Camry :: Cylinder 2 Misfire Under Hard Acceleration
I've been having a cylinder 2 misfire in my V6 2002 Solara, and I'm not sure what to replace. I've been told that I should get a new coil pack for cylinder 2. The misfires in the engine seem to be most noticeable under hard acceleration. I'm really not sure what to do.
View 2 RepliesCamry :: 2002 - P0302 Cylinder 2 Misfire Warning
I have a 2002 Camry, 2.4 with 155k miles.
This morning I was going to work and was making a lane change and hit the accelerator quite aggressively. Suddenly my engine started to run really rough and shook the car and the check engine light started flashing.
I checked the engine code and its giving me a P0302 Cylinder 2 Misfire warning.
I have read that there can be various reasons but I figured since this problem is consistent its not a vacuum issue? Could it just be a bad plug? I don't have the tools to fix it, I am going to get them soon to pull the plugs and inspect then, and will replace them anyway since I don't think they have ever been replaced.
Camry :: 2004 - Getting P0303 Code / Cylinder 3 Misfire
I have searched but with no solid answer..
What I got - 04 Camry, 231K, never had issues, do all my maintenance myself, brakes, plugs, oil etc..
#3 Cyl misfire..
Possible causes
Plugs, - Has been about 2 years since I replaced
Coil - Bought car new in 04, never replaced
Cat - never gave it a second thought
fuel injector - put techron by Chevron just about every oil change, I know I missed one here and there..
burned exhaust valve - say it aint so...
poor compression - I have to rent a tool...
defective computer - I don't think so..
LS / MKZ :: 2003 Lincoln V8 Misfire On Cylinder 7
I have an 03 Lincoln LS V8 136000 miles. Just bought it in mid June and it was throwing P0420 and 430. I changed out the Coils and plugs and that seemed to do the trick. Before I was getting about 18.5 mpg and after it went up to 22 mpg. Well this lasted for about 250 miles (about a week). Now I have developed a really bad miss on #7,and a sometime flashing CEL, changed out the coil, no change. My question could this be a fuel problem? I did have one thing strange thing happen before I did the coils and plugs. I was just pulling on to the on ramp stepped on the pedal and it was like some one turned the car off nothing let off the gas and it was still idling tried again nothing, pulled off to the side. turned it off and restarted and it was fine??? Plus the fact it seems now that I my have to do the solenoid in the tranny grabbing during shifts.

As the title states... 2003 Passat 1.8T. The car was running fine. Had a new timing belt installed. The Check Engine light now continues to come on for Cyl #1 misfire. Attempts to fix so far include:
1) New plugs
2) New coils
3) New injectors
4) new cam and crank sensors
Golf IV / Jetta IV :: 2003 VW - Misfire On Cylinder 2
So I've been having some problems with my 2003 Volkswagen Golf lately (2.0 L gasoline engine, 98k miles). It started with an engine coolant thermostat code. This was repaired by replacing the thermostat and housing. Shortly after this fix I began to get a misfire, especially on rainy and humid days. Checking other forums I discovered that this was probably the result of a bad ignition coil.
The coil, spark plug wires and plugs were all replaced, but I am still getting a misfire. The idle is very rough so I've heard that it could be a bad fuel injector or faulty ground (though with the new components the other three cylinders sound cherry). The next step would be to purchase a "noid" test light and determine if the electronics to the injector are bad. I've also read that it could be a vacuum problem. There is a smell of unburned fuel when the engine is running.
How was it repaired? I'm quite good with the mechanical parts but lack the diagnostic tools, vacuum testers, multimeter and other such devices for performing complete screenings of the vehicle. Also, I can't drive it out to the local auto parts store to read the new error codes anymore. Finally I've got a "Chilton's" for the car but if there is a better manual available (better pictures, more descriptive instructions).
Chevrolet - Venture :: 2003 - Misfire On Cylinder 5?
I have a misfire on cylinder #5 on my 03 Chevy Venture with a 3.4L, I changed the #5 Injector because the shop I took it to said that's what it was. But the same code came back for misfire cylinder #5, would a bad plug or wire cause the same code to come up.
View 6 RepliesTacoma :: 2003 - Misfire In Cylinder 3 - Low Compression?
I just picked up my truck from my mechanic after he was trying to determine what was causing a misfire in cylinder 3. He swapped coils and then did a compression test and found the following results in cylinders 1 through 4, in order: 143, 132, 57, 151. He said I need to replace the engine or start with adding Engine Restore. Is there a chance I don't need to replace the engine? Could it need a valve job?

View 8 RepliesToyota - Avalon :: 2003 - Smoking And Misfire On Cylinder 2
I just bought a used Toyota Avalon with 135,500 miles on it. They sold it because it was smoking and didn't know what was wrong with it(they were an old retired couple). They were the only owners and it has never been driven hard or abused.... Anyway. I read online that unhooking the vacuum hose from the pcv valve may make it stop smoking. I unhooked it and plugged the vacuum hose and they were right. It stopped smoking after I got the rest of the oil out of the hose. I thought maybe the old pcv valve was messed up so I got a new one and hooked it back up but then smoking was back. So I am getting too much blow by in it for sure. I don't think the valve seals are leaking because as soon as I unhooked the vacuum from the pcv valve the smoking stopped. I drove it for 2 days with no smoke whatsoever. What could be causing the blow by to be so strong? It was strong enough to spit oil out of the pcv valve without the vacuum hose sucking it out(there was oil on the engine).
The check engine light is also on so I hooked it up to a computer at an auto parts store and it said I had a misfire on 2 cylinders(2 and 6). So I changed all the spark plugs and re-hooked it to the machine. This time I only got an error code for cylinder 2. Each plug has a coil so I switched the coil from cylinder 4 to cylinder 2 to test if maybe the coil was bad, but it still gave me a misfire on cylinder 2 only. I even swapped the plug from 2 to 4 to make sure the new plug wasn't bad. Still a misfire on cylinder 2. It is still smoking(ONLY WHEN VACUUM HOSE IS ON PCV VALVE) and check engine light is still on and error code says cylinder 2 misfire.
Ford F-150 - 1997-2003 :: Unexplained Misfire On Cylinder 1 And 5
My truck has developed a misfire on cylinders 1 and 5. The OBD2 scanner at autozone says code P0300, Po301 and P0305. I bought a new set of plugs and wires. Problem still there. I then replaced the both coils. Problem is still there. Is there a control module or something that could kill those 2 cylinders like on the older trucks with distributors?

My car is misfiring, as in acceleration 90% sputters until I lay the pedal to the ground, which obviously isn't good for my gas. What do I do? I can't find anything online and I don't want to be throwing money into things that don't work.
View 4 RepliesSilverado :: 2003 - Intermittent CEL Code P0304 / Misfire On Cylinder 4
My 2003 Silverado 5.3 has an intermittent CEL. I plugged in the reader and found code P0304, misfire #4 cylinder. I changed the coil, swapped the spark plug and wire from #2 cylinder to see if the code would follow. Nope, didn't follow. I swapped the injector also, same results. My daughter decided to borrow the truck and drove it so low on fuel that the low fuel light came on in the drive way. I added about 4 gallons of fuel and now the light went off. I started the engine after a jump start, and the engine really runs rough and now won't stay running. I am thinking that the fuel filter is probably needing changed because of how low the fuel.
I haven't checked the fuel pressure yet and will do that today. Now, what really puzzles me is the intermittent part. Sometimes it will run with no problem, but then the CEL will come on and the fun begins. The Chevrolet dealer says it's caused by the valves turning in the head and when it reaches a certain spot, it detects the misfiring #4 cylinder resulting in the CEL. If I pull in the driveway with the engine missing, go back out in a short time, start the engine and it runs fine. Same thing if it's running fine and I can start it and the CEL blinks and it begins missing, but may stop and run fine. I am stumped and not so sure about the turning valves.
Jeep - Liberty :: 2003 - Misfire On Cylinder 2 Code / Injector Is Bad
I have a 2003 Jeep liberty sport with 175k on it. it has a misfire cylinder 2 code. I replaced the plugs and coil packs on all 6 cylinders, noid light test on wires, compression check in all cylinders, everything works so far. I still have a check engine light for the misfire. I don't know if maybe the injector is bad for that cylinder, looks like it was recently replaced as with the other 6, or i have a leak of oil or air or coolant into that side either from the head gasket or intake gasket. the valve cover gaskets have been replaced recently as well.
View 6 RepliesFord F-150 - 1997-2003 :: Code P0306 - Cylinder 6 Misfire
So my 99 F-150, 4.2L started throwing a code a few weeks ago, P0306 #6 Cyl Misfire. This thing has got 238,000 and has been the most reliable commute vehicle I've owned.
Today I changed all the plugs and wires (they were due anyways) which didn't resolve the issue. After clearing the code, got about 3 miles out and it came back. Running SeaFoam through the system on this tank as well, but I'm leaning towards an EGR blockage like what is described here:
Sparky's Answers: 1999 Ford F150, P0306 Misfire Cylinder #6
I was about to buy a new coil pack but I'd rather not continue to throw parts at this, as I've read many others do with this same exact situation, only to end up with the same code. I've replaced the coil pack once already a few years ago when I lost a cylinder on the way to work.
Ford F-150 - 1997-2003 :: 1999 - Persistent Misfire In Cylinder 5
I have a 1999 F-150 4.2L with a misfire in #5 cylinder. I have replaced plugs, plug wires and coil pack, checked compression (147 psi) and ran 4 cans of seafoam thru it and still getting misfires on acceleration. It'a a 5 speed and it sounds rough and runs a lil rough as I go thru the first 3 gears, then it runs good as I get up to speed and cruises fine at 80mph. I'm thinking a bad fuel injector???
View 7 RepliesFord F-150 - 1997-2003 :: CEL Code P0301 / Misfire With Cylinder 1
My 97 F150 through a CEL Tuesday night P0301 so I picked up a new plug because it's cheap and simple, but that didn't do anything. Spark plug wires are about 3 months old, I also swapped injectors between 1 and 2, and misfire stayed with cylinder 1. It also gained a tap when the misfire started but only above idle, but it doesn't sound like a rod knock.
I also noticed if you unplug injector 1at idle it taps/knocks 3 or 4 times, however if you unplug any of the others it doesn't do that. I checked and I definitely have good spark from the plug. I plan on picking up a new compression tester tomorrow since mine never was returned. If you take the oil fill cap off it doesn't have any blow by at idle, however if you rev it you get a quick cloud out of it.
I thought about picking up a kit to check the injector pulse.
