Touareg :: Insufficient Coolant Warning Light?
Just over 2000 miles on trex and i just got an "insufficient coolant" warning light this evening. the car had been idle for 2 days or so (i.e. cold start) and the warning light came on. I was running a short errand -- and when i re-started the car to come home, the warning did not come up. A couple of questions...
1) I checked the floor of my garage; I'm not leaking fluid. how could this have happened?
2) If the light didn't come on during the return trip, is everything ok?
3) Checking the manual, it says that i must use a specific type of coolant if I'm going to top it off myself --
Touareg :: Coolant And Oil Warning Light Keeps Coming On
I have a VW Touareg 2003. The coolant warning light on the dash keeps coming on and is using 5lts of coolant for every 3 tanks of fuel. Also the oil light has also started coming on. I have had a look around the engine and underneath on the road and have found no signs of leaking. Where the coolant and oil are disappearing to.
View 6 RepliesTouareg :: Low Oil Pressure Warning Light - Coolant Leaking
While the dealer was diagnosing my low-oil-pressure warning light issue, they found out that there is a minor leakage around the thermostat housing (So minor that no trace of coolant had found its way to my garage floor). They recommended to have the housing and thermostat replaced. They said that the engine needs to be dropped in order for them to get to the thermostat which is facing the firewall. Now, that's bad packaging.
View 1 RepliesGolf/GTI VI :: 2013 - Shut Off Whilst Driving / Coolant Light Came On?
So leaving work yesterday I noticed my coolant light was on. I checked the coolant level and it was like under an inch below the min level.
I decided to try to drive it a few miles to the dealership for coolant, keeping an eye on the temperature. When taking the exit to get to the dealership the car shut off and the battery light came on. I started it back up and it ran fine the remaining 50 feet until I got to the dealer. I parked it in the service lane and checked the coolant again and it I had almost no coolant in the resevior. I'm almost sure I need a waterpump, which was my first assumption the second I started the car. What I'm wondering is why the car shut off while driving. The engine temperature didn't change the whole way there but I'm wondering if it could be that the car thought it could soon over heat, so it cut the power, or if it could be something else.
The car is a stage 2 2013 GTI with 24k miles.
TLDR~ Can a mk6 gti that is low on coolant shut itself off the protect itself from overheating? Could coolant have leaked onto something to make it shut off? Or do you think it would be for another reason?
Golf/GTI VI :: 2013 - Check Coolant Light Beeping - Leaking?
Had my car since the end of december 12, now after a drive to San Diego from Las Vegas I experienced a check coolant light beeping this morning. I didn't check the fluids the day of leaving but 3 days before and everything was all good. Checked the levels and it looked like there was barely any in the tank. After I picked up some coolant from the local dealer thinking maybe I just needed to put more in don't know why I didn't have them look at it then I should have. As I unscrewed the cap after letting it sit for a while I saw coolant surface in the tank.
I thought that was weird but I said oh well let me put a bit in since it looked like it was just duno if this will sound right storing more inside the engine? Let it run for a bout 20 mins and took off. from the dealership when I didn't get the warning anymore. went driving for some bit and got the same warning when I was heading back to my hotel. now I was tripping :|. I parked the car and let it sit in a spot with n spots of oil came out and found a decent sized puddle after letting it sit for some minutes. wiped a bit of it up with a paper and it seemed kind of dirty but reddish, and it seemed greasy like.
Touareg :: 2004 V6 - Coolant Level Low Light Has Been Coming On / Leaking Antifreeze?
The last week or so, the coolant level low light has been coming on in my 04 Touareg V6, and I've noticed that it is leaking underneath the car. I've been keeping a close eye on the level, and filling it back up until I could get it into the dealer. They can't get me in until the 24th, so when I was under it last night changing the oil I checked it out.
It is dripping from a round plastic piece on the firewall with a square "knob" on it. This "knob" has what looks like a cross indented into it. It was dripping slowly while the car was on, and continues for a few minutes after it's been turned off. I originally thought it was the a/c condensation dripping off, but it's definitely antifreeze.
I fear that it's the heater core and that it is leaking from the inside, but I could just be paranoid. It should still be under warranty (34,000 miles).
Golf IV / Jetta IV :: Coolant Temp Light Came Flashing On - Oil Getting Into Coolant
Okay so recently I was driving my 2000 Jetta and the coolant temp light came flashing on, when I went to check the coolant I was surprised to discover that it was like a mud brown color, almost looks like peanut butter. From everything I have read this can be from a few things, either rust build up that is gunking everything up and oil getting into the coolant somehow. I'm pretty sure its rust build up but I was wondering what everyone thinks about this, I was also not using G12 coolant which I'm told now is the premier brand for VW's.

On Sunday I'm driving to the store my LOW COOLANT light goes on. So I buy some coolant. I get home let the car cool off and check my radiator, it is full. My coolant recovery tank is also at the proper level.
Been three days already checked levels again and I'm not losing any coolant.
What the car is NOT doing:
1. Not losing fluid
2. Not running hot
I'm thinking coolant level sensor?
Touareg :: Low Coolant Warning Came On
I was towing an enclosed trailer (4000lbs) this past weekend on the interstate and the low coolant warning came on. I pulled in at the next exit at a truck stop to look for distilled water and they did not have any. I decided to buy an off brand long life premixed coolant, pink in color and topped off the overflow tank with about 1/2 gallon of coolant. After reading about not mixing coolants with the G12 that comes in the Touareg, will I have to drain the entire cooling system and refill with G12? or is this not enough to worry about? Should I get the dealer to do this for free since they just serviced my truck prior to my trip and I told them I was going to be towing and to make sure everything is okay?
View 9 RepliesTouareg :: Found Coolant In The Cylinder
I have a 2005 Treg V6. I took it in last week for the 20K check up. After having the vehicle all day I was told they have found coolant in the cylinder. I have been told it is either a warped head or a head gasket issue. This sounds serious.....never had this kind of issue with my many VW's over the past 10 plus years....should I be worried about more trouble down the future? I guess I am just not keen on VW technician ripping parts of the engine apart and putting it back together..

View 5 RepliesTouareg :: V8 Engine Coolant Level?
My Touareg has 9400 miles and yesterday I checked the coolant level when cold. Inside the reservoir there is an awkward yellow cylinder with the max and low words. The manual is not very detailed about where the level should be like the oil, or at least show a picture. I noticed that my coolant is right underneath the letters LOW for the low mark. I would take it that I need to add, but need to confirm whether or not that is an OK level. Could LOW be the translation by the Germans for the cold mark? My American made GMC Envoy has a clear reservoir with precise max-cold-low marks so you can actually safely see the level even when hot and be sure about it. I ask this because today I had the 10000miles service done and the tech said the level is fine.
View 8 RepliesLexus GS 2013+ :: Coolant Reservoir Cap Leaking
What's with this coolant reservoir cap keeps leaking coolant?! I've been having to clean mine every few hundred miles now. The dealer overfilled my coolant but I already drained them out to just below the Max line and it still pushes out coolant. It was much worse when it was overfilled though. Now it's barely visible under the cap. Toyota of all people doesn't know how to design a proper coolant cap? On a 60K car? Can u all check under the hood and see? Cause u might have coolant leaks all over.
View 1 RepliesTouareg :: Slow Coolant Leak After Engine Shut Off
My wife has a 2006 Touareg V6.
Noticed a coolant leak a week ago, refilled with coolant, and as of today the coolant warning has not come back, so whatever it is must be a very slow leak. Today I took the opportunity with the unseasonable warmth in Chicagoland to investigate.
Got the T-reg up on jacks and belly pan removed, ran the engine while inspecting the bay, didn't see anything.
After I shut the engine off, however, I noticed a small but somewhat steady dripping coming from roughly the middle of the front of the engine block.
Pulled the plastic cover off one of the pulleys, part # reads: 022 121 341. I couldn't find a match anywhere online, but I got tons of results for 022 121 011, which is the water pump.

View 3 RepliesLexus GS 2013+ :: Engine Coolant Coming Out Of Reservoir Cap?
I was cleaning my engine bay today and noticed there was some coolant in the reservoir tank area, it looks like it's coming out from the cap. The cap does have another hose that isn't connected to anything, just for overflow I guess and I did see dry coolant inside that hose too, so it must be coming out of there and there was some underneath the cap also.
I cleaned it up and warm up the engine and did some revvings and all seems well. No leak whatsoever. Weird. Do they check the coolant at the oil change service? Maybe they overfilled my reservoir tank?
Santa Fe (DM - 2013+) :: Coolant Tank Is Completely Empty
Was under the hood today and noticed the coolant tank is completely empty. Car hasn't overheated or anything...just odd that it apparently wasn't filled correctly from the factory. It should be in the middle of the high and low markings, correct?
