Nasal Polyps - Nasonex Spray, Melrose Oil And Lozenges?
I have nasal polyps and what a life-ruining condition. I can't breathe. I can't sleep. I have trouble eating & breathing, drinking & breathing. Sometimes it's difficult to speak clearly. Kissing & humming are difficult. I go through oodles of kleenex. I take antihistamines, use Nasonex spray, take Melrose oil internally, enjoy "Halls" lozenges. I've tried Prednisone, but the side effects are too dangerous for me. I wish I could get some relief. AND it is different every day. Some days my nose is totally plugged and thumping and the next day my nose is dripping, running and I can't stop blowing. It's never normal. Again, I wish I could get rest & relief.

View 1 RepliesUlcers :: Cabbage Juice Cure To Treat Gastritis
Some doctors cured their patients of ulcers in the mid 20th century with cabbage juice. Supposedly they got some relief after 4 days and most of them were cured after 7-10 days.
Here is how to proceed: one has to drink 200 ml of fresh cabbage juice 5 times a day, so every 3 hours. I am going to mix mine with one apple in the morning (if I can take the acidity of the apple), and other vegetables (carrots, spinach, celeri, fennel) the rest of the day to make it more tasty.

View 6 RepliesPolymyalgia Rheumatica :: Prednisone And Stomach Ulcers (Zollinger Ellison Syndrome)
I really need some advice. A few weeks ago I started getting severe pains in arms, shoulders and legs which came on almost overnight. I couldn't move my arms in bed or roll over and getting out in the mornings it was like I had aged 20 years. Well you all know the symptoms. Could hardly get off the loo or downstairs. All the usual symptoms. I saw my physio who I have been seeing on and off and he thought it could be Polymyalgia. My late mother had had it too. After a blood test at doctors he has put me on Prednisolone for a week to see if things improved. Reading the contra indication it seemed like it was a no no for me as I have a rare condition called Zollinger Ellison Syndrome that means I produce excess Gastrin and therefore stomach ulcers. I have already had 2 perforated stomach ulcers and hence have a small stomach due to surgery. I am on 40 mg of Omeprazole for life to safeguard another ulcerI also have osteoporosis although this hasn't caused a problem. Since starting the Prednisolone I have had severe heartburn so emailed my gastrointestinal surgeon and he said I have to choose between more stomach ulcers or a better quality of life i.e being pain free. What a choice is that. I am with a new partner who is 7 years younger than me and suddenly I have gone from a dynamic 63 year to an 89 year old.
Allergies :: Post Nasal Drip Connection With Stomach Acid
I researched the PND and stomach problems connection. I am trying to figure things out as I have an upset stomach for 1 month now, and I think it might be related to my PND condition.
I can not even remember the time I have PND, I just did not know how it is called. I always sucked mucus in my mouth from "somewhere", and did not know it is coming from the nose/sinuses. I am allergic to a lot of things, not just in the air but foods too. From the PND - at least I guess - I have tonsil stones and one enlarged tonsil at the right side. Left is quite ok.
I have not had any serious or long lasting stomach problem until now. For 1 months time I am feeling a gradually stronger pain under my left rib, which is actually also in the back. Not to talk about the bloating I feel. I was at my Doc, he said it is ok, just take a plill to lower acid. Although, I like to look after and research things, and read that too low stomach acid can cause indigestion, which causes bloating. I would not take that pill, I am looking for a deeper solution.
The question is - can PND cause low stomach acid? My theory is that this mucus which is landing in my stomach (when I can not spit it out) inhibits stomach to produce enough stomach acid, leaving food undigested and also vitamins unabsorbed. So the whole system is not functioning as it should and sooner or later (looks like later is now arrived) it will cause an ulcer or who knows what. (And also, in case of this, killing HP bacteria would not mean any solution as I read, but it is another question.)
I am trying the neti pot tomorrow, and hoping for a solution that it will lower the amount of mucus dripping down at the back, and so it should help my stomach.
What do you think? Am I on a very wrong way, or can there be something in what I am trying to say?

View 4 RepliesFood Causing Bad Breath - Coming From Stomach?
(I'm 30)My breath smells bad. I look after my teeth and eat well. Mainly veg, white meat and fish which I cook myself, very little dairy, very little sugar. I exercise a lot and generally have healthy lifestyle. I suspect the smell comes from stomach as when I brush my teeth in the morning, more-often it still smells after a few minutes, until I eat. I gave up smoking (2/day) 2 months ago and haven't been drinking alcohol since. I don't have any stomach problems/pains, no heartburn or any other discomfort. I'm thinking it could have something to do with high acidity in stomach but looking at food list I eat mostly alkaline foods so I'm lost. There was this one period in time when my breath was perfect even first thing in the morning, it was while and a little after taking an antibiotic after my correction surgery. I don't remember what was it but I wish I knew. I started drinking baking soda every 3hrs today(for 2 weeks)but maybe my stomach isn't even acidic. How can I home test it?
View 1 RepliesVitamin D And Zinc Deficiency Due To PPIs (causing Low Stomach Acid)
I have been on Protonix (proton pump inhibitor) for well over 25 yrs. Four years ago I developed constant diarrhea that was later diagnosed as gallbladder problems and had it removed per Dr's orders. The diarrhea continued afterwards though and the Dr said it was now IBS-D. It just seems like they are guessing as I go along here. I did some research and found that constant use of PPI's can cause LOW acid in the stomach and therefore increasing malabsorption of vitamins and minerals, also causing severe diarrhea. I believe this has been my problem all along considering I was just found to be deficient in Zinc & D. Diarrhea, hair falling out, uncontrolled blood sugars and now hypothyroidism are my symptoms. I have so many questions. Has anyone had this problem with PPI's? Has anyone tried to stop? I know it's very hard to do. I'm told having low acid in the gut, even though you supplement, doesn't work to increase your minerals/vitamins. Just looking for answers and feeling like crap.
View 1 RepliesDeviated Septum Operation? Nasal Obstruction (breathing Difficulties) And Nasal Drip
I have suffered with Nasal obstruction(breathing difficulties)and Nasal Drip(continuous mucus draining down the back of throat)for over 8years and have been prescribed all the usual sprays, anxiety pills, breathing strips, etc.
My latest consultant advises I need an operation to treat a deviated septum(restricted airway on one side of nose).
I was also told by one consultant that I had collapsed airways due to my age(70) and nothing could be done.
Has anyone had this operation, and if so, did you have relief from nasal drip and improved breathing through the airways.
My quality of life is poor, with low energy during the day and nighttime breathing problems that cause me to be awake most of the time.
I am looking to make contact with someone that has had surgery or experiencing the same symptoms as mine.

I have had my eyesight checked recently and its near perfect yet I cannot see properly.
View 2 RepliesNasal Polyp History :: Nasal Dryness And Pain In Left Eye
Two weeks ago, I woke up with pain in my left nostril. I thought it was a pimple and would go away, but the pain is shooting into my left eye and temple area off and on. Is this nasal dryness I am experiencing or could it be something more serious? It is strange that I suddenly felt it overnight. I have history of polyp in this area but wasn't big enough to cause a concern 2 years ago. I am trying to keep area moist with argan and almond sweet/vitamin e oil but hear that I shouldn't keep doing that, lipoid pneumonia may result in repeat use. Saline spray makes it worse. I will go in eventually to check it out, but this ENT Dr. I have usually blows me off. He is not the compassionate type and to see another specialist is an hour away.
View 3 RepliesOther Drugs :: Mouth Sores From Zicam Oral Mist Spray?
Has anyone ever gotten mouth sores from using Zicam oral mist? I used it for three days plus one morning, and that night I hate some really hot food, I thought I burned my mouth. But when I looked the next day they looked more like sores. I think maybe the hot food was just the final straw and that perhaps the zicam really caused the problem. I also changed my invisalign aligners that day, so a lot going on. So I'm just wondering if anyone else has had this side effect from Zicam. It's on my back, upper gums, right where I was spraying the oral mist.
View 5 RepliesOmeprazole :: Causing Rash - Lapromazole Causing Diarrhoea
I have a horrendous rash on my feet, upper arms, back and hands. I have been taking Omeprazole for about 6 weeks, and am due to see a consultant in a few days. As no one had mentioned a rash to me, I assumed it was a heat rash, as I have a habit of warming my feet by the fire, but the rash has got much worse, and now I have ENORMOUS blisters on my big toes and small ones elsewhere on my feet and hands. I have phoned the GP surgery as I see this is listed as a possible side effect, and was told to stop taking the omeprazole which I did yesterday. So far there is no improvement, but it is only 24 hours, so I am hoping there will be some improvement very soon. I have also lost my sense of taste and smell which may be due to a bad cold, but I have a very dry mouth and a horrid taste in it when I wake up in the morning. This is also a listed side effect. The doctor I spoke to seemed to think the rash IS due to the omeprazole. Incidentally, I took lapromazole for 2 weeks previously, but it gave me dreadful diarrhoea, so the consultant changed me to omeprazole. I will post another message on here when I have seen the consultant.

View 1 RepliesChronic Gastritis :: Constipation And Lump In Anus
I'm 21 and no stranger to digestive issues. I suffer from anxiety and depression which I think helps contribute to those problems.
I was just recently diagnosed with Chronic Gastritis after an upper scope was done. I was also diagnosed with IBS about a year ago which is my main issue.
So lets skip to my more recent problem-
My IBS fluctuates from Diarrhea to Constipation. Mostly constipation anymore...
I get constipated for weeks. Just recently though I've noticed it getting worse and me pressing harder and harder to get it out. I knew that wasn't a good idea when I started doing that, but it's easy to strain. I know this is gross, but I developed severe itching down there about 3 weeks ago and naturally started thinking it was a hemorrhoid (internal). The only thing that would make me go for a little while was preparation H suppositories. So I used those and ignored it. There's still pain up there when I sit down. I still don't know what it is. I felt up inside and felt a lump about the size of a golf ball (maybe smaller) about an 1.5" up. This really scares me and makes me extremely depressed going through all the things in my head it could be.
What do I do?
Rhinitis Or Hay Fever ?
The symptoms first started 9 years ago when I found out I was pregnant and were quite severe throughout my pregnancy (symptoms such as runny itchy eyes that feel dry at the same time, very fast flowing runny nose that drips, sneezing fits, loss of smell, headaches, lack of energy). the symptoms then began to fade away as the years went by but have came back with a vengeance over the past 12 months, it makes working hard and stops me from doing normal day to day things as I feel like going and locking myself away.
I will be visiting my Dr in the next week to tell him that it is not hayfever that it is infact rhinitis and I want something done about it.
Taking Lansoprazole As A Barrier Against Aspirin-induced Gastritis
After my CABG 2 years ago I was prescribed various drugs for long term use, including a daily aspirin tablet. As I have had gastritis and stomach ulcers in the past, the cardiologist put me on lansoprazole to protect the stomach lining, even though the aspirin is the enteric-coated kind.
I've had lansoprazole prescribed in the past, or the alternative omeprazole, when I've had an outbreak of ulcers and/or gastritis, but the dosage was only for a maximum of two weeks, as I recall, and the medication did wonders to cure the ulcers. Now, however, I've been taking lansoprazole for over 2 years and I'm beginning to notice some of the side effects mentioned in the patient leaflet.
Does anyone else take daily aspirin as protection against heart attacks and strokes and if so, how do they handle aspirin's tendency to cause stomach bleeds? Maybe I could stop the lansoprazole now?
Acid Reflux :: Gastritis And Heartburn/ H.pylori Infection?
So about two weeks ago I had Mexican food. 1 burrito (cheese, beans, rice, meat), 2 tacos (carne asada) with salsa (green/red sauce..spicy). The food wasn't really that good at all. Fast forward to 3AM later that night and I wake up to feel my heart pounding. Felt nausea, dizziness, had sweaty feet and hands. I try to take #2 but that didn't work so I rushed to the kitchen and squeezed a few lemons, mixed it with salt and that helped a little. It takes a long time for all this to go away. I hate the feeling of puking, so I always try not to.
So, just to tone down what usually happens to me...
After I eat and depending on what I eat, I ALWAYS get the urge to burp but I cannot! This worsens the situation and makes me feel helpless, and I start to feel the same way as I felt that night at 3AM. If I do burp, I feel relieved.
Heart rate increases and it feels TERRIBLE! I feel my stomach all mixed up, like if I went on a spinning ride from a caravel 10 times in a row. I get dizzy, sometimes lightheaded, and nausea. Feet and hands sweat and feel chill/cool. I start to salivate a lot too. I feel a burp coming out but it just "sinks" back down to my stomach. My stools are normal, no black/coffee bean kind. No blood.
had 3-4 serious occasions since October 13 to today.
-First one after the 3AM night was when I was having a heavy meal at Zankou chicken. It consisted of: Pita bread, hummus, garlic spread, salad, chicken kabab, ground meat, rice. I started to feel really lightheaded, dizzy, with nausea, so I rushed to the restroom and again, out of instinct tried to do #2 but that didn't help so I just washed my face, breathed in and out deeply and have no choice but to take it like a man. Luckily nothing happened. I just rushed home and laid down.
-Second time was in the morning (btw, it's worse in the morning). I had coffee and a P&J sandwich before going to class. During my test started to feel dizzy and that horrible feeling on my stomach and THAT need to burp!!! The stress over the exam didn't help either.
*Since this time, I decided to ask my father for help (he's a Doctor). He recommended I take prilosec for 14 days, take mylanta syrup at night. I also take TUMS when I start to feel it and wow do they help!
-Third time was a semi-serious given that my wife so happened to have TUMS in her purse. I had a Chinese chicken soup (the soup itself is pretty greasy just by the taste of it, lots of salt..). All I had was that and a boba milk tea. I ate really light and I still felt sick in the end. Again, that horrible feeling in the stomach, that need to burp, increased heart rate. Same thing as the above.Sorry if I type it out differently or forget to input the rest.
Fourth time was today. My wife was hungry and wanted to eat at P.F Changs. I already felt my body telling me "hell no, but if you must, get some tums!" We didn't have any on us, but I just ignored my intuition and went ahead. We had spring rolls (veggie egg rolls), almond/cashew chicken, and shrimp lo-mein. I literally had 10 bites before I drastically started to feel sick again. Same symptoms as the above but more like situation #1. Also, I felt pretty sleepy/tired. All of the sudden, I started to feel REALLY anxious like "Oh my gosh I'm dying" kind due to the high heart rate freaking me out, you could feel it! You could feel your heart racing, no? I thought I was going to faint. I went to the restroom twice and tried the same as situation #1. Didn't help, needed tums quick. As we left, we found a CVS/Walgreens and I bought tums. This time it didn't help me as much, but then again I only took two I usually have three. Oh, I also had Gas X prior. As we were on the freeway, it all of the sudden the frikken freeway shuts down for 5min due to CHP doing something, so I panicked. I was feeling all the symptoms as the above italicized. I swear, I was this close to get on the shoulder just to rest. As we got home, I started to feel hungry. Good riddance.
What the heck is going on with my digestive system?!
Any medical professionals or those who have experienced what I mentioned that can give me solid advice will be MUCH appreciated. I'm this close to doing a endoscopy but I want to know if this could eventually go away with some simple medication and perhaps eating lightly for a while.
I've never had any problems with food. I used to be able to take anything. I also don't eat unhealthy at all.
