Camry :: 2003 SE - Strange Grinding Noise During Acceleration
Experiencing a strange grinding noise, around the front right tire area, during acceleration?

I recently acquired a 2003 Camry with 150,000mi. its has a rough take off from stop and when I accelerate it make a rattling/grinding sound. the sound disapates after around 30mph. Ive changed trannyfluid, oil change next is plugs and all that good stuff since I do not know when it was done last.
View 4 RepliesPrius (2004-09) :: Rough Acceleration / Traction Control Light Came On Then Off
Just bought a 2004 with 240000 on it. Yesterday it started accelerating roughly. Today did the same and the traction control light came on and off several times. And just half hour ago I drove it about 10 minutes in town and the check engine light came on and stayed on.
View 19 RepliesTouareg :: 2004 Misfires - Rough Idle And Hesitating / Shaking Under Acceleration
It's a 2004 V8 Touareg with 100k miles.
Getting horrible misfires and they're jumping around to different cylinders + other intermittent codes. The symptoms are ROUGH idle, and hesitating/shaking under acceleration.
The MIL has never come on in this car. But, it illuminates when you turn the key forward. (Almost like previous owner coded the light out?)
Replaced all 8 spark plugs, just ordered 8 new ignition coils. Hoping the misfires are the coil packs but obviously theres some other stuff going on here.
Pulled codes 2 weeks ago:
1) random/multiple misfire (P0300)
2) misfire cylinder 4 (P0304)
3) misfire cylinder 8 (P0308 )
4) warm up catalyst efficiency below threshold bank 2 (P0431)
5) secondary air injection system insufficient flow bank 1 (P0491)
6) secondary air injection system insufficient flow bank 2 (P0492)
7) 02 Sensor Circuit Slow Response Bank 2 Sensor 1 (P0153)
Pulled codes 1 week ago:
1) random/multiple misfire (P0300)
2) misfire cylinder 2 (P0302)
3) misfire cylinder 3 (P0303)
4) 02 Sensor Circuit Slow Response Bank 2 Sensor 1 (P0153)
Pulled codes tonight:
1) random/multiple misfire (P0300)
2) misfire cylinder 2 (P0302)
3) misfire cylinder 3 (P0303)
4) misfire cylinder 4 (P0304)
Cleared codes. Swapped ignition coils from 2 & 3 with 7 & 8. Drove around the block, then re-ran them:
1) random/multiple misfire (P0300)
2) misfire cylinder 4 (P0304)
3) misfire cylinder 5 (P0305)
4) misfire cylinder 6 (P0206)
5) misfire cylinder 7 (P0307)
6) misfire cylinder 8 (P0308 )
Toyota - Corolla :: 2004 - Stalling / Running Rough And Hesitate On Acceleration
I'm having issues with my 2004 Toyota Corolla with 118K. Every few weeks, the car will go through a phase where it will stall out, run rough and hesitate on acceleration. Oftentimes it is accompanied with the rotten egg smell coming from the catalytic converter. When I decelerate to a stop light, the car will stall. When I start it back up, I have to rev the engine to 2000 rpm in neutral to keep it from re-stalling. Once I get up to about 10-15 mph, the car will jerk and sputter, and at 40mph, the jerking motion gets worse. If the car doesn't stall it'll run rough and have the rotten egg smell. I'm assuming the smell is from unburnt gas.
I find it happens more often when I don't let the car warm up for a few minutes. I've taken it to my mechanic, and i've gone through 2 MAF sensors, cleaned the throttle body. I changed the iridium plugs at 102K and am on top of maintenance with filters, oil and such. Of course when I bring it to the mechanic, the problems don't show up, and we are kinda blind to what could be causing the issue. Also, if I park it for a day or two after the issue occurs, the problems go away. What to look for?
Ford F-150 (2004-2008) :: No Power / Rough Idle And Bogs On Acceleration
My 07 F150 has no power. I changed the timing chain, cam phasers, spark plugs and all 8 coils and still no power. Rough idle and bogs on acceleration.
View 3 RepliesFord F-150 (2004-2008) :: Rough Idle / Stumbles Upon Acceleration On Highway
I have a 04 FX4 scab with a 5.4L and am having issues with it idling rough, and low power and stumbling upon acceleration and cruising speed. I did a scan and the codes show lean run condition, misfire on cyl 4, etc. I changed injector and coil on #4 and it seems worse. Scared to change the plugs, until I can leave the truck down a day or two in the event that I break one or more.
View 10 RepliesFord F-150 (2004-2008) :: Misfire / Rough Idle Under A Bit Of Load (acceleration) And Uphill
2005 Ford F150 lariat 5.4
I had a misfire under a bit of a load (acceleration) and up hills. I changed spark plus with OEM Motor craft ones, truck ran super nice for a couple week.
Had the engine light flash, slow down and the RPM go up a tiny bit then back down and the light goes off
Now I'm back to miss fire different location, and a rough idle. I've swapped coil packs around and the miss fire stayed on cylinder 4.
Spark plug screwed or injector or ?????
Camry :: 2004 2.2L Automatic - No Acceleration When Cold / Low Accelerator Motor
I have a 2004 camry 2.2L with 97,000, automatic. Yesterday it would start but had no acceleration and CEL. SO towed it home and scaned and got P2101, which said low accelerator motor. SO I cleaned the throttle body and everything was good and reset code. This morning same thing happened...it is around 18 degrees outside. After it warmed up outside no problem and no CEL? WTF? Obviously I have a problem with the throttle body when it's cold. What to try next?
View 9 RepliesCamry :: 2004 - Rattle Noise Coming From Inside Dashboard At Acceleration
I have a 2004 Camry with what is the most odd noise I've ever heard. The noise sounds like a cross between water trickling over stones and maybe bearings rolling around in a tube, or maybe someone crinkling paper. It sounds like it is coming from inside the dashboard, or maybe just beyond the firewall in the engine compartment.
It tends to occur when the vehicle is stopped and is just starting to accelerate from a stop. It can also occur when the vehicle is breaking to a stop. It doesn't sound like break pads (not grinding metal-on-metal sound).
At a stop, I can shift the automatic transmission into neutral and rev the engine a little and the sound will occur, but it doesn't seem to be dependent on any specific RPM nor does it co-vary based on increases or decreases in RPM. Basically, when I rev, the sound simply occurs. It is of variable intensity and duration, and is very random in peak of volume and sequence of noises. If I didn't know better, I'd swear there was a chipmunk under the hood (I looked, there isn't.)
I drive the car daily, but my regular trip to work is very short so the car runs for no more than 5 minutes each morning. In a five minute drive, with 4 stop sign/lights, the noise will occur basically every time I accelerate.
Camry :: 2004 XLE Rough Starts In The Morning
My 2004 Camry XLE 4 Cyl has rough starts in the morning. Idle is smooth after it starts, but it just doesn't start as smooth as it does every other start during the rest of the day. Its a significant difference.
Things I've done so far:
-Cleaned the mass airflow sensor with CRC Mass Airflow Cleaner
-Cleaned throttle body by following the DIY
-Changed the Air filter
-Changed Oil (upgraded to Mobile 1 Synthetic, changed filter to Bosch)
-Changed PCV Valve
-Changed Spark Plugs to Iridium Power
It doesn't seem to matter what the weather is like, either way it rough starts. It has been doing this for quite a while now, well before all this maintenance I've been doing lately.
Camry :: 2004 - CEL Code For Upstream O2 Sensor / Idles Very Rough
I just bought an 04 camry 4 cylinder. It was running perfect when I got it but the moment we got home it threw a CEL. The code was for an upstream o2 sensor, however I did a resistance test and the heater circuit is fine. I did a voltage test on the blue and white wires and I got 3.3v and 2.9v. I don't remember which wire gave me which voltage at the moment. I would like to know if this data is a good thing or if it's broken. I do not have any data to go off of, and I couldn't find the factory service manual online. Its also worth mentioning that it idles very rough and the catalytic converter is giving a rotten egg smell but not all the time. When neither of these things happen the CEL goes away. I do not want to start throwing parts at it.

"Workshop?" Will there by cuties there? Will I have to participate in small group discussions? What exactly happens at these workshops?
I've had this happen to me at least twice now since I've had the starter replaced @ Stohlman VW in N.VA. I've had some good experience with them thus far considering I've drop quite a bit of money into their service: complete hvac rebuild, starter, replaced a couple of pistons, etc...
Before I dive head first into replacing the alternator, is there a slight chance that the 2 are related? I figure I could try & fix it myself b/4 my car turns into a money pit.
There's no real rhyme or reason when the warning light comes on, I do notice that I hear some sort of grinding noise under acceleration. If I'm in neutral & coast, the warning light cuts off. It's not throwing any codes that I know of. I've got around 77K on the car now.
Other things I've read I could do too. Check:
1) battery terminals
2) slip clutch pulley
3) belt & tensioner
Passat (B5) :: Grinding Noise Upon Acceleration
Today when I made a complete stop and accelerated, I heard a grinding sound. It wasn't the clicky noise. It isn't super loud and it only lasted 2 seconds every time I accelerated. Then I drove to the mechanic shop to ask the mechanic about it but I didn't end up leaving the shop since his lot was full. When I stopped at the mechanics, I shut off my engine. Anyway, I started my car and drove away, there was no more grinding noise.
View 2 RepliesSonata NF (2006-10) :: Rattling / Grinding Sound During Acceleration
I have a 2008 Hyundai Sonata GLS 2.4L with 131,000 miles on it. When I accelerate from a stop, there is a buzzing/rattling/grinding noise coming from the engine bay of my car. It's really hard to describe, there is a definite buzzing sound, but also almost like there is a bolt rattling around and banging into things. This only happens for a couple of seconds. It also seems to be worse when I'm accelerating up hill. If I accelerate slowly from a stop, the noise does not occur, and it also does not occur if I accelerate while I'm already moving.
View 4 RepliesSonata I45 (LF 2015+) :: Grinding / Metallic Sound Under Acceleration?
I have been having a grinding/metallic sound when going up hills in 4th/5th gear. It sounds like if you threw metal into moving parts. I believe it's coming from my engine or transmission. When i was at the dealer last month for a campaign and ecm upgrade i mentioned this problem and they replaced the vcm motor assy, however the problem still exists. What could be causing this problem?
View 3 RepliesCamry :: 2004 Car Running Rough - Temperature Gauge Not Reading Hot But White Steam From Hood
My girlfriend has a 2004 Toyota Camry SE, 2.4, 4 cly, with 198k miles. All maintenance has been done per book guidance since she has owned the car. The other day the car began running really rough on her way home. as soon as she put it into park and lowered rpm the car stalled out. temperature gauge did not read hot, but noticed white steam comes from hood when i seen she pulled up, Opened hood let cool down and coolant looked nasty as heck. So I did coolant flush and replaced the thermostat as per advised from parts store. Did not make a difference because during test drive, half mile down the road, car temperature gauge was reading hot. Shut the car down waited 10 to 15 minutes and drove back home.
Altogether drove roughly 10 miles max in hot condition is stop and cool down and go again mode. Also note, this is the first time using a forum of this sort. Along with, I'm not a mechanic as some are, but I know my way around a tool box no problems. I'm on the verge of just ordering new water pump, belts, fans, fan relays switches, radiator and all since I'm going to be in there to fix it anyways.
Passat (B5) :: Clutch Chatter / Odd Grinding Noise When Turning Under Acceleration
My car is making an odd grinding noise when im turning under acceleration. I can only hear it at low speeds but it may be doing it at higher speeds and i just cant hear it.
The noise happens when I am turning both left and right and only when accelerating and seems to dissipate as I pick up speed or change from turning to going straight.
Car has 100k miles on it and don't think the clutch has been replaced.
Car is an all stock b5.5 wagon v6 30v 5 speed.
