I was thinking a sensor is getting weak but not weak enough to set the CEL.

Ford - Explorer :: 2000 - Under Load Misfire?

2000 Explorer Sport 4.0. I just did the heads, valves, decked, proofed. New wires, plugs. Followed the procedure to the letter. First two starts were a bit touchy, but now starts fine and purrs like a kitten at idle. The problem; under load it acts like it drops a cylinder. Bad plug, bad wire, fouled injector? This thing is driving me nuts.

Ford - Explorer :: 2000 - Misfiring And CEL Came Back On

My neice bought a 2000 Explorer Sport back in November. Soon afterwards it developed a misfire and the CEL came on. I put on a new set of wires and a new set of plugs. I noticed when I replaced the plugs that the #3 plug was missing the ceramic near the electrode. I figured it was just a cheap Bosch plug and didn't give it much thought. The vehicle ran great.

Recently the misfire came back and the CEL came back on. When I pulled the plugs #3 had a cracked ceramic around the electrode, #4 was wet with fuel and not firing at all, and #6 was completely missing the ceramic around the electrode.

I replaced the plugs again, replaced the coil pack and cleaned the MAF sensor and it's running great again.

My question is, what would cause the ceramic to disintegrate on the plugs? There didn't seem to be any pinging or detonation. I replaced the coil pack because I thought maybe it was erratic, loading up on fuel and then causing a big bang and then destroying the plug. Are my thoughts way off? I want to make sure this is fixed so that it doesn't tear up anything else.

Ford - Explorer :: 2000 - Emissions ECU Would Not Reset

A little embarrassed about a problem I have had getting the Emissions computer to reset for emissions testing in Maryland. I tried everything the testing station suggested, but could not get the codes to reset, for readiness for emissions testing. I surrendered after 5 or 6 trips to the testing station, and took it to my very trusted mechanic, thinking I had a bad ECU, and he would need to replace it. I would have done it myself, but figured I would not be able to re-program it myself, so would rely on my mechanic.

Got the car back, fixed for less than $50 (they did other maintenance work as well). Guess what it was? It was a blown fuse! This is the second time this 2000 Explorer XLT, 5.0 has me stumped and it was just a fuse - first time was tow-hitch lighting. So now, no matter what, I will check all the fuses first! Regardless of the problem - ok, maybe only a last resort when I have a flat tire
