No To Depo-provera Due To Weight Gain And Mood Swings
This contraceptive was the first and the worst that I tried. I put on weight, had terrible mood swings, headaches and a general feeling that something was not right. I was on it for about 9 months before I couldn't take it anymore. I would not recommend to anyone. Plus it hurts like hell for 3 days when you get the jab in you bum. Nothing positive to say about this.

Nuvaring :: Mood Swings, My Face Is Breaking Out - Miserable
I got the NuvaRing, it's been about two months. First month my it was normal. But now I'm having crazy mood swings, my face is breaking out, and it's a week before I'm supposed to take it out to have my period and I'm having heavy bleeding, very unusual, and horrible abdominal pains. I just took it out to let my body regulate itself again. It was making me miserable. I COULD take the pill....but I need to really discipline myself to take it everyday. I've let the internet scare me away from Paragard. But honestly I just need REAL opinions, suggestions, from real woman.

View 23 RepliesContraception :: Weight Gain After Removal Of Nuvaring
Has anyone on this forum gotten new info about this issue? I have been on nuvaring for 3 years. I removed it 6 weeks ago and have gained 16 pounds!!! I am 5'1 so this is a HUGE gain for me, and it is all in my stomach ( I look pregnant and always have an uncomfortable bloated tummy) I have been in a fitness program for 1 1/2 years,5 days a week. (I'm actually a fitness trainer now). I follow the paleo diet and train class 4-7 times per week. Yes I have the occasional cheats but nothing has changed in the past 1 1/2 years except removing nuvaring. I can't help but think this is the culprit.
View 1 RepliesNuvaring :: Weight Gain, Anxiety And Depression
I started taking nuvaring a month ago, around the same time I started exercising and eating healthy. I lost 12 pounds in the first two weeks, and now, a month later, I have gained 5 pounds back. I am still eating healthy and have started exercising twice a day for an hour each time, and I'm still gaining weight. Which leads me to my other issue, anxiety and depression. I have always had anxiety, but I only ever seem to get depressed while on birthcontrol (which this weight gain is really not helping). I am running out of options for birth control and I don't know what to do. I need a form of birth control that isn't going to make me gain weight and cry all the time.
View 3 RepliesNuvaring A Way To Get My Sex Drive Back Or Stop Weight Gain?
So I've been on the Nuvaring for 11 months now, this is my 12th starting. Unfortunately I have a lack in my sex drive, my boobs have gone from a C to a DD, I've gained about 10 lbs, I have been getting headaches, and I have a huge increase in my appetite. I know every woman has different reactions to different birth controls. Are the headaches normal? That's my biggest concern and is there anyway I can get my sex drive back or stop my appetite and weight gain? It's driving me crazy, my pants are too tight and I need all new bras, dresses and shirts! This is becoming an expensive prescription.
View 1 RepliesCerazette - PMS Like Symptoms And Mood Side Effects
I am unable to take pills with estrogen in them (due to a family history of blood clotting), and so have tried taking Cerazette to help with my PMS and period symptoms. My PMS symptoms are the worst between around Day 18/19 when progesterone is highest, so I was reluctant to take a pill that would introduce even more progesterone (especially an artificial kind), but as it is meant to suppress ovulation (which would ultimately reduce that progesterone peak) I decided to try it out.
Anyway, I started taking it around Day 20 of my cycle. At first things were REALLY good. Like it seemed to stop my PMS almost instantly and I was feeling great. A little bit more hungry, a bit of light nausea and headaches, but mostly feeling really good - a lot better than I normally would at that time of the month. On Sunday (day 27) my period was due, but didn't arrive, so I was really happy, but then randomly started feeling a little bit down in the evening in a PMS-like kind of way. On monday, I was mostly fine all day but then got a really irritable over one little thing in the evening. On tuesday, I felt yukky - very much like my usual PMS - I was cranky, tired, hungry and got upset over the silliest thing - And then started bleeding, and felt a lot better once the bleeding started. By thursday, I was still feeling a bit moody, hungry and insecure, and got a large pimple (and I never get pimples!) so I decided to stop taking it and didn't take my pill that evening.
On Friday, I actually felt worse! Couldn't concentrate much at all and was feeling really stressed out that I'd never find a solution to my PMS etc.
I think I want to keep going on Cerazette because I have had some good experiences on it (i.e when I first started taking it), but I'm terrified about the potential mood side effects and am worried it'll make me bitchy/anxious etc.
Undiagnosed Weight Gain, Acne, Hair Loss, Constipation And Bloating
I'm 19 years old and for about the past 4 years I have been on a roller coaster with my body. When I was 16 I RANDOMLY gained 30 pounds (weighing 135 at that point) in a matter of 6-8 weeks unexplainably. During this time, my hair started falling out, I broke out horribly, I became constipated, and of course depressed. This continued for about a year. I was loosely diagnosed with PCOS by an endocrinologist, but was told by my gyno. shortly after that she was 99.9% sure I did not have it (I did not have any cysts on my ovaries). I was put on birth control and spironolactone (a diuretic that helps with acne and hairloss) and within the span of about a year everything VERY SLOWLY mellowed out. I was told by many doctors that this was probably just puberty and that I was paying attention to what I was eating or that I was stressed, etc. Needless to say, I was working out like crazy and counting EVERY SINGLE MORSEL that touched my lips. The only thing I was stressed about was whatever the **** was going on with my body. I am not very high-strung and I rarely get stressed out. Every doctor acted as if I were making this up or overreacting.
By the end of my senior year, 2 years after all of this nonsense began, it was as if EVERY SINGLE SYMPTOM disappeared. Like night and day. I returned to my normal weight of 105, had NO breakouts, no hair loss, not the slightest bit of constipation or any depression, etc. It was the strangest thing and no one could figure it out. I could eat whatever I wanted and not exercise a bit and I stayed the same weight. No stomach pains or bloating at all. However, in my second semester of college I was thrown another curve ball...it started happening again!! I gained 24 lbs in 5 weeks with no explanation...breakouts began over night, as well as the constipation, etc. About 6 weeks ago I was put on Metformin, but have really had no luck with it. I've lost maybe 3 pounds since being on it...but I've been very active and had no appetite whatsoever, so I'm not sure if it's even helping. 3 lbs means nothing when you can gain it back as easily as I do. I recently have been experiencing slight memory loss and just foggy thoughts I feel like. I can eat 5 crackers, or a salad and feel as if I just ate 10 cheeseburgers and fries. It is crazyyyy. I can find no correlations between lactose, gluten, or any foods to any of this going on.
I have been checked for hypothyroidism, cushing's, vitamin D deficiency, insulin resistance, had ultrasounds done, and numerous other things. All of my levels are not fine, but PERFECT. So once again no one can help me. I have recently read about iodine deficiencies, bacterias/fungus in the stomach, ovarian tumors/cysts, liver dysfunction, and LEAKY GUT! For me, the leaky gut hit the nail on the head as far as ALL of my symptoms go. I'm going to go back to the GI and see if any of these things could be the source of my problem. I just don't understand it coming and going like night and day though. Definitely read up on leaky gut and these other illnesses i've mentioned...they sound a lot like the things y'all have been mentioning, as well.
PCOS :: Unable To Sleep, excessive Hair Growth, Weight Gain And Acne
I m 19. I m the type of person well I used to be the type of person who would wake up with the biggest smile at 2am... But recently since the past few months it feels like everything s changed. I find it so hard to go to sleep - I be tossing and turning in bed till 1-2am, and I find it hard to wake at 10am (I honestly have never been able to sleep later than 10am) but recently I ve actually had to force myself out of bed, coz I feel that tired. I feel really less motivated recently too, it feels like I'm going to get nowhere in life even though I'm working really hard with everything I want to succeed in; whether it's my education, whether it's losing weight etc.
I ve been feeling kinda down, sad and lonely lately too. It just feels like I've got no one - I m all alone. I m a very cheerful person and I never felt like this before. I do not have any siblings, I ve got loads of relatives/cousins but I barely get to meet them/talk to them. I feel lonely... Feels like I've got no one.
I suffer from PCOS which makes things worse - like all the excessive hair growth, weight gain, acne etc. It feels like I can't cope with it anymore. I just fake a smile. I cry within.
I just don't know what's wrong with me. I told my mum once and she just started laughing and say you ll be fine, but she doesn't know how I feel! Like I can t explain how it feels, I can t explain it to myself either. I feel lost. Completely lost.
Birth Control :: How Long Did Your Side Effects Last While On Nuvaring?
I started the Nuvaring July 11, which was the first day of my period. I did notice that my period was lighter than usual. I couldn't really tell when my period ended because I've had a mostly brown discharge that followed my period. (TMI I know sorry) It's now the 23rd and I was really wondering for how long does this brown discharge usually last? Other than the discharge I haven't had any other side effects. Did anyone else develop other side effects after having discharge?
View 1 RepliesContraception :: Mirena (IUD) And Mood Swings
I posted yesterday on depression forum but after doing some research think the problem may be with the Mirena Coil. I have had the coil for a number of years now. I can't remember if I had any problems with my first coil but since getting my second one fitted in 2012 I just don't feel right. My head is not clear and I seem to have a constant cycle of a couple of average/low mood weeks, followed by a week where I feel really low and anxious (I get the feeling this would be the week I would have menstruated) then the following week I feel on top of the world and can take on the world and round and round it goes. I have now got to the point where I feel I can't carry on on this neverending cycle anymore. Has anyone else had problems with moods with the Mirena Coil? My mood swings are terrible and often feel angry and irritable. I don't know if the problem is anxiety/depression or whether it is connected to the coil. As it is I am thinking of having it removed, to remove that possibility if nothing else. Anyone had the Mirena removed and then felt better?

View 1 RepliesDuloxetine :: Withdrawal - Mood Swings And Irritability
I would like to share with you my own experience with cymbalta. I have been taking this medication for a year(60 mg) my doctor prescribed it for depression and anxiety. After 6 months of taking cymbalta i was feeling better, my anxiety decreased and i was able to live a normal life. Now after a year i decided to wean off cymbalta. I decreased my dose to 30 mg for 3 month. And for the fourth month am taking 30 mg pill a day after another. It's been a week i started feeling nervous, my anxiety increased and and am having extreme mood swings and an irritability that quickly turns into rage. Adding to the previous am having nausea and nightmares. I know these are duloxetine withdrawal symptoms that my GP did not explain it for me when prescribing me cymbalta. I will be strong and am not giving up. I wish i didn't take it.

Worst thing is mood swings... I feel irritable all the time. At night when I can't sleep and dog snoring for example drives me crazy. Bloated too which feels awful. And digestive issues. Also feel quite anxious which is odd because I haven't felt like that before and loss of libido.

I have had an implanon for more than a year now. But probably 4 months ago I started getting acne. Although I realize that it is one of implanon side effects could it be possible that it is only happening now, after a whole year? And another thing is, whenever I take antibiotics like Tetralysal 300mg or purbac for my acne, my bleeding starts and it won't stop unless I stop with the antibiotic. Is this normal?
