View 1 RepliesMercury - Heating - Cougar :: 2001 - Heater Core Is Apparently Blocked
I have an 01 Mercury Cougar Sport Coupe that we bought from a friend for not too much, just to use as a daily driver. It's got a lot of miles on it, but it still gets good mileage, which combined with the fact that we didn't pay much for it makes it an okay car for around town.
Here's the problem. I live in Wyoming where it's winter nine months out of the year, and the heater core is apparently blocked. I made it all through last winter with this problem, but now it's intolerable. The kids call the car "the Red Icicle". My mechanic diagnosed the problem as a blocked heater core and tells me the only solution is to replace it, which costs something like $500. I can't work on the car as everything is too jammed under the hood to get access to anything.
Do I really need to replace the heater core? The whole car isn't worth much. Is there something I can put in the cooling system that will unblock the core reliably?
Dodge - Heating - Intrepid :: Heater Take Time To Warm And Only Work Whilst Acceleration?
It takes a LONG time for my heater to warm up... to be expected of an old car. However, once my heater is warmed up enough, it blows cold air when I'm idling at a light or anything. Once I get back up to 35 MPH it goes right back up to its temperature. Then drops again when I stop.

I wonder why the AC takes time to start heating on cold mornings. Actually. It gives warm air after about 5_10 minutes of driving. Is that OK?
View 9 RepliesLincoln - Heating - Fans - Towncar :: 2001 - Heater Quits Working On Colder Days
The heater fan quits working on colder days. It is not the fan motor, as twice after it has quit, several days later the fan began working again. As controls are switched, the indicators light and mode shifting sounds can be heard. It seems to be that the fan quits on the colder days (<38 deg) the will resume working again when the outside temperature exceeds 50 degrees.

2000 Chrysler Sebring Convt quit while driving. Tow truck drive and a mechanic at scene of breakdown felt itt seemed like it wasn't getting gas. Replaced fuel pump, fuel filter, 2 sets of plugs ans it won't start and when it did it ran rough and then fouled out new set of plugs. Seemed like too much fuel going to cylinder.
View 1 RepliesRam / SRT10 :: Heater Quit Blowing Hot Air
I have an 03 Ram 1500 that quit blowing hot air. I have heard of doors not opening to divert the air to the heater core. Heater hoses are both hot, so I'm pretty sure the water is going where it's supposed to, just not the air.

Got a bit of a problem with my car. Earlier this week, I got in and noticed there was heavy condensation on the inside of the windshield of my 2002 Chrysler Sebring convertible. The windows had been rolled up and the top up of course. I see this kind of condensation happen on the outside a lot in the mornings. You know, dew settling and all that. If I wait around until later in the day, it evaporates on its own.
Anyway, this time it was on the INSIDE. I wiped it clean easily enough and was on my way.
Today I noticed that my heater wasn't working. The temperature gauge goes up to about 1/3 of the way, so I know the car is warming up. I'm not sure if it normally goes up that high; I don't usually pay much attention to the temperature gauge.
Chrysler - Concorde :: 2002 - Heater Fan Frozen
I have a 2002 Chrysler Concorde I bought a little over a year ago. Recently the heater blower has frozen after a night of freezing rain/sleet. This has happened twice. The first time the fan started working again after the temperature got above freezing for a day. A very small amount of heat still comes out of defroster because I can see it having a effect on the foggy window. But the fan will not blow at all. It is currently frozen for the second time. Extreme cold temp don't affect it but freezing rain does. How can I prevent this in the future?

View 1 RepliesSonata NF (2006-10) :: Car Not Supplying Enough Voltage For Evap Solenoid To Operate (P0449)
My check engine light kept coming on, and the mechanic read the code as P0449. The Charcoal Canister and Solenoid Vent Valve unit was replaced; however, the check engine light returned with the same P0449 code. We removed the Solenoid unit and applied 12 volts directly to the unit to make sure the part was functional. Applying and deapplying the 12 volts caused the solenoid to open and close the valve. Returning this unit to the vehicle, the Solenoid did not function at all when the car was turned on or off multiple times. We checked the voltage from the two pin feed going into the Solenoid, and it was only outputting 4 volts, not enough for the Solenoid to open or close the valve. How to fix this low voltage problem so that the Solenoid Vent Valve in the Evap System functions again.

We have a 2006 PT Cruiser. Within a year the Dodge dealer has replaced the heater core five times. They say it's a defective part each time, but I'm not so sure. Usually the core gets a leak after the car has been driven, then parked for a few minutes. When we restart it the heater core blows sending antifreeze vapor out the heater vents.

I had to replace the vacuum control for the heater in the dash panel. The fan worked good on all 4 speed settings but only in the defrost position due to the damaged control valve. The control valve works all position for the heater positions now. There is power at both sides of the heater fuse under the dash but no blower function. Is there a fuseable link elsewhere in the system to check. Is the fan motor only accessible to test by accessing the heater/AC under the dash on the passenger side. 1973 Crew Cab....

The car heater being stuck on "on" and blowing hot air at full force. The display panel and the push buttons and knobs that control the temperature and location of air flow were not working at all. The next time I used the car, the heat was off but the heater/AC was still dead (display was dark and buttons & knobs not responding). Well, today I used the car locally to do some errands and -- lo and behold -- after driving for a few minutes, the heater/AC was back to normal: the display panel now lights up, the controls work, and both hot and cool air are produced. Why this would magically fix itself?
