Camry :: Radio Stopped Working With Some Crackly Noise Occasionally
2005 Camry LE. My aftermarket radio stopped working with some crackly noise occasionally. Then it started working occasionally. It had been working for several years. Popped the original radio/cd player into the spot while I figured out what I wanted to replace it with. CD player didn't work on the original, put it had been stored in the garage for years. Now, the original radio has gone out with what was described as a horrendous noise. So, what do you think? A short in the wires somewhere?
View 2 RepliesPrius (Gen 1) :: 2002 - Speakers Sound Distorted And Rattle When Turning Up Volume
My daughter has inherited a 2002 Gen I Prius, and is complaining about the stereo. Says the speakers sound distorted and rattle when she turns up the volume.
The car is hundreds of miles from me, so I don't know if it's bad speakers, poor speakers, bad amp, underpowered amp, or just general malaise from age.
Options for upgrading or replacing the stereo system?
As I recall, the stereo may not be as integrated as on the later generations, but it sure isn't easily replaceable with a 3rd-party unit.
Camry :: 2005 - Maintenance Required Light Takes A Long Time To Go Off
On our 2005 Toyota Camry, we have recently noticed that the maintenance-required light takes a long time to go off when the ignition is cycled. This is true whether the engine is started immediately or the key is simply left in the ON position until proveout is completed.
The car is up to date on all services and we see no other signs of an impending problem. At the moment we do not have the ability to retrieve OBD-II diagnostic codes. What could be going on?
Toyota - Camry :: 2007 - Humming Sound When AC And Audio On At Same Time
I have 2007 Camry that makes a humming noise when A/C and audio are on at the same time. Pitch increases as I press on the gas pedal and decrease to a steady level as I depress on the gas pedal. What could be a cause of this phenomenon?

View 5 RepliesGolf IV / Jetta IV :: Occasional Huge Thud Sound From Time To Time When Put Into Two Certain Gears
So I'm also noticing my car occasionally makes a huge thud sound from time to time when I put it into two certain gears. From park to reverse it's not loud but there's a little noise, but from any gear into Drive it's sometimes a loud boom and the car shakes. My pops mentioned to me this is dangerous because of how the engine is moving underneath the hood when it happens. I just recently changed the dog bone mount, could it be the others? I'm ware that it's wise to change all 3 if you change one but I was on a budget & it was a lot worse before. Someone mentioned it might be my torque converter but I did some research & the two symptoms don't add up. And I'll add once more that this happens occasionally & not every time I switch to a different gear. What it may be?

My new Passat SE seems to have a band of convex (concave?) glass about halfway up the the rear window, such that when I look in the rearview, cars behind me look like they're in one of those fun house mirrors that stretches them to look taller. I'm fairly certain this is in the window and not the mirror.
View 9 RepliesPrius (2004-09) :: Scraping Sound From Time To Time
Driving last night, I heard this horrible scraping sound from time to time, but I couldn't stop right away. When I got home, I saw that the bottom cover (or whatever the proper name for it is) had come loose at the left front -- I assume from hitting the ground once too often (damn this low clearance). I took a pic, but it's not too clear. The front edge is frayed a bit.
View 3 RepliesCamry :: 2005 - Flopping / Clunky Front Suspension Sound
Been having this problem for about a month now, and it seems like it keeps getting worse. The shocks feel like they are handling bumps ok....I feel no difference in how the car handles really.....but at lower speeds, going over bumps or pavement variations, I have a thuddy/clunky/floppy (I don't know the best way to describe it) sound coming from the suspension. I think it's from the front. I remember we had something similar to this before but it was in the rear, and I think the culprit ended up being something with the sway bar maybe? This front problem sounds much worse than the rear did though.

Camry 2012+ :: Hybrid XLE - Slight Crinkle / Rattle From Time To Time Coming From Headliner Area?
I own a 2012 Camry Hybrid XLE, but I'd imagine this issue could exist w/ any trim. Hear a slight crinkle/rattle from time to time coming from your headliner area? At times it almost sounds like someone padded your headliner with a plastic grocery bag.
I usually heard it on bumpy roads. I went through a nightmare with my dealer where they had my car for about 40 days trying to figure out the cause. They even replaced the headliner! (they did a lousy job too, w/ lots of oil smudges and scratches on my plastics)
Discovered the real cause of rattle. The sound actually comes from where the sun visor meets the headliner. The white plastic socket (pictured) where the sun visor plugs in has some wiggle room. When the car vibrates (be it from a bumpy road or what have you) it can slide against the interior cut out of the headliner. This makes an obnoxious crinkling sound.
At the moment I'm driving around with no sun visor on the passenger side-- and I also have no rattle (occasionally I might hear it from the driver side sun visor, but it's minor). I'll probably add some foam up there to add some more tension to alleviate the issue completely. Even just re-seating the sun visor and ensuring the screws are tight would probably have significant impact...
Santa Fe (CM - 2007-12) :: Backup Camera Display Distorted And Too Bright
Back in the spring my camera started intermittently not coming on, it was still under warranty so dealer replaced the camera. Three replacement cameras later and one radio later things are worse not better. the display now appears very distorted and overly bright- fluorescent. I'm so disappointed with the dealer and the fact that Hyundai uses refurbished parts. It's worse than the initial problem had been. What might be causing this other than bad equipment? My stress level over this is through the roof I paid a lot of money for the option pkg specifically for the back up camera. Hyundai made them replace the radio but that didn't fix it.

What could be the cause of the clanking sound from the rear of my car , i cant identify it if it comes behind the rear seats ( note that i dont have anything on my trunk) or from the rear under suspension, it clanks when i drive on uneven surface but vanishes when im on smooth asphalt surface.
View 1 RepliesCamry :: 2005 XLE - Grinding / Thumping Sound From Front Passenger Wheel
I have a 2005 Camry XLE. Since past few months I have started hearing a strange grinding / thumping noise from the front passenger side wheel. It can be clearly heard at slow speed and almost sounds like the wheel is lopsided and is rubbing against something. As the car picks up speed, the frequency picks up and the sounds disappears eventually.
So, I figured it must have been because the car had hit a curb few months ago and must have bent the rim. I had the wheels looked at while getting rotation and balancing done and was told that there is no rim damage. The sound went down a little after rotating the wheels but is still there. The mechanic doesn't think that it is the bearing because the sound disappears after moderate speeds. So, trying to figure out what could be causing the noise?
Camry :: 2005 - Loose Rattle Sound Coming From Front Right Strut
Just changed out the struts on my ACV36R Camry Altise. Fitted up some nice Monroe GT struts and Kings Springs (front and rear) as well as new Nolathane bushes throughout.
Now, everything is tight, checked over every nut and bolt with a torque wrench to the correct specs but I have a loose rattle sound coming from the front right strut. What it could be before I tear the whole lot out again? I've been around it with a rubber mallet trying to isolate the rattle but I can't replicate it by hitting any of the components that I've replaced.

My 2003 camry LE 4 cyl cooling/radiator fans stay on all the time. As soon as I turn the ignition key both radiator fan start to spin even though the car is cold and not on. '05 GLX, 55k miles. Got an MIL light last week and it showed a P0421 code. Took it to the dealer and they replaced the right bank catalytic converter. That was last Friday. Fast forward to Weds. of this week. MIL comes back on and mileage drops noticeably, but power doesn't seem affected. Back to dealer, they end up replacing the other cat. Does this seem normal? I'm trying to figure out what may have led to this. Car is basically stock. I do my own oil changes (never overfill) and swapped out the spark plugs at 45k miles with Bosch Iridiums. My 2005 Toyota matrix started having a lazy start as soon as I had the timing belt changed, and has even failed to start then gone back to lazy starting routine.
