Corneal Ulcer :: Blurry Vision And Sensitivity To Light
Hi everyone, just after some advice.. My left eye started watering really bad last Wednesday, by the Friday the white of my eye was blood red, I arranged a visit to the GP who gave me chloramphenicol eye drops and if it got any worse to take myself to our local eye hospital. By the Sunday my eye was so painful, watering, bright red and light sensitive. I ended up visiting the eye hospital to be advised that I had an ulcer on my cornea. This us down to a viral infection, I was given antiviral eye ointment to put in 5 times a day for 10 days. The doc said due to my job I would probably need 2-3 days off.
I have been off 3 days now and although the pain and redness has calmed down, my eye is very sensitive to light and my sight is still blurry.
has anyone else suffered this please and how long did it take to recover and the eye to feel normal?
Epilepsy :: Vision Blurry
I was diagnosed with epilepsy about a year ago. I have for the past 3 year had strange eye sight. When i spoke with my neurologist she had never heard of it before. The only way that i can describe it is the vision you get after about 2-3 pints. I have been to the opticians and my eyes are perfectly fine. It is worse when i am outside and can make me feel dizzy and light weighted. Any advise would be appreciated. It makes me not want to go out.

So I just ended my period a week ago and had a little bit of bleeding when I wiped for the past few days then today my bleeding was really heavy and I've had cramps and horrible headaches for the past few days. I've also felt a little light headed and my cramps have been pretty bad but different than period cramps. What is wrong with me?
View 1 RepliesParacetamol With Alcohol - Light Headed And Anxious
Last week I was under the weather so started taking Paracetamol. The problem is that I was a) A bit loose with the guidelines (i.e. 4-6 hours, more like every 2-3) and b) I was taking Lemsip and Sudafed when obviously you are not supposed to take different types of paracetamol.
On Friday I went out for a few drinks (lager & vodka). Since Saturday I have been feeling incredibly anxious (not a normal character trait) and on Sunday had what I can only describe as my first ever panic attack. Since then I have been feeling anxious, sometimes light-headed and heart racing.
Sunday was the lowpoint and it was starting to improve and by Thursday I felt back to normal…so I went to the gym. 30 mins into what was not an overly strenuous routine, I was back to feeling light headed, anxious etc – just sometimes coming over me in waves.
Could this be linked to the over-use of paracetamol combined with the booze or have I maybe something more serious to worry about?

View 44 RepliesEyes :: Damage To Optic Nerve - Light Headed With Floaters
I was having frequent headaches and occasionally feeling lightheaded with floaters. I went to the opticians and they referred me to the ophthalmologist who put eye drops in and said that at the back of my left eye the optic nerve was sheeted. (I don't understand what this term means and cannot see anything on the internet to explain either) He just said that I didn't have any other symptoms for Optic Neuritis and wasn't sure but didn't think it was anything sinister. I am now waiting for a scan of the eye to see what that shows.
However, the last couple of weeks I have been getting pins and needles all over my body, mainly in arms and legs. I've also had general aching pains.
I have read online about symptoms and they point to all kinds of things, Fibromyalgia, Anxiety and possibly MS. As you can imagine this has really scared me as I have read that problems with the optic nerve can also be related.
Has anyone else had these symptoms or are they too few for me to be making assumptions?

View 10 RepliesCorneal Ulcer Due To Contact Lenses - Blurry Vision
I got a corneal ulcer around 1 month ago due to contact lenses. The bacteria was pseudomonas, they told me its very dangerous because it releases enzymes that melt the cornea. It all started one night when I felt like something was in my eye and it hurt like crazy. I didn't get any sleep and in the morning I went to the hospital. They started me on vigamox every 30mins. I saw them the next day and said it antibiotic wasn't effective, so I was on tobramycin and another one(forgot the name) for the first week I went to the hospital everyday. After that every 2days. They said there was a 5%melt of my cornea and I might have permanent blurred vision. It's been a month now, the ulcer is gone but as expended it left a scar. My vision is blurry but the doctor said considering the size and place of the scar(middle of my line of vision) my vision is pretty good. Has anyone experienced this before? I'm not on steroids, should I be? I'm just on artificial tears now. Will my vision get better? My next appointment is next week so I will ask them what my options are with my vision.

View 10 RepliesRespiratory Disorders :: Shortness Of Breath, Light Headed, Breath Stuck In Stomach
I am debating if I should go to the Emergency Room, as it's a Sunday. My story - 26 year old male, healthy. Since age 10, I have had an intermittent feeling of my breath being stuck in my upper abdomen (solar plexus area) and a little in my chest but not much. Sometimes when going for a deep breath, I feel pain in the chest, but very rare. It almost feels like there is a wall in between my stomach and my lungs that prevents air coming out. I know it's weird because you breath out of your lungs not your stomach. The only way it comes out is when I finally catch my breath, which means I need to wait for it to be able to escape and then I finally get the deep breath I need. Also yawning often allows the breath to occur. When this is happening, I can still breath but it's like only 10% of my lungs fill up with air, like someone is standing on the other 90% of my lungs, preventing them from filling up.
My BASELINE/ usual status is having the breath being stuck symptom maybe 10 times a day, usually while eating. This has become normal for me and I don't even think about it until people who I am eating with say, "what is wrong with you?"
When it is GOOD, it happens even less, maybe once a day and I will barely realize it happened.
When it is BAD, it happens often, maybe 20 times an hour.
The last week it has been EXTREME to the point where I will be struggling for a full breath once a minute. It is so bad that I have been feeling light headed (main reason for the alarm here). I have class on weekends and I was walking to the train for class, and my body was telling me to stay home (i am the type of person who doesn't make a big deal out of anything and never skips stuff).
Background- I sleep very well, usually 7-8 hours a night, am very healthy, 6 feet tall, 180 pounds, run 6 miles 3 times a week (it happens the same when I run but it doesn't prevent me from running), played sports my whole life, doctors always tell me my blood work and everything is off the charts good. The reasons I just listed, combined with my Mom (nurse) always telling me I am fine have made me stop seeking cures for this. I had every test under the sun done when I was 15 (EKG, Barium Swallow, Blood work, etc) and everything came back clear. I have a concave chest (my chest caves in) and the doctor told me that my chest bone is interfering with my breathing (eyes rolling). But now that I am feeling light headed, I think it's time to go to the emergency room. I am going to go to a heart center in my town (Brooklyn, NY). Also, I LOVE doing research about stuff and have been reading about this a lot and tons of people have similar symptoms which has comforted me. But now it's time for me to get tested again I think. Maybe this just talked me into going to the ER.
Sjogren's Syndrome? Pain On First Bite - Neuropathy, Blurry Vision, Muscle Pain
I came across this syndrome when searching the Internet about extreme pain I have when I take the first bite EVERY time I eat and sometimes drink. That this could be a symptom of this syndrome but I don't know. I do have some of the other symptoms, i.e. neuropathy, blurry vision, muscle pain, fatigue but these can also be associated with Type 1 Diabetes which I have. Also, came across parotid/salivary glands are affected which also can cause the jaw to ear pain I'm having. Has anyone heard that the Coxsackie virus can have anything to do with it? How do you know for sure if it is Sjogren's and what type of doctor do you see about it - a primary?

View 14 RepliesPregnancy :: (20 Weeks) Temporary Loss Of Vision / Hearing Flashes Of Light
I am pregnant with my second child and 20 weeks into the pregnancy. I have had some really bad headaches this entire pregnancy so far but the dr told me that's typical as I had some severe headaches before pregnancy. Now the headaches have gotten worse, about a week ago I started suffering from blind spots in my right eye and every time I would close my eyes I would see this bright ring flash in both eyes. After about two days of this I went to my eye dr who said my actual eye is fine but it may be a neuro issue. Well it has continued but I don't have insurance nor a lot of money so I have been to another dr yet and last night and today I am also suffering from temporary hearing loss when my headaches get bad and my vision starts leaving me (now in both eyes) . I am scared out of my mind and just trying to figure out some type of explanation as to what might be going on.
View 3 RepliesPituitary :: Adrenal Crisis - Brain Fog, Light Sensitivity, Blurred Vision, Weakness
Hi, I’m hoping some people can hopefully give me some advice please regarding treatment. My history: I’m 30, diagnosed with secondary adrenal insufficiency via an insulin tolerance test. I have borderline low hypothyroidism, low prolactin. No cysts. I am 40kg, 5ft tall so I am very petite.
I currently take hydrocortisone after each meal 8am-4 mg, 12m-4mg, 3.30pm-4mg, 8pm- 3 mg. I have to take my medication following food to reduce the intensity of the spike. I also cannot tolerate more than 5mg at one time without getting awful side effects of anxiety and panic when the tablet peaks in my blood at 30 minutes. Each doe I take only lasts around 2.5-3 hours. If I am to take 10mg at once I feel ‘high’ and ‘rushy’ and anxious when it kicks in then after 3 hours its starts to drop and I feel low cortisol again.
I feel like I am swinging all day every day. I am still so fatigued, have very bad dizziness and brain fog, light sensitivity, blurred vision, weakness, leg and arm cramps, reactive hypoglycemia and achy.
4 weeks ago I ended up having an adrenal crises, yes it was horrendous and scary but I got through it and in a way it was a blessing because it has been a BIG wake up call that I need to stop being scared of trying new medication in fear of getting sicker and realised I have got to try and get myself well.
I have been so unwell since I was 21 I am now 30. ….i have lost so much of my life and I am sacred I am never going to get better or managed.
My consultant prescribes medrol a while ago and I have been too scared to start to but after my crises I started it. I am now taking 1mg Medrol in the morning and then 3 more doses of hydrocortisone at 4mg, 4mg and 2.5mg…
When I first started the Medrol I could feel it working but now its like I can not feel it and by 4 hours later I am feeling hypoglycaemic, weak nauseas etc… I am feeling so unwell after I eat a meal, like all my bodies energy is wiped out from digesting my food and im now lying in bed weak, giddy and lots of pain cramps in my arms and legs…
I have low blood pressure and my consultants suggested
fludrocortisone. I just don’t know what to do anymore. My consultants saying I shouldn’t feel so unwell and im just so lost.
Has anyone been on Medrol and can give advice on this. Im very petite, 5ft and 40 kg…I just feel so up and down and struggling with it all and also feel my symptoms get worse or better during certain times of the month..
i also cannot tolerate many carbohydrates because my blood glucose pikes very high at 1 1/2 hours post eating and drops every low by 21/2-3 hours.
I’ve now had to set up a backup carer to help when am unwell because i am on my own with 2 young children. I am getting help with them now and also trying to get support for taking them to school…im slowly getting there
I have also done a month of blood tests looking at progesterone and estrogen and have found a pattern in some of my symptoms.. I most definitely feel my worst when I am coming off my period, stopping bleeding where I start to feel cold and foggy and nauseous I then when ovulating feel at my worst and the 2 days when my estrogen was highest I had severe anxiety, tremor, agoraphobia, intense drowsiness after eating and these symptoms always disappear once I ovulate and start seeing progesterone mucous . Apart from these symptoms which come on with my cycle I suffer with all my other symptoms throughout the whole month with increase and decrease throughout my cycle.
I have included a lot of tests below and anyone who feels they can help would be so much appreciated. Thank you for your time
