Hyundai - Azera :: 2007 - CV Boot Coming Off Of The Axle
I had an accident with my 2007 Hyundai Azera 3.8 Limited at the driver's side a couple of weeks ago. The frame bent a little bit from the left side. Took it to body shop/mechanic and was straightened back. The mechanic advice me to change the CV axle on the left side due to the CV boot coming off the axle. We bought a used CV axle from the junkyard and everything was fine until 2 days later when I made a wide left trun and I heard a cracking noise.
Immediately, I pulled over and AGAIN the CV Boot from the CV axle has popped out of the axle again and up until now when i drive I hear a cracking noise when turning to the left. Even without checking the car again, the mechanic is still suggesting its the axle I bought that I should buy another one... We also changed the hub in the process....before this problem occurred...
Here is the picture of how it looks now...
Santa FE SM (2001-06) :: Passenger Side Drive Axle Removal
I have a 2003 3.5 liter, AWD and I'm attempting to remove and replace the drive axle on the passenger side. I have the one end out of the hub, but the transmission end will not come out. I removed the bolts holding the bearing plate, and have been trying to pry out the axle with no luck.

I just bought a 2007 Lexus ES 350 last month with 40k miles and I LOVE the car. I took it in for it's first oil change today at the dealership and they found a leak in the passenger side axle. There was grease all over the place and they told me I needed a new axle. They mentioned it looked like the damage was pretty recent. There is a remanufactured Lexus part they offered for $300. If I let them replace it, the total including an alignment will cost me $650. My question is.... Can I buy the part and replace it myself, then get the alignment done at the dealer to avoid all the labor fees. I consider myself mechanically inclined. Have done my own fair share of maintenance work from oil changes to valve cover gasket replacements.

While changing over to snow tires yesterday, I noticed the driver's side CV boot was split open with grease/oil everywhere.
Questions:
How urgent is this repair? Is the car drivable for a short while until I can get it fixed?
How much might I expect a CV boot replacement to cost?
Lexus GS 2006-11 :: 2008 - Leaking Grease From The Boot?
I bought my 2008 GS 350 in March of this year, got it checked by Lexus of Edison at 70,606 miles (I purchased it at 69,850 miles) and everything was fine. So I went in for my 75,000 mile service and now they're saying that my LF axle is leaking grease from the boot and to replace it with a brand new axle it will cost $1773. Here's a picture from directly underneath the drivers side

The rubber on all my CV joint boots looks really good. Really amazingly good, I don't see anything that looks like a tear or split anywhere, or even anything looking like weak spots.
And yet ... Both of the inboard joints are leaking some grease that looks like it's coming right out under the lip of the boot at the fat end, beyond where it's clamped.
Is that common?Even though the noise I was checking into turned out to have a simpler explanation ....
Lexus GX 2004-09 :: Grease Splatter On The Frame / CV Boot Clamp Leaking
I noticed a little bit of grease splatter on the frame last night when I was changing the running board lights. The grease was coming out from the clamp, no ripped or torn boot.
Maybe one day I'll buy the special clamp and crimping tool but for now I used some silicone tape. It seals to itself and it doesn't leave a sticky residue if removed. If you use this tape make sure you stretch it and pull it really tight as you're wrapping it so it can seal to itself. I used some zip ties just in case.
Golf/GTI VII :: CV Boot Spitting Grease - Won't Turn Left - Broken Control Arm?
Had a "Friend" who multiple friends suggested could install my VWR springs put my springs on. Long story short, the installation was a nightmare. And I should have just been patient and taken it to the local tuner.
My problems now are: Guy snapped an inner axle bolt off. CV boot is spitting grease everywhere. Car does NOT want to turn left. It will turn a little then it just wants to go straight. Am I guessing the last issue may be a broken control arm? What do you think? I'm calling the local tuner tomorrow and getting my car in this week to be repaired.
Golf/GTI VII :: Small Specks Of Grease On Inner Portion Of Front Passenger Side Wheel
So for the last few weeks, I've been noticing small specks of grease on the inner portion of my front passenger side wheel. I initially chalked it up to some sort of weird road grime or maybe I ran over something, etc. But it consistently has come back after a week or so goes by between washes (notice it each time I go to clean my wheels each week). Upon further inspection, it looks to be coming from the end of the boot on the tie rod. Its not "wet", but more of a sticky/dry grease that's seeped out and picked up grime/dirt. So it's definitely a very slow/minor amount. And the 3 other wheels definitely don't have the grease on them.
Hard to get photos and its dark out right now, but there's not much to see. Just a few small "globs" of grease that stick to the wheel barrel over the course of a week. Again, not a major amount by any means, but definitely doesn't seem normal.
I have an appointment scheduled for a tire rotation and head unit software update this Friday, so I'll be sure to have them inspect everything down there. Really curious as to what could have caused this, and what the fix might be.
Santa Fe (CM - 2007-12) :: Driver Side Vent Blows Hot Air / Cold On Passenger Side
I have a 2008 Santa Fe Limited. Today I briefly turned the heat on since the outdoor temp was cool. Later in the day, I resumed the A/C AUTO setting at 72 for BOTH sides of upper vent outlets. I soon noticed that the driver's side blows warm air and the passenger side blows cold air as it should. No amount of adjusting the temp control either up or down had any effect on the driver's side except for constant warm air. Now I know the passenger side can be adjusted separately but both sides were set for the same temp. Never had this happen before. Always before, if I wanted warm air, the warm air would come through the floor outlets. What's causing warm air to come out the top driver's side vents when it should be cold? Could a diverter door be stuck?

I have a 2007 hyundai Santa Fe GLS. When the AC is on the drivers side blows hot air and the passenger side cold air. Both actuators are working driver side and passenger side. I watched them engage as I changed air flow and temp. What I should look at next? Also, the rear ac button light will not come on and it blows hot as well.

Never seen this problem before. Thought I had a leak in the system and had to have it serviced. The AC did not seam to be blowing cold. It would take forever to cool off. Was trying to get as much air on me as possible so I decided to point the passenger side vents towards the drivers side to cool off in the mean time. I noticed the passenger side was cold. Air is blowing out of the drivers side but not cold like the passenger side.

View 6 RepliesSanta Fe (CM - 2007-12) :: Clonk Noise At Rear Of Boot
Having owned my 2010 Santa Fe less than a week, am learning and listening to any noises and things that go on with the car to make sure I am happy with it. There have been a couple of things that are easy sorts by the Dealer I bought it from, but I am a little worried about a Clonk noise coming from the rear of the boot and is this normal.
Although I didn't buy the car from Hyundai I still have the remainder of the 5 year warranty and the mileage is low, obviously the dealer I bought it from is the first person to speak too, but I think I should get Hyundai to check as they will no more about the car. It may be something simple but don't want to leave it and find out it could be a major problem, as I am worried about it being related to the Self Leveling Suspension as I know this is costly and obviously would want Hyundai to look into while under warranty.
When I am driving along and go over a rut in the road or a hump or something it's like something in the rear jumps and clonk as it comes back down.
Having just got the car the boot is empty and I haven't even found a load cover for it yet, the 2 rear seats are down, checked the tyres and they have been pumped up to the correct pressure.
I have had a look at the tools and I don't think it is anything moving around there and it would make more of a rattle rather than a clonk. I not sure if I have a spare wheel and whether it is located underneath the car as I can't get down underneath and have a look as I have difficulties with bending, kneeling etc.
If there is a problem with the suspension or shocks etc would it make this sort of noise, would I notice anything in the way it drives etc. The noise sounds a lot like it is inside but can't think what it would be, definitely a sort of sound like something is lifting off and clonking back down.
Santa Fe (CM - 2007-12) :: 2008 - Leak On Steering Boot
I have a Hyundai Santa Fe 2008 with approximately 105,000 miles. I had my left inner tire rod replaced a couple days ago and today I notice a leak under the vehicle by the boot. There was not a leak previously. I had the tire rod replaced because it was loose and notice by the mechanic who was doing the front wheel alignment. Could the mechanic have damaged something that caused the leak? What could cause this leak? The vehicle seems to be steering just fine.
