Camry :: 2006 - Humming Sound When Put The Car Into Gear

I have an 06 4-cylinder Camry LE. I recently had the belt tensioner, idler bearing, and water pump replaced under warranty. I originally went in to have it looked at because it was making a rattling/humming sound when I put it into gear, but would go away for the most part after running down the road for awhile. The other day, I had to back up to the house (on an incline) and it started making that same noise, but louder. For the most part, it goes away after driving, but I can still feel that humming vibration in the gas pedal however. I took it into the dealer and had them inspect it again. I was told that it is nothing to be concerned about. The computer was checked and came back clean. It was stated in my invoice as the following:

"Due to prolonged disconnect of the battery during previous repair. The engine needs to relearn all it's preset values. This condition is not a problem."

I have stumbled across others stating a possible valve issue, along with "you need to replace the water pump," which I already did.

Camry :: Steering Wheel Flutter And Humming Sound

A few months back my 2007 Camry started having this vibration along with a humming/buzzing sound between the speeds of 40-70mph. I seriously thought it was an axle/hub/bearing issue because of the buzzing sound. But at the same time the brakes were wearing down and noticed the shaking of the rotors when braking so kind of figured it may just be that. Explained to the Toyota people and they said most likely new brake service will fix the issue and not an axle/bearing issue. So went ahead and had the brake service done for both front & rear but the vibration & sound is still there. Can't be the tires because just got new ones just last year. Balanced & alignment done and still doesn't solve the problem. Found a TSB, T-SB-0106-08: Steering Wheel Flutter/Body Vibration at highway speeds (approximately 65-75mph).

Toyota - Camry :: 2007 - Humming Sound When AC And Audio On At Same Time

I have 2007 Camry that makes a humming noise when A/C and audio are on at the same time. Pitch increases as I press on the gas pedal and decrease to a steady level as I depress on the gas pedal. What could be a cause of this phenomenon?

Toyota - Sienna :: 2008 - Clicking Sound When Go Around A Right Hand Curve

I have a intermittent problem with the abs. when I go around a right hand curve there is a clicking sound. This happens between 30 and 40 mph. When I go around a left hand curve the brakes will grab, with the skid i-con illuminate , but no fault code. I have had the toyota dealership looked at it. But they couldn't duplicate. I also had a independent mechanic look at it, he put the computer on it.

Camry 2012+ :: 2013 SE With Faint Droning / Humming Sound - Suspension Noise?

I love the car, but had a few small gripes, including ride firmness and road noise. Well, the ride firmness has definitely calmed down a great deal over the first 3500 miles to now I find it has a perfect balance of handling vs. comfort. It's firm, but the bumps are not as jarring as those first 500 miles or so. I'm very happy with it.

The 2nd issue I hd/have, is road noise... or rather... I think... suspension noise. It's a faint droning/humming sound that I think comes mostly from the rear. You can start hearing it at 20-30mph on all but the smoothest of roads. The noise seems to be *in addition* to the very, very minimal tire noise I hear from the very nice stock Michelins. The harsher the road, the louder the noise of course.

My guess (and it's only a guess?) is that the metal bushing ('pillow ball') in the rear along with the other firmer suspension parts are the primary cause of this noise.

So I have tried a couple of things to try and counteract this noise:

1) Put D'amplifier Pro in the trunk - Got down the bare metal and put the stuff all of the place back there... Above the wheel wells also.

This did not stop the noise I hear.

2) I then put some sound deadening foam mats above both rear wheel wells.

This did not work.

The strange thing is that this noise is pretty faint, but unmistakable... however if I move my head forward (say, right in line with the steering wheel) 2 feet.... I barely hear it. But when I move back to the normal driving position, there it is.

Kia - Sorento :: 2005 - Pulsing Sound When Turn Left Driving Even On Smallest Curve

I have recently noticed a noise... to describe it would be difficult, but I'll give it a shot. There is a pulsing sound, maybe coming from my front left wheel area? It happens when I turn left driving, even on the smallest curve. From what I can tell, the pulsing sound does NOT change speed when I speed up or slow down. My initial thoughts were a bad wheel bearing, but I'm not so sure. Could it be power steering?

My Kia does have 130000 miles on it, and I just purchased it used a year ago, so I'm not exactly sure what maintenance or repair has been done on it.

Lexus GX 2004-09 :: Humming Sound When Hit 70 Mph

I hear this humming sound when hit 70mph and I am on the gas. However it lasts till 73mph or so and go away!. Below is the pattern I observed;

1. On gas (accelerating), when hit 70mph (not even 69 mph) I start hearing humming sound. It will last till 73mph and goes away. Not able to pin point the source. I feel it is originating somewhere closer to transmission shift.

2. Decelerate from above 73mph and no gas given, when hit 70 I don't hear the sound. Press the gas pedal, I hear.

3. Set the cruise at 70, I hear.

4. The hmmmm sound appears only between 70-73 mph speed and while on gas.

What is this sound?. What is the source?

Golf IV R32 :: Humming Sound Whenever Left Off The Gas?

Just to start off my tires are hankook ventus v4's

- 2 months ago I had my tires rotated front to rear for the first time since ive owned the car. (Previous owner had put new tires a little before i bought it) Pulling away I immidiately noticed a humming sound whenever i left off the gas. Sounded kind of like the tire was rubbing against the fender but nothing was. Went back and they said it was just the way the tires had worn.

- A couple days later I had the tires rotated BACK to the way they originally were and the noise was gone.

- OK, so a couple weeks ago i go to put two front tires and get a four wheel alignment. After this the noise started right up again. Went back and they said it was because the alignment had been so off that it had caused the rear tires to wear uneven.

- FINALLY, i went back and put two rear tires of the exact same type and guess what...the noise didnt go away...at all

So ive ruled out it being a noise from the tires as they are all brand new. The tire shop said that it could be the wheel bearings but ive always known for wheel bearings to make a deeper hum and this noise is only when i left off the gas and increases with speed, touch the gas and it goes away.

Alero :: 2003 - Loud Humming Sound At 40 MPH+?

Our car is a 2003 2.2L 4 Door. 132,000 miles.

About 3 days ago it started doing this thing where once we hit somewhere between 30-40 mph, it started making a low pitch humming sound. At 40 MPH+ it is very loud. To me it sounds like an airplane, I don't know how else to explain it. There is no shaking, though sometimes I can almost feel the vibration from the humming at my feet. My husband says that the higher the RPM's, the louder and slightly higher pitched the sound is. If we go below 30 MPH it stops.

We were a little late on our oil change and I assumed that was it, but got it changed today and it's still doing it. Other than that, about 2 and a half weeks ago, our rear driver side tire went flat. My husband was in the middle of no where on the way home from work so he used Slime and that fixed it (never went to get it repaired because we didn't have the time and it didn't go flat again).

Could it be that the tires are not balanced correctly because of that, and it is causing the humming?

Also, this may be completely unrelated but: The only other problem we have had/still have with the car is that about 2 years ago we drove from Texas to Nevada, and at one of our stops the coolant dumped out (did not overheat/no other issues). Took it to 2 different shops and they couldn't find anything wrong with it. Drove fine until 6 months ago driving from Nevada to New Mexico, it did it again, but this time it also overheated. The mechanic said it was the water pump. Replacing the water pump (which is expensive!) did not fix it, so without consulting us they also changed the thermostat. Charged us for both, told us it was fixed, and about 2 month ago it did it again, but did not overheat/no other issues again. Hasn't done it since...seems it only happens on long drives. Anyway, I don't think it's related, but I thought I'd mention it.

Golf IV R32 :: Loud Humming Sound In Trunk

I am hearing this buzzing sound in my trunk its really loud for ex: those annoying sounds people played as kids that people over "18" cant hear...back to the point its by my rear left tail light inside that area where all the wiring is also kinda hear it where the spare tire is all my lights work I unplugged the light and it still made the sound! It only does it when the car is running. Car is stock aside that it has no radio and the cd changer in the area that noise is coming from idk if its because a few wires that connect to the cd changer or what ever it is are unplugged but its coming from that area of the car its really high pitch and annoying.

Subaru - Outback :: Loud Low Humming Sound

This is a question about a Subaru Outback, but probably pertains to many other cars as well. I have a 2006 Subaru Outback with 112K miles. I bought new tires for it in May 2012, and in September 2013 I started to notice a low humming/buzzing sound while driving. I looked online and came up with 2 options - either the wheel bearings or the tires. Because the sound changed pitch depending on the road surface, I thought it must be the tires. I took it in for an oil change and had the mechanics check the bearings. They said the bearings were fine, but the tires were cupping and feathering badly because I hadn't rotated them, and that was the source of the noise.

I had them rotate the tires and do an alignment and went on my way. The sound slowly got worse - it peaks at ~65 MPH and then changes pitch above 70 MPH and is not so bothersome - and I started to lose gas mileage ( 4-5 MPG). On Dec. 30, 2013 I took it in for the next oil change and bought brand new tires - Bridgestone Turanza Serenity designed for quietness - and had them do an alignment, and drove away only to find that the noise is still there and I still have lousy gas mileage.

My next thoughts were the transmission or the catalytic converter, but since the noise doesn't change when I take my foot off the gas or put it in neutral I don't think it is either one of those. The alignment showed that the Caster on both front tires is off, but since both tires are off by roughly equal amounts I was told that this is not something to worry about. I do occasionally notice some vibration while driving or while idling, but it is intermittent and I don't think it has anything to do with the noise.

Sonata I45 (YF - 2011+) :: Humming Sound At Front End When Fan Is On

I've noticed that when I have the fan on...A/C on or off...there is a humming noise coming from the front of the car at approximately 900RPM - 1100RPM... At first I thought it was the A/C compressor but there's a sound even without the A/C on... the sound is like a motor running, low pitch sound...it is very noticeable when you are driving at very low speeds like when you drive around a parking lot looking for a spot... it is also noticeable when you are coasting to a red light or stop sign and the RPM's hit about 1000... not sure if it's the fan making the noise because it doesn't have enough lubrication or something of a bigger problem...

Lexus ES 2013+ :: Humming Sound At The Back Of Car

2013 ES350 silver for my wife - bought 3 months ago and drove 600 miles.

About one month ago, I could hear a humming sound at the back of the car (somewhere around backseat or in the trunk). At that time, car was parked in the garage. This sound is similar to having several honey bee in that area and humming at the same time. The sound disappeared by itself after several hours.

Yesterday, it happened again. We parked the car in the garage around 4pm and did not hear this sound at that time. At around 10pm, when I went to garage to get some tools, I heard this humming sound again. This morning, as soon as I woke up, I checked the car and the sound is gone.

I am not sure if there are any other reports of similar issue for 2013 ES350, or maybe this issue is just for my particular car? And this humming sound is not always there, so I am not sure how to repeat it in the repair department. Maybe I need to bring it to delaership and just let service technician take a look.

Golf/GTI VII :: Humming Sound At Highway Speed

My DSG Autobahn 4 dr with 4800 miles has developed a humming and vibration at highway speeds and my dealer and I are stumped as to what it is. I don't really hear the humming until 60mph+ but then its a 1 second pulsing hum coming from the front of the car and I can feel some vibration through the pedals and floor board.

The dealer has checked all wheel bearings and actually replaced the passenger side front bearing. They have also rotated all the tires and one rim that was slightly bent was swapped with another wheel but this did nothing to eliminate the sound. I'm waiting for my dealer to get back to me of when a VW engineer would be available to have go at it.
