Ford Excursion :: Steering Wheel Vibrates When Braking
We have the 6.8 4x4 2001. Mostly use it for towing 6K #. Bought 2 years ago. Front and rear brakes were new and all 4 rotors were machined at Ford dealership prior to purchase. Have put on 13,000 miles since then, majority towing.

The X has 107K on the clock. I have a 6 quart after market aluminum diff cover installed with Royal Purple 75W-140 synthetic gear oil and no limited slip additive in the gear oil. When I make a left or right turn, I get this vibration like the limited slip clutch pack is engaging then disengaging. It is not a thump or thud but just a subtle vibration. I don't hear any noise but I just feel the vibration. It happens either going forward or backing during a turn and is more noticeable when pulling a load and turning. Going straight down the road I hear no noise and feel no vibration. I thought I would ask before I pulled the diff cover off.

2002 Ford F350 Diesel 4x4 Automatic 250k miles
Recent there is a vibration which I feel as the driver and also from my passengers when I press on the accelerator. When I let off or do not press on the accelerator, the vibration goes away/stops.
I have had my U-joints checked (no problems or lose), carrier bearing on the drive shaft checked (was replaced 1-year ago), and tires balanced dna rotated 3x and not sure what next to check.
Occurs at all speed, but is really evident at lower rpm’s.
Ford - Focus :: 2000 Vibrates More At Idle
I have a 2000 Ford Focus that vibrates more at idle. The previous owner replaced the top passenger side motor mount when I bought it in Nov. I just replaced the bottom and then the other top drivers side mount two days later. 75% improvement but I wonder if there is some thing in the engine like an adjustment of some kind. I have only had it a couple months so I don't know when the last time it had a tune up. I can replace the spark plugs my self but would need a computer diagnosis to determine if there is something else that needs some adjustment of replacement.

View 3 RepliesFord F-150 (2004-2008) :: 2006 XLT Vibrates Between 50 - 60 MPH
Recently I noticed a "thunking" noise when I accelerated from a stop and a vibration between 50 and 60 MPH. For what it is worth, I baby this vehicle. I took it to the shop and had three U-joints replaced, the next day I noticed a severe vibration was still there. I returned to the shop where they kept it for two days and cannot figure out what is causing the problem.
They re-balanced the tires, checked the alignment, brakes, calipers, rotors and even had the drive shaft re-balanced (which they said was out by 30,000) and took it to a local transmission shop who said the problem is not in the transmission but it is still occurring. They finally admitted defeat and suggested I take it to the dealer. It has 149+ thousand miles on it and a 5.4 engine.
Ford - Vibration - F150 :: 1991 - Vibrates On The Highway
I've got a 1991 Ford F150 Super Cab, 351 Windsor 5.8L V8, 2WD with 177000 miles on it. It rocks, I love this truck. But above 60 miles an hour I start to get a horrible vibration throughout the cab, mostly under the seat. It gets worse the faster I go to the point the whole cab vibrates. The challenge is that it only occurs when I'm on flat interstate, with just enough gas to maintain speed. If I accelerate, it goes away (or subsides quite a bit). If I let off the gas, it goes away completely. I had a transmission diagnosis from a local, reputable shop, and they said the tranny was fine. They said it was something in the engine, but I'm baffled that something in the engine could cause such a vibration all over the cab. Any thoughts on what this might be?

View 10 RepliesFord F-150 (2004-2008) :: Torque Converter Vibrates Between 40 - 55 MPH
I highjacked another thread yesterday but didn't get many responses so I thought I would start a new one... I've done some searching here but no one had any real answers or had a different reason for the vibration...
We have a stock '05 F150 with 24k mi that is having Vibrations not related to bad tires or a bad trailer. It rattles any cups or change that is in the center console area and the dashboard. It seems to come up through the floor.
Symptoms timeline:
The rear pops when you turn tight in a parking lot. I've been told this is normal because of the ratcheting LSD? Is this true?
The tranny fluid was low and we could not find where it was going. Put several qts in it and finally took it to the dealer where they replaced the bad seal between the transmission and transfer case. So we know they took the driveshaft out and the transfer case. Not sure if they dropped the transmission out.
We have a vibration from about 40mph-55mph under medium-full throttle. A lot worse when towing. Put it in neutral and it goes away. Rev the motor and you don't feel it. Only happens under load. Happens in 3 and 4th gear. Goes away once the torque converter locks up.
Am I going down the right path in saying it's a bad torque converter?
Ford F-150 (2009-2014) :: 2011 XLT 4x4 - Vibrates And Jerks About 65 Mph?
Driving to work the other day on the expressway going about 65 and my truck starts vibrating and jerking like crazy. I thought i had a blow out , so I checked my tires and they were ok. Then, I thought I may had run over something. I continued off the ramp and drove on the highway to work, no sooner than a couple of minutes later it happened again. I had a tow truck take it to the dealer, this was Thursday. It's now Sunday and I haven't heard from customer service after they told me they'd call..... Its an EcoBoost by the way.
View 2 RepliesFord A/C :: 1977 F150 - Compressor Really Vibrates At Low RPMs
I bought a 1977 Ford truck a couple of years ago. It has factory air, but the compressor was removed and the hoses were capped and/or poorly taped off when I bought the truck.
I got the bright idea, I'd try to get the air going, but I didn't know anything about a/c systems. I bought a York type (same as what it would have had originally) compressor from Autozone. They told me it was for r134. I put it on the truck along with a new filter/dryer and new expansion valve.
I took the truck to the local shade tree mechanic and he stuck a el cheapo vacuum pump on it for a little while and threw some oil and two or three cans of r134 in it. Well... since then, two summers have passed and it has never worked right.
The compressor really vibrates at low rpms. The air is just barely cool enough to tease me into thinking I have air conditioning. I know this sounds odd, but it seems to work best after I've sat at a stop sign and then take off. It's like idling the engine allows it to "catch up to itself" and then when I drive about 30 mph after a stop sign it actually blows pretty cool for a couple of minutes. But at highway speeds it isn't cool at all. This seems to be the opposite of what I've read. I had the heater & a/c box all apart changing the heater core and all the doors and seals are in good shape inside it. I don't think I'm getting outside air in. At least not in any quantity.
Last summer a friend tried to had one of those cheap gauges and he tried to put some r134 in it but it didn't accept much at all; and it didn't work. I've had about as much as I can take. I need some air conditioning. Should I try to flush out the system, install a new filter/dryer, and get a fresh charge of r12? I'm concerned about trying that because the kid at Autozone told me the compressor was for r134.
I'm pretty confident I don't have any leaks in the system.
Ford - Explorer :: 2002 - Vibrates / Shakes Mostly Between 30 - 40 Mph During Takeoff
Ok so here's the deal recently decided to get my explorer back on the road after sitting for some time. So needed a new alternator replaced took it for a drive was really rough but again it just sat so i kept driving it and it got better but did need some parts and love so here's what I did to it thus far then I will explain what the issue is. I have replaced the alternator, oil change, trans case fluid change, new plugs and wires, new wheel bearing, new rotor, new brakes all around, new caliper. So here's the issue. During take off it vibrates/shakes mostly between 30-40 mph but when you get to about 60 it drives good but when you take your foot off the gas its like a whine or a growl that comes from what sounds like the middle of the truck. I am not exactly sure on what it is. I checked the u joints no slop or anything maybe a little stiff. Tomorrow im checking the front and rear diff and rotating the tires to see if that gets rid of the vibration but what about the whine or growl. Realized I didn't put what type of explorer it is. 2002 explorer xls 4.0 sohc 4x4.

After I've driven the van for some 10-20 miles it vibrates through out the whole van when I turn left/right at low speeds. There is no problem at any speeds while going straight however. I've replaced both sides upper/lower ball joints, front wheel bearings, driver caliper, all the inner/outer tie rods, adjusting sleeve..etc, both rotors, u-joints(previous owner replaced them twice) new diff fluid, both rear drums with new pads. All 4 tires have signs of dry rot, but good amount of tread still on due to a lot of sitting. The van was sold as a 3.54 limited slip diff, but testing says its a possing traction. What am I missing?
