Sonata NF (2006-10) :: Seat Belt Icon On Dash Start Flashing / Flickering With Noise
I have a bizarre issue, once the car is running about 20 minutes, the seat belt icon on dash and passenger seat belt light (unoccupied) start flashing. Then the flashing become more like a flickering with a noise. At this time all power windows become sticky and operate under the same bop if you will as the seatbelt light. The doors the will not lock and the alarm will not work. Today it took me about 6 minutes just to close one window and i had to lock the car manually. After a few hours with the car being off, everything works fine again, then another 20 minutes of driving the issue reappears.

My wife just called me driving our 2000 Passat Wagon. What she said... "I was driving along and heard a beep from the dash. I looked down and the instrument cluster said "STOP" in really big letters, and the ABS light was flashing." Also - the MPG reader has been going a little crazy lately. What would cause this? I have a 2006 sonata and my alarm light on my dash board is blinking rapidly and then my blinker lights will turn on and stay on for a few seconds then it does everything all over again. My car has never done any of this except a slow blink in the red LED alarm light. I don't want my battery to die! Is there anything wrong with my car or is this normal?

I have tried resetting the ECU via fuse pull. I have confirmed brake lights work (as do all of the lights). Car has just 66K and simply will not start at all. Battery terminals clean and connected.
ECU?
ECU Capcitor leakage?
This thing is a blast to drive, but has so many issues and is not stuck in my garage!
Sonata NF (2006-10) :: Headlights / Interior Lighting Flickering
Past week I have noticed a flicker on all lighting (head/taillights, interior lights) on my '06 Sonata (4cyl). Seems to be an intermittent problem, as one time in three there is no flicker, and everything seems to be fine.
Yesterday, when pulling into my driveway, I momentarily lost all lighting/radio/fan for what seemed to me a full second and a half before everything "came back on".
I've checked fuses, battery cables (batty is new, 6mos)... Is this alternator related? What else should I be looking at? My Sonata has been bulletproof. No mechanical issues whatsoever....
Sonata NF (2006-10) :: Battery Light Flickering For Just A Fraction Of Second At Irregular Intervals
2009 3.3 GLS ... Yesterday my wife told me that the battery light in her Sonata was flickering for just a fraction of a second at a time at irregular intervals. Nothing else was an issue so we didn't think much of it, started fine, no other lights.
She just called me to tell me that on her way into work it started very hard, all the lights on the dash were flashing, the engine was stumbling and wanting to quit, and the radio is no longer working.
It will be several hours until I can get to it to check it out, but my first thought is to check the grounds. I haven't worked on this vehicle in the past so exactly where to look first or any other issues I should look for...
Sonata NF (2006-10) :: Lights Flickering / Engine Surging And Hard Starting
Last Thrusday, my wife couldn't start my Sonata 2010 with 30,350 miles on it. It just clicked and sounded like a dead battery. She had to get a jump start through Hyundai road side service.
I change the battery yesterday (it only had 225 cranking amps) and immediately strange things started happening: lights flickering, engine surging, hard starting, not starting just clicking, gauge lights blink strangely at startup and when switching off ignition, not remembering odometer settings (I set my odo for MPG).
SC/SL/SW :: Dash Lights Flickering - Car Wants To Turn Over But Won't Start
I started the car this morning, plugged the phone charger into the lighter socket, noticed the charger light wasn't on, pressed the charger in tighter, the car started to run funny, then it cut off. Lights work, radio won't work, all fuses are alright upon several visual inspections. Car wants to turn over but won't start. I tried disconnecting the negative battery cable to see if the car would revert back to "normal". I have never had a problem with this car in the two years I've had it; the battery was purchased brand new in November of 2011. I unplugged the cigarette lighter to see if that would work but nothing so far. Could it be the ignition switch?!

195K, B5, 1999, AEB. The battery light on the dash is flickering...mostly off, but the light (battery symbol) lights up ever-so lightly...then off, then on...on for about half of a 45 minute drive last night. Voltage regulator? Alternator? The battery seems fine, as it turns over after a cold night...
View 6 RepliesPassat (B6) :: Interior / Dash Lights Flickering
The last month or so, I have noticed that my dash board lights (red lights) and my actual interior lights that come on when you open the doors to vehicle will flicker sometimes...And it can get bad I guess and annoying. It's more of it pulsating really. I noticed today while driving home and I had the radio on loud it was doing it and I do not know if was just in my head that it was doing it more when the radio was loud or what, but this is ridiculous.

Well guess I will finally break down and go to the actual STEAL-ership and let them see what is going on. I put some brand new OEM TPMS sensors in my new tires but for some reason, the car continues to pop the actual letters "TPMS" up on the dash. I don't know if one of the sensors that I got were bad or what. Its crazy though because tirePlus was able to get it to go away for like a week, then it came back on last night.
View 11 RepliesSonata NF (2006-10) :: Dash Lights Shorting Out
Seems like every time I drive my car at night when it's raining, my dash lights flicker some and then turn off completely. The exterior lights stay on, just the dash lights turn off.
When this occurs, I typically hit the top of the cluster w/ my hand and the lights come back on. Then I adjust the illumination setting and it goes back to normal. (I used to have to do the same thing on my old 1991 Jetta). So obviously there is a short somewhere.
It's not a big problem, it just gets annoying having to hit my car for being bad.
Sonata NF (2006-10) :: Dash Lights Won't Turn On
I flush mounted my bass knob where the extra spaces are next to the esc button and light dimmer, in order to take that out i unplugged those two harnesses and now when i put it all back together my dash lights wont turn on (speedometer , temp, gas) along with where the a/c buttons are. What fuse would it be? I checked the one that said cluster but that wasn't it, what else could it be?

View 1 RepliesCamry :: Transmission Grinding When Accelerate Rapidly And RPM Hits 3500 To 4000
I have an '08 Camry purchased a week ago. When I accelerate rapidly and the rpm hits 3500 to 4000 I hear a metallic grinding noise. It is only while crossing this rpm range. Only on acceleration. I have had some luck replicating the grind and making it last longer by feathering the throttle and holding the rpm in this range. It does not happen at any other range and I can get it to happen in D or 4. Have not tried other gears. My thought is some sort of drive train issue but the dealer mechanic says maybe an engine mount or something else. Sounds too metallic to be a rubber mount to me.

View 3 RepliesCamry :: 03 - Dash And Dome Lights Began Flickering At Start Up
I have a 2003 Camry V6 LE.
Yesterday the headlights did not turn off automatically when the car was locked up after being driven for about 30 minutes. Unfortunately, this was not detected until about 8 hours later.
The door locks would not function with the remote and the doors were manually unlocked.
When I got in the car and tried to start the car the dash and dome lights began blinking/flickering, the CD player ejected the CD, and the security light was blinking as it would if the doors were still locked.
The battery was too low to start the car so I jumped the car to start it and got home.
Battery showed 12.7 volts cold the next morning before the car was started. While running there was about 14.3 volts across the battery terminals which would seem to say the charging system is OK. Battery is just under 3 years old.
Doing some testing, I found that the headlights would turn on with the multifunction switch without the car running. In this case they would not turn off through locking the doors even after double clicking the lock button on the remote. The only way to turn them off in this case was through the multifunction switch.
Other testing shows that if the lights were turned on with the car running, they would turn off automatically within about 30 seconds or so when the car was shut off and the doors locked. In another similar test with the engine running and then shut down I also tried the double click lock using the remote and this also turned the lights off immediately.
Based on research on TN site, one recommendation for a similar, but not identical, problem was to replace the multifunction switch. No one suggests replacing the headlight relay or any of the 4 DRL relays.
Sonata NF (2006-10) :: Tail And Dash Lights Stopped Working
Tail and dash lights would go out unexpectedly, so I would turn light switch off and then back on and they would work. After about a week they stopped working all together...I checked all fuses related to the lights and dash as well as bulbs.
View 5 RepliesSonata NF (2006-10) :: Red Airbag Light On Dash Illuminated When Started The Car
Warning - rant/venting ahead.
Yesterday out of nowhere the red Airbag light on the dash illuminated when I started the car. This has never happened before. I tried turning the car off and on, but it just came back.
The light comes on normally, then goes out. It then comes right back on at the same time the "passenger airbag off" light illuminates.
I made a quick check of the connections under the passenger seat and none seemed loose. I'm planning on taking a closer look and disconnecting/reconnecting the terminals to see if anything is obviously wrong.
I'm pretty mad that my Sonata has another problem. It only has 80k miles. I've owned it just over one year and I've had the following problems:
-fuel overflowing. I haven't been able to sort this one out yet.
-OCV failure. I replaced it myself.
-Lots of ABS and brake warning lights. Dealer eventually told me I needed a new ABS pump for nearly $2000.
-Now this airbag problem.
I'm definitely very dissatisfied with the reliability of this car. If I had it to do over again, I definitely would have spent a little more to get another brand. This has been the most unreliable car I've owned in my 13 years of driving.
