Accent MC (2006-11) :: Leaking Oil From The Top Of The Shocks
Her 2008 Accent is leaking a thick oil from the top of the shocks. I noticed it when switching the summer wheels back on. The mileage is low at only 36000 Km/ 22500 Miles. Not a lot of use on them. I guess 8 years and the seals just can't seal no more. This car was well cared for since new.
The ride feels fine but I'll be looking for a sale on rear shocks.
Accent MC (2006-11) :: Valve Cover Leaking?
Haven't had the engine cover off for about 25k now (cleaned it up under there last time I changed plugs.) Took it off today and noticed it's a little oily on all four sides around the valve cover.
Pretty sure I can account for the oil that's near the filler cap... I don't recall spilling enough that would completely go around the entire valve cover though...
But how did it end up so high on top of the valve cover on the corners? It's even a little wet looking on the back if you look hard enough..
I only have 4600 miles left of the 10/100 warranty so I'm glad I caught this and hope the dealer can do something about it... or are they going to tell me this a "normal" amount of seepage? I haven't owned a vehicle with plastic valve covers before so I don't quite know what to expect.
Accent MC (2006-11) :: Coolant Leaking Via Radiator Cap
I have an '09 Accent, with 102,000 miles on it, it is in good shape, and current on all its maintenance, however, i am leaking coolant via the radiator cap, and don't know why. It has been replaced twice, once by me, and once at the dealership after a pressure check confirmed i was not leaking anywhere else, ie: into the engine.

I have a 2009 Accent that has a wheel cylinder leaking. I don't have any flare nut wrenches. Its supposed be a 11 mm. I ran across a few WEB pages and videos that state that a 7/16" fits better? I know I could by both sets, 7/16 would be a better choice?

I bought a 2001 Accent GL 1.6 automatic today, for a good gas millage get around car.. It runs great, no over heating or any of that type of stuff.. When I backed out from the sellers driveway to test drive, I got out to look for leakage anywhere on the driveway.. I saw nothing.. Looked fine. Drove it, then eventually bought the car.. Drove it home, all is fine.. Well my driveway is at about a 45 degree angle not flat at all..
So I pulled into the driveway.. Front end facing upward.. A while later I went out just to look around.. Noticed it leaking right in the center pretty much of engine.. Thought it was oil at first.. But it almost has that gear oil smell to it.. Hint of it anyway.. So, I thought, great.. Pulled it into the garage where it is level ground.. No leaking at all on level ground.. Pulled it back out and parked it on the driveway front end pointed down this time.. No leak.. Just leaking when facing upward on the hill..
Accent MC (2006-11) :: Leaking Through Dash - Water Soaking Passenger Floor Board And Getting Into Heater Fan
I have an 08 Accent hatchback, no sunroof. I am having water soaking the passenger floor board and getting into the heater fan. If I park on a side hill it actually drips out of the bottom of the fan motor, and you can hear it being sprayed inside it when going around a corner. Checked the windshield - seal is good, took off the cowling under it and everything was dry - including the filter for the fresh air, so it doesn't appear to be coming down through there. I even poured about 8 gallons of water down the windshield and into the run-off channel at the bottom of the windshield and nothing seemed to get into the fan or leak into car, however, by the time I drove it home 4 hours later, it was in the fan again. Is there some other way to for it to getting to the fan? It's not coming from the door side, as it is usually dry on that side when it first starts getting wet, but rather it stars from the left of the passenger foot well.

I noticed quite a bit of oil on my alternator recently, and it looks like oil is leaking out of the sides of my engine. Does this mean that my valve cover gasket needs replacing and if so what should a mechanic charge for this i.e. how long should the job take?

2007 Accent GLS. I have oil in the intake going towards the engine. I know a bit of a mist is normal but mine drips once I remove the intake. I changed the PCV valve but its still there. Intake filter was also changed and I got an oil change. The car also feels like it staggers once I take my foot off the gas.
Also after driving on the highway for about an hour the car wants to stall if I go above 100km/h but its fine below 100km/h.
I have new spark plugs, got the fuel system cleaned at the Stealer, changed the coils, new air intake filter.
Accent MC (2006-11) :: Engine Dies When Comes To A Stop?
In the last 6 weeks my 2007 Accent has died when I've come to a stop. Once in traffic on the freeway and the rest at stop signs or lights. The car will start back up and won't die again for a week maybe. Nothing consistent. I took it to a mechanic and nothing shows up on the computer. I took it to the dealer, still nothing on the computer. He cleaned the throttle body I think and put an additive in the tank. Two days later it died at a stop sign. Automatic transmission. Ok, what's the problem?

I have a 2011 Hyundai Accent 1.6L. A few weeks after I bought it w 38,000 miles, it started misfiring so I replaced the spark plugs. It ran great for about another 6 months and started misfiring again. I took it to Hyundai to have it fixed and of course it wouldn't do it for them. I told them what it was doing and they said that there was no code so it was probably my spark plugs. I replaced my plugs with the OE plugs and got the same trouble about 4 months later. Now it has 60,000 miles and my warranty is done. I put in new plugs yesterday and it only ran well until it warmed up and it did the same thing. I ordered new, better than OE Delphi coils yesterday and I'll get them today. I feel like there's a bigger problem with the system that's causing the problem with the coils.

It's been very hot for the past few weeks and I've been using my AC a lot. I've noticed that when the AC is on (4th setting, Max A/C), the engine works a lot harder when taking off from a stand still and going up hills. I can hear the engine struggling and I've often spotted the tach hitting close to 5,000 RPMs when taking off casually from a red light. It only does this with the AC on. I've recently replaced my engine and cabin air filters so I am ruling those out. Is it normal behavior?

Encountered the said issue where the ABS light will not go off even after engine started.
After a 30 mins smooth drive, I park my car and went off for 10 minutes. Back to the car and it took longer time than usual to start the engine. (normally took only 1 second to start the engine). It feels like the battery is not properly charge.
After a short drive, my parking brake aka hand brake and ABS light appear at the same time when the car is moving. Stop my car aside, restart engine, parking brake back to normal. ABS light will not go off since then. Starting the car seems easy as usual though.
Accent MC (2006-11) :: Engine Just Stopped Running In Traffic
My 2007 Accent just quit running setting in traffic. Checked fuel pump fuses and relay, all ok. What else could it be? Has 100,000 miles on it. Just turned over yesterday.

My Accent recently died in traffic. All of the electronic components seem to be working. The engine cranks but does not turn over. I removed the spark plugs and they were soaked in gasoline and the plugs on the 1st and 2nd cylinder had a black residue. I dried them off and tried to start the car again, no luck. The spark plugs were soaked in gas.
Over the summer (5 months ago) 2 ignition coils fouled out and I replaced them along with all of the spark plugs.
Accent MC (2006-11) :: Check Engine Light Steady On
This morning started to drive to work and the check engine light came on or actually did not go off. Not sure which. Anyway it is a steady light not blinking and the car runs fine. Problem is that the warranty is out by about 3 weeks, not by mileage and I have an appointment at the dealer on Monday. If I take it to Partsource and have the code read will it delete the code or turn off the light. Just wondering as I don't want to spend money at the dealer if whatever is wrong is not covered under the emissions warranty if I can get the code and fix it myself. Don't want the code deleted either if the dealer needs it.

As the title says, my CEL goes on and flashes too.
I've read up a bit on why the CEL comes on/flash and it says it has something to do with the exhaust system and if continue operating will damage the catalyst converter (which I don't understand since I'm a car dummy.
In addition, the engine vibrates like crazy. I can feel the engine vibrating when I'm inside the car as well.
I already got the car tolled to the dealership and they kinda just told me it might be misfirings and then they said they couldn't locate the problem. So my car basically has to stay there until they open again on Monday and hopefully they will figure out the problem/fix it under the warranty and call me back.
The problem arise late Friday night and I just did a 30K maintenance on Thursday. (but the car already has 43,000 miles on it).
Accent MC (2006-11) :: Check Engine Light Has Been On - Code VSS
My check engine light has been on for months and the only code coming up is for the VSS. I got the VSS replaced and the light came back on as soon as I hit 70 on the freeway. Checked the code again and the same one came up. Is this a common issue with 06 Accents? I'm wondering if it might be a wiring or computer issue... My ABS light is also on, would this have anything to do with it?

I just bought a used 2009 Accent. After a few months, I had it in for an oil change and the mechanic said there was NO air filter even installed in the car. Obviously I know enough that I need one, so I had one put in. Within a few miles of doing that, the check engine light came on. I took it to autozone and it gave error P0172 which appears to be an oxygen sensor. I would really like to know if it's possible the previous owner took the air filter out on purpose because they knew that the check engine light would come on if they put one in.... etc?
