Ford - Escape :: 2001 - At Start Up Idles While Sat For Long Periods Of Time
I have a 2001 Ford Escape XLT V6 4X4. About 3 months ago I started to experience rough idle in the morning. It went a away for a month or so, but it is back now. I noticed that it occurs primarily after the vehicle has sat for long periods of time. More than 10 hours, give or take, and it happens, less than 10 and it generally doesn't. When the issue does occur it sometimes almost stalls. I can tell the computer attempts to make up for it usually. The check engine light came on originally but hasn't since, a mechanic could not pull any code and could not reproduce. The issue disappears within 3 to 5 minutes usually after everything seems to warm up. I'm had regular maintenance and I am an 75k. I've even tried using gas additives and tried a high grade of gasoline to no avail.
View 17 RepliesFord - F150 :: 2003 - Condensation Inside When Running AC For Long Periods Of Time
My 2003 f150 v6 occassionally leaks a little inside when running the AC for long periods of time. Its only a little bit, and Ive noticed it after several road trips with the AC on the whole time. I am aware of a service bulletin fix on this. Essentially the problem is the two drain holes are horizontal through the firewall so air blows water back in, and the fix is to fit two L shaped hoses to block the wind and allow the water to drain downward in the engine compartment. I have done this months ago and it has largely solved the problem, when the water was more of an issue. My question is, is some condensation to be expected or is something clogged up? From time to time the heater core area makes a faint rhythmic rattling that goes away eventually.
View 2 RepliesPrius (2004-09) :: 2005 - AC Stopped Cooling If Stop For Long Periods Of The Time
I am having issues with my air conditioning on the 05 prius. For some reason when I leave to go somewhere its fine, but if I stop for long periods of the time the a/c stops cooling, the fan is still blowing. Once i take off it cools somewhat better but still not cold as it should be.
I have already had the car checked for DTCs and there are none, plus I had the a/c vacuumed down and recharged to factory specs, it still has the same problem.
Santa Fe (CM - 2007-12) :: 2011 Limited - HVAC Blower Doesn't Turn On From Time To Time
Over the past year we have been noticing that the HVAC blower doesn't turn on from time to time. All settings in the control panel seem normal and the fan speed is turned on. Most of the time everything is working normally, sometimes when the car starts the blower isn't working and then starts after a minute of driving. Sometimes I notice the blower isn't working and I turn up the fan speed and after a few clicks it starts working normally for the remainder of the drive. And then sometimes the blower doesn't ever start and I need to turn off and restart the car a few times. When the blower hasn't been working the a/c compressor has been turning on, something in the blower circuit is failing.
There are five possibilities:
The HVAC controller isn't telling the blower to turn on
The power relay isn't always working
There is a wiring or connection problem
The blower motor itself isn't working
The power mosfet is failing.
What needed to be replaced?
Toyota - Corolla :: 1995 Wagon Dies Unless Gas Pedal Is Depressed For Long Periods Of Time In Neutral Or Park
I have an automatic '95 Toyota Corolla wagon that over the past year has had intermittent problems dying after turning on the ignition. It happens mostly when starting for the first time in the morning in our carport (which is generally flat) [are there enough red herrings yet?]. However, we can go for weeks without problems. Our battery is relatively new (1yr) and the car starts-- however, sometimes the car dies unless the gas pedal is depressed for long periods of time in neutral or park. If I can pull out of the carport without having the car die, we've never had any problems on the road.

Last oil change at the dealer (they're free) I informed the service desk of some knocking and grinding noises that are happening from time to time in the front end.. and fluid in the driveway.. they did the oil and said they saw nothing... so I have to go back next week for my last free oil change and before I made the appointment, I dropped in to see my regular mechanic.. steering rack is leaking on the passenger side and has been for a while as the fluid is down to the minimum line in the reservoir.
Made the appointment with the dealer, informed them about the noise again and fluid on the driveway.. again. Let's see what they say this time.
Ford Excursion :: 2005 V10 - Front AC Blower Cutting Out Randomly
Have an 05 Limited Excursion v10 where the front blower motor will cut out randomly. The rear blower will work without issue even when the front is not working. When the front is working (98% of the time) all speeds seem to work and can adjust to all heating/cooling positions. After searching the forum I thought the likely culprit was the blower motor; which I replaced this pass weekend but coming home from work it cut off again, clearly the issue is not resolved. I know the ford resistor are known to be prone to issues but symptoms do not seem to point that direction. Also it is does not happen with any consistency, happens at idle just as frequently as the expressway. What else to check and how to check before I have to give in and take to dealership...
View 2 RepliesLexus GX 2004-09 :: Negative Impact On Engines When Driven For Long Periods?
I'm trying to think of what gets affected on a vehicle which is driven about 20 to 25k miles a year. I'm looking to purchase one with the following description.
2006, 4.7L V8 is bulletproof, but with 165k miles already, what should I look for when inspecting the vehicle?
It's been dealer serviced. Is there anything other than normal wear and tear items that might be negatively impacted by doing so many road trips (lets say 300 miles at a time) That would be around 550 trips of 300 miles in 6 years.
The reason I ask this rather than just looking at the truck is because I'm in Dallas and the truck is at a Houston dealer... So before I drive out there, I wanted to "assume" what affect this kind of usage would do to an engine.
Toyota - Corolla :: 2006 - Dying Intermittently After Long Periods Of Sitting?
My Toyota Corolla, 2006 keeps dying after long periods of sitting. Coincidentally (?) the issue has only occurred on weekends, after my 8-hour afternoon work shift. The first 2 occasions it made a quick clicking sound when I tried to start it (6 and 5 weeks ago, respectively). I replaced the battery; it was old. Then, the same issue happened two weeks ago. I had the battery checked at the site of purchase, where they also checked the alternator. Both reps advised me the parts showed up good on their meters. It died again the next day. So, I had a mechanic check every fuse and relay in the car to look for a draw on the battery using an amp meter. Readings indicated no significant drop in current draining from the battery while any were unplugged. . . I don't use a remote control unlock button (one professional seemed to think this might be relevant), and I have checked to make sure no lights were left on, even in the trunk. (Also note - I have seen no drop in performance when driving vehicle, nor any change in air conditioning or light brightness). I'm lost where to take it from here.
View 11 RepliesSanta Fe (CM - 2007-12) :: Cutting Off When Slowing Down Then Cranked Right Back Up
We have a 2007 Santa Fe with 78,000 miles.
It's recently developed an issue where it has cut off on two different occasions within the past 2 weeks.
My wife said both times happened as she was slowing down and it felt like she was losing power. The vehicle cut off and then cranked right back up.
I've taken it to my personal mechanic as well as the dealership for diagnostic tests and neither were able to replicate the issue or find the problem.
Camry :: 92 / Backup Lights Sometimes Work For Short Periods Of Time
Bulbs, wiring and fuses are fine. Backup lights sometimes work for short periods of time if you jiggle the socket on top of the PNP switch. Tried spraying the sockets with wd 40 but did not work. know if cleaning the PNP will resolve this?

I have a 2009 Santa Fe . The AC blower fan will have some days where it just doesn't work. I have taken it to the dealer on 4 occasions without the issue being rectified. It seems that unless it isn't working on the day , they won't even look for an issue.
View 4 RepliesSanta Fe (CM - 2007-12) :: Rough Idling After A Long Drive In Park
Well all is ok now but I am not one to ignore or forget a symptom. After a long drive into the city over Christmas I pulled in to park at my destination. It was idling rough when I stopped. Vibration my be a better adjective but not too bad. It did not feel like ignition etc, not MIL on and putting it in Part did not change it. I shut it off and went inside for the festivities. Started it for the drive back and all was ok.
Whether some bad gas with water got in or something else I don't know as it as above freezing but I got thinking about this dam harmonic balancer pulley may have had on the 3.3L go. I have seen some post in in 2006 as well with this engine in other models. I got some 47L of quality Shell gas later on as well for the drive home days later. Still no issues but... IT HAPPENED AND I DON'T FORGET so I am thinking about it.
Is this a major problem on SF's some went as early as 30k from the owers. I had no other indicators and I doubt there is going to be much to see in the space with a light.
Santa Fe (CM - 2007-12) :: Blower Motor Is Much Noisier
12 Santa Fe, I decided I better give it the once over. I found the cabin air filter was pretty bad and that surprised me because I don't drive in dusty areas etc and usually don't drive much at all any more since I got a company car but anyway....to the question: AFTER I changed the filter, making sure the airflow arrow was correct, I noticed that the blower motor is much noisier than before especially when set on the higher fan speeds. The sound is much like a off balance fan with a bit of a thump to it. Could I have dropped some of the dead bugs into the fan when I changed the filter? I was careful and didn't see anything fall into the fan area but the noise is annoying as heck. Is this something that would be covered under Hyundai's warranty? Headed to the Florida Keys Saturday and not looking forward to hearing that racket all the way down there.

View 3 RepliesSanta Fe (CM - 2007-12) :: Transmission Seems To Slip Back To Third Gear While Driving Up Long Incline
Seems lately when driving up a long incline the Trans seems to slip back to third gear from overdrive. I watched the tach and it jumps up like it's went to another gear. But goes right back into overdrive. It will keep doing this as long as we're under load, like going up an incline. If I put it manually into 3rd and keep it there it won't do it.
We went on a long trip last summer and it kept doing it and it threw a tourque converter code. I can't remember which one tho. I did a drain and fill and it made it better but it's doing it again. We have 167,500 miles on it. I was told by Hyundai that it would be around $2800 for a rebuilt tranny. If I was to need one. Don't think the TPS would cause the shudder right? Seeing it doesn't do it when I keep it out of overdrive.
