Sonata NF (2006-10) :: GLS Not Starting - No Clicking

I have a 2010 Sonata GLS that isn't starting. I have full battery and plenty of gas. It doesn't click or anything, but all of the lights and electrical equipment work fine. Is there a common problem with this car that causes it not to start?

Sonata I45 (YF - 2011+) :: 2012 Crank Over A Bunch Before Starting

I've owned my 2012 sonata 4 cylinder since new. It now has 54k and all of a sudden tonight it is hard starting. I drove it to my buddies to put my snow tires on and after I was done I went to start it and it cranked over a bunch before starting. It's not slow like a battery. Part way home the check engine light came on. I came home disconnected the battery. Tightened the gas cap just in case and tried starting it again after 1/2 hour. Still cranked a bunch before it started. When it starts it idles smooth still. When I give it gas from idle it sputters a bit then revs right up.

Sonata I45 (YF - 2011+) :: Slow Crank - Starting After Multiple Tries At Turning The Key

The car basically struggles to crank. Today it failed to completely start. It took multiple tries at turning the key to get it kick and each time the car would chug until it started.

About a month ago, the dealership said she needed a new battery when she took her car in for an oil change. They told her at that time that they found the car to take longer than normal to crank and wanted to charge $80 for a battery, sale price (normally $150 at dealership). She declined at the time.

When I used the car since then it cranked fine, about a good 3-4 seconds. We had the battery tested at discount auto and they found the battery to work fine and out-put more than enough cranking amps.

Last week she was away for a few days and had the car sit untouched. But when she came back she went on a small 100+mile road trip with the car and it ran fine. And when she came back from that, she took the car to do some errands around town. Today, the car took much longer than usual to fully start.

I don't think it's the battery. Possibly something with ignition. Engine turns over, so it is getting adequate power from the battery to the starter. Engine doesn't misfire. No engine-lights on the dashboard, nothing.

Accent MC (2006-11) :: Clicking Noise When Turning Steering Wheel At Dead Standstill

When I am sitting at a dead standstill and I turn the wheel lock to lock, left or right, I hear a clicking sound. The clicking is louder inside the car, but I can't tell if it's coming from the steering column or the various linkages in the suspension or drive systems.

If I drive in circles, with the wheel at a constant (or changing) angle, there are no clicks, so I don't think this is a CV joint issue.

What could be causing this noise? I really don't want to take off my lowering springs and restore this thing to the original configuration for a warranty repair visit to the dealership.

If I do, you may see a fire sale of H&R 20mm wheel adapters and B&G lowering springs in the near future.

Accent MC (2006-11) :: Hard Starting - Crank Position Sensor

2007 Accent GLS, US-market, Automatic, 140k miles

This is my wife's car. She called me from the side of the road while I was on a job out of town. The car had stalled while driving. She was able to re-start the car with check-engine lamp showing and took the car directly to a garage. It ran normally during that trip.

The garage diagnosed the problem as a failed crankshaft position sensor. They cleared all codes from the ECU without telling us what they were. My wife told them I would fix it when I got home. She drove the car home, parked it there and used my car until I got back.

When I got home, I replaced the crank position sensor with a new beck-arnley part. It was a poor fit, but it did go in. Now roughly every other start takes a few extra cranks. It always starts. It does not stall once started. No check-engine light since the initial episode. I just don't like the random hard starts.

Normal fuel consumption & power output. All other maintenance is up to date.

Sonata NF (2006-10) :: Trunk Locked With Dead Battery

I have a 2007. So as the title says, my battery is completely dead, and my trunk is locked. I have the master key, but for some reason, it won't unlock the trunk. It will unlock the front door, but not the trunk. The switch on the dash won't release the trunk because the battery is dead, and the seat release is in the locked position, so I can't get in my trunk from inside the cabin either. This is an incredibly inconvenient situation, because I have jumper cables right there inside of my trunk.

Sonata NF (2006-10) :: Dead Battery And Check Engine Light

2nd battery in 2010 Sonata 4-cyl died on my wife last night. Got a new battery today and put it in. (Couldn't move car even to push as there wasn't enough juice left to get transmission out of Park). Started right up after battery replacement and ran engine at idle for probably a half hour. Engine seemed to run a little funny. Lost RPM's and sounded like it might die a couple of times, but it stayed running. Now the dreaded check engine light is on. I've had a couple of stop-starts since it began, so I'm not sure it's going to go away. Car seems to be running fine now. Is there a connection between the battery going dead (so dead I lost radio presets and trip odometer readings) and something fouling up the check engine system?

Sonata NF (2006-10) :: V6 Died While Driving Now Won't Even Crank

I bought this 06 GLS 3.3l v6 and owned it a week. 96k miles on it. The car started displaying "random misfire" codes two days before it died. I was on the way to drop it off to a shop to have it looked at then it shut down and would not restart. Got under the hood checked all fuses/relays and everything was fine. I tried turning over and it will not even turn over. Fuel pump does not come on. Thought maybe dead battery but I replaced that after towing it home. Tried with the same result. Removed starter and had it tested at two stores to verify from multiple sources. Starter is good. Left battery in car for two weeks with car off and battery was drained to 0 CCA and 0.9vlts left in it. I troubleshoot with a test light to see if I have something drawing on the battery more than normal. 30amp fuse labeled I/P(B+)2 was causing a draw. What circuit is this and what may be causing my dead in the water symptoms?

Sonata NF (2006-10) :: V6 Won't Start / Click But No Crank

I have a 2006 Sonata v6 with about 140k. The other day, I tired starting the car and I heard a "click" but no cranking. (For definitions, a click is a single staccato sound "kuh"; cranking would be the sound of the engine trying to start and just not able to make it "kuh-kuh-kuh-kuh-kuh-kuh"). I thought maybe I wasn't in park, so I jiggled the gear shift a little and then it started. I'm not sure I actually did anything, but it started and I figured it was a once and only problem. Well, I had the problem again tonight. In Park and Neutral I get a click. In Reverse and Drive, I get nothing. So it seems like Park is recognized. The battery is fully charged, but for god measure, I charged it anyway. Nothing unusual about the weather - 50s and dry. The car is parked on flat ground. I didn't just fill up. I can't think of anything different that I'm doing.

Sonata NF (2006-10) :: 2006, Stalls After Starting

Usually in the morning after starting the car, when I put the car into reverse the car stalls. I start it up again and it works fine. It has been doing this for a few months. When I went to get oil change they said I needed to replace battery so I did. Problem is still there. It has done this twice when I try to take off from a red light. I have no check engine lights either. My car has 105,000 miles but cannot really afford to buy a new car at the moment.

Sonata NF (2006-10) :: Starter Doesn't Crank All The Time

Random issue that has progressively been getting worse. I'm assuming it's one of those Sonata quirks that we all deal with.

When you turn the key the starter doesn't try to crank the engine. AC stuff all works properly. I just keep turning and eventually it will turn on.

Sonata NF (2006-10) :: Long Crank Time (8 - 10 Seconds)

I have a 2006 Sonata GLS with the 3.3L V6 and close to 230,000 miles. A few months ago I noticed that my crank time at starting was longer than typically - it has steadily gotten worse.

Now the crank time is close to 8 - 10 seconds. (Which might not seem like much but trust me, it is).

I suspected that the fuel pump was faulty, however, once started - it runs great.

I put a pressure gauge on the fuel pump outlet and found that it only kicks the pump on when the car is cranking, the fuel pump does not kick on when the key is in the "on" position. Once the vehicle starts, it seems to be drawing fuel.

The pump has all sorts of pressure, I am not worried about that.

I decided to change the Fuel pressure regulator valve thinking that maybe it wasn't holding pressure - That didn't seem to do anything.

Do I need to change the entire Fuel Pump Assembly?

Sonata NF (2006-10) :: Car Is Not Starting After Parked For An Hour

OK, so I was gone for about a week and my Sonata's been sitting in the basement the whole time. When I went to start it this morning, the starter spins for about two fires then stops. I release the key, try again and it's fine. Once I got to work, I killed it then started it again and it was fine. I'll be heading home in about 30 minutes to see if it does it once again. It shouldn't be due to the cold; it's about 50-60*F in the basement. It turned over just fine, so it wasn't battery or power related. I'm hoping it was just some kind of fluke, but I'm also paranoid after seeing the recent surge of Sonata problems.

Oh yeah, and last time I went on a trip both my cars had problems. The Sonata had a leaking tire and the Jeep had a failing alternator. Now my jeep gets backed into while at the parking lot and my Sonata doesn't start the first try.
