Urinary Tract Or Yeast Infection?
For about a week now, I've experienced a slight itch and sometimes a strange smell with my urine. However, if I drink a lot of water, my urine is normal despite the slight itch that stays there after urination. Nothing is unbearable. I'm not super uncomfortable. I've been drinking a ton of water, so I'm not sure if my frequent urination is due to water consumption or a possible UTI. My gyno has told me that I do produce a more than normal amount of yeast, but I've never had a yeast infection. I've also never had a UTI.
I feel fine. No cramping. No pain. No nausea.
Is this a UTI or yeast infection? Could it be something else?

View 2 RepliesFrequent Urinary Tract Infection After Catheterization
I'm a 20 year old female, I had a nose operation and came out with a Catheter from the hospital as I was unable to pee after my op. I had been getting urine infection almost every second week with the Catheter. I finally got that out at the end of June and following a failed twc I was taught self catheterisation.
2 days later I ended up in hospital unable to perform it where they drained my bladder for me. I was then released 5 days later managing to catheterise myself.
After coming out of hospital I have been getting these sharp pains I my sides, initially just my left side but know my right side under my ribs and goes round to my back. I went to the doctors on Monday and showed I had a severe urine infection... I was given ciprofloxacin 500mg and tramadol 50mg 4 times a day... I also was told my kidneys were a bit inflamed.
I went back on Friday as I was feeling worse! They done a dip test which showed no infection but was sent to the lab anyway, I was taken of the tramadol and put on paracetamol and codeine if I needed it (which I do) I have now been constipated since Monday as well!
I'm still getting this horrible sharp pain in my sides and lower back as well as very nauseous ( not been sick though) and extremely tired all the time. I'm getting really sick of it all now and just don't know what to do nothing is taking the pain away, any suggestions would be great! I'm sick of constant visits to the doctor but don't seem to get anywhere with them.
Urinary Tract Infection :: Tested Negative - But Still Have Symptoms?
For the past few weeks I've been dealing with what I thought was a possible UTI. I haven't had pain, but feel the need to urinate after just going to the the restroom. However, I keep testing negative for nitrates, LEU and protein on a dipstick. I also tested negative in the doctor's office and was prescribed ABs that didn't seem to do much.
Is it possible to test negative so many times and still have an infection? Or could this be something else?
Kidney Stones In Urethra - Urinary Incontinence
A CT scan showed my husband had a kidney stone in his urethra. He is not sure if he passed it yet or not. One day he had huge, huge pain and I took him to the hospital and they gave him pain pills but since then (a week ago) he's had no pain, so he thinks he might have passed it. Only one problem - he has urinary incontinence which is driving him crazy. Any thoughts?
View 2 RepliesUrinary Incontinence :: 30 Kidney Stones Passed During Pregnancy
I'm 35yo F, have two kids (ages 3 and 6). During both pregnancies I had about 30 kidney stones I passed and I've passed several more outside of pregnancy. Most noticeable since having my second daughter, I've suffered from urinary incontinence. Not when I cough or laugh but it seems to leak out after I go to the bathroom. I don't feel it but throughout the day and night, my underwear are always damp and I can smell urine. I don't have bladder control issues - meaning, I always make it to the bathroom in time. It's very upsetting and been very stressful. I've seen 3 different doctors and it wasn't until my most recent visit where I got very frustrated that they seemed to finally listen and now said they are referring me to another specialist and I'll need to be tested for a fistula and other potential serious issues.
The specialist can't see me for a few more weeks. Does this sound familiar to anyone? Anyone have any input?
Complete Loss Of Hearing After Respiratory Tract Infection
I'm 36-year old male and about 3-weeks ago I went to my doctor with typical flu-like symptoms. He informed me I had a Respiratory Tract Infection and prescribed some antibiotics and pain killers which I took over the course of the following week. The problem did not clear-up and, after developing a chesty cough and severe pain in one ear, I returned to the doctor who then told me the infection had most likely spread to my chest and most certainly into my ears - particularly my left one. He prescribed stronger antibiotics and pain killers and a nasal steroid spray, all of which again I took religiously over the following week once again.
Although my cough and general flu symptoms have pretty much cleared up, for the past week or so I have been left with almost complete loss of hearing in my left ear. It feels as if there's still a wee bit of pressure both in and around the ear itself with a sort of numbness when i touch the skin on my face and head around the ear. This extends in to my hairline, over my left cheek and a short distance down my neck below my ear. There's also a small amount of ringing from within the ear and it sounds as if I'm hearing things "internally" all the time. Hard to explain but extremely frustrating and my concern is that the infection has somehow managed to damage my hearing permanently.
Kidney Disease :: Prep For Lithotripsy (Kidney Stones) - Magnesium Citrate
Is it me or is this stuff a waste of time?
I've had obout 20 lithotripsy's in 15 years of having continuous stones. They've never gotten my kidney completely empty of stones ever. I've had lithos, ureterscopy, PCNL. On meds but they can't seem to stop them from growing. I avoid alot of the things that cause stones or limit them. Got to have the 1 cup of coffee in the morning
On the day before litho, your suppose to eat light ( nothing that leaves residue in bowl) but they say you can have white bread or boiled chicken. (Why bother?) I usually only eat jello, gatorade, and just broth. Plus tons of water. The instructions say to drink the magnesium of citrate after dinner. Well to me dinner is after 6/7. But I thought this time I would take earlier since last time didn't start to move the bowels until i was in the hospital. Plus this stuff is awful- taste bad- even refrigeration like they suggest doesn't really help. Twice in past I threw it up.
So I took at 5 pm thinking it would work earlier. Nope. Nothing. Just stomach cramping and it finally started around 5 am after me getting up every hour during night. Still was working again while in hospital.
There has to be something better (tasting) and work faster. Plus less side effects. Or they should change instructions & say take a noon. Next litho (in 2-3 months) I'm taking a 1/2 day off day before and taking at noon. Maybe then can get a little sleep the night before procedure.
Sorry- felt like ranting as frustrated as its been two full days since litho and nothing passing yet. Plus I have a bad back (2 surgeries) which makes it hard to do the exercises where you drink 2 cups water, wait 30 minutes, then elevate kidney @ 45 degrees and stay like that for 30 minutes to try and get the pieces to move.
Kidney Stones :: Staghorn - Filled My Right Kidney
Thursday morning I spent the night in the ER with a kidney stone in the left kidney -- when they did a CT Scan - they came and told me that they made an "incidental finding" in the right kidney that is a problem -- they have discovered that I have a "Staghorn" kidney stone that has attached itself and almost completely filled the right kidney. He said that I will not pass it and now my GP has made me an appt. with a Nurse Practitioner at the urologist's office for Tuesday morning to discuss my options. What are my options going to be?
View 1 RepliesKidney Stones :: Calcium Deposits In My Kidney
A while ago I had kidney stones, I was sent for a scan after, upon returning to my GP for the results of my test, he told me there were calcium deposits in my kidney that could mean I have another on the way, I've been trying to keep well hydrated and doing all I can to prevent a recurrence, because they're damn right evil, I've got away with it for quite a while now, last night I was woke up with the same pain I had when I had kidney stones, I sat on the toilet and waited for the pain so subside, it seems to have gone again for now, I was just wondering if I'm supposed to avoid eating foods rich in calcium, I'm also lactose intolerant and with all this I'm starting to wonder if I'm going to en up deficient in calcium.

I have had kidney stones for about 20 years and have had a number of treatments. My right kidney now works at 21% due to scarring and infections. My left is fine, working at 98% with one stone. I do not suffer many symptoms but do get an infection 1-2 times a year (I am experiencing my normal infection pain at the moment). My consultant has discussed removing my right kidney, obviously I have my concerns - will my other kidney be strong enough as I am susceptible to stones etc.
View 1 RepliesPregnancy :: Possible Kidney Stones?
I'm a 29 year old female 36 weeks pregnant. Back in January I had a large amount of blood in my urine and some flank pain ( nothing like what most describe with stones) happened again two weeks later so my OB requested a urology work up. I had a full ultrasound which showed mild fluid in my right kidney which is normal in pregnancy. Then sent me off to a urologist for a cystoscopy and two cytologies to look for bladder tumors and Cancer cells. All which were negative. Fast forward to April and again some flank pain with blood in my urine. Urologist wants a CT scan but can't due to pregnancy. So it became a waiting game. May comes along and im having blood every few days with a little more Intense pain lower along my hip and into my pelvis. No back or 'flank' pain per say but now I am urinating large clots and tissue and blood. Went to the hospital they pumped me full of fluids did an ultrasound and saw absolutely nothing and said probably a kidney stone we'll look closer after you have the baby.... Does any of this sound like a kidney stone? They feel it would be a small one since it can't be seen on ultrasound and I am not in excruciating pain. But I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around a 'small' stone causing so much trouble, blood and clots and taking MONTHS to pass... Any thoughts?
