View 1 RepliesAnxiety And Sepsis - Symptoms Are EXACTLY The Same
So I screwed up again and googled something. This time it was Sepsis. The symptoms are EXACTLY the same as anxiety, minus me getting fevers or chills. Why must anxiety share symptoms with life threatening diseases? But anyway yes it's a terrible blood infection that causes organs to fail! I've been getting weird pains in my sides and stuff accompanied by still annoying shortness of breath. Not to mention these sharp, pricking sensations in parts of my body. I'm an absolute wreck.... CJD, Cancer.....SEPSIS? I need to stop googling, but when I'm reassured, something else bad comes out of the blue.
View 4 RepliesHallucinations In ICU After Sepsis And Pneumonia
A couple of years ago, I went into hospital for a routine operation on my tongue. After the procedure my tongue was very swollen, so they decided to put me back to sleep until the swelling went down. Unfortunately I then contracted sepsis and pneumonia, was on life support for a week or so. It took me a long time to recover physically and mentally from this experience. I had the most horrendous hallucinations whilst in ICU. I felt like I had been buried alive, embalmed, some of the nurses were from hell and some were from heaven and they were both trying to take me. Even though this was a long time ago now, I still remember it like it was yesterday. Has anyone else had similar experiences?
View 4 RepliesPain After Septic Shock (sepsis)
I am 48 years old, female. Recently, I suffered from septic shock, was hospitalised for 8 days, 3 days in ICU. I experienced significant muscle wastage whilst in ICU and began walking around as soon as I was able to, increasing distances a little each day. Since discharge from hospital 2 weeks ago, my activity level has increased but I am experiencing severe muscle pain and weakness. The muscles in my thighs, upper arms and foot arches are the worst. Any activity seems to make it worse, it feels like my muscles are on fire. Is this normal? I was fit and very active prior to this illness.

Hi I just had a friend pass away from what they believe was Sepsis. But they aren't sure just yet. His organs and fluids came back great. There doing blood tests and we won't know exactly what it was until mid March. I was just wondering if his family and friends should be concerned about getting it?
View 1 RepliesHernia :: Sepsis 2 Times In 3 Months, 1 Year Post Op
Is there any research or sites about mesh infections/rejection? I had a ventral repair April 16, 2015 with parietex mesh after a strangulated hernia and had to have a revision 1/11/2016 after the fat and tissue strangulated again. I have not felt well since the first surgery and was basically told I was crazy feeling like I was having recurrent hernias. Post op time 1 I dehisced and ended up with 2 I&Ds and septic. Still have not felt well. 8 weeks after completing antibiotics I got sick again (I have had abdominal pain still, every day- worse after eating). I am inpatient now after a second incidence of sepsis. Lactic acid 3.9, WBC 13100, oxygen sats in 80's and hr 130's on admission. I have no health issues before this and am tired of being sick. The medical team has spent all their time trying to find a new source (day 6 today). All because the CT is negative. I need some help, directions, feedback... Has anyone ever had mesh or intestinal issues like this without a positive CT? I have not had normal GI function in a year...
View 2 RepliesHepatitis C: Post Treatment :: Sofosbuvir+Daclatasvir Treatment Relapse
I'm looking for advice. My 60 year old father (who has had HCV for more than 10 years; previously treated with Interferon but bad side effects) finished his 12 week Sofosbuvir+Daclatasvir (considered same as Harvoni) treatment a month ago. Already first tests after 2 weeks showed virus was Undetected, but yesterday he received his most recent results and he has a relapse of the virus. He is genotype 1, fibroscan result 4 (close to final stage). He is based in Poland and I'm not sure if our doctors are fully informed of the new generation medications and HCV itself.
Is anyone able to give us any advice? We are pretty desperate and my dad is just so depressed as he thought he finally got rid of the virus (he got infected while on an operation in a public hospital) and now it is back...
Are there any specialists that you are aware of I could possibly get in contact with?
Molluscum Contagiosum Treatment :: Acid Treatment - Cryotherapy
A few weeks ago my bf noticed some bumps in his pubic area. He went to the dermatologist and was diagnosed with molluscum contagiosum, which is thankfully not that big of a deal! He got his treated with cryotherapy. Around this time I noticed a few bumps and because of the area they were in, went to an OBGYN for treatment so my bf and I don't keep spreading it to each other. The OB GYN agreed that they were also MC bumps and lightly scraped each one, then applied an acid treatment. That was a few days ago and while the bumps are mostly gone, the skin surrounding each one is dark and almost looks like a scab in color. Is this normal post acid treatment?

View 3 RepliesIs Prostatitis An Indication Of An HIV Infection?
Unprotected sex with a female that I know well (but do you really know people? she says i have nothing to worry about) , happened approx 7 weeks ago. Approximately 3 weeks post, was diagnosed with Prostatitis. I'm a 46 y/o male and have crohn's. The provider stated usually caused by bacteria, or often times is an unknown cause. All my blood work CBC, CMP etc came back within normal ranges. We did a gonorrhea and Chlamydia test via urine specimen and it was negative as well. Antibiotic, seemed to clear it up, though still seem to have mild flare now and then.
I googled the condition just to look for some additional information. I see that it is one of the most common urologic conditions for men and seems to hit the 40-50 year range most. I was concerned when I saw that HIV was listed. To this I am freaked out and have become very stressed. The provider wasn't even going to do the G&C tests until I asked if we should - and she didn't seem too concerned.
Question:
1) Is Prostatitis an indication of an HIV infection? An ARS symptom? Do I have a need to worry? (understanding a test is the way to rule out, which I will have done)
2) Can my test at this point in time be considered conclusive once completed?

View 1 RepliesCT Scan Showed I Had Mild Prostatitis
In short, I (27) was diagnosed with bladder neck stenosis and underwent BNI surgery 4 months ago. I was unable to pee at all. My urinary symptoms are much improved and although my flow rate is still on the low side (15ml/sec), I can fully empty my bladder.
I was in the hospital for a week before doctors diagnosed the reason for my urinary retention. A CT scan showed I had mild prostatitis.
Now I feel I have recovered somewhat but about 2.5 weeks ago, pain associated with prostatitis returned. I went to a Urologist who told me to get a few tests done: CBC, Urine DR, bladder PVR and uroflowmetry. He also prescribed 10 days of antibiotics. The tests seem to be normal with the exception of 4-6 pus cells in my urine. I have not returned to the doctor since.
The pain went away in about a week but has returned. No fever, just a mild constant pain in by upper buttocks area which gets better in the morning. I also have occasional burning pain between my scrotum and anus. My penis feels sore as if I just ejaculated. Occasionally there is sharp pain in the shaft of my penis. I am also experiencing frequent nocturnal emissions. My libido is almost non-existent but when I try I am able to achieve a decent erection.
I have had these symptoms on and off for a few years but although annoying, I did nothing. My GP just tells me to take painkillers. I have read about the kinds of prostatitis and nobody has been able to tell me what exactly is wrong. I have taken 4 rounds of antibiotics (7-10 days) in the last 4 months. It may be of bacterial origin; I was diagnosed with epididymitis 6 months ago with prostatitis symptoms and it cleared up with Cipro.
Prostatitis :: Excessive Sexual Activity Is The Cause
Have had flare ups occasionally for 30 years. Like most people multiple antibiotics never were helpful. A turp at 37 was a mistake. Prostatitis is caused by trauma; injury, cycling, excessive sexual activity, sitting, etc. some or all. For most people particularly younger guys, excessive sexual activity is the cause. This is like a sports injury to the gland, the nerves or the muscles in the area, just plain over use. Limit sexual activity, once a week or less if you can handle it. Eventually the symptoms, burning, frequency, pain, etc. will dissipate on their own after a couple of months things will improve a great deal. If you have irritated it once, remember you can do it again and the symptoms will return. Forget the ED meds till everything calms down and then moderation is likely best.
