We purchased a 1990 300 SL that has been cared for by all of the previous owners and runs excellent but recently the car developed a leak from the transmission. We had the local AAA shop replace the pan gasket. The car only leaks after being driven for a while and after being shut off not while it is running. The transmission shifts smoothly but we still can not locate the source of the leak? Could this be a hose or some other connection?
View 4 RepliesDiesel - Brakes - Manual-transmissions - Cylinder - Mercedes-benz :: 1978 - Leak In Vacuum System?
When the brake pedal is first depressed, it sounds like air is being pushed out of it, sort of like flatulence, and are less responsive. When i pump the brake, it fills with air and tightens. The brakes work when I depress the pedal all the way down. Also, I have to pull my driver-side door shut a few times before it will close and lock with the vacuum system. Otherwise it won't close. Eventually the door closes and I can lock it when I shut the door just right. (My mechanic and I are working together to find replacement locks from junk yards) Is this the master cylinder? Or could this be due to a leak in the vacuum system since my door does not readily close? Or is it something else entirely? 1978 Mercedes 240D...
View 4 RepliesMercedes-benz - M-class :: 2006 - Noise Under The Hood
Last week I noticed that my engine (2006 ML350 33,000 miles )was not sounding as it normally does. I called my foreign car repair shop that normally maintains my car but could not get an appointment for several days.
My husband thought that it was possibly a bad bearing in one of the belt pulleys near power steering pump. The noise was getting louder so my shop looked at it sooner and determined I needed a power steering pump, reservoir, gasket, fluid,accessory belt tensioner and belt.
I had no choice but to get the repair.When I picked up my car it still didn't sound right. I was told it would take a little time to break in. Well all week my car was making a lot of different sounds until it got so loud I wouldn't drive it. I took it in today and got the call that it needed what I think was called a/c tensioner pulley. I just want to know if this seems possible. (Car drove fine and no problems with steering before first repair).
Sonata NF (2006-10) :: Gas Leak Under The Car
After hitting 100K mile, every single time I fill her up, I smell strong gas smell around my gas cap area. And yesterday I was about to see my friend around 6pm and check what I found. Gas was leaking under the car. I don't know what is happening and I did all my maintain whenever it come.

For starters I hardly drive my gs430 and ill put it this way. Its almost been a year and i still haven't put 5k miles on the vehicle. back to the matter at hand. I am starting to see an oil leak in my driveway from this vehicle. I am unsure exactly where its coming from. It could be from the valve cover or the cam seal (assuming that is what it is called). The leak is above the alternator that is why I think its the valve cover and or the cam seal (if that's what it is)...

3 days ago I bought 2006 sonata GL (I4) from a guy. He showed me his service record and he had his oil change right before he sold the car to me. However, I notice a fairly big oil drop on the ground after I drove for a while and parked. I tried three times and it all dropped.
One thing that I noticed was that the oil was dropping from the shield on the bottom of the car. So I looked into the engine and I have noticed bunch oil oil wet spot around the oil filter hole on the shield. I have Wix oil filter currently. Is the leak coming from the filter?

I have a 06' JGC with the 5.7L Hemi w/80k and about a month ago I noticed a little smoke under the hood after driving, I found an oil leak and it's running down the passenger side of the rear main seal but the leak is above the seal. I had the shop put die in it and they dont know for sure but they belive it is the head gasket. There is no water in the oil but they said that doesnt matter. Apparently the heads cant be resurfaced on hemi's but they have to be checked to make sure they are in spec.
View 2 RepliesCamry :: 2006 - Oil Leak On Back Side Of Engine
I recently did the repair on my wife's 06 Scion TC for head gasket
I notice there is a slight oil leak.what appears to be oil at least on the back side of the engine but it's right at/above the power steering pump. When I was putting the car back together I used ultra grey instead of the gasket. This is the only area that can leak and I've check the solenoid above the tensioned.
Do you have to use the gasket or ultra ok? I thought that it was power steering pump but it's coming from a area what appears to be higher. Haven't notice a lost of power steering fluid either. Wife said she notices loss in oil. Front/sides are dry as the desert.
Hyundai - Tucson :: 2006 - Power Steering Leak
Just started to leak, evidence on the ground. No noise when turning or driving. The shop said I needed entire rack and pinion but only put the car on lift no other testing. Is this urgent meaning need to get fixed tomorrow? Do I need an entire rack and pinion? Can parts get fixed in the power steering and not the entire thing? They quoted me $1575.00 but I found the rack/pinion part online for $350.00.
I don't drive the car much why did this start?
Passat (B5) :: 2006 GLS V6 - Pressure Forcing The Oil To Leak Out The Seals
I can smell oil buring on the engine untill the oil level gets more than a quart low. The dealer says there is pressure building up in the crankcase that is forcing the oil to leak out the seals. There is some kind of plastic relief valve (y shaped) that tends to plug up and I've had several of them replaced. But the oil continues to leak. Dealer is down to last idea. He thinks that exhaust blow by is causing the pressure & plans to replace the rings to eliminate that. Does this sound like the correct solution? There are 94,000 muiles on the car.

I just picked up a 2010 Elantra with only 74,000kms on it. During the safety inspection the mechanic noticed that the car was leaking oil from the lower half of the engine. Are there any common spots I should look for a leak? The car didn't smoke or appear to burn any oil on the 3 hour drive home, and still appears to be full when checking the dipstick.
View 4 RepliesSonata NF (2006-10) :: Leak At Timing Cover Gasket
Was told my Sonata has a leak at the Timing Cover Gasket by two different service stations. Took it to the Hyundai Dealership and they said they would need to pull the engine out to fix it and it would take a couple of days. I read on a couple of other posts that people were able to replace the timing cover gasket themselves. So, I don't understand why the Dealership said the engine would need to be pulled, but I'm reading others say they fixed it without pulling the engine. Am I missing something...? I'd rather not have the engine pulled out if it doesn't need to be.

Elantra HD (2006-10) :: Dirt On Dipstick And Leak From Oil Filter
I have a 2010 elantra with 60000k that I always had the required maintenence done on it. 3 weeks ago I took it in for an oil change. I just biticed a few oil spots in ground on passenger side and checked my oil level. When I pulled out the dipstick the re was dirt on it or something. its never been like that before. What could cause that? Seems like it happened after the last oil change. Also could the leak be from the oil filter? Heres a pic of the rag after I wiped the stick.
View 15 RepliesSonata NF (2006-10) :: Power Steering Hose Leak?
I've got a 2006 Sonata LX, that has been leaking PS fluid for a while, but has gotten quite a bit worse lately. I finally put it up on ramps, and crawled underneath, and from what I can see, I think it's leaking from the pressure hose someplace.
The hose is covered with some type of a silver wrap. I wiped everything down as much as I could with a rag, waited for an hour, then crawled back underneath. There was some new fluid on the hose wrapping right above where it goes into the steering gear box (the driver-side leg of the hose).
Does this sound like it could be the hose? Would it be ok to remove the protective wrap to make sure? it's only wire-tied on to secure it, so I don't see why not.
Sonata NF (2006-10) :: 2007 - Valve Cover Leak
I have a 07 Sonata and having recurring valve cover leak. First time it happened it leaked onto my alternator and had to get car towed and whole bit. About a year later they discovered it again during routine oil change and had it fixed again. Yesterday during a routine oil change, they discovered a leak again!! I know this is an established problem but how many times can the same problem occur?? I'm passed the warranty (103K).

View 4 RepliesSonata NF (2006-10) :: 2007 - Slow Coolant Leak
My son has a 2007 sonata v6, daughter has one too. Both have about 130K miles, and both developed slow coolant drip leaks. I took off both hoses on both cars, cleaned the crud from the housings and replaced with new hoses and clamps. Problems solved in daughter's car, not so in sons car. I note that it looks like the area below the thermostat housing is wet - and thought that was from the crud/hose situation. But he is still losing coolant, even more now that its getting colder at night, and I's sure its not the hose connection anymore.
The car will generally NOT leak when hot, only as/when it cools off. I.e. puddle in the morning situation.
Looking at the diagrams, it looks like that "housing" is really a connection to the crossover pipe, heater hoses, other stuff (throttle body heat) and also contains what looks like a temp sensor.
I suppose any of these are possible, but my first thought was either a leaky temp sensor (or possibly loose) or something more serious like a cracked housing, leaking o-ring, gasket etc.
