Subaru - Forester :: Transmission Stutter When Slowed Down To About 10mph To Turn And Started To Accelerate
When my 06 Forester was still under warrantee I brought it to the dealer to diagnose a "stutter" in the transmission after I had slowed down to about 10mph to turn onto a street and started to accelerate. They could not find anything wrong and so I have lived with it until recently when I decided to try the local tranny shop that has a good reputation. They could not find any problem although at first they thought it might be engine related (mass air flow sensor), but that was ok.
View 2 RepliesSonata I45 (YF - 2011+) :: Transmission Clunk When Downshift
2011 Sonata Limited ... I have just under 60k miles and did a tranny drain and refill at 24k and 55k. Just had the brake light switch replaced. For some reason when cruising with the car in overdrive, if I let off the gas to decelerate and ease into the gas again, I get a real hard down shift and shift. So every time I get on the gas again it is either kicking out of overdrive or downshifting and shifting back immediately. 99% of the time it is a hard thump. When I have the cruise set I do not notice this at all. It does it in ECO or out of ECO. This is new and I started noticing this after the brake switch replacement.
View 6 RepliesSonata NF (2006-10) :: 2.4 Transmission - Clunk / Shake When Shifts And Downshift For No Apparent Reason
Well, After reading about the weird transmission issues these cars have...mine finally started to do it. It will clunk, shake the car when it shifts and downshift for no apparent reason. All of this does NOT happen all the time. The noises that come from my transmission do though.
I can have the car in Drive and have my foot on the brake and I can hear a grinding/low power steering fluid like sound that comes and goes. Its worse when I shift from Park to Reverse though. It sounds like air being released followed by a bunch of faint grinding noises.
Passat (B6) :: Car Jerk And Clunk During The Downshift
I don't do too much long range driving but i notice about a week ago i was driving about 70mph for about 40 to 50 miles.. and when i got of at the exit i started to slow the car down and during the down shift i felt the car to a little jerk and clunk with a bit of hesitation during it.. Today i was doing another long trip and it did the same thing..
i use the highway a lot but usually on it for maybe 5 to 10 miles and it never does it.. I called the dealer and explained it to them and he said he would have to drive the car. and i know since it only happens on 40 plus mile trips the dealer isn't going to go for a test drive that long..
The next long trip i have might be tomorrow nite headed to AC for some gambling so i am going to try to remember to bring my camcorder so i can try to record it for the dealer..
car is a 07 wolfsburg 2.0t automatic completely stock..
Passat (B6) :: Clunk / Rough Downshift From 4th To 3rd
My 3.6 4motion has a rough downshift, 4th to 3rd. I can feel the clunk. The service department (which has been otherwise great, at Gurley Leep in South Bend, IN) says it's "within specs." And no TSB. I know we've discussed the TSB for the rough downshift on the 2.0T. Anything on the 3.6 4motion?
View 3 RepliesHonda - Odyssey :: 2001 - Transmission Whine Increasing Gradually
For over 3 years, my 2001 Honda Odyssey transmission has had a whine, gradually increasing in volume. The pitch increases with speed, not RPMs because it continues to increase pitch when it shifts and reduces RPMs. There are no performance issues, and there are no error codes when hooked to the computer. The transmission was put in at 93,000, 80,000 miles ago. Had fluid flushed and replaced with no effect.
View 3 RepliesSanta Fe (DM - 2013+) :: 2.0T Transmission Lurch When Gradually Gaining Speed From A Stop
VERY interested in the 2.0T but when I test drove it this weekend, the transmission seemed to lurch when I was gradually gaining speed from a stop. I wasn't trying to press the accelerator hard. Just driving it like I would my car and gradually gain speed while driving economically. The 2.4 seemed to do this less, but it also did it.
For those who own 2.0Ts, could y'all tell me if this is normal? I plan on test driving other 2.0T in the event the one I drove was an exception, but just curious.
Nissan - Sentra :: Transmission Sort Of Ripple Or Slip As Slowed Down For Red Light
This problem is really hard to describe. About a month ago, during super-cold weather (teens or single digits) while driving in traffic I felt the transmission sort of ripple or slip as I slowed down for a red light. When I attempted to go forward on the green light, the car resisted at about 10 mph - kind of like trying to go 50 mph in first gear - like it wasn't shifting. At the repair shop they told me there was ice around the wheels and they chipped it off. They drove the car and said it didn't have the other problem. A couple of weeks later, the car did it again, this time near a shopping mall, also on a very cold day (teens or 20s). I drove it into the mall at around 10 mph, parked it, was in the mall for a while, came out - no problem until last weekend - also very cold weather (teens or 20s). This time it happened at around 40 mph.
It started to slow down and I could feel the transmission slipping or rippling, then it felt like trying to go 50 mph in 1st gear and abruptly slowed down to about 10 mph. I pulled over to the side of the road, turned the ignition off, waited about a minute, started it up again and it was OK. No more problem. I took it to the repair shop and told them what happened. The mechanic said it's not the transmission because they checked it when they had it before. He said it might be the part of the computer that tells the transmission at what speed to shift. They now have the car, have driven it about 20 miles, the problem didn't show up, and one of the mechanics took it home to drive around over the weekend. By the way, the Service Engine Soon light has been on for about 2 years. I took it in once to have it fixed and it stayed off for a few months, then came on again.
Lexus IS 2014+ :: Downshift Clunk When Coming To A Stop?
Lexus IS350 ... Noticed a reasonably quiet clunk from the car when coming to a stop? It happens when the transmission automatically shifts into 1st gear with your foot on the brakes.
I noticed that in my car, you can feel a slight lurch forward as the transmission downshifts into first when approaching a stop sign. If I am barely on the brakes, I feel the slight lurch but don't hear anything. Under normal braking, that slight lurch happens along with a clunk. You wouldn't hear it with the radio on, but it's very repeatable and with the windows down you can hear it as well coming from under the car somewhere.
GS 2006-11 :: Trans Having A Downshift Clunk / Jerk When Coming To A Stop
Or just can I just replace and go. I'm having some issues with trans on my 06 gs430. It's having a downshift clunk/jerk when coming to a stop. I just purchased a used trans, but would like to see if it could be ecu related. I have seen other comments from other member that they replaced the trans, but still the issues were present. Some stated that there was some issues with the ecu holding the trans solenoid longer then the usual.
View 6 RepliesCamry :: 2003 V6 - Trans Makes A Very Noticeable Downshift Clunk On Stop
I have a 2003 Camry LE with 1MZ engine and U151 5 speed auto trans. 138,000 miles The problem is that the trans makes a very noticeable downshift clunk when stopping.
With light driving you can feel what seems to be a 2-1 downshift just before stopping. With aggressive driving and rapid stop the clunk is felt either when stopping or actually after the wheels stop turning depending on speed and hard braking. If you stop aggressively it actually feels like someone hit you from behind. It literally shakes the car.
TRANS FLUID is full and clean. There is no smell or burnt appearance. The trans tests good in forward and reverse stall tests. Neutral to drive/reverse engagement is also quick and firm.
Here is the fun part. The condition does not exist when cold. After the engine and trans warms up it starts happening. Also, after presenting the condition with a hot trans, I can shift it out of drive and into 3rd and have no problem at all no matter how I drive. To make things more interesting, I can erase the trans learned values with a scan tool and the trans shifts normally for a couple of days before the condition returns.
We are concerned that there may be damage done if this condition continues.
Honda - Accord :: 2003 Sedan - Check Engine Light On And Transmission Is Not Smooth
My honda accord 2003, 4 cylinder (101000 miles) has constantly check engine light on, also transmission has been rough (it started right after a trip to mountains). The transmission sometimes becomes smooth as normal but still check engine light on and most of times transmission is jerky. I took it to mechanic, he did testing and there was no code.
View 7 RepliesSubaru - Legacy :: When In Automatic Car Will Randomly Downshift Only On Left Turns
My 2015 Subaru Legacy will randomly downshift, when in Automatic, only on LEFT turns! The dealership says there is a sensor that is "overly sensitive" but now it is a safety concern when pulling out into traffic. I never know if it will occur. Most of the time it will shift back into automatic on its own but there have been times where i have had to use the shifter paddles to shift up then it will kick back into automatic. It only has 31,000 miles, bought it used with 18,000 miles. I have also noticed if I don't accelerate slowly, it seems slow to shift automatically and reduce RPM's. I don't want 36,000 mile warranty to bypass without this resolved.

View 4 RepliesFord Transmission :: 4R75E Flair On Downshift?
Hauled my in-law's pop-up camper across the great state of South Dakota this week and noticed that when downshifting from 4th to 3rd it would occasionally flare a bit on the downshift. it was a real quick 100-200 rpm flare when it did it. it would not always flare, though, so it took me a while to figure out a deciding factor. (I had time, as it was about an 8hr haul with kids). what I finally noticed is that if the trans temp was below 180F, the downshift was solid - no discernible flare. but if the temp got north of 180F, then it would flare a bit and never seem to "learn" it's way out of the flare until the temp dropped below 180 the ambient temp was between 95-104 on the trip, and the trans seemed to run between about 170-190 depending on how hilly the terrain was. it didn't downshift a lot. I could pull most of the hills in OD, even if it had to unlock the converter. is this a sign of anything?
View 4 RepliesSubaru - Legacy :: Single Clunk When Braking
I have a 2000 Subaru Legacy with just over 215,000 on it. The car runs nice and I just replaced the plugs and wires as well as the transmission fluid. There is just one other clunk and I don't really know what it is. When I brake there is a clunk that sounds like it's coming from the back somewhere near the center of the car. It is a single clunk. It doesn't seem to affect how the car brakes or handles but I want to know what it is.
View 5 RepliesLexus GX 2010+ :: IPod Won't Fit / Transmission Need To Manually Downshift
I have been a long time Lexus owner (ES and 3 RXs), but I am new to the GX. I just got a 2014 GX-40 w/ Premium Package.
The GX has a lot of the same features my previous RXs had, but of course has some improvements (smoother ride, quieter, better stereo sound, real 4WD).
1) The RX had a console that had the USB connection in it. I found it very handy to just leave my iPod plugged in there. I just had to switch the Source in the radio whenever wanted to listen to it. Since it was in the console, it was out of sight from thieves. On the GX, my iPod won't fit in the small area where the USB ports are. I don't know if an iPod touch would even fit, and they have much less music storage anyway.
2) The GX obviously weighs more than the RX, and it has a V8 engine. Some portions of the power band in the GX seem to be peppier, but overall, the GX feels a little more sluggish. Sometimes I manually downshift the transmission to pass a vehicle, etc. Are there any other alternatives?
Sonata I45 (LF 2015+) :: Automatic Transmission - Jerky Downshift From 3 To 2 And 2 To 1
So the problem is that I have a jerky downshift 3-2 and 2-1 that can be felt by everyone in the car (car pushes forward on downshift) until the car warms up. When the car is warm I can feel it slightly at times and feel a clunk when shifting down 3-2 and 2-1. On up-shifts at times the shifts are shaky from 1-2 and 2-3. I have brought this forward to my dealership as well as another one. They all performed software updates and reset the adaptive learning. However every time I got my vehicle back after this procedure I found the A/C was on full blast. So the initial drive by the tech after the reset was learning while the A/C was on. Would this be causing the weird shifting I experience while the A/C is off. I seem to notice a better shifting when the A/C is on but this may just be me trying to reason why my transmission is behaving this way. I drove other 2015 Sonata's and they have much better shifting than my car and no hard jerks on downshifts.
Both dealers have felt the downshifts and have come back and simply said "We've done all the updates and reset and learning. This may just be a normal characteristic of the car." I told them that a brand new vehicle in this day and age shouldn't be shifting poorly when compared to an older vehicle with 300,000 km (my old Honda Civic which are prone to transmission failures). They responded casually saying you can go and get a second opinion from another dealership if you like. I am furious with their responses and just left it at that. I need to know how to get this resolved and if this is indeed something I should expect from my Sonata.
Touareg :: Transmission Slow On Upshift And Jerky On Downshift
Transmission (V-6) is slow on the upshift; and jerky on the downshift. Going uphill, the transmission does not want to downshift into a lower gear unless the accelerator is heavily depressed. So, 6th gear at like 45 mph uphill, then finally downshift into 4th with jerk downshift.
As car comes to a stop, right about 2 or 3 mph, the rpm's drop from idle to about 400; sometimes once sometimes twice. It feels like it's going to stall. Have had all the software updates.
