Passat (B6) :: Car Jerk And Clunk During The Downshift
I don't do too much long range driving but i notice about a week ago i was driving about 70mph for about 40 to 50 miles.. and when i got of at the exit i started to slow the car down and during the down shift i felt the car to a little jerk and clunk with a bit of hesitation during it.. Today i was doing another long trip and it did the same thing..
i use the highway a lot but usually on it for maybe 5 to 10 miles and it never does it.. I called the dealer and explained it to them and he said he would have to drive the car. and i know since it only happens on 40 plus mile trips the dealer isn't going to go for a test drive that long..
The next long trip i have might be tomorrow nite headed to AC for some gambling so i am going to try to remember to bring my camcorder so i can try to record it for the dealer..
car is a 07 wolfsburg 2.0t automatic completely stock..
Passat (B6) :: Rough Downshift When Getting Off The Interstate
I was getting off the interstate today, and the passat had a really hard down shift.
View 13 RepliesSonata I45 (YF - 2011+) :: Transmission Clunk When Downshift
2011 Sonata Limited ... I have just under 60k miles and did a tranny drain and refill at 24k and 55k. Just had the brake light switch replaced. For some reason when cruising with the car in overdrive, if I let off the gas to decelerate and ease into the gas again, I get a real hard down shift and shift. So every time I get on the gas again it is either kicking out of overdrive or downshifting and shifting back immediately. 99% of the time it is a hard thump. When I have the cruise set I do not notice this at all. It does it in ECO or out of ECO. This is new and I started noticing this after the brake switch replacement.
View 6 RepliesLexus IS 2014+ :: Downshift Clunk When Coming To A Stop?
Lexus IS350 ... Noticed a reasonably quiet clunk from the car when coming to a stop? It happens when the transmission automatically shifts into 1st gear with your foot on the brakes.
I noticed that in my car, you can feel a slight lurch forward as the transmission downshifts into first when approaching a stop sign. If I am barely on the brakes, I feel the slight lurch but don't hear anything. Under normal braking, that slight lurch happens along with a clunk. You wouldn't hear it with the radio on, but it's very repeatable and with the windows down you can hear it as well coming from under the car somewhere.
GS 2006-11 :: Trans Having A Downshift Clunk / Jerk When Coming To A Stop
Or just can I just replace and go. I'm having some issues with trans on my 06 gs430. It's having a downshift clunk/jerk when coming to a stop. I just purchased a used trans, but would like to see if it could be ecu related. I have seen other comments from other member that they replaced the trans, but still the issues were present. Some stated that there was some issues with the ecu holding the trans solenoid longer then the usual.
View 6 RepliesSedan - Subaru :: Transmission Downshift - Car Rev Up And Clunk As It Gradually Slowed Down
I was driving up a fairly big hill in Connecticut using cruise control (65 mph). The transmission downshifted, and the car started to rev (speedometer and tachometer) and slow down. I then felt a clunk and the car started to go again. The car kept on doing the rev up and then clunk as it gradually slowed down. Putting the car in Park caused a grinding noise, and Park did not keep the car from rolling. What did I break?
View 6 RepliesCamry :: 2003 V6 - Trans Makes A Very Noticeable Downshift Clunk On Stop
I have a 2003 Camry LE with 1MZ engine and U151 5 speed auto trans. 138,000 miles The problem is that the trans makes a very noticeable downshift clunk when stopping.
With light driving you can feel what seems to be a 2-1 downshift just before stopping. With aggressive driving and rapid stop the clunk is felt either when stopping or actually after the wheels stop turning depending on speed and hard braking. If you stop aggressively it actually feels like someone hit you from behind. It literally shakes the car.
TRANS FLUID is full and clean. There is no smell or burnt appearance. The trans tests good in forward and reverse stall tests. Neutral to drive/reverse engagement is also quick and firm.
Here is the fun part. The condition does not exist when cold. After the engine and trans warms up it starts happening. Also, after presenting the condition with a hot trans, I can shift it out of drive and into 3rd and have no problem at all no matter how I drive. To make things more interesting, I can erase the trans learned values with a scan tool and the trans shifts normally for a couple of days before the condition returns.
We are concerned that there may be damage done if this condition continues.
Sonata NF (2006-10) :: 2.4 Transmission - Clunk / Shake When Shifts And Downshift For No Apparent Reason
Well, After reading about the weird transmission issues these cars have...mine finally started to do it. It will clunk, shake the car when it shifts and downshift for no apparent reason. All of this does NOT happen all the time. The noises that come from my transmission do though.
I can have the car in Drive and have my foot on the brake and I can hear a grinding/low power steering fluid like sound that comes and goes. Its worse when I shift from Park to Reverse though. It sounds like air being released followed by a bunch of faint grinding noises.
Phaeton :: Low RPM Cruising / Rough Downshift
My V8 NAR Phaeton started with a problem today which is exhibited at low RPM cruising. It is as if an invisible person is tapping the accelerator rhythmically. For example, when going 30MPH with my foot steady on the accelerator, the car will fluctuate between 1300rpm and 1600 rpm, and if I happen to brake during one of these surges I will experience a rough downshift. A complete VAG Com scan revealed nothing code-wise. the car seems to shift fine when accelerating, and according to the center display there are no gear shifts occurring when these RPM fluctuations occur. If I manually select a gear and cruise at a higher RPM, these fluctuations do not occur.
If my description is not clear, I could possibly post a video. I don't have much luck with the search function on this forum, just want to make sure this isn't a well known issue before I trouble with video.
The car is 2004, 113K miles. It has the original batteries which will be replaced in 2 weeks time, but I have not been having any electrical problems.
Azera HG (2011-16) :: Rough Downshift When Slowing Down And Going From 3rd To 2nd Gear
When I'm slowing down, usually about 35 mph which i think is going from 3rd to 2nd gear, there is a noticeable rough down shift. Nothing horrible, but definitely much more noticeable than the shifting of all the other gears.
View 11 RepliesSonata NF (2006-10) :: Automatic Rough Downshift Into 1st Gear
My 09 Sonata GLS has 50k miles on it. I bought it as a demo model with 9k on it (regret that) as new ... who knows how it was treated.
at 40k miles I noticed that in the morning when I was braking the car would feel like it was slipping out of gear momentarily and it was pretty rough. After a few minutes it would stop and I could continue on my way. The car is an automatic. I noticed it if I let the car decelerate enough that it dropped into first on its own, or if I used the brakes. I figured it must be due to the cold weather or something and was hoping it would clear up. This was only happening after 8 hours of non-use, overnight in the cold.
Sonata NF (2006-10) :: Rough Downshift While Coming To A Stop From About 20 Mph
My 2009 Sonata (4 Cyl.) has begun to downshift very rough while coming to a stop from about 20 mph. At first I thought it was the brakes, but now I'm convinced it's the transmission. Essentially it "jerks" a couple of times before stopping. It started happening at 30,000+ and only happens when transmission is still cold. Once I've driven for a bit it doesn't happen.
View 7 RepliesLexus LS 2007+ :: Slight Shutter Or Jerk - Downshift Rough When Slowing
Had a slight shutter or jerking feeling in their LS, sort of like the rotors are warped, when they slow to a stop from 40+ MPH? I just cannot make the car stop smoothly no matter the amount of brake pressure I apply.
I can 100% eliminated the issue if I shift the car into neutral before I slow down. So it has to be the the transmission not downshifting smoothly. Done it from day one. I even replaced my rotors and brakes so I know that isn't it.
Honda - Accord :: 1998 - Rough Downshift Into First Gear When Come To A Complete Stop
I recently bought a 1998 Honda Accord with 124,000 miles. The car had one owner for 14 years. The carfax indicates the owner maintained service on the vehicle, but didn't go into detail about the work that was done. (only that the started had be replaced) When I come to a complete stop the car downshifts rough into first gear. It almost feels like it slightly jumps forward. Is this a problem I need to address and if so what is the problem? I bought it from a trusted dealership who had their mechanics give it a check and said nothing was wrong with it.
View 6 RepliesFord Ranger / B-Series :: Transmission Adjustment / Rough Downshift Into 2nd Gear About 15 Or 16 Mph
My 93' Ranger XLT extra cab 2wd, 4.0 engine and A4LD auto tranny with 126,600 miles has a rough downshift into 2nd gear about 15 or 16 mph. Down shift to 1st is real smooth and upshifting thru the gears is smooth. I just put a new modulator valve on it and upshifts smooth out, they were getting to be hard shifts before changing that valve. I do not know if there is any adjustment that can be made to smooth out the rough downshift when slowing down to a stop for red light. The U-joins are in good shape and new carrier bearing assembly on driveshaft and no extra play in the rear end. A band adjustment maybe or just have to live with it.
View 5 RepliesPassat (B5) :: Jolt On Downshift While Decelerating
Every now and then (more often than not) when I am slowing down in my '05 GLX Passat, the transmission seems to throw it's self rather harshly down into first gear.
So, I'll be slowing down from an exit ramp off a highway to a traffic light and right before I come to a complete stop the car will jolt its self into first.
Is that normal? It happens more when I am slowing down at a quick rate, but when I am gradually slowing down, it usually won't happen.
Passat (B6) :: Tranny Downshift When Going Downhill While Braking
So my 4motion downshifts going downhill while braking...it's annoying as hell! My DSG used to do the same thing but being a faster tranny it was actually NOT annoying... Is there a way to reflash the tranny software? Maybe with an older code because my 06 didn't do this but my 08 does...
View 5 RepliesPassat (B6) :: When Floor The Car In 4th Gear It Will Automatically Downshift To 2nd Or 3rd
Is there a way to VAG-COM a 2006 B6 to hold gears in Tiptronic mode? What I mean is, if I floor the car in 4th gear, then the car will automatically still downshift to like 2nd or third. Is there a way to keep the tranny from behaving this way?
View 5 RepliesPassat (B6) :: 2.0T - Hard Downshift In Sports Mode
When driving in Sports mode only there is a hard downshift from 3rd to 2nd and or 2nd to 1st gear. It is very apparent when stepping on the brake to slow for a turn, the transmission downshifts causing the car to lurch forward (just like if you were to downshift badly on a manual). My car is a recent build 3/07. The car is undriveable in Sports mode at city speeds.
