Suzuki - Swift :: Defroster And Heater On - White Vapor Smoke Comes From Vents
I have a 1996 Suzuki Swift. My defroster stopped working several weeks ago.
If I have the defroster and heater on at the same time, white vapor smoke comes from my vents. My heater works fine when I choose the vent option for it to blow directly on me but I can see and smell light blue smoke if I change the vent option to blow on my feet.
In addition a thin white film covers my windows while I'm driving whether I have the heater on or not (and there's a slight oil smell in the car if the heater is on - I do have an oil leak). The thin white film can be wiped from the windows easily at first but becomes more difficult to wipe after 30 minutes or so of driving. Once I turn the car off, the film disappears within 6-8 hours.
Dodge - Grandcaravan :: Steam Coming Out Of Vents Randomly / AC No Longer Cold
I have a weird A/C issue on my 2002 Dodge Grand Caravan. It has steam coming out of vents randomly and when this happens the A/C no longer cold. I turned off A/C and let the fan running for a while, then turn A/C back on and it's cold again. I also notice the A/C will be cold when the fan in 2x speed. It has water dripping out at the right rear and in the front, I understand this coming from A/C but at the right rear? The cabin air filter is clean (replace last week), this could have been something dirty or the vent stuck open/close that cause cold air re-direct its flow to somewhere else!
View 4 RepliesAcura - Cl :: 1998 - White Steam Coming From Front Right Hand Side / Leak Of Fluid
Acura 98 2.3 CL: Looking from the driver's seat, I saw white steam coming from the right hand side of the front. When I came out of the car and opened the hood (now, facing the car as if in oncoming traffic) I noticed the white steam came from the center-left side of the engine area (not the engine). There was also a fluid (slick but not oil - it smelled more like cooling fluid, or some kind of fluid) that was under the car, and it was not just a little bit - it dripped all over an area, probably the size of a small doormat, in the pattern of the car's movement as I parallel parked the car. It has been very cold the last few days, and all the sudden warmed up this week. Some more information:
The white steam and fluid only appeared/dripped three to four minutes after turning ON the de-fogger
the white steam came from the center-right (from the driver's seat vantage point) or, center-left (vantage point of someone facing the car).
the car, after being turned off, made a humming sound and then clicked off
The fluid from the car was slick but not oil (or not purely oil). It again reminded me more of a fluid, it did not smell like oil.
What is this? A blown gasket? Ruptured coolant area? Luckily the car did not do this until I parked it at home (it all happened within a period of about 120 seconds). I am concerned enough that I will not drive it and have it towed to the mechanic to fix. I love this car. (Is there anything I should ask the tower? From what I have been told there is a RIGHT way to tow the Acura!)
Camry :: 2004 Car Running Rough - Temperature Gauge Not Reading Hot But White Steam From Hood
My girlfriend has a 2004 Toyota Camry SE, 2.4, 4 cly, with 198k miles. All maintenance has been done per book guidance since she has owned the car. The other day the car began running really rough on her way home. as soon as she put it into park and lowered rpm the car stalled out. temperature gauge did not read hot, but noticed white steam comes from hood when i seen she pulled up, Opened hood let cool down and coolant looked nasty as heck. So I did coolant flush and replaced the thermostat as per advised from parts store. Did not make a difference because during test drive, half mile down the road, car temperature gauge was reading hot. Shut the car down waited 10 to 15 minutes and drove back home.
Altogether drove roughly 10 miles max in hot condition is stop and cool down and go again mode. Also note, this is the first time using a forum of this sort. Along with, I'm not a mechanic as some are, but I know my way around a tool box no problems. I'm on the verge of just ordering new water pump, belts, fans, fan relays switches, radiator and all since I'm going to be in there to fix it anyways.
Elantra MD (2010-15) :: White Fog Coming Out Of Vents?
I was driving into work this morning. I initially had my windows down, vent on, blower on 1, fresh air. It started getting warm as I sat in traffic, so I hit the A/C button, then hit the recycled air button. White fog started coming out of the vents for about a minute. After that, it went away. I didn't smell any freon, but it's got me concerned. Do you think there could be an A/C issue? I just got the car last Saturday?
View 21 RepliesFord - E350 :: 1990 - Emitting White Smoke Or Vapor From Exhaust Pipe
My 1990 Ford Econoline Conversion van (75,000 miles) recently started emitting white smoke or vapor from the exhaust pipe. I've been told it is steam caused by one of two things - either coolant or automatic transmission fluid leaking into the engine and being burned off. I've checked the oil and no sign that coolant has contaminated the oil (no chocolate shake-like substance). My coolant was a little low, so I topped it off. One possibility is this could be a head gasket issue. I have two questions. First, could it be something other than the head gasket? And second, is it safe to run the engine or drive the van while it is emitting the white smoke?
View 2 RepliesPassat (B6) :: Volkswagen TDi Using More Coolant - White Smoke / Steam On Start Up
I have a volkswagen TDi 1.9 automatic which is using coolant more on short runs than on motorway and produces white smoke/steam on start up even when not cold which disappears after a few seconds. Other symptom is doesn't accelerate though goes OK when once up to speed. Have has cylinder head checked and new gasket so that is not the culprit and also new heat exchanger. There is also a gurgling noise which seems to be coming from the dash board though I am not sure if these things are related. I have read that the automatic has a water cooled EGR, could this be it??
View 1 RepliesGolf IV R32 :: Steam Or Smoke In Vents / Coolant Smell
It might be a bad heater core, but my heater works fine and there is no moisture on my carpet.
Occasionally I'll see traces of steam and smoke enter the car through the vents. I also smell a coolant smell. I was losing coolant very slowly, but the level has been holding.
Now my AC doesn't blow nearly as cold as it once did.
Honda - Cr-v :: 2009 - When Parked White Steam And Loud Hiss Came Out From Passenger Tire?
We have a 2009 Honda CR-V. After driving for about 30 minutes, as soon as we parked, a white steam and a loud hiss came out from behind the front passenger tire for about 10-15 seconds. During the 30 minute drive, we put on the cool air (and maybe air conditioning) for the first time in a few months. Another note, when we stopped to run an errand during the drive, with the car running, the passenger noticed the car sputtered as like it was about to stall but it never did.
View 5 RepliesFord 6.0L Power Stroke Diesel :: White Smoke / Steam Blowing And Losing Coolant
My 2006 6.0 is blowing white smoke/steam and Im losing coolant (not out the top). Pulled the EGR valve and its wet down there. All signs lead to EGR cooler? I've been reading a lot on this forum and Ill do the oil cooler at the same time. I seems VERY important to flush the coolant system before I tear into this. I am afraid of hydro locking the motor or ruining the head gasket or stretching the head studs if I run the truck. How can I do this without further damaging the engine? I am doing this myself. I'll have 3 solid days to finish this job because I have to tow my trailer in 5 days.

When I turn HVAC, doesn't matter fan or A/C, white parts (very similar to salt grain) are coming out from vent grilles and spread all - over the dashboard
I took the car to the dealer Mechanic says the a / c evaporator has to be replaced They have to keep the vehicle for the whole day, disassemble dash completely and replace the part. He didn't mention anything about cabin filter
Toyota - Camry :: 1993 White Smoke Coming From Tailpipe
Every 2-3 days, intermittently-there is white smoke coming from the tailpipe of my car. The car seems to be sputtering, like it wants to cough, plus there is vibration in the steering wheel. All this happens while the car is idle like at a light. Then on other occassion, I am driving on the freeway and the car seems to sputter even at 45-65 mph, then it just smooths out. No problem.
Today, I was in the parking lot, there was no smoke but some sputtering when I shifted from park to drive. I drive 30-40 minutes to get to work and very afraid my car is going to breakdown. Also, I took my car to Toyota dealership and was told they could not tell me what was wrong with my car and to bring it back when to problem occurs again. I have pretty much "babied" my car, so I guess my car is beginning to reach middle age.

View 6 RepliesCamry :: Smoke Coming From Front Vents After A Bit Of Driving With A/C On
[07 Camry XLE V6] A while back my wife mentioned that smoke was coming from the front vents after a bit of driving with the A/C on. This does not happen regularly and the Freon levels do not change. The other day, I witnessed this myself. There was no sweet freon odor - it didn't have an odor much at all. Then after about five minutes, it just went away. If freon was leaking out, my A/C today would not be working, but as far as I can tell, everything still seems to work. I know this car has a design flaw that allows a bit of standing water to remain, but if a drain was clogged, wouldn't the smoke remain consistent or my floor would start to fill with water? {This happened on my buddies Buick}
To answer some basic questions:
1. No it was not smokey or rainy outside
2. Nobody in my family smokes
3. ~85-degrees outside, AC set to 74, not full cold when this happened.
4. We were in the car for only a few minutes after leaving the mall (which is approx 30 miles from my house) On the way there, 5 miles of max A/C to cool the car; no smoke.
5. A/C appears back to normal for now, so I'm doubting a drain clogged.
Camry :: Heater Not Working Properly - No Air Seems To Be Coming In Any Of Vents
I have a 2007 Camry SE-V6 and recently noticed my heater is not working properly. The fan dial works fine and I can adjust the speed of the fan no problem. When I adjust from the defroster, to the feet, to the face etc.. I don't hear that noise I usually hear of the system opening or closing the appropriate vents in behind the dash - all I hear is the fan blower going - as though it's just blowing on my windshield but no air seems to be coming in any of the vents (ie. if I put the dial to the face and the fan speed on high, no air comes out the vents).
If I adjust the temperature, I can feel heat is there vs. cold but since no air is blowing out (all I hear is the blower fan going), I don't get any heat in the cabin. Is this a fuse problem or something more serious? I have about 70,000km so I'm out warranty of course....
Camry :: Volume Of Air Coming Through Vents Decreases When Accelerating
I have a 2010 Camry XLE and just had the AC Evaporator Replaced. After the replacement, I have noticed problems with the AC fan. Specifically, when accelerating, the volume of air coming through the vents decreases. When stopped at traffic lights or when I take my foot off the accelerator, the AC air returns to normal. Even when idling in Park and then press the accelerating, I can feel less air coming out of the vents.
View 2 RepliesToyota - Camry :: 2009 - No Air Coming From Central Vents
2009 CAMRY XLE. There is NO AIR coming from the central vents (the ones right above the CD player). There is air from the side vents (driver and passenger) side and also onto the windshield.
When I start the car the HVAC does not come on for upto 2 minutes. During this time the LCD Panel for the HVAC is blank. The LED light on the AIR RECIRC is blinking during this time. After about 2 minutes - the LCD Panel shows the FAN SPEED at ZERO. When I increase the FAN SPEED the TEMP always starts at 75 degrees and the AC is on. But there is NO AIR in the central vents.
Things attempted so far:a) CABIN AIR FILTER HAS BEEN CHANGEDb) The dealer's service department diagnosed this as AC Ampl. But changing this did not work. What needs to be done.
Camry :: White Smoke Coming From Exhaust On Startup After Replacing PCV Valve
2009 Camry 4cyl
I changed my PCV valve over a month ago and still have white smoke coming form exhaust on startup. The smoke goes aways as always, after that the smell is gone and the car runs like normal. The smell of the smoke is not really sweet as if it was coolant leaking, but its not exactly smelling like burnt oil either (I've had cars that burnt oil real bad and it smelled different than this camry).
I've been keeping an eye out on my oil and coolant levels, both seem to be ok. I refilled my coolant tank to full about 2.5 months ago as it was very low and its still almost at full right now. My oil after about 4k miles on the dipstick measures right in the middle of the min and max dots, which it has been for as long as I've owned the car. So these levels are ok I think.
Now, I've read somewhere a while back that after changing the PCV valve or rather after taking the old one off that there still will be some residue to be burnt off. A way to get rid of that is to create a makeshift vacuum by plugging one end of the hose (the one that attaches to PCV valve) and leaving the PCV valve off while running the engine, putting some kind of cloth or similar over where the PCV valve should go to collect all the burnt stuff, thus cleaning the remainder out. Is it possible that this might be the a solution?
