Ford 6.0L Power Stroke Diesel :: Low Pitched Tone After Upgrades
Ok, so I now have a low pitched tone coming from somewhere and it is amplified in the cab. It's a low moan of sorts that has started after replacing the ficm, blue spring, alt and batts. Probably not related but sounds like a hose/tube is off somewhere. Visually I cannot see anything under the hood loose, and it is not heard as well there either. I hear what sounds like it at the air filter inlet by the radiator, but nothing back near the firewall. What the heck caused it?
View 14 RepliesFord 6.0L Power Stroke Diesel :: High Pitched Squeal - Coolant Temp At About 180 Degrees
I have a 2006 350. When I am pulling my camp trailer (about 12,500 lbs) up a grade I hear a fan or blower turn on and I get a high pitched squeal. It will also have a beep and my in dash display will say high engine temp. I have a bullydog pmt programmer (i tow with it in stock mode) the display will show my coolant temp at about 180 degrees. If I pull over and let it idle for about 2 minutes the warning clears and the temp gauge returns to normal. the display reads about 180 degrees the whole time this goes on. I know the engine is not over heating so why do i get this warning and squeal?
View 4 RepliesFord 6.7L Power Stroke Diesel :: 2012 F250 Diesel - Transmission Noise When Shifts Into 5th Gear?
When the truck shifts into 5th gear i instantly feel a constant vibration and noise until it shifts to 6th gear. This happens nearly every time while driving at 40mph. Rpm range 1200 - 2000. I bought the truck new on June 30th and noticed the problem on my way to work on Monday July 2nd. Took it to the dealer on July 5th and the tech said it was the torque converter slipping. I drove it home because they didn't have time to work on it. Took it back on July 12th and the dealer has had it since (currently 30 days) They originally told me it was not the engine or transmission and it was an exhaust problem. Last week they said it was the motor mounts and said they would be done.
View 14 RepliesFord 7.3L Power Stroke (1999-2003) :: High Pitched Squealing / Scraping Sound - Loss Of Power Towing Uphill
Towing a 5th wheel at about 10,000 lbs total. Towards the end of out 9 hour trip home and going upgrade the truck begins to loos power and the engine starts making some bad sounds. Although its hard to hear it starts about 45 seconds in and continues later when going uphill. the truck also made a very high pitched squealing/scraping sound (not a belt) like it may have been coming from the turbo. Oil temp was about 220, trans temp at 170 at the time of the event.
Truck has 216k, stock, upgraded trans cooler, original fuel pump.

Ford 6.7L Power Stroke Diesel :: 2011 F350 - Losing Power - Rough Noise - Vibrating?
2011 F350 diesel with 10,000 miles. I have been experiencing problems with the truck loosing power, making rough running noise (pinging like an older diesel), and vibrating. As though the motor is bogging down. It usually occurs on small inclines or hills with the truck in higher gears and low rpms. It will also occur running on flat ground 65-70 mph. Had it occur once while turning the truck around in 1st gear and low rpms. Depressing the accelerator will bring the truck out of it.
This problem occurs randomly sometimes a couple of times a week to not at all. Took to dealer and they found no codes and of couse it didn't do it on the hour long test drive I took the mechanic on. However they did say they had two other owners come in with the same complaints, but could not get trucks to repeat the issue. Problem usually occurs in the hotter part of the day, maybe just coincidence. I had seen similar posts with this problem but no conclusions.

My Honda is making howling/groaning noise I have usually associated with the power steering. The fluid looks okay and and level (I had my friend show me what I should look for) is okay but I can't go into a turn without it making a noise.
View 10 RepliesFord 6.7L Power Stroke Diesel :: Squealing Noise Before Start Up
Just noticed a loud squealing sound coming from the engine area before I start the truck, but with the key in the on position. I'll try to get a video the next time it happens. I assume it's something starting/warming up, but it's louder than anything I've ever noticed. It lasts probably 20 seconds.

What is going on. You can hear the seal in the background making racket. I just got it back from my dealer saying they fixed it and its not fixed. Why that window seal would make all that noise. Its coming from that upper corner.

Ford 6.7L Power Stroke Diesel :: 2011 - Hum Noise After Shut Down
My 2011 6.7 just started making a hum noise after shutdown. I've read that it might be the wastegate solenoid. Is there a TSB for this. My truck is tuned so hopefully my dealer will be tuner friendly.
View 14 RepliesFord 6.0L Power Stroke Diesel :: 2004 - Noise - Fan Clutch Out?
I'm hearing a plane type sound on my 2004 f-250 6.0 and i also noticed the temp gauge needle went up but still in normal range and then went back to the middle range when slowing down or parked. I had a combustion test done and a leak test was done and all passed. The reservoir tank had a leak and changed that before all the test were done. The mechanic did various run test and it didn't over heat but it did when i got it back. My guess is that the fan clutch is out but not sure. An AutoZone guy came out and looked at the fan clutch and asked me to turn it on and hit the gas and then shut it off. He noticed that the fan clutch kept turning fast and he said it's not supposed to do that.
View 8 RepliesFord 6.7L Power Stroke Diesel :: 2011 - Clunking Noise While In 4x4
My 2011 SD started clunking while in 4x4 this weekend. I was on an icy road for about 120 km driving about 60-80 kph and once or twice noticed a random clunk. Didn't think much of it.
Fast forward to following day - get truck on an icy hill where I had to make a sharp turn. Put truck in 4x4, turn off ATC by holding button 8 seconds. Only rear wheels engage. So then try 4 LO. Same thing. Straighten wheels, shift to park, engage 4x4 again and she hooks up and drives out no problem. Further down the road (still in 4x4), it fish tails slightly and then check 4x4 light comes on. In order to get 4x4 re-engaged (was spinning at a stop light on a slight incline) I had to shut truck off and restart it. Then it seemed to work normal and light went off.
Little further down the road I had to go up a steep incline and at a steady 40-50 kph I started hearing (and feeling) a noticeable clunk every few hundred feet. Seems to be coming from rear of truck but honestly cannot say for sure. Goes away when in 2wd.
I have 7000 kms left before warranty expires luckily.
Ford 6.7L Power Stroke Diesel :: Noise From Motor After 1st Oil Change?
13 qts Rotella 15-40 & ford filter. I filled the filter with 1 qt before installation.

Ford 6.7L Power Stroke Diesel :: Front End Noise While Turning
I have noticed my truck makes a front end noise when I make turns, like from a main road to a side street. What seems to cause it is if there is a little dip or bump during the turn. The noise it makes sounds almost like a tire rubbing a splash guard or something. It comes from the drivers side. It he truck is stock with stock tires and wheels and has 4300 mi on it. I was maybe going to take it to the dealer...

I recently replaced the front wheel hub and upper and lower ball joints on the the driver side of my 2004 f250 CC SB 6.0 fx4. Now when I put into 4 wheel drive I get a grinding noise that sounds like a worn out break pad from that side only. It didn't do it before and it only happens in 4x4. I have replaced the wheel hubs before and it was fine. Also The needle bearing race on the axle is good.

The last few weeks, I have been hearing a whistling/whooshing noise on WOT when going to pass someone.
It is coming from the right side of the engine compartment between the turbo and firewall.
At least that is where it sounds like. I have no clue how to verify that driving it. What to check?
Ford 7.3L Power Stroke (1999-2003) :: Higher Pitched Scraping While Driving?
I've got this loud higher pitched scraping/rattling/clanking noise while moving. Neutral or drive makes no difference. I have a problem with my coast clutch not working and will be having the tranny shop (warranty) take a look at what's going on. Could this sound be from that? I hope it's noticeable on the video. I need to do my swaybar link bushings, but it's not a suspension clunk it's definitely a rotating noise.
View 9 RepliesFord 6.7L Power Stroke Diesel :: Engine Seems Louder / More Injector Noise
I bought my truck just after xmas with 46,000 kms on it. Quite new. AS I've put on almost 18,000 kms on since I bought it I recently noticed my motor is quite a bit loader than it used to be. There is more of a diesel sound to it. More injector noise one would think. Its one of the things that I've always like about the 6.7's. they are super quiet. What would cause my engine to get louder ??????
View 14 RepliesFord 6.0L Power Stroke Diesel :: Noise Behind Firewall Occurs Every 20 - 40 Seconds
just got a new to me 05 f250 with the 6.0. Truck has 152k its super clean. I think there is an odd noise. That occurs every 20-40 seconds. This is my first diesel. There is no check engine light. No loss of power. No stutter.
But, there is a bump sound behind the firewall on the drivers side. And a felt bump on the throttle pedal. At first I thought it was a sub woofer behind the firewall, not really, just the feeling of the sound and vibration. Since there is no check light on I'm concerned as to what this could be if it's not a normal diesel sound/vibration.
There is no correlation with throttle position(occurs at idle and pedal depressed) RPM (I feathered the throttle attempting to elicit the sound no result). bumps in the road (bump stop, steering nothing wrong there). Does seem in the afternoon it's more prevalent. I drive about 20mi to work and around 5mi through out the day. The sound occurs approximately every 20-40 seconds.
