Camry :: 1994 Toyota LE - All Electrical Remains On With Key Removed From Ignition
I have a 1994 4 cyl Toyota Camry LE. For the last couple of years, when I parked the car after driving it and removed the key from the ignition, the air conditioning would continue to operate normally and blow cold air through the vents, and all of the other electrics would all operate for about 5 seconds, then shut down normally. Again, this was after driving the car, engine off, with the key removed and the ignition switch in the proper "off" position. I didn't think much of it at the time.
Recently, the problem has advanced to something worse. Now, when I turn off and remove the key, all electrical components remain on indefinitely (ie radio, air conditioning, wipers work, etc... )
I can physically power down each of the individual components using it's respective switch, but there is still accessory power on the vehicle. Basically, with the key removed, the vehicle thinks it is in accessory mode. All the dash lights are illuminated, like right before you start the vehicle. The only way to completely remove all electrical from the vehicle is to physically disconnect the battery.

2005 F250 superduty 5.4l crewcab. When I shut the truck off and remove the keys from ignition, the chime keeps going off like the keys are still in the ignition until I turn the ignition back to the off position again.(about 1/8 of an inch.)

I recently purchased Toyota Camry Hybrid -2008, pre-purchase inspection done by Toyota dealer. Today, my car refuses to turn ignition on (I have keyless start). After several trials, it turned on. I switched off the car and tired after 5 mins. Again it gave the trouble first time, worked second time. What could cause this issue? It's still under hybrid warranty.
View 5 RepliesCamry 2012+ :: 2013 - Intermittent Chiming When Driver Door Is Opened
I can't find in the owners manual where It explains about the bells with exiting our 2013 SE V6. Sometimes I hold the brake pedal and hit the start/stop button to shut off the engine, sometimes I don't hold the brake pedal and hit the start/stop button to shut off the engine. Sometimes I do either of those methods and the Wife opens the passenger door, sometimes she isn't with me and just the driver door opens. What happens is sometimes when I open the driver door a bell chimes.........ding, ding, ding. Sometimes it doesn't chime. I'm just trying to figure out what this intermittent chiming is all about?????? Is it a warning, a notification and if a notification what is it notifying us about?

Passat (B6) :: Wipers Move When Key Removed From Ignition?
Sometimes when I take the key out of the ignition, the wipers move up slightly. I notice the passenger's blade most as it parks a bit higher than the driver's blade, so when they move up the right one is more obvious. They don't move a full cycle, just up about an inch and stop.

2000 PASSAT 1.8t. As u pull out the key out of the ignition key chamber, u should here a click sound. That I believe signals the car that the key has been pulled out of the ignition key chamber. Well I don't hear the click sound anymore when the key is pulled out of the ignition key chamber and as a result, the car thinks the key is still is the ignition chamber, alarm does not work, radio stays on after key is out, I have to manually lock and unlock car. I think the key chamber has a pin that did not set right when I pulled the key out. I think some thing is stuck . Tired spraying WD40 into the key chamber with no results.

Prius (Gen 2) :: Key In Ignition Warning Light And Beeping After Taken Fob Out
I have a 2007 Prius. Today it began showing an warning indicator light (car w/key symbol) and sounded the beeps it usually does when I forget to take the fob out of the ignition when leaving the car. However, I had taken the fob out.
Eventually, the battery drained as it does when leaving the fob in the ignition without running the car. Later, the warning light continued to blink, but the beeping stopped. The battery still drained. The local Toyota dealer said he has never heard of something like this.
Prius (Gen 2) :: Key Is In Ignition - Flashing Red Key Symbol Showing Keyless Start
I have a 2007 Prius, package 6. It's always worked great, can't complain. I bought it in 2009 with 27,000 miles on it from the original owner.
I have always started the car by pressing the start button with my foot on the gas pedal. My key fob is in my pocket, I don't put it in the ignition key slot. I lock the car by pushing the button in the door handle from the outside. I unlock it by putting my hand on the door handle and pulling on it. My keys are always in my front pocket with nothing else in the pocket.
Yesterday, when I got in the car and pushed the ignition button, I got the symbol of a red key flashing with a line through it, seeming to be telling me I was trying to start the car without the key. I got my key out of my pocket and waved it around, and then the car started in the normal way, by pushing the ignition button, i put my keys back in my pocket. Went out, came back, everything seemed normal.
Today when I got in the car and pushed the ignition button, got the flashing red key symbol (and beeping sound) again. I got my keys out of my pocket and waved them in front of the dashboard but it was no dice. The car would not start. I put the fob in the ignition slot and the car then started. I went to my location, turned the car off, tried to turn it back on without the key in it but it still had the flashing beeping key picture on the otherwise dark dashboard. I tried to lock the car by pushing on the door handle button but there was no response. I opened the door and used the button on the inside of the door to lock the car and closed the door. i used the valet key, taking it out of the fob and using it to reopen the door. Pushing on the lock/unlock buttons on the fob had no effect.
When I got home, the car still would not respond wirelessly to the key fob. I got my spare key fob from the house and tried using it to start the car wirelessly. It had no effect.
I searched this forum and read about the button under the steering wheel. I went back to the car to search for the button. I saw the button, labeled with the word 'Key.' But before touching it, i tried starting the car keyless again, pushing the ignition button. It started normally. Everything worked normally, lock/unlock, ignition. Key fob not inserted into the slot. I decided not to do anything with the under steering wheel button.
I would like to ask whether this sounds like there is nothing wrong with the key fobs but there is some problem with the car internally.
Are there ways I can test that, by trying other things that would be affected by the battery, if the symptom comes back again? If there's an internal defect causing the problem rather than problem with the fob/s, would any of the causes be warranty repairs?
The car currently has about 67,000 miles on it.
Sonata I45 (YF - 2011+) :: 2013 - Remote Start With Keyless Ignition
2013 Sonata Limited. I requested that a remote starter be added to a vehicle with keyless ignition. They mentioned that it can't be done, as I would need an extra keyfob that would sit inside the car at all times, and that if I leave the car unlocked, anyone could get in, start it, and drive off with it. That seemed ridiculous to me, so I called another dealer to ask and got essentially the same answer, saying it was not available yet for keyless ignitions.

I have a 05 Avalon keyless ignition that I have recently replaced the battery because the car wouldn't start not even with a jump. With new battery everything comes on in the dash as normal, but the car won't start. Could it be the starter is gone bad or could it be a fuse?

Today I came out of a store & my car started beeping the panic alarm. I don't carry the key fob with me, just a key. I unlocked the door, sat down, put the key in & turned the ignition. The lights all lit on the dashboard as normal but the car did not start. absolutely nothing. I was at a loss for what to do.
Fortunately, someone came out of the store & asked me if I needed a jump & explained what happened, and he said let me try something. He tried to start the car, then got out of it, locked the door, unlocked the door, sat back down & tried again. The car started right up.
The car is a 2014 Elantra SE with the Premium Package.

View 1 RepliesFord F-150 (2004-2008) :: FX4 - Continuous Chiming From Under The Dash When Driving
I have an 04 F150 FX4, I was driving it and starting continuously chiming from under the dash. The chime was the same as the low fuel light but was repetitive. I assumed it to be a warning and I started watching my gauges to find my voltage dropping. So I rushed it back home and couple miles out the dash, radio, accessories, etc power went out in what I assume to be a power save mode.
I get it back home and turn it off. I go to attempt to restart it and no crank. I think ok maybe my alternator went out, so I jumped the battery off my car and still no power. When I mean no power, truck is getting proper voltage but when I turn the key to attempt to start there are still no cranking, no dash/radio/windows. I noticed two things: ABS light blinks different codes but nothing consistent, and secondly the anti-theft light when turning to start blinks rapidly.
I believe this is unrelated to the problem, but my clock spring broke few months back. Since the anti-theft light blinks rapidly i'm assuming the PATS system is not communicating with the key. I only have one key for the truck. I check every fuse, swapped relays in fuse panel on passenger side and everything looked good. I called a locksmith who can cut and program keys and he called his technical support and said he doesn't believe that two new programmed keys will solve the problem.
