Camry :: White Steam / Vapor Coming Out Of AC Vents

I recently went on a road trip and at one point white steam started coming out of my AC vents. i pulled over on the side of the road to take a look under the hood and everything was fine. no burnt smell or anything. i was driving through some high temps (around 100) and it was a bit humid. i figured it might have been because of humidity, but I've never seen that before. now a few days later I'm back in arizona and this morning i saw the steam coming out again, but very faintly. Its also very humid right now. The AC works fine, blows cold air like it should.

Ford - E350 :: 1990 - Emitting White Smoke Or Vapor From Exhaust Pipe

My 1990 Ford Econoline Conversion van (75,000 miles) recently started emitting white smoke or vapor from the exhaust pipe. I've been told it is steam caused by one of two things - either coolant or automatic transmission fluid leaking into the engine and being burned off. I've checked the oil and no sign that coolant has contaminated the oil (no chocolate shake-like substance). My coolant was a little low, so I topped it off. One possibility is this could be a head gasket issue. I have two questions. First, could it be something other than the head gasket? And second, is it safe to run the engine or drive the van while it is emitting the white smoke?

Accord :: Windshield And Side Window Defroster Vents Have Not Been Working

My windshield and side window defroster vents have not been working but every other air feature on the air system works fine. When I switch to the defroster, air just continues to come out of the front vents and not out of the defroster vent located on the top of the dash. I plan on going to dealership to have it checked out. I have looked through my hayne's book with no luck. One of my buddies said it could be a relay or something but I have not been able to find a relay specific to the defroster. Just wanted to get this sorted out because it takes longer than usual to defog/defrost my windows now without this feature working correctly.

I have a 2003 Honda Accord EX V-6 Coupe with dual climate control.

Camry :: 2011 XLE - Musty Smell From Vents When Turning On Defroster

I got my first Toyota couple months ago, Camry xle i4 38k. Everything is fine except for the not-so-smooth tranny, but I get used to it. The thing annoys me is the moldy smell from the vents. I usually turn on fan (A/C off, inner circulation on), when notice the smell, I changed the cabin air filter (the old one has tons of dirt!!). the smell goes away, but whenever I put on defroster, it comes back.

Golf/GTI VII :: Dull Rattle Sound Coming From The Defroster Vents

New GTI owner here! Just picked up my '16 carbon steel gray Autobahn with PP, DSG, DCC, Xenon. Really enjoying it. Coming from an 07 E92 335i, I'm still getting used to the very different feel of this vehicle, but it's mostly a pleasant experience. However, one issue: there's a sound coming from the defroster vents, a kind of dull "rattle sound" that isn't anything terrible but I wish it wasn't there. It isn't a leaf hitting a fan blade as it goes away if I turn off the defrost vents. It just sounds like air hitting a rough edge on something causing a turbulence noise. I guess it could be something fluttering in that area, but I can't see anything when looking at the vent from outside the car and it's very constant.

Ford Excursion :: 2000 - A/C Blows Out Of Defroster Vents Intermittently?

Today im driving along in my 2000 X v-10 limited and had the AC blowing on high. All of a sudden it started to blow out the defroster vents, then back to the correct dash vents, then back and forth intermittently.....No vacuum leaks that I could find.. Is that controls what vent doors open to control air flow?

Prius C :: Which Uses More Battery Power - AC / Heater Or Defroster?

Where I live we don't need or use AC very much but in the winter my wife likes to set the interior temp up to 72 degrees and we often need the defroster, especially on the windshield. I've wondered which uses more electric power from the battery to operate, AC or the heater/defroster? Also, does the AC come on automatically with the defroster, thus giving a double whammy to power use

Jeep - Cherokee :: 1996 - AC System Only Blowing Cold Air Out Of Defroster Vents

My 1996 Jeep Cherokee A/C system pushes cold air but out of the defroster vents not the A/C vents. Why this is happening? I suspect it is the slide switches for the A/C system but I am not sure and do not want to take the dash apart before I have some confirmation. I have checked the vacuum hoses with the heater/A/C system and they seem fine.

Suzuki - Forenza :: 2006 - Noise From AC / Heater Fan At Lowest Speed

I recently hear some light noise from AC/heater fan at lowest setting (1) - its like the faint motor noise you might hear in spinning motors (sort of like ticking but not quite). I don't recall hearing it before. At higher speeds like 2+ you hear air blowing out which overpowers any faint noise you might hear. Noticed this while using for heat setting. Haven't tried for AC as its winter now.

So I was wondering if this faint noise is anything to be alert/concerned about in terms of operation of my AC/heat fan. Would hate for it to die on me one day when I need heat/AC.

Car model is Suzuki Forenza 2006, not that it matters I assume.

Mercedes - Benz :: Blower Fan For AC / Heater And Defroster Won't Go On When Cold Or Wet Outside

I have a 1990 Mercedes 190E with kind of low miles for its age. Nice car, runs well. The problem is that the blower for the AC, heater, and defroster won't go on when it's cold or wet outside. Sometimes while I'm driving it will suddenly turn on. Sometimes if I restart the car it will go on; sometimes stays on, sometimes goes off after a bit. When it's dry and/or warm outside - no problem; on whenever I want, stays on, no problems. I have checked and replaced the fuses and I have had it at three different repair shops and they all insisted that it was the center console control that was causing the problem and now I have that whole unit replaced and it has not fixed the problem no matter what I tell the mechanic. I get it that it's an intermittent problem making it harder to identify ...

My 1999 F 250 5.4 liter. I know I have a vacuum leak because whenever I accelerate the air conditioning coming from the vents switches to the defroster. So my question is how do I go about finding the leak? My hubs in the front are manual so I know I don't have lines going up there. I do have some mechanical capabilities I've changed water pumps alternators brakes etc. But never anything with vacuum lines or a/c.

Elantra MD (2010-15) :: White Fog Coming Out Of Vents?

I was driving into work this morning. I initially had my windows down, vent on, blower on 1, fresh air. It started getting warm as I sat in traffic, so I hit the A/C button, then hit the recycled air button. White fog started coming out of the vents for about a minute. After that, it went away. I didn't smell any freon, but it's got me concerned. Do you think there could be an A/C issue? I just got the car last Saturday?

Santa FE SM (2001-06) :: Air Conditioner Intermittent / White Mist Will Come Out Of Vents

I'm having intermittent problems with the air conditioner on my 2004 Hyundai Santa Fe. If it matters, it's a 2wd, 3.5 liter model with about 66,000 miles. Below I will post a description of what's happening, as well as some other things that I've noticed and things that I've tried (these may or may not be relevant to the problem though). OK, here's what's happening:

I first noticed the problem back in late July and since then it has been happening more frequently. So far the problem only occurs after I've been driving on the interstate, although I'm not sure if it's a matter of my speed, or just a matter of how long the a/c has been running. Typically I only drive 15 minutes at a time unless I'm on the interstate where I would typically drive for a few hours or so. What's happening is that after a while (the time varies from 20 minutes to an hour or so) the flow of the air conditioning coming through the vents slows down to just a trickle. The a/c is still really cold, but it just barely comes out of the vents, no matter what speed I set it on. Here are some things that I've noticed (and a few things that I've done to try to repair it):

1.) I read that it might be the cabin air filter, even though normally Santa Fe's aren't equipped with them. I took the glove box out, and found the spot where the air filter normally goes and there was one installed (we bought the car used). I took it out and it was disgustingly dirty - a bunch of dirt, some leaves, sticks, etc... I just took out the filter completely and didn't replace it.
2.) While I was looking at that air filter, I also noticed that the box right to the left of that filter was wet with condensation. This was right after a two hour drive with the A/C on maximum cold all the way home though, so I don't know if that is normal or not. It wasn't dripping on the floor, but there was noticeable condensation on that box (I don't know what that "box" is).
3.) The problem will sometimes go away if I turn the air conditioning completely off for about 5-10 minutes. It seems that the longer I leave the a/c off the better chance I have of it working when I turn it back on.
4.) When I change the fan speed on the air conditioning I can hear the blower motor running at different levels. It almost sounds as if there's something in the dash that is clogging up the pipes. I can hear a whistling sound when the blower is on the lowest speed - when it's up any higher than that I can't hear it, but that's probably just because of the noise coming from the blower itself.
5.) I had the problem today, and I stopped at a gas station to get a drink. When I got back into the car I heard the sound of water trickling from underneath the glove box. It was very quiet, but it was there.
6.) When we have this problem, it happens on all of the vents. It doesn't matter what vent you choose for the air to come out of - the flow is just a trickle.
7.) It doesn't matter if it is heat or cold - the flow is very slow on both of these.
8.) The a/c is still ice cold during all of this. It blows colder than any other a/c that I've ever had.
9.) I noticed that sometimes while driving, a white mist will come out of the vents. Sometimes we have the problem above after we see the mist - sometimes it still works fine though, but I did think it was odd that the "mist" was coming out. I'm not sure if it's water vapor or what, but it does go away if you turn the temperature control a little to the warm side (even just a notch or two away from max cold).

Originally, I had thought that it was the blower motor and I was just going to replace it, but then I started thinking about it and don't think that it is the blower motor because it seems to be working well most of the time, and even when I have the problem I can hear it running - again it sounds like something is clogging up the a/c system somewhere between the blower and the vents. I also read some things about the blend doors, but I'm not sure if that's it or not.
