Gastroscopy With Sedation - Mixed Experiences
Over the last 12 months I've had nine or ten endoscopies. The first few were emergencies and I was not very aware of what was happening due to being fully knocked out.
Having survived the initial trauma, I now attend every 1 to 2 months for regular endoscopy checks. I had decided to try without sedation (just the spray) but the consultant virtually insisted that I have sedation. I was a bit annoyed at first at not being given much choice in the matter. They now use the spray and 3 mg of Midazolam each time. In ten seconds, I'm completely out of it and only wake up in recovery. No significant after effects and I'm usually off home in about an hour. Sometimes it goes really easily for the consultant and other times he experiences difficulties with me. Fortunately, the only time I know anything about these difficulties is after the procedure in recovery room.

Is anyone controlling their bs with JUST metformin? I was recently told I needed to take invokana mixed with metformin and insulin. I had not been taking my metformin like I should so my readings were a bit high. But now that I'm regularly taking my meds, I'd like to know who is also and what keeps them within range. Avg bs 170s. I got my results back from the needle biopsy and primary Doctor didn't know what it meant and said I had to go to a Endocrinology specialist so I wanted to see if anyone knows what it means the results were:

-Thin Prep and cell block are hypocellular and consists of occasional tiny groups of follicular cells, colloid and mixed inflammatory cells.

I'm only 40 so hadn't really thought menopause was on the way but I'm getting lots of nausea especially around time of my period - thought I was pregnant but not - I read a few things about nausea and perimenopause just wondered if anyone had this experience?

Head Injuries :: A Bruise On Forehead Which Won't Go Away
My husband hit his head a couple of months ago just on the left hand side of his forehead. He has a bruise which don't seem to go away and I feel is getting bigger. Should he see a doctor.

I ruptured my achilles tendon 5 weeks ago. I was advised not to have it operated on. I have been in plaster since I did it. The cast has been put on so my foot is pointing down. I'm just keeping my fingers crossed that it's going to heal ok. I have read all the stories about re-ruptures so i'm abit worried I should have gone for the op now?

I recently hurt my foot which turned out i have torn my Achilles. I have been suffering with the same problem for a while and its painful when i walk and it is very hard and painful for my climbing up & down stairs & walking longer distance.
Last week as i stretched to get something from a shelf i felt and hear a pop at the back of my ankle and have been in severe pain ever since. I have felt it "pop" or "snap" a few times over the years but i have never heard it and this time the pain is worse than ever.
I visited my local A&E who confirmed it was a torn Achilles. They strapped my foot/leg up with a bandage and gave me crutches and told me not to put any weight on it. I was given an emergency appointment for the next morning to visit the trauma clinic. After waiting nearly 3 hours after my appointment time i finally saw a doctor who cut the bandage off and done a few tests on my calf and ankle, i was pulling my foot away as it was extremely painful. He confirmed my Achilles had not completely ruptured but it was torn, Then went on to say it was a sprain?? that i had to keep using the crutches and not put any weight on my foot for a few weeks and to rest it. This is very difficult as i work on the first floor & we don't have a lift.
I do not understand how in the same sentence he told me my Achilles was torn but it is just a sprain.
I am now struggling and in pain constantly i was not given any pain killers, Nothing.
Should i be trying to go back or do something else as it does not seem to be getting any better and it has me completely worn out.
HIV :: Lots Of Low Risk Exposures, Can I Be Positive?
I have had several encounters with people of known (now, not at the time) HIV positive status which has included deep kissing and minimal unprotected oral sex (both the giver and the receiver). I am only the top when I have anal sex and have never had unprotected anal sex (I always use a condom). I have never taken body fluids and may only possibly have taken a minimal amount if providing oral sex. This has all been within the past 2 1/2 years. I have had lots of changes to my body since then - more headaches than usual, random thinning around my nose, jawline, and forehead, hard and more pronounced salivary glands. Really, I haven't felt my 100% self. Sure, maybe this could just be "in my head", but realistically, what is the chance of exposure and a test showing up positive?

On Friday I fractured 2 maybe 3 ribs in a skiing accident. I had a chest X-ray and an ultrasound. I also had a brain scan due to being knocked unconscious. Nothing came up on any of the scans other than the rib fractures. Today I've started bleeding lightly from below, like the end of a period. I haven't had a period for over a year due to being on the injection and I never get any bleeding at all. I've had a bit of stomach pain and feeling sick but that's it. Should I be concerned? Could it be related?

I actually began running about 2 months ago, starting with a run 2 minutes, walk 4 and trying to gradually build from there (I m a college student, and had been walking quite a lot, around 4 miles, to and from class each day prior to beginning running). Problem is, my shins have been giving me a LOT of problems. I'm not sure what to do and am becoming quite frustrated...I've tried new shoes (currently in nike prestos, I love the shoes, they are the most comfortable things I have ever worn in my life!), gradually building up my runs, stretching, taking rest periods when they start to hurt...and as a result have not been able to increase mileage at all!
Should I run through the pain? I am guessing these are just shin splints...is it okay to run through these, do they go away? Is there anything else I can do? If anyone has any advice at all, I would really appreciate it. It is driving me nuts not to be able to run! I am trying to "rest"...so for the past month and a half have only been running about 2 days a week, with each run only about 15 minutes long.

I am 14 years old and I have noticed since I was around 12 I have like this fishy type smell odor that comes from my vaginia . It is really embarrassing because I can just be sitting in class and I will start to smell it and I don't know if anybody else can smell it. All through the winter i wore heeled boots, only a small heel then about a month ago i started wearing flat "dolly" shoes again, after about a week of wearing flat shoes i woke uP and couldn't walk properly due to pain in my calfs so i went back to wearing boots and just occasionally wearing dolly shoes. Sunday i went for a walk with my friend but i wore flat sandals ended up walking about 3 miles. Monday morning i got out of bed and nearly fell due to pain in my heel which i couldn't feel until i put my weight on it, i found it painful to walk on the rest of the day and today (tuesday) its became worse and the pain has travelled up my calf, similar feeling to what i felt a month before, which is becoming worse as the day goes on.
