Santa Fe (CM - 2007-12) :: Steering Wheel Seems Stuck At Temperatures Below About 8 C

My 2008 Santa Fe has a problem with the power steering at temperatures below about 8 C.When I start the vehicle in the morning in the garage and begin to reverse, the steering wheel seems stuck and will not move. As I force it, usually to the right, it breaks free but will not return to the left without much coaxing and further turning to the right. There are no fluid leaks or unusual sounds while this is happening of any kind. I replaced the steering rack once for this problem and immediately after a second time with no improvement. I am using the OEM fluid. The vehicle is well maintained and has been having this problem since 60,000 km(40000 miles) I really fear my next visit to the Hyundai Dealer and the frustration of not knowing how to get them on track to solve this potentially life threatening problem.

Santa Fe (CM - 2007-12) :: Rear Power Window Stuck Down

I am speaking on behalf of my Mother who just purchased a 07 Santa Fe, a long story short my niece in the rear passenger seat attempted to put the window down while my Mother attempted to put the window up at the same time. Now the window is stuck down. We have owned the car less then a week. I was thumbing through the Owners manual and it specifically states something in there about "Do not attempt to move the window in opposite directions at the same time" So it is only my assumption that this is what has happened. The door control does not work and the Drivers control doesn't work on that specific window but works on the others. I checked the relays and fuses for the power windows and they looked fine. I have never seen anything about moving a window up and down simultaneously causing issues in any other car I have owned is this a hyundai deal?

Lexus ES 2007-12 :: ES350 Pulls Left / Steering Seems Stiff

Recently had 2012 ES350 aligned at about 14,000 miles. Drives fairly straight at lower speeds on most roads, but on interstate has sharp left pull in left lane at around 65 mph and above. I am aware of road crown, but, in contrast to left lane pull, car has virtually no pull either way in right lane and tends to drive straight; steering at least seems to be stiffer than when I bought it and much stiffer than it seems an ES350 ought to be.

Santa Fe (CM - 2007-12) :: Front Edge Of Roof Panel Is Severely Rusting From Corner

So my vehicle is 6 years old and the front edge of the roof panel is severely rusting from corner to corner. Warranty originally tried to pass it off as stone chips (lol) before I got an independent surveyor to inspect. He said there's no doubt it's a manufacturing fault and is rotting from the inside out. I went back to Hyundai with this appraisal letter to which they replied 'your anti perforation warranty only covers from the windows down so the roof isn't covered.

What could it be ....battery is about 9 months old?

Santa Fe (CM - 2007-12) :: Stiff Brake Pedal / Hard To Accelerate And Speed Drops Fast Without Gas

This happens to me again on a very hot day. The symptom is: all of sudden, the brake pedal becomes stiff. I mean I can only depress down the pedal just a little bit. Then when I want to accelerate, the engine works very hard and speed picks up very slowly. RPM will shoot to 3000. When I remove my foot from the gas pedal, the speed drops very fast. The car slows down much sooner than usual. So my feeling is the brake is dragging the car. The dealer cannot duplicate the problem during short test drive. So what can be wrong? The brake booster was replaced a few months ago. Is it possible it provides too much boost?

Prius (2004-09) :: Power Steering Is Stiff

Our 2004 Prius (71,275 miles) has not been driven much for the last 2 years. It is only used when we need to drive further than we can comfortably in our 2012 Leaf. Most of our trips are short.

Today the power steering feels stiff. I'm relying on my memory of what it felt like when it was new. Perhaps I am comparing it to the Leaf.

I started to check the power steering fluid reservoir and discovered that the power steering is not hydraulic but electrical and electronic.

It it a sign of a failing system? Should I expect increased trouble?

Santa Fe (CM - 2007-12) :: Rear Driver Side Power Window Occasionally Stuck In Down Position

2011 Santa Fe limited fwd

Bought as 6 month old demo in 2011 and from day one rear driver side power window has gone up and down slower than other three windows. Going up decidedly worse. My fault for not having it looked at while still under warranty.

Behavior the same using either driver's switch or the rear switch.

Well, now it occasionally gets stuck in down position. Neither switch works. But, if I press switch and pull up on window I can eventually get it to close.

I looked at other posts and saw no clear solution for this intermittent problem.

Ford 6.0L Power Stroke Diesel :: Alternator Warning Light And Lose Power Steering Soon After Brakes Got Stiff

I just wanted to share with you all a cautionary tale about belt tensioners and idler pulleys. I am now a firm believer in installing the aforementioned items when you replace your drive belt. 15000 miles ago I replaced the drive belt and didn't heed the warning of some here on the forum.

For the last month or two I have noticed what sounded like road noise which I dismissed because I had just had new tires installed that had a more aggressive tread pattern than my previous tires, I also noted that the ECT had been a bit higher than normal, like running in the high 190's to low 200's on average.

Well while driving today I get the alternator warning light and lose power steering and soon after the brakes got stiff, this was followed by ever increasing ECT which got to 242* before I could get it off the road and shut down. It is too early to tell if the noises and the ECT temp rise were the result of this tensioner going out...

For what its worth the only tools required were a 10MM end wrench and a bit of skin to get the job done.

Santa Fe (CM - 2007-12) :: Power Steering Pump Noise When Very Cold

When I started engine, I heard the high pitched squealing noise for 10~30 seconds. The noise was from the power steering pump. The noise changed by turning steering wheel. I did drain & refill 4 times with Preston dino base PSF & turkey baster. Next week cold day, the same noise was still there, so did drain & refill 5 times again with Preston PSF, but the same noise again.

A week ago, 3rd refill was with MaxLife Dex/Merc ATF that I had in my garage, more than 1 liter drained & refilled. Today at -15 C(=5 F), the noise came back for 5~10 seconds. I feel MaxLife(synthetic base) is better than Preston(dino base), but still several seconds noise make me worry about my power steering system.

Am I the only one hear the noise? Is this noise the start of the pump failure? Is this normal for the extreme cold winter?

Santa Fe (CM - 2007-12) :: Whining Noise Upon Acceleration - Power Steering Gone

Noticed a whining noise upon acceleration, today. Noticed that it might be the power steering going. No sooner than I read this, and making a trip to my wife's graduation...Loss of power steering. What should I look for when I take it in, and tell them it's the power steering that is gone. Was reading about a potential correlation with having the rack and pinion replaced. That is something that was done about a year ago. Any real correlation? How bad is it to continue to drive without the power steering?

Santa Fe (CM - 2007-12) :: 2011 - Power Steering Whirring Noise

I own a 2011 santa fe with approx 49,500 miles. in the past few weeks i have begun hearing a "whirring" (or more like a 'zzzzzzzzzz') noise when turning the steering wheel. I've taken it in to the dealership who tells me this noise is "normal".

This was hard for me to believe since it just started occurring in the past few weeks. I checked P/S fluid before taking to dealership and all was okay. also no leaks seen on garage floor.

Why this noise all of a sudden??

Honda - Odyssey :: 2004 - Power Steering Is Stiff And Making Whining Noise / Rack And Pinion Is Leaking

Last week I took my 2004 Honda Odyssey in to Firestone for a rear brake job and they ended up selling me an oil change, two new tires, alignment, an alternator drive belt, and two front engine mounts as well. When I picked up the vehicle late Friday afternoon, I noticed the power steering was making a whining noise and the steering seemed a little stiff. I took it back to Firestone Saturday morning, and they looked under the hood and said my power steering fluid was low, so they topped it off. That fixed the whining, but the steering still had a bit of a kink in it. They said it might be an air bubble in the line that would work itself out. Monday morning on my way to work, the whining was back and the steering very stiff and getting noticibly worse by the minute, so I took it directly back to Firestone.

It turns out the rack and pinion is leaking, and Firestone denies that it could have happened while they had the vehicle. The manager I spoke to said "all we did was replace a couple of belts -- didn't even get near the rack and pinion." Well, that's not all they did, but if anything they did could have caused the current issue. I know there were no suspension or power steering issues before I took it in, and after I picked it up suddenly it's leaking fluid like crazy. What can I do or say to press my case?

Ford Super Duty (1999-2016) :: Power Steering Stiff And Almost Impossible To Turn Wheels At A Dead Stop

I have a 2001 F250 SD V10 and when at a dead stop and with the brakes applied, steering becomes very stiff and almost impossible to turn the wheels. If I let off of the brakes and move a little the steering is just fine. I hate like hell to spend the money on a new power steering pump if it isn't going to fix the problem. Simply put, deap stop, brakes on, wheels don't want to steer. How do I fix it?

Ford Super Duty (1999-2016) :: 2006 - Stiff Steering After Installation Of Red Head Steering Box?

I have an 06 F-250 5.4 gas w/138k. It had recently had a lot of play on the wheel (15 degrees maybe) and last week I made the move to replace the gearbox with a redhead box. All seemed to go ok, but now the steering is stiff and it won't come all the way back to center after a turn. It turns smoothly and completely with no binding, but it has to be moved the last 1/3 turn back to center.

I flushed the fluid initially with Valvoline max life fully syn. Then second guessed myself after the problem started happening so I switched it back to regular Mercon. No improvement.

I had it on stands today and it was extremely difficult for me to turn my tires left to right manually (at the wheel). The only other thing I did was adjust the sleeve on the drag link to straighten out the steering wheel.

Should I be able to turn the tires left and right from the wheel easily? Every now and then I hear a whine from the pump which I never had before, but 99% of the time it seems fine and is quiet. it just feels like something is over tight but everything should be to spec.
