Lexus GX 2004-09 :: Air Suspension Disables In Freezing Temperature

There has been below freezing temperatures here in NYC and I noticed that the air suspension is disabled when left out in the cold.

The fist time I noticed this was when the temperature was 15 degrees and while driving the ride was very bouncy. I noticed I didn't hear the air compressor coming on. I tried raising the suspension from "N" to Hi or Lo but nothing happened when I pressed the button, not even the light, it just remained on "N".

I parked inside the garage and after about 20 minutes I heard the air compressor running and felt the car leveling itself. I was also able to adjust the by using the height control switch.

I have come to the conclusion that the cold weather is causing the air suspension to be disabled. I'm thinking the suspension should work at these temperatures. Is there any DIY for removing moisture from air suspension?

Prius (Gen 2) :: Passenger SRS Only Works When Temperature Dips Below Freezing

When the temperature is above freezing, the Passenger Airbag light is always "Airbag Off" and the flashing red light does NOT engage, regardless of whether a passenger is sitting in the seat and regardless of whether the seat belt is latched.

When the temperature dips below freezing, the system works as expected:

No passenger: light is "Airbag"
Passenger with seat belt: light is "Airbag On"
Passenger with no seat belt: light is "Airbag On" with red flashing seat belt sign

I can't imagine the issue is related to a component inside the passenger compartment (the seat weight or latch sensors), as the temperature inside the vehicle is usually above 60 F. That said, are there any components outside the compartment (under the car or in the engine compartment) that could be causing this behavior? Is this a water freezing/unfreezing issue, caught in some wiring somewhere?

Toyota - Corolla :: 1998 - Suspension Locks Up Below Freezing Temperatures?

The driver's side rear suspension on my wife's 1998 Toyota Corolla LE completely locks up when the temperature (read-out from dashboard) is below 30-degF... every little crack in the road feels like the earth is splitting in two and jars my spine. The car becomes almost undriveable. However, above 33-34 degrees, it goes back to being perfectly driveable (as driveable as a 240k mile car is expected to be). I've replaced the front and rear linkages and rotated the tires to try and rule out the wheels... no change in behavior. I just need this car to last another year... really not worth replacing the suspension.

Touareg :: 2004 - Driving With A Failed Air Suspension?

Bit of sticky problem - it looks like the air suspension system has failed on my 2004 T-Reg. The back-end is dragging - down to aprox 1 foot off pavement and there is no air in the compressor bottle. The problem is that the next dealer is about 75 miles and bit of a ferry ride away. The ride is bouncy and harsh - but otherwise stable.

Touareg :: 2004 - Front Left Air Suspension Sitting Lower Than Normal

By way of brief background, I have a 2004 Touareg with 180,000 miles. I recently noticed that the front left air suspension was sitting lower than normal after the truck had been sitting. I discovered that the shock was leaking air and in the subsequent days began getting "Running Gear Workshop" warnings on the MFI. I got both the orange ones and a red one that instructs you to stop immediately. It reset after parking, and restarting. In summary, I knew I had a problem.

Today, I stopped at the dealer and they confirmed that the fitting at the top of the air shock was in deed leaking. Attached is a photograph showing the fitting. It is important that you inspect these fittings ASAP if you have air suspension. There is a TSB that references corrosion and possible failure. See TSB 43 07 01

Initially I was told that the entire air shock would have to be replaced but after doing research and with the assistance of Spockcat, I discovered that the fitting can be replaced assuming the female portion of the connection is not corroded. Replacing the entire air shock assembly is expensive. Apparently, there have been some instances where the fitting has failed during driving and bad things happen.

Ford Brakes/Suspension :: 2010 F250 - Steering Wheel Gradually Works Itself Off-Center

I have a 2010 F250 King Ranch FX4. I have an odd problem that I am trying to get to the bottom of. We went on a 2,500 mile road trip last year and I noticed on the way home my steering wheel had worked it's way off center counter-clockwise at a perfect diagonal. I had gotten an alignment right before we left and it was perfect center at that point.

I took it back in when I got home and had a tire rotation and another alignment. Within a week the wheel was off again to the same degree, counter-clockwise at a perfect diagonal.

Two weeks ago... tired and annoyed of driving like this, I crawled under the truck and adjusted the steering wheel to center via the drag link adjustment. I tightened everything down tight and this lasted all of three days.

Wat would cause this? Tires are wearing normally, alignment checks out and it tracks straight. I do see some grease like leakage where the pitman arm meets the top of the drag link and again have some small grease where the drag link connect to the passenger side tire. I lifted the front end and tried to move/wiggle the tires and I have no movement... everything is solid. The truck never wanders when on the road... steering wheel is just off.

Truck only has 90k on it of highway miles and an easy life thus far. I am not hard on the truck.

Lexus GX 2004-09 :: Wiper Fluid Nozzles Freezing And Becoming Inoperable

I've been having trouble with my wiper fluid nozzles or something else in the fluid assembly freezing and becoming inoperable. It's pretty dangerous because I'm usually driving on the freeway with a lot of spray hitting the windshield and clouding the view.

Forgot to mention....this happens typically below 20 degrees and I'm using -20 fluid.

Lexus GX 2004-09 :: Motor Turns Over For Roughly 3-4 Seconds Before Starting In Freezing Temp

Noticed that motor turns over for roughly 3-4 seconds before starting when their GX has sat for awhile in well below freezing temperatures?

It's not slow turning over just takes a little bit longer to actually catch and start.

When the motor is warm or the outside temperature is closer to freezing or above I find that it turns over for no more than about 2 seconds before it starts.

I am thinking the longer turning over when cold is a good thing since the motor is starting to pump oil when it is turning over and allowing the internals to get lubricated before starting and revving.

Touareg :: Air Suspension Breaks Down While Going 65 Mph

Today my v-10's front air suspension broke? while driving at 65 on a freeway i heard a metal clunk like the sound of a manhole cover slightly ajar being run over, but no impact on the wheel, just this sound , i do not believe i hit anything it just happened out of the blue. after another 5 minutes or so i noticed my front end seemed different, and then i got a priority one red triangle message to STOP with a message about wheels or brake or something. i pulled over and saw that the front end was lower than I've ever seen it. i made it to a dealer a couple of miles later and the front end was as low as it could go with the rear up at the normal height. no leakage no visible damage its just screwed up. I've got 21,000 miles on it and i do drive a little aggressive.

Touareg :: Air Suspension Adjusting Up And Down At Red Lights

When I have it set to comfort, it will adjust up and down at just about every other redlight. Also when I get out sometimes the front will go down. Not leaking or anything there is a electro-mecanical type noise heard and both sides of the front go down the same amount. Is this normal?

Touareg :: Air Suspension Failure At 70K Miles?

Was driving on some segmented highway concrete that send my front end into quite a thrashing. Slowed down quite a bit and it settle down some but nothing like that before. Pain attention to ride but it feels OK, corners, etc. BUT, over the past few weeks, I've noticed that it has become quite sensitive to sharp transitions (BOTS dots a.k.a. line markers, driveways, etc. so I have a suspicion that one or more of the air spring assemblys has possibly failed or a leak.

It's like the equivalent of a worn out strut. The car hold up. Raises and lowers, etc. But I can't push down on the car to test the response of the suspension like a standard strut car. What is the expected life of the air suspension? And cost to replace pair or all four. Not looking forward to the possible expenses.

Touareg :: Air Suspension Pump Making Noise

I removed the long plastic cover under the right side of the car to expose the air pump. Switched the car on and looked for any obvious signs where the noise came from. Mine showed a missing nut and some play in the bushes. Some strategically placed cable ties, foam and a new nut and the air pump is silent again. Now who said these cars need deep pockets to maintain?

Touareg :: A Lot Of Suspension Noises In Rocky Sections?

Yesterday I had the egg out for its first off-road adventure. The terrain was mostly loose rock with a few boulders to traverse. The egg went great but there was a lot of suspension noises (clunks, clanks, and pops) in the rocky sections. I'm used to four-wheeling with a solid axle Jeep and I was curious if this is a normal occurrence with the egg. I had the air suspension raised to the off-road level and at times it made noises similar to a loose shock.
