Camry :: 2003 - Minor Oil Leakage From Alternator And Cylinder Head?
I'll be working on an 03 camry this weekend with a small oil leak coming from the alternator and headers area. I know For sure its a gasket that will need replacing but which one and how difficult is it? On the last pic there's a blue circle ;the leak is from that area.....

I can't see any leakage underneath. Could it just be the heater core? And if so, is it a pain to fix?
View 2 RepliesLexus GX 2004-09 :: 2003 GX470 Brake Master Cylinder Leakage
Just purchased a 2003 GX470 with 160k and after the low brake fluid light came on I noticed the master cylinder had a leak. After removing the cover it appears the fluid has leaked for quite some time as the paint has started pealing from the frame. The brakes however appear to be working correctly. Upon purchase the front calipers were seized and I replaced both front calipers.
After having someone depress the brake pedal while I watched, the fluid leaks from the end of the master cylinder each time pedal is pressed in.
After doing some research it appears there is a rebuild kit for the master cylinder.
Suburban :: 2001 Denali - Engine Oil And Antifreeze Leakage
I got a 2001 Denali with the 6.0l. It seems to be leaking engine oil to the rear of the oil pan on both sides. It has residue where the oil cooler lines are at, by the drain plug, under the bell housing and around the starter. Also, I noticed there was some antifreeze on the right side axle towards the right front of the motor. I can't see any signs of the water pump or thermostat leaking. Where either of these could be leaking from?

View 12 RepliesCamry :: 2003 V6 LE - Power Steering Reservoir Return Hose - Fluid Leakage
Just checked out at 2003 V6 LE with 120k miles for $5500. Car seems to be in excellent mechanical condition but I did notice quite a significant power steering fluid leak, seems to be coming from the reservoir. I see that there are two hoses for about $80 each listed on Partsgeek.
Is this a common problem, can the clamps just be tightened, Could it be the reservoir it's self or even the pump too high a pressure?
Seems to be quite a lot of fluid running down the side of the car but after taking it for a test drive I didn't see any signs of it squirting out so perhaps it's a slow leak and been leaking for a while.
Corolla / Matrix 2009-13 :: Shaking During Idle - Antifreeze Leaking Into Cylinder
My car was shaking badly during idle and the Engine and VSC Off lights came on simultaneously. I took it to a local garage (not dealership) and they said that there is anti-freeze leaking into a cylinder. They said the only way to clean it out/fix it is to first remove the entire engine from the car so it could be worked on. It will cost a total of $2,700. My engine has 141,000 miles on it so they said this may be risky since it is so used. They said for $3,500 they could swap it with an engine that only has 31,000 miles on it (and a 6 month guarantee.) By numbers this sounds like a no brainer (I am assuming?) but I am curious if swapping the engines would be worth it seeing as the rest of the car has still traveled 141,000 miles. I have kept it in good condition and such though. I am also curious if the engine really does need to be removed to fix this sort of problem or it it could be done cheaper.
View 4 RepliesSanta FE SM (2001-06) :: Leaking Antifreeze - Hole On Cylinder 5 Side Of The Block
We now have a new problem. Motor is leaking antifreeze out of what i will call a weeping hole in the on the #5 cylinder side of the block. The hole, which is manufactured in the block. Is where the antifreeze is seeping from. The hole is located above the bottom bolt an just below the top bolt for the transmission. the hole is on the block. I think that there might be a freeze out plug on the back of the motor block where the leak is coming from. The block was not leaking before we removed the heads for valve job.

I recently purchased a 03 Camry XLE V6 love the car, but the engine has been giving me trouble. Since owning the car in January it has been in the shop 3 times for a cylinder misfire on 5. They jave replaced the ignition coil, spark plug, and fuel injector and still would misfire, it might be a few weeks later, but it would still misfire. It is currently in the shop for the something, they have checked the fuel, electrical system, and compression tested the cylinder and all has comeback good.

View 2 RepliesCamry :: 1MZ-FE Oil Leakage Around Filter Seal?
I have had a 2002 Camry with the 3.0 V6 (1MZ-FE) for a few months, and just changed the oil for the first time. I'm no stranger to oil changes, having done them myself for many years on a variety of cars. Never had a problem with it before. But no matter what I do I cannot get the filter on the Camry to seat right and seal. It leaks from the driver's side of the filter and drips straight down onto the exhaust (and smells just lovely). The leak is such that before I realized what was happening, the car was leaving a quart a week on the ground.
I've tried a couple different filters, thinking I maybe had some defective ones with a bad seal. But I get exactly the same results with both OEM Denso filters (the blue ones) and factory ones from a Toyota dealer.
I am quite sure that I did not leave the old filter gasket on the engine before putting the new filter on. The only thing I can think of is that maybe I am consistently overtightening the filter. I've never had a car that was fussy about that before, so I'm usually pretty casual about it---just follow the rule of "turn it by hand until you feel the gasket hit the block, then give it a turn with the wrench." But the filter on this car is so hard to reach from below that I was pretty much doing it by feel. (I only just discovered that you can do it from above if you remove the upper shield from around the exhaust manifold---that was how I got a clear enough view of that side of the block to be sure where the oil was coming out.)
Camry :: Trunk Water Leakage
I have had my Camry for 9 months and unfortunately didnt know that water was going inside my trunk every time it rained, the car was washed, or snow melted! I took it to the dealer to have it looked at only to find out the trunk body seal needed to be replaced. I have had cars over 10 years and water in the trunk was never an issue.
This is my first Camry and I must admit I am not satisfied with the purchase. I hope my experience gets better.
Camry :: Antifreeze Is Not Coming Properly
Just changed the anti-freeze in wife's 2004 Camry with the 4 cylinder engine. Was expecting about 8 quarts to drain out based on vehicle specs, but only got slightly over 4 quarts. Must have done something wrong, so, who knows will read this and set me straight for subsequent anti-freeze changes.
What I did was to loosen the inside screw on the engine drain bolt located at the front, bottom, center of the engine, plus remove the lower radiator hose (left bottom of radiator when standing in front and looking toward engine), plus remove the radiator drain screw (right bottom of radiator). I did this with front of car on ramps.
I'm wondering about whether this left the old anti-freeze in the heater core, perhaps because of the front being on ramps?
Camry :: 1999 - Transmission Fluid Very Low Due To Leakage
1999 Toyota Camry 2.2L V4 automatic 112,000 miles
Last week I checked my transmission fluid and it was very low. I added fluid and checked it the next day and it was low again. I noticed trans fluid on the front of the pan so i went out and bought a new trans filter and a new trans pan gasket and replaced them, sealed and bolted the trans pan back properly, and added the fluid. I thought that this would fix the leak but I see that the pan is still leaking from the front of it.
Camry :: Coolant Leakage After Engine Shut Off
Ave an 02 Camry 4 Cly
Noticed small puddle of coolant under the car - then noticed overflow empty and radiator a little low on fluid. Noted some coolant below the thermostat.
After filling back to proper levels, ran engine for a while with no apparent leaking. Took a couple of short trips and inspected after each trip and no leaking noticed.
Checked several hours later and noted coolant below thermostat housing and on ground. After a couple more trip noted coolant level dropping again.
What would cause fluid to leak after engine shut down? Could be coming from another location, but my attention is on the thermostat at present.
Camry :: Power Steering In Reservoir Going Down - Fluid Leakage
So I've been noticing my power steering in the reservoir has been going down for quite some time. Now its more noticeable than ever. Just about a month ago I topped off the tank to the "max" line and now its at the "min" line. I also notice the fluid on the garage floor. I've always had a lot of grease (I assume the fluid) all around the body and under the reservoir under the hood. It seems to be leaking from the hose where it connects to the actual reservoir. Maybe the clamp is bad or something.
View 14 RepliesCamry :: Leakage Developed In Power Steering Hose
OK, I have developed a leak in the power steering hose that connects to the fluid reservoir (the smaller diameter hose). The dealer only sells this as an assembly (all the way to the pump, and very expensive). The hose is molded. Need to replace just this first hose section? AutoZone and several others I checked don't seem to have this (at least on line).
