Varicose Vein - 23 Years Of Age

I have problem with my legs, i have 23 and i'm not overweight i think i'm active. i already have treatment - sclerotherapy on one leg and now it's ok. Recently i sign up at the gym and i saw that if i'm do e.g squats or stand long time, some veins on my second leg, near tibia are getting protrusion and soft when touching. so i guess it's early stage of varicose vein.

Now i wonder what to do, wear some compression on leg while being on the gym and everything will be fine? or just let go going to gym.

Varicose Vein Treatment Under General Anaesthetic Fear

I'm due in for varicose vein treatment this week and I have been advised to have this done under a General Anaesthetic because all of my veins cannot be treated under a Local. I'm also super anxious that even under a local I'll need chilling out!

I'm absolutely petrified, I've called the hospital, spoken to my gp etc and all seem so unworried and matter of fact about it. I just want to talk to someone and not go into detail on their responses to help me get through this. I'm not sleeping, I'm so anxious that weight is falling off me, I am really really scared. It's not the procedure, I am at ease with that element, it is having the anaesthetic and I'm worried something will go wrong that is concerning me. What's worse is I know I'm ridiculous and that makes me worse. I've asked for sedation but I'm told this is dangerous. I've been told I'm more likely to have a real bad car accident etc but this doesn't help me because if there is a risk then it can happen.

I just feel like I'm not going to be able to go into the hospital on the day. I know that I need to get a grip but I just can't, I really cant.

For reference I'm a 40 yo male and have never had a General Anaesthetic before.

Deep Vein Thrombosis :: Bruise Or Vein? Tender Spot On The Back Of My Thigh

I have pretty bad anxiety but I've been noticing some strange things lately. Sometimes after being on my feet all day my left calf will burn and pulse with pain until i sleep and then its gone in the morning. had a blood clot test performed for it before and it came clear, although its happened even worse afterwards. my family does have a history of varicose veins/vein problems and yesterday i noticed a tender spot on the back of my thigh (left side) , about the size of a penny. it doesn't hurt unless pressed or moves. i didn't look at it until today, and the tender spot looks like a purple little circle at the end of a larger vein. the veins in my legs are pretty visible but they don't really pop up or anything. i do have this strange, painless, green mark on the backside area of my knee though. im just freaking out bc i cant identify this. im only about 20 but i've been fairly inactive the past few years due to my anxiety. i also get this pulsing/pumping feeling through my legs, esp the left, when im laying down but im aware that can be a symptom of anxiety. does this look like a bad vein... or perhaps a bruise i don't remember getting? its easier to see from far away. sorry, im freaking out.

Surgery :: Tiredness After Local Anaesthetic Even After 48 Hours

I had a lesion removed from my back on Wednesday afternoon by local anaesthetic. All was fine..I felt nothing, only pressure but no pain. But my query is this..it's now Friday morning & I'm still absolutely exhausted. The anaesthetist did say she gave me a lot of anaesthetic as they had to go in deep I think. I'm not even in a lot of pain but I didn't expect to feel so terribly tired still.  Anyone any experience of this after a local?

Hysterectomy :: Fear Of Anaesthesia

I have never had an operation before,  I'm not bothered at all about having my womb cut out; I'm afraid of being anaesthetised. If it were possible, I wouldn't mind just  having the area anaesthetised and staying awake and watching the whole operation.

I have asthma, I am allergic to some local anaesthetics as well as other medicines,  and I have developed breathing difficulties when taking certain medicines, including sleeping pills. I'm afraid that I will stop breathing or have an allergic reaction. Also that I may wake up in the middle of the operation (I've sometimes stayed awake after taking strong prescription sleeping pills), that I might become brain damaged,,go into a coma, go into a locked-in state where I can sense everything around me but everybody thinks I'm unconscious, or worst of all, just never wake up.

I had a cat who went completely deaf after being anaesthetised for a routine dental exam, but he had a heart condition already, which may have caused this by preventing enough oxygen from getting to his ears when he was under the anaesthetic.

I know people who have had many operations and they were fine every time. Did anybody else have the same fear of anaesthesia before their operation? How did you get over it?

After Effects Of General Anaesthesia?

My partner will be going in for minor surgery in a few weeks and was offered the choice of local or general anaesthesia for the op - she opted for general. Slight predicament, we are trying to keep it quiet. My question is, is it difficult to hide the fact that you've just had a general anaesthetic?

Frozen Shoulder :: MUA (manipulation Under Anaesthesia)

I've just got home after Having MUA with NHS. I noticed I can raise my arm higher but been advised not to also to keep it rested.

I'm just worried that if i don't exercise my shoulder it will freeze up again. How long before i should start exercising my shoulder again and any good websites with descriptive diagrams on any exercises i should be doing at this stage as i wasn't shown any to do and if i were to book an appointment with my physiotherapist at my gp's centre i would have to wait anything up to a month.  I'd Like to be going to swimming weekly with my children again and getting my normal life back, washing my hair properly day to day housework and gardening too before winter sets in will i have to wait long to do this

Hallux Valgus (Bunions) :: Manipulation Under Anaesthesia After Operation

I had a bunion operation on my right foot in May 2015 as walking was as painful as sitting on a cactus. The operation went well considering that they put down "hip replacement" on my medical card by mistake 20 minutes before my bunion operation. The following months were quite painful, in fact I would say that you will feel less pain if you have a daily Brazilian wax or swim with some alligators. If you love high heels like me well you have more chances to marry Frank Sinatra than being able to wear heels for at least 8 months! Recovery is a long road and after following the instructions from the surgeon to rest, my big toe became frozen & looks like a fish finger , I don't try to wear open sandals around kids in case they feel like fish fingers. My surgeon has booked me for a manipulation under anaesthesia to make my toe more flexible ...  In other words he will pull my big toe until it's longer than Brooklyn bridge and snap it like sugar snaps.

just wondering if anyone had MUA after a bunion operation and what the results have been, was the recovery a long and painful experience like the bunion operation ? Can you wear normal shoes again and pain free ? All your precious advices are greatly appreciated. Thanks for reading, Laila

General Anaesthesia Risks For Marijuana / Cannabis Smoker?

Due to some urine flow problems that I have had for the past few years, my urologist has decided that I should have a rigid cystoscopy to explore/fix my bladder for the problem. It is most likely that I have a stricture in my urethra that is preventing the flow.

Because a rigid cystoscopy can be fairly painful, I will be under under general anaesthetic throughout the whole procedure. The main thing I am worried about is the anaesthesia. I smoke marijuana fairly regularly (2-3 shared-joints a day) and that is all I do. I don't take any other form of drugs. I only smoke tobacco in joints. I don't smoke cigarettes.

My only concern is that this might affect the general anaesthesia during the cystoscopy.

The procedure won't be happening till sometime around April so I will be able to cut down/stop smoking all together if needs be but I intend NOT to smoke at all up to 2 weeks before the cystoscopy.

How long can I smoke marijuana up until the procedure? What are the potential risks of smoking marijuana before operations?

Also, what can I expect from the rigid cystoscopy procedure? This is the first hospital procedure I have ever had, so understandably I am a little anxious about it all.
