3000GT/Stealth :: 1991 GTO Won't Start - Not Getting Spark
I have a friends 91 GTO in my garage and it will not start, it seems to be getting fuel because it smells pretty strong but I know it isn't getting spark, and everything on this car is in Japanese, I cant even figure out what fuses to check or anything...
View 1 RepliesTouareg :: Banging Sound Coming From Passenger Side In Front Under Vehicle
I was coming home from a trip and started to here this banging sound coming from the passenger side in the front under the vehicle. It already sounds like it busted up some gears cause you can here it being tossed around inside the casing. The vehicle will drive but once I get to around 10 mph it would start banging sounding like gears are messed up.
There is no binding there is nothing that makes the car slower but something is broke. I am wondering if there is a gear box under there near the center console and over to the passenger side in the front. Funny thing is... Is that it started in the back rear but stopped then the front started and then broke something. The back is fine though. Think this could be the All wheel drive also or some part of it.
Prius (2010-12) :: Banging Sound Coming From Front End On Driver Side
My wife has a 13 Prius persona. There is a rattling/banging sound coming from the front end on drivers side only. Car has not been in any accident. Toyota dealer has looked at it twice. First time could not hear noise. Second, he heard it. They looked at everything and then stated that it was the ABS Brakes testing. It sounds like something is loose- that is the best way to describe the noise. It happens fairly often, too. Never happened with my 2012 Prius model two when we had it.
View 3 RepliesGmc - Sierra :: 2000 - Heavy Sound Of Marbles Banging Around Near Front Of Engine At Idle
2000 GMC Sierra 2500 6.0L gas engine 150K miles. After returning home from a 150 mile drive, I notice a very heavy sound of marbles banging around near the front of the engine at idle. The noise is a much like heavy detonation where timing is badly off kilter. Used my stethoscope to determine this is loudest at the water pump housing. The belt runs smoothly with no sign of unusual resistance. The engine does not overheat, and there is no sign of a coolant leak. Can a bad water pump shaft bearing make such a tremendous "cackling" noise? What else could it be?

I have a 91 Mitsubishi gto TT. I love my car and i was really hoping to repaint it soon but this problem is becoming more apparent. My car runs fine for the first 15 minutes, runs like a beauty! but then once it is warmed up it starts to struggle. I cant accelerate hard because it hesitates alot. The problem im having is pin pointing the problem. Ive searched a lot of stuff on the web and some people have similar problems.
Could it be bad spark plugs and wires causing some cylinders not to run properly? If so then why does does it run fine for the first 10-15 minutes?
I'll probably have my plugs and wires changed to see if that changes anything.
I just dont understand why my car accelerates great when cold but when hot starts to run sluggish.
Dodge - Stealth :: 1993 - Idling A Little Rough Especially When AC Is On
I have a 1993 Dodge Stealth (3.0 V6 SOHC) that has been idling a little rough, especially when the a/c is on. It was suggested to me that a dirty throttle body could be the cause, so I cleaned it. After I did that it ran great with the exception of idling around 1000 RPM instead of the usual 300, then the next day driving home from work (ran fine on the way TO work) whenever I tried to coast or engine break my engine began to shudder and run really rough! what could be happening?

3.0, SOHC engine...car started for coolant system leak check. Idle jumped to. 3000 RPMs. Shut car off...disconnected throttle cable from throttle body. Started car again, engine ran normally, no coolant leak found. Reconnected accelertor cable to throttle body. Tried starting car again, started rough then died after a few seconds. Changed fuel filter...disconnected fuel line to fuel rail and lots of comes out. MFI solenoid inside car clicks several times after engine dies. Engine tries to run, but wont, after it dies. ECU bad? Other issue?
View 4 RepliesDodge - Dakota :: 1997 - Aggressive Banging / Popping Noise While Driving
I drive a 1997 dodge Dakota 5.2l 5 speed manual 4wd and recently it started making a really aggressive banging or popping noise while I was driving, it also made the truck bounce up and down a little bit and I could feel the shifter move up and down while this was happening. So I went underneath and discovered my transmission mount was out so I changed that and as well I changed a few u joints. One thing i noticed while I was replacing u joints was that when I had the front drive shaft off the whole problem was reduced to just a minor popping noise but once I slapped back on the front drive shaft it all came back. Another problem that is occurring because all of this is that when I tried to use the 4wd in 4 hi it just kicked it out of 4hi but in 4 lo it would stay in but all the problems were still there. The only time it doesn't do anything is when I am already rolling and I put the 4wd selector in neutral to disengage the drive shafts.
I have asked a few different people their opinions and I get different answers, someone thought it could be something to do with the steering shaft or intermediate steering shaft but I think that is not the correct diagnostic. Another one of my buddies suggested that it might be a stretched chain or gear in the transfer case that is causing it.
Golf/GTI VI :: Rotational Scraping Noise From Front End
25k miles, recently started getting this noise from the front end when going ~15mpg or less. Decreases and increases with wheel speed and loudest when coasting to a stop sign. Sounds like a scraping disc brake, however brake pressure doesn't affect the noise. Started happening after last service when they rotated the tires. Haven't had the chance to inspect anything yet.
View 7 RepliesPassat (B6) :: Rotational Shusshhh Sound When Doing A Sharp Turn Left Or Right
We have an '07 wagon that recently started exhibiting the following: When doing a sharp turn left or right you can hear a rotational shhhhusshhhing sound... shussshhh *pause* shusshhh *pause*.. etc. Its obviously linked to the front wheels since going straight does not produce the sound. Brakes and rotors have 13k on them; dealer has checked out the car and says everything looks good and the bearings are fine.
Could this be CV joints or something similar? Where to look? This is not a thud thud thud (which I have heard before when another car of ours needed new cv joints). Safety is main concern, don't want bearings freezing while driving..
Saab - 9-3 :: Rotational Sound Coming From Both Sides Of Rear When Car Is In Motion
2011 Saab 9-3 XWD, currently 9k miles. Just purchased a month ago. Was previously a dealer loaner vehicle. I have this noise coming from both sides of the rear when the car is in motion. I am unsure if it is just loud enough to sound like it is coming from both sides or if it is really coming from both sides.
[URL] .....
It doesn't start immediately, only after the car has been driven a bit. The noise is most noticeable between 5 mph and 10 mph. It is definitely a rotational sound (I can notice fluctuations in the noise as the wheel spins). It appears to come from both sides. When the car is in the air and the wheels are spinning their is no noise (according to the shop I have been to, I have not been present when this has been done), so that would mean it only occurs when the wheels are touching the road. It does not change when the brakes are applied but goes away immediately when the car comes to a stop. It occurs no matter which gear the car is in (automatic). It even makes the sound when the car is off but rolling.
I have taken it to the dealership and several other repair shops. They all take apart the brakes and inspect the drive train, but no one can find anything out of the ordinary.
Golf V R32 :: Rotational Vibration At Front Right Increase With Speed
I'm hoping to see if there is another solution here. I just hit 100k on my .:R and it has developed a vibration that increase with speed front right. I have done a few things already including the following: swapped out winter wheels for summer, had summer wheels re-balanced (both are hub centric). Both lower control arm bushings on L&R side (both were original), new ball joint front right (it was wiped), new hub assembly/wheel bearing front right, re-torqued all the sub frame bolts to spec, inspected tie rod end - appears OK, inspected strut mount - appears OK, strut and coil appear OK, neither CV boot is not torn. replacing the wheel bearing made it quieter but the vibration is still there. It feels like the worst possible unbalanced wheel and the vibration is exaggerated under a load. I'd try a CV next but I'm having a hard time sourcing a front right CV.
View 14 RepliesSaturn Vue :: 2004 - Rotational Noise Coming From The Front End
I have a 2004 Saturn Vue, V6, FWD with ~170K miles. It has a rotational noise coming from the front end that I can't find/fix. My regular mechanic has replaced both front wheel bearings, the rotors and brake pads. Tires have ~35K on them and no noticeable uneven wear. They were rotated and the noise didn't go away. Mechanic thought it might be transmission, but transmission shop disagreed, but couldn't suggest an alternative. The noise is speed dependent. Initially you had to be at highway speeds to detect it, but now you can hear it at 25 - 40 mph as well. Best description is a "whoop-whoop" sound. You cannot hear the noise if the car is parked and you rev the engine.
View 1 RepliesPassat (B6) :: Rotational Scraping Noise Coming From Front End Under Load
Not sure if it's related to the crappy weather we've been having here in the NE, but I've got this terrible rotational scraping / grinding noise coming from the front end (sounds like the right corner). At first I thought it must be the belly pan or a fender liner came loose after driving through snow / ice but everything looks fine. Only occurs when moving, under load, it's affected by steering a bit. I'm watching two little kids I haven't been able to get the wheels off for a closer look.

I have what feels like a rotational vibration (front to back) during mid to hard acceleration in 5th gear (60-65+mph) and its driving me crazy trying to figure this out. I can slightly feel it under hard acceleration in 3rd gear as well.
I have tried two different sets of wheels (both after market and stock) with no luck. I am starting to think it is in the motor and not the suspension... Or could it be the trans? What can I check/inspect to get how to tackle this?

Dodge - Grandcaravan :: 2006 - Knocking Sound From Front Left
Today I noticed a knocking sound coming from what sounds like the front left (drivers side). When I accelerate and when I brake the sound stops. The sound also stops when I am going around a bend in the road as well as when I change lanes. When I am turning a corner I do not hear the sound.
View 2 RepliesHonda - Pilot :: 2007 - Rotational Noise From Front Passenger Wheel When Turning Left
I have a 2007 Honda Pilot. 65K Miles.
Several months ago, when turning left, regardless of speed, my wife starting hearing a noise. It is not a knocking or harsh grinding noise, but a low grumble (I don't have a great word for it). It's definitely rotational, it doesn't get any louder as speed increases, but it obviously happens more often. It seems to come from the right side of the car, I originally thought it was from the wheel, but just now I had it jacked up and had a neighbor who works on cars look at it with me and now I'm not so sure.
When I described the problem to him, he first thought it was a CV joint, or possibly ball bearing. After a few minutes looking under the hood, he quickly ruled those out. Boots were in great condition, and he remarked that everything seems to be very solid around the wheel.
I thought that noise was a result of weight shift to the right side of the vehicle when making right-hand turns, but we had the car up on two jacks stands placed on the jack braces, turned the car on and gave it some gas with the wheels turned left, and you can definitely hear the noise with zero weight on the wheels or axles. When you straighten the wheel, the noise subsides.
Sonata I45 (LF 2015+) :: Rotational Tapping Noise Coming From Front Passenger Wheel Well Area
2016 LTD Ultimate, 2700 miles. First and only Hyundai for the moment.
I've experience this one twice, a few weeks apart: cold start the car, and in the first 100 yards or so I'll hear a tapping noise that's clearly rotational, varies with speed but eventually ceases. Sounds like it's coming from front passenger wheel well area, and sounds like a stick or some sort of debris is stuck in the wheel. Both times I've inspected the area and found nothing whatsoever.
I live in an apartment complex area, park in a lot always in reverse so I'm always going from park to drive. The area I live in is wooded ("Pine Barrens" region of Long Island) but the roads are paved so it's not like I'm driving thru wilderness.
