Santa FE SM (2001-06) :: Knock And Wobble When Press The Accelerator
My 2005 Santa fe has a single knock when you press the accelerator, then between 60 and 70mph there is now a shake in the steering wheel. I have been told it is probably the CV joint and just wanted more input.
View 2 RepliesLexus GS 2006-11 :: 2007 GS350 AWD Alignment - Little Wobble In Wheels
I have a weird problem with my alignment. I have had this car about a year and in April put my summer wheels on. I have a staggered set of rohana's 20x9 up front and 20x10.5 in the back. When I took the factory tires off I could see inner tire wear. I figured just needed new tires cause I don't feel any pulling or known alignment issues.
After a few months I started getting a little wobble in my wheel and more road noise on the summer wheels. When I finally got it looked at just the passenger rear tire had inner wear. I took it to get aligned and the alignment shop said this thing is really good it was all in the green. They did do a little adjustment but nothing major. Showed me the print out and everything. My car is not lowered at all. I've attached pictures......
Ford F-150 (2004-2008) :: 2007 - Rear End Wobble When Decelerate Going Downhill
I have a 07 f150 harley edition.. Here's my issue. When I decelerate going down hill. Feels like my rear end wobbles. It will do it if I decelerate and turn the overdrive off or if I put it in 2nd when decelerating and when I accelerate again it goes away..
View 3 RepliesFord - Fusion :: 2007 - Rubbing And Wobble Sound That Increases In Frequency As Speed Increase
I have a 2007 Ford Fusion SE 2.3L 4 cylinder. It has approximately 94,000 miles on it. I purchased new Sumitomo tires with a 100,000 mile warranty in February of this year. They were balanced and aligned at the time of install. So far they have been very smooth and quiet with great grip. About 2 months ago I started hearing a noise that sounds like uneven tire wear, a sort of rhythmic rubbing or wobble sound that increases in frequency as the speed increases. It is most noticeable at speeds between 30 and 50mph. I rotate the tires every other other change (at least twice a year) and had the alignment done again in late October. I am hoping that there is nothing wrong with my virtually brand new tires. Is there anything else it could likely be?
View 2 RepliesPassat (B6) :: Wobble From Rear Of Vehicle At 15 - 25 Mph
So... related to my last post, here's yet another issue that's come out of my 60K mile check-up (of my 2005 Passat Wagon GLX). The technicians noticed a "wobble" from the rear of the vehicle at 15-25 mph (that, mind you, I have never noticed). Their inspection of the tires noted that the left rear tire's inner tread was "showing steel." After performing some suspension work, they did an alignment check. They adjusted the front axle (since they can do that), which is in alignment now. The rear axle, however, is out of whack. The left individual toe is at +0.50 degrees (shown in red on my diagnostic) and the right individual toe is at +0.10 degrees (shown in green), for a "total toe" of +0.60 degrees.

I'm at 66k, 09 sonata gls, starting to notice a squeak here and a wobble there- I'm curious- what suspension work have you done in the 60-90k range? I have a 70 mile commute in DC so my car does a lot of stop and go. I want to take care of it and maximize life, so I'm just looking for any more common problems within the suspension.

I get a wobble only when on the brakes when I am decelerating at about 40 mph. I have brand new tires on, 1000 miles maybe, with I think a good balance Started happening a couple hundred miles ago... What do you think? Warped rotors? bent axel? It's definitely coming from the front.
View 5 RepliesGolf/GTI VI :: Steering Wheel Wobble / Vibration Around 55 - 80 Mph
I'm having the same issue that I had on my previous Mkv car. Around 55-80mph the steering wheel will wobble back and forth at about a quarter of an inch very quickly. It's an identical shake to my last Mkv. I had the wheels balanced and checked for bends and the car aligned. Didn't work. Went to various shops spent too much on balancing. One shop showed me that one of my tires was slightly out of round. So I bought 4 new tires and had them road forced shop said everything was great. Hopped on the freeway and the same wobble was still there. Car is at 52k miles and I've been battling this problem for about 5k miles now.
I've had the entire car checked. One tech told me that the axels could have gone bad so it is going in under warranty to get new axels on Tuesday, then going back in for an alignment. My last Mkv had the same issue around the same mileage and I spent so much on trying to figure it out I eventually got sick of it and traded it in on this GTI. My girl friend just bought an 09 Jetta and it seems to be having early signs of the same vibration. I'm starting to think its an issue with the generation. My mk3 with 200k miles drives smoother than this thing. I love the car but me driving on the freeway so often really kills the enjoyment.
Ford - Taurus - Vibration :: 2003 - Wobble While Going Between 60 - 80
My 2003 Ford Taurus vibrates when I am going between 60-80. Before and after those speeds it is fine. I read an article from Tom and Ray in my local paper that instructed to do a couple things to see what it could be. I cut out the article and have never seen it again! One step was to drive on the freeway and take your foot off the gas to see if the vibration stopped. If it did, such and such was the problem, etc. I think another thing to try was put it in N.

View 15 RepliesJeep - Wrangler :: Wobble Very Subtle From 40 - 45 And Worst At About 52 Mph
I've been researching and trying to find an answer to the "death wobble" on my 2005 Jeep Wrangler. I've had it in to the dealer and two other repair centers and no one can identify the culprit, other than to say we can change out each piece of the front end a part at a time to see if that will solve the problem. I could buy a new Wrangler for that. I constantly have the tire balanced or checked for balance. The front and rear shocks have been inspected. The bushings in the front end have been inspected. The wobble is very subtle from 40-45ish. At about 52mph it is the worst. Above 55 and it returns to almost nothing. Braking does not increase the wobble. I've not modified anything on the vehicle. From what I've read on blogs this is a common issue for the Wrangler starting somewhere around 2000.

So I just bought an Elantra and I just took it on the freeway. At 65+mph there was a huge amount of wobble in the front of the car. It felt like I was driving in a groove in the road or driving in really high winds. The car drives fine under 60mph...
View 5 RepliesPassat (B7) :: Wheel Spacers Wobble At Speed
So I have been running squared 12.5mm spacers with correct length lugs. I recently traded with a friend in the front from my current 10mm's, up to the 12.5mm's and back down to my 10mm. I noticed at speed that I was getting a pretty steady vibration at 80mph. I think it has something to do with me not tightening my lugs all of the way down, buddy thinks they're backing themselves out.
I pulled them today in the rain to just stock lug bolts and everything feels 100% better. I want to return to my spacers that I have never had issue with before but I'm worried about losing a wheel and dying at high speed. Problem with loose lugs causing vibration even though the first and second time I check that they felt pretty tight?? Or should I just snug em really good to see when I put them back on...
Note they are ecs tuning 10mm hubcentric with good matching lugs.
Chevrolet - Malibumaxx :: 2005 - Front End Wobble?
My 2005 Malibu Maxx LT started shaking on the front end for about the past month. I took it on the highway the other day and realized that the faster I go the scarier it is to be driving it. Apparently this is a"Maxx thing" from what I have read online, but GM does not acknowledge that this happens to many owners of this vehicle and refuses to offer any solutions or reasons. So now I am stuck with it and need to figure out how to fix it.
The 2 mechanics I have taken it to assumed I was referring to the tires and said the tires look fine and there is nothing wrong the the bolts. The first guy gave the bolts a slight tightening and sent the silly woman on her way. The second guy I made drive it, he took it for 2 minutes and he said it is just lousy pavement we have in this area and that I was being paranoid. Could this be caused by tie rod issues, or maybe rack and pinion?
Subaru - Brakes - Imprezawrxsti :: Wobble When Braking
Caller had a problem with his car wobbling or vibrating while he was braking. The conclusion was that the rotors were warped. A quick google search would confirm that this is the most probable source of the wobble, but I'm not sure if it is correct for my problem:
I drive a 2002 Subaru Impreza WRX. For quite a while not the steering and what feels like the whole car wobbles or vibrates when I brake. This is imperceptible at speeds under around 45 mph, but at high speeds it is VERY noticeable. It seems especially bad if I am going around 70 mph and lightly applying the brakes. The wobble does not happen unless the breaks are applied. So, warped rotors right? So I decided to check them and see if they are warped. I took both wheels, calipers, and rotors off my car and inspected the rotors.
My initial impression is that they looked as good as when I bought them. Of course an eye-ball diagnosis would not sufficiently answer my question so what I did was compare one rotor to the other. I put them together rotor on rotor to see if I could find any variation in shape. I figured that if one rotor was flat, while the other was warped, it would be noticeable. If both were warped, than the difference should be exaggerated. I did this multiple times to make sure I wasn't missing any warp or distortion. So as far as I can tell, they aren't warped. Another thing that I noticed, however was the brake pads. They were in good shape for the most part, but the corners/ends seems to be worn of at an angle about a quarter inch from the edge. I reassembled everything and when I drove the car, the wobble was gone. Now after about 15 minutes, the wobble returned.
Here are my Questions: Is my method of figuring out whether the rotor is warped reasonable? am i missing something?Why would the edges of the brake pads be worn down that drastically?Could the wobble come from something else? Struts? wheel bearings? bent wheel? If so, how can I diagnose/test which one it is?
Ford - Explorer :: 1994 - Wobble And Shake At 95 Km?
Bought a used 94 explorer xlt. It came with brand new Wrangler tires. The day we bought it we were driving home and it started shaking and wobbling at about 95kms and but seemed to improve after 115. So I took it to the tire shop next day and had all 4 tires rebalanced. The shop told me that all were out to lunch. The worst was 2 ounces out. Ok cool. Was certain that was the problem. Paid the guy and took off. Got on the highway and same damn thing. The steering seems very tight. No bangs. No knocks. Just the bloody shaking. Oh and also the abs light comes on just as it starts to shake. I don't wanna head to a garage to find out some nightmare when I get there. Want some heads up on it first.

I could still feel it with the blizzaks at low speeds, but way way less. Both sets are 225 50 r17 93v 35psi on original mags as per book
I was wondering if it could have any thing to do with tire wear geometry, or perhaps drive shafts ,but no clicks or noise from them.
Phaeton :: Slight Wheel Wobble At High Speed
Ive had my new Phaeton just over three weeks and have ha to take it back to the dealer with a slight wheel wobble at high speed, I gather the geometry on these is quite complex and the alignment is usually done on all four wheels. Interestingly however the dealer diagnosis is for four new tyres, obviously this is under warranty, but it seems strange to have to fit four new tyres on a brand new car!
