View 33 RepliesElantra GD (2013+) :: Creaking Sound Coming From Closed Panoramic Sunroof When Drive Slowly
2013 Elantra GT prompted me to join. There is a creaking sound coming from the closed panoramic sunroof when I drive slowly over an uneven surface (e.g. driving over an uneven gravel driveway that has potholes). It is only an issue when the car is subject to a twisting action, and the roof is closed. For example, there is no creak when I drive 90 degrees over a speed bump; but, there is a creak if I drive over the speed bump at a diagonal. The creak disappears when the sunroof is open. I have taken the car back to the dealership several times and they don't know how to address the problem .
How this creak can be eliminated (without use of sledge hammer, which has crossed my mind at few times; also, driving with the sunroof open all the time is not an option for those of us living in the north).
Sonata I45 (LF 2015+) :: Snapping Noise From Rear Panoramic Glass
I have a 2015 Limited with the pano glass. Have an occasional cracking/snapping noise coming from the rear of the glass (not the moveable piece, but the fixed piece)? Were you able to get it fixed? The tech says it's because of body flex, and that there's no fix for now. I'm tempted to drop the headliner and drive it for a few days to try to pinpoint it.
I'm not quite sure what would be making that type of noise with body flex. Everything I can imagine would be fixable with maybe a nylon washer or some felt. Now that the temp is in the 50s, it's happening a lot, and it's starting to annoy me.
Camry :: 2008 SE V6 With Sunroof Ticking / Creaking / Moonroof Structure Noise
2008 Camry SE V6 with sunroof ticking / creaking / moonroof structure noise. Car has 50K miles on it. Has been in 1 slight driver side scrape accident but no crunching. Dealer says it's about 6.5 hrs labor to fix since my car is way passed the 3 year 36,000 mile warranty. TSB doesn't extend it at all.
TSB is T-SB-0088-12
Sonata NF (2006-10) :: Creaking And Popping Sound While Driving
Just replaced the front struts last week and the upper control arms this morning. After putting everything back together I drove her around the block and noticed a horrible popping and squeaking like something was loose. I quickly limped her home and double checked that everything went back on properly and was tight. Car is the V6 with eibach's and about 103,000 miles I have drain and filled the tranny every 30-40k.
What this sound might be? It goes away once I am above about 10-15 mph and sounds like it is coming from the center underside of the car. I will also try to get a video of the sound while I am driving.

Sonata NF (2006-10) :: Knocking / Creaking Sound Only In Hot Weather
I have a 2009 Sonata Limited (4 cyl), and since the beginning of the summer, I have had a knocking/creaking type sound coming from both the front AND back of the car, which feels like is coming from underneath. I can feel it in the floor when it gets really hot, and therefore really bad. I hear it almost exclusively while accelerating or coming to a complete stop. When it gets really hot out, I can hear it very slightly while driving at slower speeds, but that's about it. Has no correlation to making turns, as would be the case with a tie rod.
I find it extremely strange that this is happening only in the heat. When it's cooler out, say below 80-85 degrees, there is no sound whatsoever. The car runs phenomenally otherwise, very quiet. Based on some stuff I've read, it seems like a suspension issue is a possibility? I live in a neighborhood with extremely poor roads, and actually live on a dirt road.
Sonata I45 (YF - 2011+) :: Parking Brake Creaking Sound
My vehicle: 2013 Sonata Limited - 4500 mi. When I park on an incline, set the parking brake then release the foot brake, hear a 'creaking' noise from rear. Dealer says "it's normal and nothing can be done" ? I don't think so...
View 6 RepliesSonata I45 (YF - 2011+) :: Cruise Control Will Not Go On And Creaking Sound In Sunroof Area
2012 Sonata Limited... I purchased my car in November of 2011. It had allegedly been driven for 5500 miles by a salesperson at the dealership.
Within a week, both my husband and I noticed that the cruise control would simply not go on every once in a while. The dealer claims to have taken apart the cruise control, looking for problems, but says there are no problems; that I should come back in after docummenting problems more specifically.
I also continue to hear the creaking noise in the sun-roof area. Allegedly, the Body Shop adjusted the headliner clips, but I still hear creaking.
I am most concerned with the cruise control, but annoyed at the dealer for keeping my car for over two weeks and having achieved nothing. I like the car, but this kind of a start with it makes me want to sell it and go get either another Honda or a used Volvo.
Sonata NF (2006-10) :: Loud Creaking Sound Coming From Rear Left Of Car
I have pushed the back windshield, and haven't gotten a peep anywhere, so it's not that. It's coming from the outside, because it is so much louder driving slower with the windows down. It appears to be coming from the rear left of the car. It's a definite "creak," and not a "thunk." Sounds like creepy stairs being walked over repeatedly...I haven't investigated hard enough to really pin point the direct spot, but it would sound to me like it has something to do with the suspension in the back left. However, it's not any more prominent when I hit a bump than it is just accelerating or decelerating, so that also leads me away from it being a suspension issue. I know I should look further into it to locate the spot.

Sonata NF (2006-10) :: Suspension Noise - Creaking / Knocking Sound At The Left Rear
2006 Sonata 2.4 GLS. My car has done 60000 miles and has developed a creaking/knocking (metal on metal clunk) sound at the left rear. it is only noticeable at low speeds when accelerating and decelerating in stop start traffic.
It is not the shock as I have removed the shock and driven the car and the noise is still there, I have also looked at all the bushes and nothing is obvious. I have also checked tightness of all bolts/nuts.
Sonata I45 (YF - 2011+) :: Brakes Make A Crunch Or Creaking Sound When Pedal Is Being Pressed Or Released
Ive got a 2011 Sonata GLS with 111k miles. I purchased the car new. For the past several months the brakes make a crunch or creaking sound when the pedal is being pressed OR released. The funny thing is it only happens when driving forward. When I apply the brakes while reversing, the brakes are silent. I did a pad slap at 68k and have taken everything apart, cleaned and re-lubed to no avail. The sound can be heard at the front wheels when someone else works the pedal while the car is parked. Pads have about 50% thickness. Pads? Calipers, master cylinder?
View 27 RepliesSonata I45 (LF 2015+) :: Clanking Sound When Going Uphill?
I've been noticing a metal type 'clanking' sound whenever I am gently accelerating up a hill on my 2.4L.
It doesn't happen all the time though. It's not the usual GDI ticking sound. It can be heard when the windows are open but yet I can not tell where the sound is coming from. It doesn't happen enough that I can replicate it so I haven't taken it in for a check. The car drives fine though.
Sounds when going up a hill? Not sure if it's from the engine or from the transmission getting confused trying to change to the right gear. Perhaps the sound is just normal...

View 13 RepliesSonata I45 (LF 2015+) :: 2.0 Turbo Sound On Cold Startup
So I brought the Sonata home and she sat in the garage for 5 days as I was traveling. Then when I got back, I was so eager to take her for a drive. At this point she only had 72 miles on the Odometer. When I started her up, I thought the engine sounded rougher and louder than usual. My other car is a Turbo Diesel and that does not make this loud a clatter. After a few minutes of idling and driving, the engine quietened down quite a bit.
Video of the sound at cold start up.
Sonata I45 (LF 2015+) :: Grinding / Metallic Sound Under Acceleration?
I have been having a grinding/metallic sound when going up hills in 4th/5th gear. It sounds like if you threw metal into moving parts. I believe it's coming from my engine or transmission. When i was at the dealer last month for a campaign and ecm upgrade i mentioned this problem and they replaced the vcm motor assy, however the problem still exists. What could be causing this problem?
View 3 RepliesSonata I45 (LF 2015+) :: Engine Vibrate And Sound Strained While Cruising
Eco model (1.6T/DCT). driven 17k miles.
My biggest concerns seem to be the DCT transmission. It's....rough to say the least. It jerks and makes terrible noises in parking lots, which can be quite embarrassing if someone else is in the car. Just today, someone said "is your car okay?" I understand that DCT's are different, but I have driven this car since brand new, and it was never this bad.
The car also seems to shift to a gear that is too high for the speed, making the engine vibrate and sound strained while cruising. This problem occurs around 1500 RPM with the gas pedal pressed and just driving along. I can easily reproduce the issue by putting the car in manual mode, selecting the highest gear possible and then trying to accelerate without hitting the kick-down on the accelerator.
I use synthetic oil from the dealer, changed the air filter already, did the fuel injector cleaner additive and also use ethanol free gas.
Sonata I45 (LF 2015+) :: Burbling Sound When Pressing On The Brakes Or In Park
I have a peculiar burbling sound when pressing on the brakes or in park. Sometimes I get in while reversing. It sound like it might be idle related and may have something to do with the exhaust but I am not sure.
