I am looking for the codes for the tranny and rear diff on my 04. I know the engine is a AXQ but I can't figure out what the 6sp Auto and locking rear diff is. Where on the vehicle I might find these?

Metal on metal rubbing sound when starting off from a stop at slow speeds? It seems like it is brake related because putting on the brakes stops the noise. The noise also seems to go away when you get a little more speed, and maybe when the it shifts from 1st to 2nd ? This also is intermittent.

I did a search and see that this random clicking sound has been discussed but a source never identified. Thought I'd ask again 'cause mine is doing it more often and it's driving me nuts now that I hear it. Mostly at highway speeds, not tied to any particular function or steering wheel turning. It's like a solenoid flipping on and off. I know I could never get the dealer to replicate it and I assume if many Tregs have it, it's just a normal function but thought I'd ask.

About a month ago my Touareg started making loud rumbling noises at highway speeds. It sounds and feels (it makes the whole truck vibrate) like you're driving on the "wake me up bumps" that are on the shoulder. Some times it last for 30 seconds and other times it goes on for the whole trip. It's driving me crazy; however the dealer can't reproduce the problem so they think I'm crazy. It doesn't do it all the time, however, the only common symptom is it happens at speeds above 65 mph. It has happened when it the car was cold and hot, cruise on and off and variable highway speeds. The transmission was replaced right after I received the car due to a malfunction, so the dealer doesn't think this could be a second faulty transmission.

Last night on the way home from running some errands I noticed some sloshing sounds coming from the rear of the car at low speeds. I thought maybe I had some container back there (spare oil, distilled water, etc) that just happened to be making the noise. I noticed it again this morning and it seems to me like the only thing it could be is the gas tank. I don't seem to hear it at anything but low speeds and even then it is not constant. Is this normal? I just filled up the tank for the first time two days ago and I currently have probably 3/4 to 7/8 of a tank at the moment. Is this normal? I'm not used to hearing sloshing in the gas tank.

I had to replace 2 tires on my Camry recently and Discount Tire put the new tires in the back and the old tires in the front. After all was done, I drove off and there was a knocking noise coming from the passenger rear.
The front steel wheel was pretty beat up so it was making the steering wheel shake. Discount put that wheel in the back. They had recommended replacing the wheel. I picked up a new one from a pick and pull and its still making the knocking sound.
I went through the car's interior to try and eliminate anything rattling around making the noise. Checked the trunk and there was nothing that I could think it would be.
It knocks at low speeds from 5 mph all the way up to 40 mph. But once I get to 50 and over on the highway the sound goes completely away. The car does not ride rough or shakes when the sound is present.

I own a 2004 Dodge Ram automatic transmission with tow package. I use the truck fro getting around and moving light loads from here to there, nothing heavy. About two months ago I started to notice a whining sound coming from the rear. I did not pay too much attention to it at first, but it has gotten louder lately. It is most prevalent at speeds above 35 mph. I have tires that are 1 year old and the transmission is two years old. Mechanics have told me the truck is fine but I am concerned! My rear diff had recently started to whine on decel, what I am looking to find out is, would replacing the stock rear diff itself with a peloquin unit be enough of a fix, or should the whole rear housing be replaced as well? I don't want to buy a peloquin rear diff and install it and still have issues because of the pinion shaft being the culprit or something else.

Fixed my AWD. Needed a new Haldex pump. Did a fluid change and new Haldex filter. All using factory stuff.
AWD works great now. The problem though is when im making tight slow speed turns. I.E. backing out of a parking stall. I get a noise from the rear diff like something rubbing, or a tire skidding.
Is this normal? I bought my car from the dealership without my AWD working and just got it fixed, so I really didn't know what an AWD R32 was like.

This problem started in Jan this year and got worse through feb, got it checked in march to find out it had metal shavings and chucks stuck to the magnet. Ive searched the forums for the last few weeks but noticed no one seemed to point out if you can drive it while its like this or is this a recipe for disaster. other than the droning/whining the car will fight me will going in reverse while turning which has happened twice.
