Bipolar Disorder :: Lithium And Lamictal SO Sleepy

At first I was on 200 mg of Lamictal and (not sure the dose) of Seroquel. Seroquel made me gain weight. Worked like a charm though! Would also make me feel like I had a major hangover the next day. I said, no more, to that med. Had a really bad Mania episode during the weekend (few weekends ago) seen my doctor two days ago. He put me on 600mg of Lithium and 200mg of Lamictal. I don't have any side effects except I am so tired all day long. I take 100mg of Lamictal and 300 Lithium BUT here is the kicker. For some odd reason, mainly because I think my body hates me, if I take 200mg of Lamictal at night, to lighten up the load of my mornings, I can't sleep.... It makes no sense to me. SO I have to drink lots of water with Lithium, I can barely take a 5 hour energy because the Lithium makes my tummy hurt. I was told the side effects are short lasting. Also, I was told I will need blood work. Do you have to have blood work every so often or just that one time?? I still have Xanax for those moments when I have a really bad bout of anxiety.

Quitting Smoking :: Wellbutrin Helps

I am a 60 yr old woman and I have smoked for roughly 35 yrs. I have attempted to quit at least 3-4 times seriously. I've always had the horrible cravings even when using patches etc. this time I had my mind made up to do it finally and I just happened to be taking 300 mg of Wellbutrin at the time and I had actually forgotten that this could be helpful. I asked my dr to call in a prescription for the patches which he did. Anyway to say that it was easy is an understatement. You can imagine then my surprise to find out after using the 2nd box of patches that I had been using just the 7 mg patches all along. It Had to be the Wellbutrin that made the difference !! I was very surprised but extremely happy to become a Non-smoker !! It's been 10 months and I have no cravings. and I feel great ! I would gladly promote the Wellbutrin to any current smokers that really want to quit. I have put on a few pounds but that is well worth it to be able to live long enough to see my great grandchildren someday I hope and pray !!!

Migraine :: Botox, Metoprolol, Topamax, Wellbutrin Experience

I have suffered from migraines since I was 9.  These are the drugs I have tried:

 -Metoprolol which did nothing just lowered my already low blood pressure

 -Topamax, it worked amazingly until my hair started falling out

 -Amitriptyline which worked but all I wanted to do was sleep and eat

 -Nortriptyline which gave me a headache

-Wellbutrin, worked until I had a Steven-Johnson reaction and am still waiting 4 weeks later for my taste buds to grow back.

-Botox, total waste of my $280, except that I had couldn't move my forehead muscles, lol.

Then my doc wanted me to try depakote, which I drew the line at! All of these toxic medications and I was back at square 1.  My hubby did research and out of 300 reviews of BUTTERBUR (all natural), they were almost all positive.   It did say might take a month to work also.  I was having migraines daily. The first day I took it, no migraine. I was shocked and relieved.  I am now on day 8 and yesterday I had the teensiest migraine ever so I also took a feverfew, which according to Dr Oz and internet research, helps with migraines.  It went away.  I hope this is the solution. So tired of medications with horrible side effects.  Butterbur is also used as an antispasmodic/muscle relaxer and I have noticed since taking it i have had no back pain, and I sleep so sound at night (used to wake up 4-5 times a night).

Replacing Suboxone With Valium, Baclofen And Phenibut

I am on 600 mg Lyrica (yes max dose), 50 mg Amitriptyline, 200 mg tegretol, 5 mg valium, 10 mg baclofen, 1 g Chlorzoxazone, and phenibut when I want to take it. My pain is still not being helped much, even with all these meds. I was an addict and have been sober 8 years, but have been mixing my phenibut and valium to feel good 2-3 times a week. The dr is seeing this as addictive behavior and doesn't want me to relapse. So, he wants me to stop the valium, baclofen,and phenibut and replace it with Suboxone.

I am opiate naive and have never really gotten high on opiates before - I have no tolerance to them. He prescribed me 2 mg, 3 times per day. Now, I know this is wayyyy to high of a dose for an opiate naive person. What is a good starting dose for pain?

Anti Anxiety Drugs :: Valium Vs. Xanax For Sleep

I’ve been suffering from insomnia ever since I stopped taking Effexor and all natural ways to help me to get asleep didn’t really help much. I tried taking melatonin supplement, running and exercising and even herbal tea as a sleep remedy, but none of them really helped since I’m still managing to sleep only few hours before dawn.

Now i’m thinking to see my doctor to prescribe me some sleep aid and I was wondering what are your experiences with Valium and Xanax - which one works better as a sleep aid?

Benzodiazepines :: Coming Off 50mg Valium - Cold Turkey?

I'm currently a student and got valium off the internet to help me get to sleep. Because in halls as it's ridiculously loud, I ended up taking 50mg a night about 5 days a week..

Been doing this for the past 2 months and I've been reading stuff online about coming off it and it's frightened so much!

Should I just go cold turkey, how bad will it be and how long will it last? I really have the urge to go the doctors ASAP as I'm worried for my health but will this also go down on my health record and will it jeopardise being employed in the future if they ask to view my medical records? I can't believe I've gotten myself in this situation I feel so stupid and ashamed.

Epilepsy :: Are These Seizures Or Something Else?

For nearly a year now I have been having these symptoms, which are really starting to affect my life and college work.

Start off first with zoning out of conversations and just not being quite with it.

Then comes loss of consciousness and eyelid fluttering.

Then confusion, wandering round, verbal aggression (not screaming or anything, but apparently I can be quite rude)

Then I come round, just feeling tired.

Altogether (apart from tiredness) this can last anything up to an hour. I don't remember anything of these, and all the information has come from witnesses. I have had an EEG and MRI, which were clear. So why am I still having these?

Epilepsy :: Are These Seizures?

About 10 years ago I had something that resembled a stroke. I felt really strange that day and thought I needed to dilate my veins, i reasoned a run might help. After running about half a mile half the side of my body tensed or stiffened up; my head locked to one side, my arm curled in, my fingers curled in, the same side's leg stiffened and it was hard to walk. This lasted for something like 4 hours, and since then I've had trouble concentrating on things and the left side of my head/brain feels like numb/inflamed. I went to the ER and they gave me an MRI and said I had a brain cyst.

I always thought it was a stroke and I got some degree of damage, but a recent MRI doesn't show evidence of a stroke (but the pineal cyst is still there). So if it wasn't a stroke then what was it? Does this sound like an asymmetric tonic seizure?

I've had some other incidents that I thought were panic attacks where my vision goes dark, my hearing goes away and have to fight to not black out. Is my pineal cyst causing me seizures? I don't shake though.
