Santa FE SM (2001-06) :: 2004 2.7L V6 - Hiccup Type Sputter When Accelerating After Starting The Vehicle
My car has three codes P0102 - MAF or VAF Low Circuit Input, P0030 & P0050 which are signaling O2 sensor issues.
Car symptoms are a hiccup type sputter when accelerating for the first few times after starting the vehicle. The RPMs will drop down under 1000rpm and it will come back without taking my foot off the gas. The power comes back faster if I flutter the pedal. The last few times it stalled while taking off.
After the car is warm, it runs better smoother. I'm also noticing slightly poor fuel economy. The exhaust smells rich to me.
I'm wondering if there is a fuse that could cause all three codes? Seems like a power problem? Where is the fuse for these sensors?
Should I replace MAF? Can I use the MAF from a 2004 2.4L engine that's at the junk yard? How to proceed.
Chevrolet - Uplander :: 3.9 Hesitate When Accelerating
In the morning, when i go to pick up my news paper at local convenience store, the van is running rough and hesitate when accelerating.When i take the van 1 hous later, it will run smoothly and there will be no hesitation and i will be good for the rest of the day.
If i skip the trip to convenience store and the first thing in the morning i do a long trip, let's say 2 hours trip, the van will run rough all the way during those 2 hours.
When the van is running rough it will stay in this state until it's turned off, wait and restarted again.
When the van is running smoothly, it will stay in this state until next morning.
While driving, it never happened that the smooth running engine became running rough and the opposite is also true. It never hapenned while driving that the rough running engine became smooth.
I suspect that at engine start up, a parameter is stored and kept in memory until the car is turned off, wait and restarted again.
DTC code P0336 and P1174
Oldsmobile - Bravada :: 1998 - Hesitate On Accelerating?
I've been commuting roughly 100 miles round trip daily for work for the past month or so and other than the need for an oil change (I'm at about 6,000 since the last one, current mileage is 171900), my 98 Bravada has been fine. However, this evening when I was about half-way home, I noticed the car was getting a little resistance on accelerating.
I had wondered if it was the wind and rain I was driving through, but the tachometer was jumping regularly, it was in the lower ranges (between 1-2, maybe a jump to 3). I was still able to maintain speed (up to 60mph, and a struggle to get to 65 - somewhat unusual) - however there was noticeable resistance to acceleration. Once I got home I noticed that the temp gauge was showing less than 150 and the oil was fluctuating between 1/4 and 1/2.
Camry 2012+ :: 2014.5 LE Hesitate When Accelerating Then Jerks
I bought New Camry 2014.5 LE. Most of time, my wife drives for short commutes to train stations and work. Its been 1.5 year and it still has less than $10K miles.
I feel it hesitates when I push the accelerator all the way quickly, then jerks. The engine revs up the moment I step on the accelerator but it hesitates before it actually picks up speed. If I step on the gas gradually, its fine.
I have Rav4 (4 Cyc) which does not behave this way.
I took the dealership and asked about it. The tech says it is drive by wire system so unlike old cars, which respond very quickly, may hesitate and considered normal. Some online article says the car's software learns a driving habit so it depends on the driver too but many other postings also suggest its a software glitch.
Is it really normal, a feature of 6 speed or is there a technical service bulletin addressing this issue so that I can show to the tech? Eco mode is turned off.
Toyota - Camry :: Sputter While Accelerating
I have a 1995 Toyota Camry that has 214,000 miles on it. In the past month the car when accelerating seems to sputter and act like its going to stall but it never does. The problem only happened when I was accelerating at low speeds or stopped at lights but recently the problem has been happening at higher speeds especially when going up hill. What the problem could be?
View 4 RepliesJeep - Cherokee :: 1999 - Sputter And Have Trouble Accelerating
1999 Jeep Cherokee Limited, 4.0L, 4WD, I-6, 199,000 Miles Every once in a while, after I start the car and drive maybe 50 feet, the jeep will sputter and have trouble accelerating. I push the gas peddle and it sputters (kind of jerky motion) and doesn?t increase speed. If I remove my foot from the accelerator and press slowly back down (I have to repeat this usually about three times before it works), it ?fixes? itself and drives fine. It only happens shortly after starting and it only occurs occasionally. Nothing in the fuel system has ever been replaced, including the fuel filter (because of its inconvenient location).
View 4 RepliesYaris/Scion & Vitz :: 2000 Echo Hesitate While Accelerating Like Instant Loss Of Power
My car now has a little over 370,000 miles on her. The other day I noticed a hesitation while accelerating, like an instant loss of power/ jerk. It didn't do it much at first and the higher the RPM's the less it seemed to do this. Once I got the car up to 60/70 mph it was pretty much unnoticeable.
What it was. Thought maybe a vacuum leak. Nope. Maybe a bad TPS or CPS (didn't end up checking those), Thought maybe a bad injector or O2 sensor (didn't end up checking those either). I did try some fuel injector cleaner though but saw no change. I had a feeling it had to be a sensor or something because the motor itself runs great other than the intermittent misfire.
So I drive it in to work this morning. (1 hour drive each way) and aside from the minor hesitation/bucking/jerking while accelerating, everything went pretty smooth so long as I had the car up to highway speeds. So I get off from work and start driving home. The problem seemed to have disappeared completely for the first 3 or 4 miles, then all of a sudden it started up again. Only this time it had gotten much worse.
I could no longer get the car to go over 70mph and when I came to a stop the car sounded like it wanted to die (but never did). It took forever from a complete stop to get past all of the sputtering and hesitation/missing to get the car up to speed. It would keep cutting in and out (the motor bogging down, then gaining normal power for a second or two and so on and so forth). So I decide to take it to a shop to see if they can diagnose it.
The guy hooks up his code reader and looks at the car for a little bit out in the parking lot. All he could do was suggest to change the spark plugs and said that that was where he would start. So I went ahead and listened to what he said about the spark plugs (even though I knew there wasn't anything wrong with them because I had just changed them about a year ago). So I'm changing them out and when I take out cylinder 1's coilpack I notice it's wet. It seems somehow water or moisture had gotten down into there. So I dried everything off and changed the plug (the old one looked fine but I changed it anyway) and I went ahead and changed out all the rest of the plugs too (they all looked fine as well)
So after seeing the water around the #1 spark plug and coil pack, The injectors are right in front of there, so I decided to take the plug off the injector and take a look.
Sure enough, I took the plug off of the injector right in front of the #1 spark plug (far left spark plug) and wouldn't you know it, it had water down inside of it. I pulled the plug off of the injector next to it and it had water in it too (but not as much). How water could have gotten down in there but it did. I took a Q-tip and used it to dry up all the water down in there. Put everything back together and took it for a spin and everything was back to normal.
Passat (B5) :: Won't Gear Out Properly - Downshift While Stopping - Sputter While Accelerating?
This is what is happening:
1. When you start driving the car it accelerates fine until it gets to second gear where it keeps accelerating, then you feel a jolt, the odometer jumps 1-2 notches, and it switches into third.
2. When stopping it downshifts fine until second gear getting ready to switch into first to come to a complete stop and again it "jolts"
3. (Sometimes happens) When driving ~25 mph or ~40 mph while continuously accelerating you let-off the gas and then reapply, it stops accelerating and kind of "sputters" and can not accelerate anymore, I have to stop put it in Park and then again put it in Drive and only after that it works fine.
I have taken it to the VW Service and the mechanic could not replicate what I said was happening so I drove with him in the car and replicated the first two steps 3 out of 6 times. He told me that they checked the codes and could not find anything malfunctioning. I told him that clearly something was wrong with the transmission and I wanted something to be done. He agreed that he also felt what I was talking about but it was not enough to come to a conclusion to what was wrong. I mentioned that I wanted this to be written down in the service report, because if something happens they will be aware.
The problem now is that the "jolting" and the stalling-out has gotten worse since the visit to the service 1 month ago. What might be happening and what I need them to repair/change on my car. I am planning on making a visit sometime this week. The first two steps happen when the car is cold or when I switch over form Tip-Tronic to automatic. But that is not always the case.
Ford Escape / Hybrid :: 2002 4WD - Engine Sputter When Accelerating
My daughter has a 2002 Escape 4WD with 3.0L engine.
Coming home from school a few weeks ago she experienced engine running rough on the highway when trying to accelerate. We ran the diagnostic on it and it revealed that #2 cyl coil was misfiring.
I've replaced all of the rear bank coils (in hopes that I wouldn't have to remove the intake manifold again anytime soon). I also replaced the connectors and weatherproofed them.
Replaced all the plugs while I had easy access too. This all went pretty smooth with exception of breaking 3 of the 5mm coil bolts off inside the valve cover. I've also replaced the upper and lower intake manifold gaskets.
It runs much better now except now on the highway, at 1800 rpm/55 mph if I try a gradual acceleration I get engine sputtering and it won't accelerate. If I push hard on the pedal it will downshift and accelerate normally right past this trouble spot. Other than this it idles and runs great.
I've noticed that the 3/4 in. vac hose on back of manifold is getting pinched closed about 70%. this is the hose that leads down to the top of engine just below lower manifold. I suspect this is the problem but cannot determine the root cause. I assumed it was the intake manifold gaskets but those are now replaced.

I have a 2004 Kia Spectra (it is actually a 04/05 split year that generally takes the 05 parts) and when we turn on the car, sometimes the air conditioning/heat doesn't work. I can feel a little cold/warm coming out, but when I turn it higher nothing blows out at all. I can sometimes get it to work properly after driving for like 5 minutes on the highway with the radio off. Other times it turns on right away, but if I stop at the store and turn off the car, the next time it will stop working. What could be causing this?

I drive a 2004 Kia spectra (base model) w/ 93k
My clutch would start out fine as I start the car, but after pressing on the clutch pedal for about 40-60 times on one trip, it'll start to loose pressure & becomes stickier. And as I press on the clutch pedal more & more, the problem gets progressively worse to the point where I have to manually pull the clutch back up with the tip of my foot.
I also notice that when I drive with the air conditioning, the problem would precipitate earlier & clutch response deteriorates much quicker. But when I let the car rest for a couple of hours or overnight, the clutch response would slowly return, and eventually be normal again.
Ford F-150 (2004-2008) :: 2005 - Hesitate On Acceleration?
My F150 has 100,000 miles on it and hesitates and bucks on acceleration. Auto zone pulled a code which I can't remember what it was but did say it was the throttle body actuator was stuck open. I pulled the throttle body and cleaned it with throttle body cleaner put it back on. No change.
View 5 RepliesToyota - Corolla :: 2004 - Stalling / Running Rough And Hesitate On Acceleration
I'm having issues with my 2004 Toyota Corolla with 118K. Every few weeks, the car will go through a phase where it will stall out, run rough and hesitate on acceleration. Oftentimes it is accompanied with the rotten egg smell coming from the catalytic converter. When I decelerate to a stop light, the car will stall. When I start it back up, I have to rev the engine to 2000 rpm in neutral to keep it from re-stalling. Once I get up to about 10-15 mph, the car will jerk and sputter, and at 40mph, the jerking motion gets worse. If the car doesn't stall it'll run rough and have the rotten egg smell. I'm assuming the smell is from unburnt gas.
I find it happens more often when I don't let the car warm up for a few minutes. I've taken it to my mechanic, and i've gone through 2 MAF sensors, cleaned the throttle body. I changed the iridium plugs at 102K and am on top of maintenance with filters, oil and such. Of course when I bring it to the mechanic, the problems don't show up, and we are kinda blind to what could be causing the issue. Also, if I park it for a day or two after the issue occurs, the problems go away. What to look for?
Ford F-150 (2004-2008) :: 2006 FX4 - Hesitate With A Slight Banging Occurs While Coasting Up To 50 - 55 MPH
I've began noticing about 2 - 3 months ago that while coasting up to 50-55 mph my truck begins to hesitate with a slight banging when it occurs. At first I was worried it may have been transmission, but once I talked to ford mechanics, they reassured me it was not, especially at 85,000 miles. I then noticed that taking it out of overdrive prevents the problem. It doesn't act up unless I am on the highway between 50 and 60 mph. It seems to progressively get a little worse and occasionally I can feel a jolt, as if it's struggling to shift into OD. What the problem could be? 2006 F-150 FX4 ...

If i do have to tighten the gap, do i need to do this for each program? I have 4 programs on the chip (stock, 91 octane, 93 octane and 100 octane). I am sure that i'm going to keep it to 91 octane for 99% of the time.
View 1 RepliesFord F-150 (2004-2008) :: 2005 - Hesitate While Driving - Spark Plug Breaks - Normal?
I have a F150 which has developed a miss or hesitation when driving. I took it into my mechanic and he told me this:
This year truck is famous for needing a tune up but the problem is that ford redesigned the spark plugs for these years of trucks. The problem is hat carbon builds up and when u go to remove them the plugs break and sometimes you have to take the heads off to get them out, he said that this would cost around I 2500 is one breaks!
So my question then becomes is this the norm for my V8 2005 Ford F150?
My truck has 85,556 miles on it.

04' Ford Explorer - 4.6l Automatic 4x4 - 138,000 miles... While driving today my transmission hesitated a long time between 2-3 gear and RPM went higher than normal. After coming to a stop a taking off again, long hesitation, slams into 3rd gear, check transmission warning came on and OD light on dash was blinking. I drive it home and pull the code: P0745. I drop the pan and find a piece of metal 1/4 wide x 1/2 long. Does this mean a complete trans rebuild?
