Eye Disorders :: 2D Vision And A Squint In Both Eyes

I was born with 2d vision and a squint in both eyes. Also have monocular vision.

I have had 6 operations, 3 on each eye to correct eyes.

I believe that my right eye is getting worse. Vision wise, and squint too.

I only had my glasses changed last November, then only 2 months ago. And Already is my right vision with my new glasses getting worse again. That's only 2 months.

I am seeing someone this Tuesday about it as my optician thinks it's to do with my squint and hitting my head as to why my vision is getting worse.

I was just curious as I am struggling with stairs. If I don't know the stairs I have to hold on and go slow. Like yesterday was in a shop and the stairs was all the same wood, I thought I was going to fall down them as I walked up to them but didn't prepare myself, the feeling is horrible feel like you're on the edge of a cliff. If I know the stairs and they are not too wide. But also my question is, can I drive? I drive now, but have always said I struggle.

Vision Disorders :: Sensitivity To Screens - Computer, Phone And TV

I'm 19 years old, I've had glasses for a long time (got me newest prescription 5 months ago), and I'm always on my computer. I spend many hours a day on it because I have college online and all of my hobbies include using a PC. But for the past few days, my eyes have started hurting within a few minutes of looking at any bright screens. Even scrolling up and down through web search results makes me a little queasy. Nothing has changed about my lifestyle or health except that I have a rough sinus infection that started around the time the eye problems did.

Again let me reiterate: this has never ever happened before. I'm not on the computer anymore now than I have been in the past, this is just a sudden thing.

I seem to be alright when I'm not looking at a screen, but I haven't driven anywhere so I'm afraid the motion my make it difficult. I scheduled an eye exam already, but it'll be two weeks before I can go in so is there anything that might ease my mind, or at least make sense of my situation?

Sjogren's - Atrophied And Scarred Over Salivary Glands

For the past 14 months, we have been trying to firm up my diagnosis. I went to a new rheumatologist who suspects sjogrens- maybe also UCTD. I already saw an eye doctor who confirmed that my eyes are dry. I just saw an ENT a few hours ago who biopsied my salivary glands. She did an incision by my lower lip but couldn't find any salivary glands. She said that they may have atrophied and scarred over. She had to do a second incision in another area and was able to find some salivary glands. On one hand, I am happy that I may finally have a dx but I am scared that I do have Sjogrens. The ENT said that the absence of the salivary glands in the first incision site could be consistent of a dx of Sjogren's. The eye doctor also said the same thing about the tear production.

Eye Care :: Retina Detachment

My eye doctor saw something strange about my retina so she sent to a retinal specialist. After a 3 hour thorough exam he stated to me that sometime ago I had a detached retina and since I didn't notice, it healed itself. He stated that this do not happen often when a retina will heal itself. I have some damage but nothing very serious. There is a tiny blind spot when I look up but that is all. I feel very blessed that it healed because this should blinded me. Does anyone know if this has happened to anyone they know? I do have to be seen by the specialist every 6 weeks for a while. But considering the alternative...I have been blessed.

Eye Care :: Detached Retina

I fell off a 2nd story Building onto a concrete driveway, my L-1 was compressed 40%, my L-3 and L-4 disk was chruched along with the L-5 and S-1.  My question is:  I hit my head hard landing on the concrete driveway, bleeding and leaving a bump and my vision in my left eye started to have black dots and finally a Detached Retina.

Was this Detached Retina from my Fall?

Vision / Eye :: Flying Black Dots In My Peripheral Vision

I'm not particularly worried about this but I'd rather know what it is. I quite commonly will get, after stretching or getting up suddenly, flying black dots in my peripheral vision. These tiny black dots just appear, fly in a direction, then disappear. A bit like a swarm of flies in the corner of my eye except they keep appearing and disappearing individually. It might last up to five seconds or so. Then it's gone and I feel fine. I'm pretty sure I've had this for years.

Eye Care :: Horseshoe Tear In Retina

A week or so ago I was at my daughter's who happens to work for an eye doctor. I laughing said, I thought it was a hair in my face but there isn't anything there. She said OH Mom that's not good. That evening I started seeing flashes in the corner of my eye. She told me to call her Boss who told me that this was most likely Posterior Vitreous Detachment which is common when you age but told me what to look for if anything changed. Within two days things certainly started changing. He had me come in and I had a horseshoe shaped tear. The next day I had retina surgery that don't let them tell you doesn't hurt, because it does!

Because of this tear, I now have a macular pucker and cataracts I didn't have before. Also I still have flashes and a lot of floaters.

They repaired the tear but I have lost the normal sight in that eye. I have a blurry spot in the center of my vision that looks like when your glasses are dirty. Let light hit my face and oh my goodness! Out of trial and error I realized if I put on my amber sunglasses that it helps cut the glare.

Has anyone had their vision return after developing a Macular Pucker? They say that the floaters should go away in six weeks. I sure hope they are correct.

Retina Migraine - Blind Migraines A Couple Of Years Ago

I started getting these 'blind' migraines a couple of years ago. I went to see a specialist, had a brain scan and blood tests, and this is the name given to my problem. They start with an aura, usually over one eye and then develop slowly. I end up seeing wwwww inside one eye. It takes 20/40 minutes for it to disappear. I am usually left with a sore head rather than a painful migraine.

They have been quiet since Christmas and for some reason have started again. I can't seem to find much out about them on the internet and thought I would come onto this great site to see if anyone else has the same type of symptoms.

It may help to know I am female and in my 60's. Have suffered all types of migraine since I was about 13. I don't drink much either. Maybe a glass of wine now and again.

Epilepsy :: Vision Blurry

I was diagnosed with epilepsy about a year ago. I have for the past 3 year had strange eye sight. When i spoke with my neurologist she had never heard of it before. The only way that i can describe it is the vision you get after about 2-3 pints. I have been to the opticians and my eyes are perfectly fine. It is worse when i am outside and can make me feel dizzy and light weighted. Any advise would be appreciated. It makes me not want to go out.

Vision / Eye :: Eye Numbness Due To Muscle Relaxant

About a week ago i took a muscle relaxer before i went to bed to help me sleep. about 30 minutes after i did my left eye/socket went completely numb. to the point where i could not go to bed. after about an hour i went to sleep. woke up and it was gone. well about 3 days later i was laying down watching a movie in bed laying on my stomach so my eyes were angled upward. after the movie my left eye hurt so i rubbed it. after rubbing it the numbness came on again. when i went to bed and woke up it was still there. it is in the top of my eye where my eye meets the eye socket. kind of feels like my eye lid. it has lasted 4 days so far. i also just got over a spirit of derealization from a severe amount of stress.

Blurred Vision After Corneal Ulcer

Two weeks ago my eye began to tear continuously, and I was sensitive to sunlight. The next day my eyes were paining and were red and tearing, and I could not stand the presence of light. Whenever light appeared, I had sharp pain in my right eye and constant tearing. I tried to sleep that night but could not. I went to a local eye doctor who said I had a corneal ulcer due to bacterial infection through contact lens and referred me to a cornea specialist. The specialist prescribed me a number of antibiotic drops such as Vigamox, Amphotericin B etc. Next time I visited( 5 days later), he said the ulcer was healing. He cultured my cornea scraping and it was determined as pseudomonas spp. So I was prescribed ciplox(as it was determined sensitive to ciprofloxacin) and Vigamox. 7 days later, my eye is now almost clear and the pain and redness is gone but my vision is incredibly blurry, as if I am looking through a cloud. At times, my vision seems to be getting better, but then, particularly in the morning, it is blurry. Can anyone tell me how their vision came back during the healing process? Was it a steady progression or uneven? When did the blurriness go completely? How long does the recovery process last? How do I know how much scarring has or will occur?My doctor tells me that he does not know how much scarring I will have or how much of my vision will return, so I am very scared. I am a software developer, and now I can't read anything clearly and all activities have been on hold. This is particularly hard for me as I just can't sit at home all day. Would someone please share his experience or knowledge? Thank you, Sananda.

Eye Care :: Floaters And Blurred Vision

Suddenly today I noticed that I seemed to have a film over my right eye and I was experiencing floaters. I had multifocal lens replacement surgery a couple years ago. Everything went well. It was the best thing I had done. I wore glasses since I about 7. I had a couple small floaters before the surgery but only saw them now and then. I had put some oil on my face earlier today and was wondering if some had gotten into my eye , would it have caused this to happen? I put saline drops in my eye and visine thinking this may have been the cause. trying to rinse out my eye. It did not help and am getting worried that something may be wrong. What worries me is that it came on sort of fast and has been the same all day. I also have been under a lot of stress lately, working long hours. Would really like some advice on what to do.

Optic Neuritis - Vision Of One Is Darkened

Over the past few days I have been experiencing pain behind the eye which had optic neuritis previously. Tonight as I was reading to my son in a dark room, with a lamp to my left, I noticed that vision from my right eye was normal, while from the left, it was significantly darkened. Maybe this is a question of physics, and how light falls and is perceived. I have also been dealing with headaches over the past week or so. I am at a loss now to know whether the eye pain is to do with the headaches, which may be brought on by the amantadine I started (how long for side effects to show? this would be the first headache side effect after about 3.5 weeks), or if this is optic neuritis again. Anyone here any good with physics and physics of light especially?

Eye Care :: Distortion Of Peripheral Vision

I'm wondering if anyone has ever experienced distortion in their peripheral vision. It's a bit difficult to explain, but it's almost like objects are a different shape in my peripheral vision than when I look straight at them. It often looks like straight lines are bent in my peripheral vision, or objects just seem to shift position but then shift back when I look back at them. Sounds very odd I know. I do have astigmatism on both eyes, but is this a normal symptom of that?

I have some other odd visual symptoms, such as trembling vision (straight lines appear to tremble) and light sensitivity. I had a virus about 6 weeks ago which I'm still struggling to recover from - achiness, fatigue, some muscle weakness. I've had blood tests, MRI brain scan and my eyes fully inspected by 2 ophthalmologists.
